เพราะว่า รถแข่งมันไต่กำแพง ไต่เพดานได้ค่ะ เราจึงสามารถบังคับให้วิ่งไปวิ่งมาอยู่ในผนังบ้านเราได้ ถึงบ้านเราจะรกระเกะระกะยังไง (ยังไงเสีย-ซีว่าจัดบ้านให้เรียบร้อยก่อนจะดีที่สุดนะคะ) ผนังบริเวณที่มือเอื้อมไม่ค่อยถึง ก็คงไม่ค่อยจะมีอะไรวางเกะกะหรอกจริงไหม? เพราะฉะนั้น จึงเอารถแข่งมาวิ่งได้สบายเรย

วิธีเล่น ง่ายสุดๆค่ะ อธิบายด้วยภาพยังพอเลย ก็คือ ในกล่องมีปืนยิงแสงสีแดงๆมาให้ค่ะ ไม่ได้ให้เอาไปเล่นกับหมาข้างถนน และก็ไม่ได้ให้เอาถือออกไปวันสงกรานต์ด้วย

ให้เอาส่องพื้นที่บริเวณหน้ารถแข่งปุ้บ เซนเซอร์ก็จะตรวจพบ “เป้า” แล้วก็จะวิ่งไ่ล่ทันทีเลย หรือ ถ้าเจอทางตัน ก็เอาแสงส่องพื้นที่บริเวณด้านหลังรถ เซนเซอร์ด้วที่อยู่ด้านหลังรถทำงาน ปั้บรถก็จะกลับลำยูเทิร์นมาหาแสงอีกที

Yep, I modified the back with several paint jobs to make it look like it sports a small diffuser and spoiler as well as the tail lights look like evo 9’s.

I remember back in the days, when custard pudding used to be only about the height and width of a baseball. Now, Takara Tomy has created a MONSTER version of that– yes, the GIGA PUDDING. The Giga Pudding is pretty much the equivalent of 20 original puddings but in one gigantic pudding. In fact, it’s so big that you need a bucket to make it in, but wait, that isn’t amazing yet–the outcome is as big as a normal child head (according to the commercial).

Ohohoho, Japan, you never cease to amuse me. I bet this thing could last for 3 meals for me XP

Depois da última invenção lançada pelos japoneses na feira de brinquedos de Tóquio, realizada em agosto deste ano, ninguém mais será chamado de louco por conversar com cachorros. O aparelho Bowlingual Voice, fabricado pela empresa Takara Tomy, é capaz de traduzir o latido do bichinho de estimação.

Quando ele late, um microfone acoplado na coleira detecta seis estados emocionais como alegria, irritação, tristeza e vontade de brincar . Além de aparecer no display do aparelho um ícone que representa o sentimento, uma voz gravada, em inglês ou japonês , também diz a tradução.

O Bowlingual Voice começará a ser vendido no Japão a partir de outubro por cerca de R$ 400. O fabricante planeja lançar em breve uma versão melhorada do produto.

I’ve been crazy about the silly light box but even though there are tutorials about its simple construction, I cannot put my money into it. I do have the camera and the light but not the peripherals to concentrate the light to the subject. However, I received a brighter lamp and tested this kind of photoshoot using scratch papers. The result is a semi-dark or a bit underexposed despite setting the camera to Aperture-priority and then setting the exposure to +1. The resulting photos were bluish since it’s dark time already and the only thing lighting up the subjects is the bright study lamp. Despite these instances, I brought up another paper facing the camera side to focus the light to the center. After shooting the pictures, I edited them using Adobe Photoshop, adjusting the color balance, brightness and contrast. Here are the results:

I’ve been out of the groove of Q-steer since hell weeks came. But I’m back. I’m starting to get the other cars I need such as the first Nissan Skyline R34 Bayside Blue. Well, an upcoming chassis is coming and it now bears the Choro-Q name. Cheers.

Plan for tomorrow is to make a temporary circuit using the largest illustration board that can be purchased from National Bookstore. Also, I’ll need to buy more boards and white cartolina so that I can test that silly home-made white box for photography.

Inventores japoneses desenvolveram um gadget que pode detectar as emoções dos cães no primeiro latido. Chamado de Bowlingual Voice, o aparelho, da fabricante de brinquedos Takara Tomy, analisa a acústica dos sons do cachorro e traduz os resultados em palavras.

Segundo o site do jornal britânico The Telegraph, o gadget se concentra em seis emoções, incluindo tristeza, alegria e frustração. Cada emoção é associada a frases como “brinque comigo”.

O aparelho será vendido no Japão no mês de agosto por cerca de R$ 406.

Quando o cachorro late, um microfone embutido na coleira do mascote capta e grava o som e envia os dados da análise ao dispositivo portátil do dono, do tamanho de um celular. Neste aparelho ocorre a tradução do latido para o que o cão parece querer “dizer”.

É possível deixar o aparelho gravando as informações sobre o cão para conferir em outro momento, caso o dono esteja ausente, por exemplo.

Uma primeira versão do aparelho, lançada há três anos, foi comprada por mais de 300 mil pessoas no Japão.

«©NCSX» We saw a pimp once. Just once. This was way before New York  cleaned up Times Square and made it the tourist haven that it is today. Back then, Times Square was seedy, dirty, and surly. If you weren’t careful, you were liable to catch a glimpse of a bona fide pimp. Maybe even two of them. It was probably a Friday when the sighting happened but there he was. Natty suit, a brown but stylish hat, sunglasses at night, and the shoes. Crocodile shoes. Shoes that glittered like shoes never glittered before.

Crocodile leather is generally an expensive proposition which is why it’s normally only found in special circumstances. Imagine our awe when Takara Tomy started preorders for their Slip-on DSi Crocodile Leather case for the measly fee of JPY1047 each. NCS thought back to the pimp sighting and knew that our Nintendo DSi would soon be encased in something glittery and shiny… like an NDSi never glittered or shined before. This is only a small modification so I won’t be posting this together with the other tutorials. This is just painting the diffusers of the cars I have and only two popped out with obvious diffusers namely the Evo X and Impreza.

I was looking at these cars when I noticed that the whole car is red or blue for the scooby. I wanted to put some detail on the cars. I wished to start on the panel lines but I dont have a fine marker, 0.1 mm point to be exact. So I went to another part and I noticed the diffusers.  I took both cars and took some shots before they were modified:

So, you can see the diffuser at the pictures. For those who don’t know, diffusers are seen under the car’s bumper to improve the air flow underneath the car, thus making it improve the aerodynamics. Though it’s not used as an aerodynamic component for Q-steer. So to get them look like diffusers which is usually dark and not shiny, I used these:

A Black plastic paint can from Tamiya and Flat Finish from Mr. Hobby! The black paint, of course, will color the diffuser black and the Flat Finish will make the diffuser not shiny or have a matte surface.

But before I get happy spraying stuff, I needed to cover the parts that do not need painting. I used one of the hidden hobby masking tapes at the house and I find them more effective than conventional masking tapes that you can buy in bookstores.

It’s not enough to just cover the places around the diffuser or else it will have the whole body a different color. It is also not ideal to use masking tape all over so what I did:

I taped the cars with small pieces of paper. After checking the predictions of not painting other parts of the body, I started spraying some paint. Really scary, though. You can’t tell if the paint only goes to the parts you want it to go. After drying the paint for a few moments, I sprayed the Flat Coating and this is how it turned out:

Tada! Now the diffusers look realistic! Heheheh~! There you go!

Takara Tomy, the parent of Tomix has issued a new N scale toy train set. This weeks Hobby Search model train newsletter included an item called Q Train which is listed as 1/150 N Scale (and found in the Radio Control section of the Hobby Search web site). These are small trains that have a similarity to the Bandai B trains. Each section is 3 cm long. The cars can run on an ordinary table top, but I have seen video of the Q Train running on track. A battery powered controller is included with each train.

Here is a Japanese language promotional video that helps define this item.

Q Train is a neat little toy, but it should not be confused as a scale model train when ordering from Japan.

«©NCSX» UFOs or Unidentified Flying Objects aren’t really that rare above the canyons of New York City. A seagull way up yonder is unidentified until it’s identity is confirmed with a pair of binoculars. If the literal definition of a UFO is accepted, then we have seen such a object that we couldn’t identify. It was summer a few years ago and the skies were bluer than the bluest eyes. At first it looked like a thick length of rope that was airborne but that didn’t make any sense. Ropes don’t fly do they? As we watched it cross the sky above us, the rope repeatedly changed shape from a loop to a double loop to U-shaped object and back again. The UFO was in our field and scope of vision for about 2 minutes before it sailed off into the horizon and became an itty-bitty speck in the distance. We dubbed it “Sky Worm” but it was probably some sort of manmade contrivance or maybe even a weird kite that got loose.
Takara Tomy released a contrivance last September in Japan that they called the “QFO.” The Q refers to the “Q” series of toys in the Takara universe such as Choro Q. The QFO is constructed of two main parts:

1) A lightweight motor that powers an underside rotor
2) A Styrofoam frame which is fitted around the motor/rotor assembly

The motor is lightweight and small but it’s loud. We’d liken it to the sound a mosquito makes when it buzzes near your ear but amplified through a megaphone. A handheld IR remote is included in the package which recharges the QFO and controls it with a simple lever that adjusts the power of the motor. You’ll need to charge the QFO for about 30 minutes before using it which is good enough for roughly 12 minutes of flight. We found that maximum power is required to get the QFO airborne but once it’s flying around, little nudges on the lever can keep it in the air. When it dips too low, give it a shot of maximum power to get it zooming upwards again. Note that there is no directional remote control for the QFO but the little device doesn’t just move up and down. As the rotor and the frame of the QFO interacts with the air currents in the room, it’ll veer left and right as it flies. We’ve also gotten our QFO to move in a circular motion a few times but by accident, not by design. All in all, the QFO is an interesting little toy that is conducive to experimentation and trial/error. Four color variants are available – Gold, Silver, Blue, and Red at US$28.90 each.

«©NCSX» Back in 2003, Taito celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Space Invaders by releasing a replica of the Space Invaders tabletop game which was really a controller container which held a Dual Shock 2. It was highly collectible and NCS eventually sold out after keeping original inventory for 6 years. Taito shipped a boatload of Space Invaders products last year to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the franchise. This year, the 31st Anniversary of Space Invaders doesn’t have the same cachet but that’s not stopping Taito from keeping the Invaders merchandising train rolling.

NCS will stock the Space Invaders Game Bank next week which is an official product from Takara Tomy. Players who insert a 100-yen coin in the coin slot will get to play a round of Space Invaders that’s fairly faithful to the original from the sounds to the shields to the included color cellophane overlay. The game bank measures W200 x H105 x D95mm (7.87 x 4.13 x 3.74″) in area and is listed as 1/6 scale on Takara’s preorder sheet.

A 100-yen coin measures 2.26cm in diameter so the closest approximation that we have here in the USA is a nickel which spans 2.12cm. The nickel is slightly thicker at 1.95mm versus 1.75mm for the 100-yen coin but if there’s an issue with coin thickness, we’ll import a bag of 100-yen coins for our customers who purchase the game bank and include one with every order at no extra charge.  We’ll throw up a proper review and photos once we get a chance to check the bank out. Preorders are welcome to ship on March 26 at JPY5800 or US$70.90 from NCS.

This post remains here since it’s not going to be long. I just want to clear things that this is not a tutorial since the process of converting this body is simple the same as the basic one I posted before. I just want to post this since this is a good body to match one of my Q-steer which is the Lancer Evolution X.

This is how the car looked like before I converted it for Q-steer use. I didn’t had the chance to perform the conversion immediately since I have a lot of requirements to finish back at school.

First, I need to get rid of the screw area of the body by cutting it off, just like my Evo 7. However, the screw area is really tough that when I forced a small part to be removed, the whole half of the screw area went off. I was scared because I thought the hood will be affected but good thing it was not affected.

Second move was to make sure the rear lock would fit nicely so I filed the lock at the rear. Eventually, I got bored and used a Swiss knife to trim the part.

Last but not the least, I had to open up a space for the front mount. It was tiring since I’m using a partially damaged knife, used for Gundam models. but with a bit of effort, tada!

Yes, I started the project last night and it was a nightmare. Before I started, though, I backed up the project by buying my first 32g tube of Tamiya Putty white. Just in case I screw up with the body. So I started doing the very basic step which is trimming. I also have the idea in my mind that the front spoiler of the body is not on the body itself but rather on the Choro-Q chassis. So I have t unmount the front spoiler permanently. There are other problems:

1. THE VERY BIG ONE : The terminals used for the motor soldered on the IC were hitting the window area of the body.

2. It seems that the whole body will not make it to the front mount. In short, the body is short.

SOLUTION TO:

1. I have to dig up some space on the area of that window and to get rid of punching a hole, I also have to sand the terminals of the motor. The only worry I have is that the terminals might not work as I might detach the soldered lead from the terminals.

2. This is due to (1). It took me the whole three hours from 9pm to 12am just to get the body lined-up properly

PROBLEM 3: Even if I made the body lined-up properly with the wheels fitting the wheel wells just fine, the front mount of the chassis might be too long for the body

SOLUTION TO (3) – I trimmed the lower part of the front according to the shape of the chassis mount. It fits well now. The only problem I have is how am I going to mount the spoiler without breaking it when I remove and mount the body.

I’ll post some pictures soon.

I am still thinking about how am I going to mount this complicated body onto the Q-steer chassis, For one thing, see that front spoiler/ front skirt? That’s not with the body but with the Choro-Q chassis and there’s also a lot of space in front which means it might not hit the Q-steer chassis front mount since the body’s front side is too far from it.

So I think it’s time to fiddle with body molding or creating and modifying body shape using the same method as the one in real cars. Yup, but I’m not going to use the materials used for cars, it’s too heavy and might destroy the light plastic material. I can buy the epoxy in hardware stores but those are for hard plastics. Eventually I found these:

Tamiiya’s Epoxy Putty and Putty White. The epoxy putty it the one I’m going to use for creating the mount for the RX-7 and the White Putty is for finishing touches. I can also make my own bodykits which can be snapped on but that’s kind of too much for now. I’ll see how the project goes and then I’ll modify my own bodykits. (I will get another RX-7 and make it look like Keisuke’s RX-7!! hahahahah!)

Yep, two Choro-Qs were given to me as Christmas presents from my beloved barkada during the famous UP Lantern Parade. It was a Bayside Blue Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 and a Silver Honda NSX-R. I was planning on modifying them so that I will be able to mount them on the R/C Chassis Q-steer but I think the sentimental value of these cars led me to a conclusion not to do so.
