Christina Hendricks marries in NY with TACORI wedding bands

New York, October 12^th, 2009- Last night, Mad Men star Christina Hendricks tied the knot with actor Geoffrey Arend.  The couple exchanged platinum wedding bands made by TACORI.  The rings are simple and lovely – so much like Christina and Geoffrey.  Arend’s engraved ring matches her petite platinum ring with two rows of pave-set diamonds on an elegant knife-edge band, and the vintage styling on the pair of rings really “speak to each other”.

This weekend actress Penelope Cruz was photographed wearing a diamond sapphire engagement ring. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the picture of the ring already has most bloggers saying she’s officially engaged to longtime boyfriend Javier Bardem. Although the photo is small, you can still make out the the large sapphire center stone surrounded with pave diamonds.

During Jewelry Market Week in Vegas we made a note about all the sapphire engagement rings we saw and predicted a sapphire engagement ring trend to emerge within the next few months. After all, sapphires are cheaper and make just as much of a statement as diamonds (or maybe that’s up for debate).

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for coming to visit my very first blog.  In honor of my recent engagement I’ve decided to document the journey with everyone as I’m sure it will be an exciting ride!

In October of 2010 I will become a Goetzke which is why I decided to title my blog “Good as it Goetz” (I know… corny maybe but I like it!)  I plan on keeping up with the blog and sharing my wedding-planning experiences.  My wonderful mother has ordered me a wedding planner book that will tell me everything I need to do to plan a wedding because otherwise I have absolutely no idea where to begin!  So, until the planning starts I’m just going to tell you the story of how we met and our engagement story.

Jordan and I met freshman year of college at Butler University.  My group of girl-friends and his group of guy-friends was mutual so we spent a lot of time doing things together but the two of us didn’t really know each other or talk much.  I honestly couldn’t tell you my first impression of him because I don’t remember – it was all overwhelming trying to meet people and make new friends – all I know is he was wearing a blue shirt.

Over the course of first semester Jordan and I closely became great friends and got to know each other.  Often times we would stay up late sitting in the hallway talking or online and he became one of my best friends at Butler… little did I know what was going come from it!  I remember all of the guys telling me that he liked me.  If he did he sure had a funny way of showing it because I got the complete opposite impression.  I was intrigued that the rest of them thought he was into me so I was eager to get a sign that he did.  Leaving campus for the first big break (Thanksgiving) we talked a lot while we were home and I started to realize that maybe I liked him a little bit more than just a buddy but I was still so unsure on if he even was interested in me at all.

Over Christmas break I got really sick and ended up having to be in the hospital for 4-5 days for a kidney infection.  When he and his mom sent me a package while I was in the hospital, it finally started to hit me that maybe there was something more there.  I came back to campus early for recruitment and was anxious for him to get back a week later so I could see him!  When he got back we finally ended up sharing our first kiss and it was history from there…  From that day (January 22, 2005) we have been together and I couldn’t be happier than I am with him.

On July 18, 2009 I got engaged to this wonderful man at the place we met: Butler University.  I had driven up to Indianapolis late Friday night after work with two of my friends who are also in Nashville.  I went to sleep exhausted after our long drive around 2 o’clock in the morning.  Jordan had an oil change at 8am (because he figured I would still be sleeping) and then a golf outing with the guys at 9:30.  He woke me at 7:30am when he was leaving and gave me a kiss and said he should be back in about 30-45 minutes after his oil change.

Twenty minutes later I got a phone call… it was Jordan so I answered to hear him say “you’re going to kill me…”.  Still half-asleep I asked why and he explained that the small shop (on Pennsylvania and 49th) had double-booked the time and it would be about an hour or two before his car was done.  He asked me if I could pick him up so he didn’t have to wait there.  Tired and cranky I asked if there wasn’t anything else he could do to pass the time because I had just gone to bed 5 hours before.  He said he was going to walk to campus and see if the bookstore was open but he hoped I could pick him up so he could get his stuff ready for the golf outing.  Reluctantly I threw on a hoodie over my pajamas and grabbed Chloe and got in the car.  I called him when I got close and asked where he was and he told me he had decided to go for a run on campus and huffing and puffing said he was doing the stairs at the bell tower.

I drove down Lake Rd. and saw a guy running the stairs from a distance so I pulled up and parked and walked halfway to the bell tower (still half-asleep mind you).  I got closer and realized it was not Jordan so frustrated I turned back around to head back to my car to get my phone to call him.  A very cute guy in a shirt and tie came out from nowhere and called my name and my heart dropped when I saw him standing there by the lake.  I got nervous and my heart sank and I ran to him asking why he was dressed up.  Confused and excited started to think what if this was it?!  He hugged me and said a lot of really sweet things (don’t ask me what because I was busy squealing and sobbing and in complete awe and disbelief).  He pulled out a beautiful ring and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

Of course I said yes and at 8:20am was no longer tired at all and was ready to tell the world I was going to marry the man of my dreams!  Jordan left shortly after for golfing with the boys and I spent the next several hours on the phone with my family and friends telling them the great news!

The reason I was in Indy in the first place was to see our friend Annie who has been teaching in Qatar for the past year.  All of our friends from freshman year were in town for a mini reunion (thanks Annie!).  There couldn’t have been a better time to celebrate than with our amazing friends who have been there with us since day one of our journey 4.5 years ago!  Thank you to all of you who were there with us to celebrate.  I am very blessed to have the most amazing man to spend the rest of my life with and we are both very blessed to have really amazing friends.

So I decided that I was going to start looking for birthday present ideas tonight. Even though my birthday isn’t till September I was bored and needed something to occupy my night.
