Gerald Donald’s post-drexciya work is a bit hit-and-miss in places, but there’s some real gems amongst his vast back catalogue. This is a good one:

Whitest Boy Alive – Rules

Great album; full of fender rhodes, and all the tracks are very uptempo, almost verging on funky house, in a funny way. This track, “Courage” is probably the stand-out track, I just love Erlend Øye’s voice.

Empire Of The Sun – Walking On a Dream

Hot on the heals of MGMT, EOTS have a great, funky, retro sound. Lots of good strong tracks, one of those albums you can just slap on, knowing that there’s no need to skip past any duds. This track, “Half Mast”, is a bit of a grower - unapologetically cheesy but great all-the-same.

Easily the best drum & bass track released so far this year – absolutely exhilarating, gorgeous remix from the man like Break.

Takagi Masakatsu is a multimedia artist who resides in Kyoto, Japan. With no storyboard or script, he records everyday life and manipulates the images to create pieces with strong emotional character. Originally trained as a classical pianist, Masakatsu produces the music in his videos and plays live when he presents his video installations. Girls was created in 2003 and has always remained one of my favorites. The piano, the colors, the children and the outdoor scene always create a captivating atmosphere no matter how many times I watch it.
