När jag läser recensionen av Taichi Yamadas nyäversatta Främlingar börjar jag undra vad det var som gjorde att jag inte föll för den? Jag bloggade aldrig om den heller, så nu har jag ingenting till stöd för minnet att gå på.
En sak jag minns, är att den hade en kvinnlig karaktär som var sådär stereotyp som kvinnorna i japanska böcker gärna är: sexig & dödlig. Kanske var det bara det jag retade upp mig på.

LÀNG TRẺ EM SOS ĐÀ LẠT

Làng trẻ em SOS Đà lạt tọa lạc tại số 67-69 đường Hùng Vương , thuộc phường 9 , SOS là những chữ được viết tắt của hai từ có nguồn gốc từ tiếng La Tinh “ Societas Socialist” , có nghĩa là công tác xã hội . Đây là một tổ chức Từ Thiện xã hội phi chính phủ  phi tôn giáo, có trụ sở chính (Head Office ) được đặt tại thủ đôViên của nước Áo và văn phòng tài chính ( Financial Office ) được đặt tại Đức .

SOS hoạt động tại Đà Lạt từ năm 1989 , chuyên nuôi dạy trẻ em mồ côi theo kiểu mẫu gia đình . Nghĩa là , trong khu làng trẻ em SOS có nhiều ngôi nhà ,mỗi ngôi nhà mang một tên goi như Hướng Dương , Đỗ Quyên , Phong Lan , Pensée, Thủy Trúc , Thủy Tiên …mỗi căn nhà có một bà mẹ chăm sóc một đàn con trên dưới 10 trẻ với nhiều lứa tuổi , từ bé nhất đến lớn nhất , giống như anh chị em trong một gia đình . Khi đến tuổi trưởng thành , các trẻ sẽ được tách riêng đến ở tập trungtại một lưu xá hoặc được đưa đi học nghề chuyên môn để ra đời tự lập mưu sinh và hòa nhập vào cuộc sống của cộng đồng . Làng trẻ em SOS Đà Lạt hiện nay có 14 ngôi nhà và một lưu xá với tổng số hơn 130em đang được nuơi dạy tại đây và gần trăm em đang được đi học chuyên môn ở các nơi khác .

Điều kiện để được làm mẹ trong làng trẻ SOS cũng rất nghiêm ngặt . Trước hết , phải là một người phụ nữ hoàn toàn có cuộc sống độc thân , tiếp theo là những yêu cầu lý lịch rõ rang , đạo đức và các chuyên môn khác .

Các em mồ côi từ khắp nơi trong nước được nhận về đây thong qua chính quyền địa phương hoặc cá trẻ em bị bố mẹ bỏ rơi . Các cháu được đưa về đây nuôi nấng , chăm sóc chu đáo . khi đủ tuổi , các cháu sẽ được đi học theo chương trình phổ thông tại trường Hermann Gmeiner giống như những đứa trẻ bình thường khác . Ở nơi đây , các cháu được hưởng một cuộc sống thanh bình , đầm ấm và hạnh phúc . Các em không phải làm bất cứ một công việc gì , ngoài việc học và vui chơi ,

Trường Hermann Gmeiner tọa lạc cạnh làng trẻ em SOS và trực thuộ tổ chức này . Hermann Gmeiner là một bác sĩ quân y người Áo . Sau đệ nhất thế chiến , ông nhận thấy chính trên quê hương của ông có quá nhiều trẻ em mồ côi và ông đã đứng ra vận động đê thành lập một trung tâm nuôi dạy các trẻ em này .

Sauk hi hoàn tất chương trình phổ thông, các emsẽ được học tiếp lên trung học chuyên nghiệp , hoặc đại học hay một nghành nghề tự chọn . Tổ chức SOS sẽ chăm lo cho các emđến khi các em có thể sống tự lập. Hiện nay, đã có nhiều em trưởng thành được cho đi học tại các trường đào tạo chuyên môn khắp nơi trong cả nước .

Làng trẻ em SOS Đà Lạt có một khung cảnh thơ mộng , thoáng mát với nhiều loài hoa quý được trồng để trang điểm cho vườn nhà . Du Khách có thể đến tham quan và tím hiểu về những sinh hoạt và cuộc sống của các trẻ em mồ côi nơi đây . what are you thankful for?

a simple project done in stages.  children sat with me in a circle and they told me ideas of things they were thankful for (i realized that what a preschooler is thankful for can also equal what they wish for), i wrote them around the edge of the purple paper, then they went to ms. carol.  she helped them identify colors and sizes in order to glue them together so each color would show.  then there was turkey face making and glue drying.

There are so many things that I am thankful for.  I acknowledge the many blessing that I and my family has/continues to receive.  Just taking a breath from one second to the next is a blessing.

we used cinnamon scented natural feathers, a low temp glue gun, an old cereal box, scraps of construction paper, and a marker.

it always feels like an assembly line when we do “crafts” like this.  these are activities where the product is what we’re working towards (unlike most projects we do).

i try to make the process worth something.  like letting the children put both hands in the tub of feathers, letting them cut the extra scraps of paper while i use the glue gun, letting them break off little pieces of some pinecones to use for the beaks (plus quite a few extra).

and the children go home with something “cute” to decorate the home with.

more specifically, turkey rob.

thanks to a daddy’s vision and ability, he turned my vague description of a “stump turkey” into this:

we named him turkey rob.  each child colored turkey leaves, attached them to dowels and stuck them in one of the holes on turkey rob’s back.

it only takes a grown up friend one time in the classroom to be considered a teacher friend.  mr. rob is greeted with great enthusiasm when he comes to pick up his preschooler.
