While Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X10 has been taking all the headlines, let’s not forget that there is also the Kurara U5 from Sony Ericsson that is also highly anticipated. Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-Review has managed to get hold of a unit, and was kind enough to publish a preview on it. In case you were wondering, the main difference between the Kurara U5 and the XPERIA X10 is the fact that the former is powered by Symbian, while the latter runs on Google’s Android. The Kurara U5 seems to have many similarities with Samsung’s i8910 OmniaHD, which is also powered by Symbian. Will the XPERIA X10 overshadow the Kurara? We’ll have to wait till they’re both released and see what happens.

As of today Symbian users are able to use Spotify on their mobile phones. Phones that are support are for instance very many popular Nokia phones, some Sony Ericsson phones and Samsung phones. A great step forward!

Spotify has expanded its mobile reach with a launch onto the Symbian platform – a potentially huge new audience spanning around half of the global smartphone market.

As well as a large range of Nokia handsets, the app will also run on a selection of Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones running the Symbian platform, such as the Samsung GT-I8910 Omnia HD and Sony Ericsson Satio.

To get Spotify’s Symbian application, users can either download it directly to their phones by visiting m.spotify.com through their mobile web browser, or by entering their phone number on the new Symbian information page to receive instructions via an SMS.

As with the other iPhone and Android Spotify offerings, the Symbian app is only available to those who are Premium, i.e., paid-up members of the service.

With the N900 getting AWS support, there’s every reason to believe that T-Mobile USA and Nokia want to make beautiful music together — but in order to do that, they’re going to need some quality hardware in the mix. Whether the S60 5th Edition-based 5230 qualifies as “quality hardware” is strictly a matter of personal opinion, but for what it’s worth, Cell Phone Signal has raised some very good points about a recent FCC filing suggesting that the model is inbound. First off — and most importantly — the SAR report for model code RM-593 indicates that AWS 3G is supported, and overlaying the back of a 5230 with the filing’s label document lines up perfectly. A slam dunk? No, it’s not — but considering how long it’s been since T-Mobile’s sold an S60-based device, the time might be right to get back into the game.

Memory Tester Touch is a game that well…tests your memory.

You’ve got a 3×3 grid of 9 squares. One square lights up at a time, and you have to remember the pattern as one new square is lit (provided you’ve got the previous pattern right – otherwise game over)

You get one point for each correctly lit square you remember. Get a square wrong and you’re back down to zero. Unless you hit a new high score, the previous high score will continue flashing.

El RVCT es el compilador de ARM que toma ventaja de las instrucciones vectoriales de los ARM es decir las intrucciones SSE, esto significa que el código será reducido al máximo, que el procesador hará más con menos “vueltas”, y al final el usuario tendrá una mejor experiencia, y de hecho si el producto final va a llevar al máximo las características del Nokia, está DEBE ser la opción elegida, por ejemplo un juego en 3d. ó un programa que maneje procesamiento de datos.

Está es una gráfica que demuestra que el código final en Dhrystone, es reducido a un 50% aproximadamente, y según la fuente, el Hello World, es reducido en un 97%.

El caso es que al instalar Qt, Carbide, y todo el SET en el Computador, uno está entusiasmado, hasta leer que el RVCT tiene costo, y que en el IDE Carbide, no existe la opción de compilar Qt con GCCE.

Pero por linea de comandos hay una alternativa.

Lo primero es llegar a la carpeta del proyecto, en mi caso es:

> cd \Symbian\Carbide\workspace\HelloWorld

Luego se ejecuta Qmake que generará los archivos necesarios para compilar.

Esto puede tardar algunos segundo y una vez finalice estará listo para compilar, como se va a compilar con GCCE, debe darse la instrucción indicada a make.

esto si deberá tardar un poco mas, e indicará paso a paso los procesos que lleva a cabo, de tal manera que si hay un error en el código será fácil encontrar.

當大家都把注意力在Apple iphone 同Android的時候,Nokia都了解自己也不可坐以待斃,在未來日子.親生仔S60會慢慢告老還鄉由新系統Maemo 5慢慢取替.無可否認,Nokia這一次可說是破斧沉舟誓保手機一哥地位. 2009年可以講係手機行業最艱辛的一年.因為遇上了世界金融風暴.同時Nokia在智能手機業務一直都被Window Mobile打擊, 同時iphone的威脅也令Nokia在市場上的發展可謂難上加難. S60系統的退步也加速拉下了Nokia在市場上一哥地位.

普遍用家都認為S(Symbian)系統已是過時及不合智能手機平台.Nokia要轉變系統以配合未來手機發展才可改變命運.所以亦發報新手機N900及新系統Maemo5,一個以Linux-based為開發基礎的系統,開發及運算都比S系統都更好.同時亦有消息傳出Nokia有可能收購Palm並希望得到web os的技術.不過暫時仍未有定案,只知道未來兩年Nokia要重整旗鼓得更艱難.

My first post! Whoo! Right to it then.. Ok, so I started a petition to Samsung Mobile so they would fix/improve/maintain the Samsung i8910.

Not too shabby but the petition statement was sort of rushed, I’ve been criticized quite a bit about it. Got some advice from Steven Litchfield of  http://www.allaboutsymbian.com from the Phones Show, one of my favorite podcasts.  Hope it gets enough momentum I’ve been putting a lot of effort into this. I’m currently working on a report that I will send to Samsung Mobile. It could take up all my summer break but its all for a good cause. I mean I love the phone, its got a lot of potential but I think for that potential to be realized some people need to be pushed – no shoved – AK.. ok, getting carried away, but you get my point. Sweet. That’s my first post and I’m loving it!

+J for S60をインストールする方法があるということが分かったので、

今回は+J for S60で日本語化していきます。

これで日本語入力ができるようになります。

それではインストールしていきましょう。

1、まずは+J for S60のページより+J for S60（タッチ版）本体 v1.21.00をダウンロードしてください。

ここからSISContents 1.5.5もダウンロードしてください。

２、+J for S60はそのままではSatioにインストールできません。

そこで、SISContentsを使って、Satioでもインストールできるようにします。

まずSISContentsのextsis.exeを起動してください。

次に　File > Open fileでPlusJforS60_Touch_v12100.SISを指定してください。

そして下の画像に示すボタンを押してください。

するとフォルダが生成されてPlusJforS60_Touch_v12100.SISの中身が出てきます。

次にFile > New Package > Create from Folderで選択画面を開きます。

Package nameを任意に入力して、Location of the filesで先ほど生成されたフォルダを指定します。

そのまっまNextを指定しいってください。

元の画面でTarget deviceのところをクリックして、Target device画面を出して、Editで「S60 5th Edition devices」を選択してください。

File > Save asで任意の名前を付け保存してください。

3、先ほど作ったsisファイルをSatioにコピーして、Allfiles化した状態でインストールしてください。

途中でエラーっぽいこと言われますが、そのまま進んでOKです。

成功してれば、アプリケーションのトップに+Jフォルダができているはずです。

そのまま再起動してください。

日本語フォントをインストールしてない方は上記の方法で+Jのサイトのフォントをインストールしてください。

私はFontrouterLTでフォントを変更してます、一応+Jを入れる前にFontrouterLTをアンインストールしてから、+Jをインストールしました。

その後FontrouterLTを再インストールしました。

４、+Jフォルダの+J環境設定を起動して、FEPを松茸に切り替えます。

Notesなどを起動すると下の画像の右上のようにアイコンが松茸のに変わってるはずです。

FEPはこんな感じです。残念ながらローマ字入力には対応してません。

これでローマ字入力やフリック入力ができるようになれば完璧ですが(俺がiPhoneに調教されすぎ？)、

もう日本語入力のたびにブラウザ起動してSumibiを使うのからは開放されました。

The Nokia N900 finally sees the light of the day. The N 900 is a device on which Nokia’s high end fortunes will depend upon. However, the Nokia N900 tablet is also a “first ever” in terms of high end device not sporting the Symbian S60 platform. The Maemo 5 OS powers the N900. The N900 sports a 5MP camera and a 32 GB memory and a flash web browser and is priced at $649. The S60 5th edition OS (as used on the N97 and N97 mini) might be mature, but it’s pretty damn woeful. Nokia’s much-hyped 5800 and N97 showed that Symbian is now ill-suited to running a sophisticated, modern and easy-to-use multimedia phone, and so now, maybe Maemo lights the way. Maemo 5 (used by the N900) definitely has a better user experience, and though it’s not perfect either, it’s definitely headed in the right direction. Nokia seems to be finally dipping its toe in to the water of an entirely new firmware future.

Rumors suggest that Nokia will drop Symbian from the entire ‘top end’ N-Series range of handsets in favour of Maemo by 2012. Nokia has products on both platforms, with the Nokia N900 (Maemo), Nokia X6 and the Nokia N97 mini (Symbian). Going forward, Nokia seems to be planning all N Series (Mobile Internet devices) on the Maemo platform and the other phones series (XpressMusic and Enterprise series) in the Symbian platform. What’s more likely is Nokia adds more Maemo-powered handsets like the N900, which it’s called a “tablet”, to an extended top-tier Nseries lineup, while retaining Symbian S60 for its mid-range multimedia smartphones and S40 for basic candybars and emerging-market devices.

Nokia must now hope the Symbian Foundation can get developers to innovate around a somewhat open-sourced OS sufficiently to reinvent the software from its base. But it has to keep an option on Maemo as it waits for the incumbent to catch up.

In the mean time, none of the US carriers have picked up the N900. An unsubsidized N900 @ $649 will be make it very difficult for Nokia to convince its consumers to pick up. Nokia can ill afford N97’s fiasco repeated again. Historically, it dosnot have a great record in securing a competent eco-system, a decent OS and also operators to support its devices. Nokia is atleast trying to change the OS aspect of the equation with Maemo.

たぶん、日本語が表示できなくて、日本語の入力ができなくてお困りですよね？

私は初めずっと、イギリスのサイトばかり見てましたよ（汗

今回は日本語環境を作っていきます。

さて、日本語環境を作っていこうと思いますが、

Satioは日本語化ツールが一切対応していませんので

一筋縄ではいきません。

追記：+J for S60で成功した方がいるみたいです。近日+J for S60を購入してやってみます。

1、まず、好きなTrueTypeフォントを準備してください。

私はPCやXPERIAとかで使ってるMeiryoKeGothicを使いました。

２、次にここからFontRouter.LT.for.v9.Build20071109.unsigned.sisをダウンロードして、

Allfilles化で使った中国製ツール等で署名してください。

出来上がった署名つきのFontRouterのsisをSatioにコピーしてインストールします。

インストールしてもアイコンは出ませんのでご注意ください。

３、お好みのフォントをE:\Data\Fonts\にコピーして再起動すすれば、お好みのフォントが適応されてるはずです。

が、MeiryoKeGothicだと、アプリケーション一覧画面で、下に長いローマ字「g」とかが下が切れてしまいます。

設定ファイルのE:\Data\Fonts\Fontrouter.iniを編集すれば何とかなるのか…

まぁ他はちゃんと日本語が表示されたはずです。

しかし大問題があります、日本語が表示はできても入力できませんよね…

そこで、最終手段ですが、Sumibiを使います。

Sumibiはローマ字をAjaxで変換する、日本語変換サイトです。

また、Sumibiはオープンソースなので、

携帯用サイトをカスタマイズしたのでサイトを運営されている方もいます。

上の画像を見られるように、スペース区切りで入力すると日本語変換できます。

正直、いちいちブラウザで変換するのがめんどくさ過ぎる、

日本語化ツールが早くSatioに対応してほしいです。（されることがあるのか？
