Hi Everyone.

Empire P & V was proud to be the official photographers for the Saint Hubert Invitational Synchronized Figure Skating competition. It was their 15th year hosting this competition and teams came from Canada and the USA. The amount of talent and sportsmanship was amazing to watch as over 50 teams competed in multiple categories. Mr. Deramond and his staff were extremely helpful and well organised as usual which showed in how smoothly the event ran over the two days.

Our staff was busy photographing all the teams as they skated their routines on the ice. We also provided team photos for all teams as they came off the ice using our portable studio system complete with a backdrop and studio lighting. It was a long two days but we enjoyed photographing the event and mingling with all of the parents, coaches, and skaters.

Thank you to Mr. Deramond, his association, and all the teams for having us and we hope to see you all again next year.

Es hat sich in den letzten Jahren viel zum Guten gewendet: Zumindest die englischen Original-Tonspuren der meisten Videospiele werden mittlerweile professionell eingesprochen und produziert. In der Vergangenheit hat es hingegen zuhauf Synchros gegeben, die an vorsätzliche Körperverletzung grenzten und entweder von absoluten Laien oder völlig demotivierten B-Darstellern fabriziert wurden. Hier sind 50 abschrenkende Beispiele:

Gefunden beim Wortvogel

Nicht nur in deutschen Spiele-Versionen fragen sich Gamer öfters, was denn die werten Synchronisations-Künstler da geraucht haben: Schräge Betonungen, selten dämliche Übersetzungen und Sprachkunst aus den Tiefen der Hölle. Jedoch sind nicht nur deutsche Spieler mit dem Problem bekannt: Auch englische Spiele werden immer öfter ohne Liebe heruntergefaselt. Auf youtube habe ich die “Top 50 worst videogame voice acting” gefunden – zum Totlachen (wenn es nicht so traurig wäre…).

Bleibt nur noch zu sagen: “James! Go and prevent the confusion in the city!”

Dragon Age: Origins vs King of Queens

Endlich konnte auch ich erste Hand an Bioware’s neues, episches (und damit meine ich “wirklich episch gigantisches”) Meisterwerk Dragon Age: Origins legen. Die deutsche Xbox 360 Version sieht fantastisch aus… und hört sich fantastisch an. Das Intro scheppert sowohl den HD-Schirm, als auch die heimische 5.1 Anlage… und wer erzählt die Hintergrundgeschichte? Richtig! Niemand geringeres als der King of Queens himself (aka Doug Heffernan) – bzw. sein deutscher Synchronsprecher Thomas Karallus.

Anscheinend ist Thomas Karallus nicht das erste Mal in einer Videospiel-Produktion anwesend: Schon bei Need for Speed Underground 2 (EA) und Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (ebenfalls von Bioware) gehörte er zur Synchro-Cast. Wer wissen will, woher er seine Stimme noch kennt: Wikipedia ist dein Freund!

Doch damit ist der King of Queens Zusammenhang mit Dragon Age: Origins noch nicht zu Ende: Auch das deutsche Stimmwunder Robert Missler ist im gewaltigen Synchro-Katalog vertreten. Missler spricht bei King of Queens Danny Heffernan und gilt, wenn mich mein Wikipedia-Gedächnis nicht täuscht, allgemein als genialer Redekünstler. Eventuell kennt ihr seine Stimme auch aus “Käpt’n Blaubär” und dem Ottifanten-Film, Hörspielfans dagegen aus der Balkan Connection.

In der englischen Fassung übernimmt den Sprecher-Job des Grey Warden Duncan übrigens Peter Renaday. Auch Renaday scheint eine wahre Größe auf dem Gebiet der (englischen) Synchronisation in Videospielen zu sein – sein Katalog ist im Gegensatz zu Karallus erheblich größer. Zuletzt machte er bei Halo Wars und Ninja Gaiden 2 mit, weitere Infos gibt’s bei IMDB.

Zum Abschluss noch das aktuelle Video-Review von www.gametrailers.com. Mein persönlicher Rat: Kauft euch das Spiel sofort und nehmt euch die nächsten zwei Wochen Urlaub – es lohnt sich!

après un long article sur mon switch, je pensais vous faire un topo sur snow leopard mais il tarde à arriver (merci la poste)

Donc je vais vous parler de Firefox, vous allez me dire que vous connaissez, ou qu’il y a safari dans un mac….mais j’avais mes habitudes sur Firefox et après un test de quelques semaines sur safari, je suis revenu a Firefox.

Pourquoi?, pour les extensions bien sur!!

je vais vous parler de 3 extensions que j’utilise le plus

d’abord une que je ne vois jamais puisqu’elle tourne en arrière plan, c’est Xmarks. Cette extension permettant de synchroniser les bookmarks entre plusieurs PC ou mac

Mon utilisation est donc d’avoir sur moi mes bookmarks en permanence, au boulot (sur XP avec une version portable de firefox) et à la maison (sur mac avec Firefox installer normalement). Et aucun soucis une inscription au service gratuit et ça marche!!!

La deuxième c’est Brief,pour lire les flux RSS

pourquoi brief alors que safari peut lire les flux rss simplement parce que pour moi c’est plus simple d’ajouter des flux rss dans brief puisqu’il suffit de les ajouter dans les bookmarks. Et puisque mes bookmarks synchronise entre la maison et le boulot ….c’est simple!

Dommage qu’il ne synchronise pas les flux lu entre la maison et le bureau

La dernière c’est twitterfox, comme son nom l’indique c’est pour twitter…on peut lire les twits et en écrire, bref rien de compliqué

October update

Once the excitement of the Streatham summer competition was over numbers in the team reduced dramatically due to holidays and other interests. The core team members decided to make a commitment to building a team to take part in adult synchro competitions. Recognising this will mean a lot of hard work we focused on practising core skills, getting our knees bent, gaining control and speed.

We’d managed to get our numbers up to 10 members for the competition, but in September we were reduced to 6. A new member, Adrian, has now joined us and we’re working hard to find more skaters to get our number up to 12 – the minimum for an adult team to meet the requirements of governing body, NISA (National Ice Skating Association) http://www.iceskating.org.uk/.

We’ve added lots of new steps into our programme which at the moment we are far from mastering. Lots of three turns, mohawks (let the wonderful Dmitri show you how http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTrTX-r7PHM) and quick switches between steps are tripping us up at the moment. We’re undaunted though and all have faith that we’ll have it mastered in time for the Christmas show.

District 9 – den sollte ich mir eigentlich anschauen. Wenn das Teil denn mal in der Nähe von Duisburg – dazu zähle ich nicht Bochum wo man unter der Woche nicht mehr nach Hause kommt – im Original liefe. Denn das ist eines meiner Hindernisse wenn es ums Kino geht: Ich möchte den Film in der Originalsprache sehen. Im ORIGINAL.

Das beinhaltet dann auch Bollywoodfilme auf Hindi wenn sie englische Untertitel haben – da habe ich kein Problem mit. (Ja, ich bin sogar extra nach Köln gefahren um mir einen Bollywoodfilm mit englischen Untertiteln anzuschauen. Nennt mich Nerd.) Ich habe mir auch Frostbite auf schwedisch mit deutschen Untertiteln angesehen und Neon Genesis Evangelion läuft auch immer auf japanisch mit Untertiteln bei mir.

Meine allgemeine Kinounlust: Läuft ja auch nichts was ich sehen wollen würde

Ich finde nämlich, dass nicht nur Mimik und Gestik zum Ausdruck eines Schauspielers gehört sondern auch die Stimme. Und selbst wenn die Synchronisation auf deutsch gelungen ist, so ist sie allenfalls ein Echo dessen, was im Original in der Stimme transportiert wird. Wer kein Englisch kann, für den ist natürlich die Synchro die erste Lösung. Aber dann könnte man sich auch mal die Original-Fassung mit deutschen Untertiteln anschauen. Hilft auch enorm beim Lernen von neuen Englisch-Vokabeln. Ohne “True Blood” hätte ich das Schimpfwort “Fangbanger” nie kennengelernt…

Allerdings: Momentan gibts auch so gar keinen Film, den ich mir in Kino antun wollen würde, selbst im Original nicht. “Harry Potter” – davon habe ich nur den dritten auf DVD, weil der total toll ist. Die ersten zwei habe ich noch im Kino gesehen, aber so toll sind die auch nicht dass ich dafür Geld fürs Kino ausgebe. “Antichrist” – weiß nicht, ich bin zwar großer Lars von Trier-Fan, aber Kastrationsszenen in Großaufnahme? Ieks. Der kommende Pixar wäre toll – wenn die Originalfassung in 3-D laufen würde. Tut sie aber wohl in Duisburg nicht, jedenfalls nichts gefunden. Der neue Film vom “Alles auf Zucker”-Macher, den werde ich mir sicherlich anschauen. Da weiß ich, dass ich gutes Geld für einen guten Film ausgeben werde. Demnächst dann mal im Filmforum. Aber sonst?

Zudem: Die DVD-Veröffentlichung ist ja momentan so schnell, dass man allenfalls drei Monate warten muss bis der Film der Wahl auf DVD mit Originalsprache zu kaufen ist. Was mich daran erinnert, dass ich “Watchmen” noch mit der “Steelbox” brauche… Sabber…

Rising Star Dragon

Level: 12

When your opponent activates the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Monster card, you can send 1 card from your hand or field to negate that effect and destroy it. Once per turn you can discard 1 card from your hand. This card gains the effects of that card until the End Phase. This effect can be used during any player’s turn. During the End Phase, return this card back to the Extra Deck and Special Summon “Stardust Dragon” from your Graveyard.

Super Synchro Summon requires 2 or more Tuners. Some Super Synchro Monsters don’t have specific material monsters (unlike my example above). Their powers exceed that from regular Synchro monsters and Dark Synchro monsters, but can be difficult to get out. Just like with Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, Nomi, or Semi-Nomi monsters, the Super Synchro monster needs to be properly Super Synchro summoned first in order to be Special Summoned from the Graveyard or Removed from Play pile. Also, a Dark Tuner monster can count as the Tuner material monster for the summon. Like Synchro Summon, add up the Levels of all the monsters needed to Super Synchro Summon the monster from your Extra Deck. They also double function as regular Synchro monsters like a Dark Synchro monster. Face-down monster cannot be used as a material monster.

Once per turn you can discard 1 card to destroy 1 card your opponent controls. If it was a monster, then inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK or DEF. When this card battles, destroy all other monsters on the field after damage calculation. Once per turn you can negate the effects of 1 face-up monster on the field, and this card gains ATK equal to that monster’s ATK and DEF.

Rising Rose Dragon

Attribute/Type: FIRE/Dragon/Super Synchro/Effect

[Raiser Dragon] + [1 Tuner] + [Black Rose Dragon]

When this card is Super Synchro Summoned, send all other cards on the field and in each player’s hands to the Graveyard. Then both players draw 1 card. You can remove from play 1 Plant-type monster to remove from play 1 card your opponent controls. Once per turn you can negate the effect of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls and make its ATK and DEF 0 until the End Phase.

Rising Fairy Dragon

Attribute/Type: LIGHT/Dragon/Super Synchro/Effect

Once per turn you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand or Graveyard. Its effects are negated. Once per turn you can destroy 1 card on the field and gain 1000 Life Points. If it was a monster, gain Life Points equal to its ATK instead. Once per turn you can negate the effects of 1 face-up card on the field and your opponent discards 1 random card from their hand to the Graveyard.

Raiser Dragon

Level: 1

ATK/DEF: 0/0

Attribute/Type: LIGHT/Dragon/Tuner/Effect

Effect: This card’s name is also treated as “Salvation Dragon – Savior Dragon”. When a Synchro monster that is listed on a “Rising” Super Synchro monster is Synchro Summoned, you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard.
