No one now remembers Eightball Simeon as anything but a joke, yet in his day he was nearly a saint.

No one now remembers Eightball Simeon as anything but a joke, yet in his day he was nearly a saint. It’s hard to credit, I know, but there was once genuine reverence for the man; people came from far and wide to make the pilgrimage to his sanctum, to watch him at work, deep underground, at the heart of a labyrinth, jumping from pillar to post above a bottomless pit, penitent, suffering: a holy man in the very act of being saintly, right before your eyes, without rope or safety net, no hidden wires. Why, he could have gone at anytime! One false move and that would have been that. We all appreciated the fact, even those of us who said otherwise. So yes, interest was high. The sick and the pious and the curious were all there, huddled in the candlelit gloom, hushed and hopeful, with sandwiches and flasks, excited, anxious, expectant.

Even now, no one knows when he first started his ascetic regime or who it was that built his strange lair beneath the city or how he came to be there and how people, in turn, came to be aware of his presence in such a hidden and inaccessible location; in many ways it was this that bred a certain amount of suspicion against him, the sheer inexplicability of the thing, as if he was perpetrating some inexplicable hoax against the general public; it lent itself to the idea that he was an illusionist, a trickster, a charlatan, a fraud. Many thought it a publicity stunt. Others thought he was a sad lunatic and that it shouldn’t be allowed. Nobody could deny the spectacle though.

Indeed, watching him sleep was a sight to behold in itself, curled up in a precarious little bundle around some stony spire, looking at any moment as if he might topple and fall, twitching from nightmares, beset by doubts. Certain types – you would hardly call them disciples – even came especially to see this; towards the end, perhaps even the majority of those there.

Back then the legends surrounding him were much more traditional and mystical than the lurid gossip we hear today; typically they involved him coming down from a mountain or walking out of a desert, doing things with fire, prophesising, that sort of thing. My personal favourite was that he had been hawked up with some phlegm by a giant fish, krill in his hair and a revelation from on high still ringing in his ears.

Of course, no one believed any such thing, but that was beside the point: he was there, for anyone to see: an enigma, a mystery; an act of attrition on public display.

And yes, of course, he had to eat. And no one could begrudge him the occasional toilet break. Occassionally he would mingle with his public, press the flesh of his admirers, lay hands on the sick , oblige seekers after relics of hair.

In fact, it was in this way that I met and spoke with Eightball Simeon. Not that I was there for any noble purpose, I have to admit; I was dating a girl who worked one of the merchandise stalls that sprang up down in the connecting tunnels and passageways. I would sometimes help her out. She sold t-shirts and one time I asked him to sign a few. He was a short man, very pale, with yellow teeth and prone to mumble. He smelt, more than any man I have ever met, of meat – raw meat; it was quite disgusting. I guess personal hygiene, like modesty, was a secondary concern to a man of his calling.

However, the most disconcerting thing about him was his right eye, which was set with a double pupil in the shape of a figure eight, and from where he took his name. He told people that through it he could see the Devil, perched upon a nearby pillar, with a blistered head and a broken neck, taunting him, jeering, trying to make him fall. I think he told a lot of people this story; it didn’t always go down well, particularly to those with children.

Certainly, he had his detractors, even then. There was always a prurient interest in his affairs; after all, human nature doesn’t change that much, it’s fair to say. People wanted to know what he was running from? What had he done? And the extreme and bizarre nature of his beliefs inevitably led to a touch of pantomime. Sometimes drunkards would heckle him, shouting that the Devil was behind him; it was impossible not to join in. But I think he was used to this, being a patient man.

Interestingly, those cases of mass hysteria that sometimes affect crowds were reported quite frequently amongst those gathered around the pit. People would become genuinely convinced that they too could see the Devil, just like he said. I remember several occasions when people would run screaming from the chamber or faint dead away. It was quite disconcerting. But generally, the crowds would be content just to watch. Perhaps a little vicariously, but peaceably nonetheless . It was only towards the end, after a few incidents of bottles being thrown, that the chicken wire became necessary.

All in all, a remarkable man. I can see him now, pirouetting through the air, graceful for a man of his age, legs like an athlete, teetering on one pillar before jumping to the next; the admiring sighs of the crowd; the sheer commitment of the man there for all to see.

And out of kindness, perhaps, I try to think of him this way, but the truth of the matter is that I have never seen such a look of relief as that upon the face of Eightball Simeon in the second or two before he fell. I shall always remember him in that moment, when he knew that there was nothing more he could do.

(Link) Diesen “Urlaub” bekommen sie i. d. R. höchstens an 21 Tagen pro Jahr, also drei Wochen, da Wochenenden voll zählen.

Almost everyone loves and wears t-shirts on a regular basis. This is one of the few items of clothing that people can feel comfortable and still look great. If you are looking for a t-shirt of some, the chances are that you will find it because there are so many kinds of t-shirts and corporate t-shirt there. It is a highly profitable industry that has many different options available to different people. T-shirts are a great way to make a statement, it is afashion statement or a declaration of a certain belief. You can say something with a t-shirt without ever saying a word.

One of the things that people express on T-shirts is their Christian faith. Christian T-shirts are a great way to show how you feel about your faith. The message on the shirt can be something as simple as "I believe" or the various statements about Jesus or God. A Christian t-shirt can also have a script of the Biblemeans something special to the wearer. A Christian t-shirt can be a little different with flashy graphics or a famous quotes or Christian teaching. There's really no end to what you can put on a t-shirt Christians, just as he speaks to your faith or your Christian faith.

A Christian t-shirt is a great gift to give to other Christians or to treat yourself. They are ideal for special events and occasions as well asVacation Bible School or any other time, like a birthday, etc. It is the perfect gift to give to that person who loves to share what they feel about their Christian faith. A t-shirt says a lot about a person, and what better way to tell him how you feel on a given topic, then say so right there on your t-shirt for the world to see.

You can also put your Christian message in other objects as well, not only t-shirts. You can get these messagesPrinted on things like coffee mugs, handbags, sweatshirts, key chains, ties, teddy bears, hats and other things. If it can be printed on, chances are you can customize according to your needs. So, if you do not want to give a t-shirt as a gift, there are other gift items, you might as well and they can produce the same desired effect as t-shirts do.

You often can customize anything you want and have it printed, but there are also many great designs alreadyavailable to you. There are some that are very simple while others can play with the various references to popular culture while being able to give the Christian message through. With all the creativity there is really not difficult to find that the T-shirt perfect gift to give or buy for yourself. It's just an all around great way to express and say the word you think of your faith or your beliefs.

I was quite embarrassed to have edited and re-edited my last post about a hundred times only to have

I was quite embarrassed to have edited and re-edited my last post about a hundred times only to have my sister point out the fact that I had written about boys in a bottle instead of boys in a battle. Yikes.

However, I have been (mostly) freed of the desire to run and hide my blushing face after reading a blog post by author Donald Miller. In the post, he relives the moment when he reads a major typo in his first book that had just been published.

The sentence was supposed to read:

“We were walking into the meadow. I was walking with my hands in my pockets.”

But instead it said:

“We were walking into the meadow. I was walking with my hands in his pockets.”

Also yikes. Donald then opens his blog’s comment section for readers of his latest book, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, to tell him about any typos they find. And there are a lot.

Basically, this is just to say I hope to not make many major blunders in the future, but please feel free to point out if I’ve written I have my hand in someone else’s back pocket.

[also ps: ever wish that what you wear could do more than just make a statement? check back soon to find out about an awesome organization that sells great t-shirts with a cause.]

T shirts are probably the most popular upper wear, preferred by men, women, children, college goers

T shirts are probably the most popular upper wear, preferred by men, women, children, college goers for their comfort factor and high attitude quotient.

T shirts are considered as the king of street fashion and college kids consider it cool to hang out in sexy t shirts with funky slogans written across the chest and low waist jeans. T shirts have become the “it” summer attire for a vast cross section of society.

However it hardly makes any sense to splurge a fortune on a simple garment like t shirt.

T shirts which are available in malls and departmental stores are highly over priced.

It would be more economical if you could make your own t shirts at home and then add a catchy tag line on the chest of the garment by using fabric or digital printing or other such techniques.

Just look up the current styles in fashion magazines or fashion based web sites, follow their instructions and create your own unique cheap t shirts that will make you a surefire head turner in college. Most teen magazines contain directions for tailoring your own t shirt at home.

Or if you don’t want to get into so much trouble, just hop into the flea markets or beach side markets to strike a great deal. These are some of the best places to source trendy t shirts at rock bottom prices.

Garage sales are also good hunting grounds for t shirts at dirt cheap rates.

When online stores, normal shops and departmental stores offer their season’s end sales and stock clearance sales, you can pick up as many t shirts as you want, for the discounts are up to 70% at times.

1. CONFUSE. Create a graphic t-shirt design that forces people to look again. It can be a simple des

1.	CONFUSE. Create a graphic t-shirt design that forces people to look again. It can be a simple design, but one that is just too silly to not look at one more time, or something so difficult to decipher yet catchy enough that people keep looking at your torso while they speak. The graphic t-shirts that have most caught my attention are those who have large lettering to get you to start reading, but contain a kicker in small letters that you must read from up close to figure out. Treat graphic t-shirts like billboards in the subway: if people don’t somehow feel confused they probably won’t try and figure out what the rest of the tee says. Another way to confuse people is to use a graphic design that just makes no sense. One t shirt I saw showed a triangle trying to escape from between rows of bars – multi-color bars. It just made no sense, but definitely forced me to look at it.

2.	FUNKIFY. Make graphic t-shirts that have funk written all over them. Not literally. It is a trend for now, but it is an effective way to making tshirts that are cool. Take a cartoon image – say of an astronaut listening to a boom box – add some colors behind him, with an 80’s touch to it – and you will have a funky-looking graphic tee. Curvy lettering, hot colors, simple designs all can give you a funky feel. Design your graphic t shirt while you listen to some Maceo Parker and that should help too.

3.	GO RETRO. Take it back in time with a graphic tee design that reminds people of another epoch. Right now, the 80’s are hot. Until recently, it was the 70’s. What does this mean? Plenty of overuse of multiple color schemes meant to bring out lettering, 3-D effects, rock star band t-shirt designs, and Madonna. American Eagle has been using a lot of retro-looking designs in its shirts, using distressed screens to print some of them so that they have an old look. Their designs are getting old though, now that graphic t-shirts are cooler when they look like they’re from the 80’s.

4.	BE IRONIC. Design a tshirt that is simple enough that people can interpret and that is incongruent with the situation. The surrealists were the masters of this. Follow Duchamp’s lead and design a graphic t-shirt that says something that is clearly untrue or that just makes no sense. Retro-irony used to be funny, but is now being used less often. By retro irony, I mean an old advertisement that has a new meaning today. Some graphic t-shirts still have these designs.

5.	BE UNCONVENTIONAL. Take a common graphic t-shirt design and do something else with it. Take a design that people are accustomed to – say a rainbow – and make it drip like wet paint. Take unicorns and show them having sex. Just whatever it is, make sure it pops with creative thought. Your tee should send a message that is not lost in translation, that breaks some barriers.

6.	BE SILLY. Design a graphic tee that will put a smile on everyone’s face. A bunch of fingers on a hand visit their injured partner the thumb, a bear watching TV in the middle of the forest, telling stupid raisins to stay out of your cookies, and two lemons helping another lemon cut in half, carrying him on a stretcher… (lemon aid). Silly graphic t-shirts get messages across easily and effectively, often without offending, which is a good quality to have. It is all too easy to make offensive graphic t-shirts.

7.	KEEP IT SIMPLE. Simplicity in a graphic t shirt can sometimes be the most effective tool to convey a message – that is, if you have one. Graphic tees can be made just to look cool, and not to pass any kind of message at all. A giant circle with splotches of paint around it, or just common vector images that do not really say much more than “I like colors.” Sometimes one or two words will do the job. Being vague is important in graphic t-shirts to draw interest and simplicity is the key to being vague.

8.	TALK ABOUT YOURSELF. Graphic t-shirts that ridicule others are easy to design. However, what is more interesting is to ridicule oneself. I have seen some funny variations on the idea. There are many tshirts out there that make drunk jokes about the wearer of the shirt. Of course, you can always wear graphic t-shirts that says something about you without doing so directly. If you wear a skull t shirt, it could signify that you are into gothic.

9.	USE 3-D. Three-dimensional graphic t-shirts are part of a return to the 50’s with an extra dose of Warhol. These graphic tees don’t necessarily work if you wear 3-D glasses but sure look like you need to in order to understand them. The main use of this type of graphic tshirt is on gangster-type tees that show explicit scenes that are better left in 3-D.

10.	CALL TO ATTENTION. You can get someone to look at your graphic t-shirt in various ways. You can draw their attention with an arrow, because usually that means you are pointing something out around them that they may be able to relate to. You can address them by using “You” in your graphic t-shirts. In any case, it must engage your viewers in some way.

I found a few gig posters that we had done for a local venue last year. These were not just web designs for myspace or facebook … they were actually printed as well. We can print these digitally on nice quality poster paper … not just copier paper. The files can be any kind of files … this one one was done with all vector files. You can check out the flickr (just click the pic) for other examples of raster files. We can print 11 X17 to movie poster size and we print small quantities. Just remember with smaller quantities come higher prices per piece. Plus usually there is an art charge for poster stuff.
