Gareth and Hannah were married 3 years ago, and for their anniversary we spent the afternoon and evening with them in Aberystwyth snapping away on one of our Take 2 sessions. (We’re one of the few photographers in Wales doing ‘Trash the Dress’ style sessions)

In the past our Take 2 sessions have been on beaches and cliffs, so it was nice to explore a town for suitable locations. And Aberystwyth has loads of ‘em. And Gareth and Hannah are such a fantastic, happy couple that they were up for anything… as you’ll see!

The sunset at the castle was stupendous, so we rushed on down to the beach to eek out the last few drops of sunlight.

Then it was out on the town – starting with The Arcade on The Pier.

The deserted train station has great light, and Hannah and Gareth didn’t mind getting a little mussed up. After all, when else might they wear these togs?!

Finally, time for some good old Fish and Chips.

And in a parody of the American tradition of mushing one another with wedding cake….!

David has committed 2 crimes that, according to the Law of God, are completely unforgivable; adultery and murder. Should his sins/crimes be revealed, there would be one option: death by stoning.

Time passes (probably about a full year), and Nathan approaches David, confronting him with his sin in a powerful preachers illustration. Time seems to stand still, and the King repents. Yes, there are consequences as David and Bathsheba have to deal with the horrific trauma of an infant lost. Yes the story is suddenly very positive… and that can leave a bad taste in my mouth. Quite frankly, there are times when I get to this point in the story and feel almost bitter, just because it’s so unfair!

Two things must be remembered. One, God’s mercy is “unfair.” It is totally undeserved, and it is something I am totally grateful for. Without it, I am damned at best.

Second, we tend to forget that David’s conversation with God is a desperate one. We don’t get that conversation in Samuel, but have to turn to Psalm 51 for David’s prayer for forgiveness. In it, we see that he, like I often do, knows that he is undeserving of forgiveness because, on his best day, he is a sinner. He was born that way, and can never get rid of that nature.

Here’s the part that blows me away. This desperate entreaty, this attitude of begging, this King falling on his face and pleading with a holy God for mercy… this pleases Him. God is made happy with broken and contrite hearts, not grand gifts or grand people. He is happy with weaklings, with miserable failures, because we can only succeed as we beg Him for His help. As we come to Him with humility, admitting with our lips what our lives have demonstrated so many times, God is glorified. I like to think of a smile creeping onto His lips.

Why? Because showing undeserved mercy brings Him joy.

Good thing.

As I reviewed some old posts of mine from a few years ago, a couple stood out to me as just as true today as they ever were. I’ll re-post them, perhaps to remind myself more than anything else.

This post is incredibly timely for me right now.

So, it’s time to work again. I have piles of paper covering my desk, my coffee pot is crying out to me to start it up, my emails are screaming for attention, and the little red light on my phone is reminding me of the perhaps dozens of people I need to call back today. I haven’t looked at my calendar to see what has been added since I left yesterday, there are people walking by my office, almost like vultures, looking ready to dive in at any time. I don’t want to be here today.

I’d much rather be sleeping, lounging, golfing, hunting… I would actually even rather just be reading for the sake of reading, instead of digging out of the minutia. However, this morning, God slapped me around a bit with His Word. Great…that’s what I needed, right? He used Psalm 84.10 to make me stop and think about what I am doing…

I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.

The thing that jumped at me wasn’t that I “serve in the house of my God,” although I could argue I do. It was the Psalmist attitude of complete gratefulness for being used at all. The privilege, the blessing, the honor of being able to be anywhere near Him, that my service to Him wouldn’t make him sick, that it would somehow be accepted…. I should be unemployed.

To the piles I go, after the coffee is done…

Tom White (student of Georgina Hill-Brown & Take 2, in Barnsley) started recording his first ever album last night at Splash Studio’s in Knottingley, West Yorkshire with the ‘quite brilliant’ Dylan Charles. Tom sung ‘Empty chairs and empty tables’ like a pro and then went onto sing ‘Lost’ by Michael Buble and ‘This is the moment’ from Jekyl and Hyde.

The album recording continues next week, so watch this space for more.

Ever since I first got my hands on Bioshock, I was amazed by the under water metropolis that is Rapture. I mean who wouldn’t be? Who ever crafted such an in depth and amazing city deserves a medal in my book.

Early FPS fans can look back to retro games to see were Bioshock got some of its inspiration. Let me take you back to 1994. Your in a space station, the year is 2072 and you are a hacker following the words of  an AI known as SHODAN. I’m talking about System Shock. This was the first 3D shooter of its kind. Back in ‘94 you still had Doom II as one of the top shooters. Anyway so you are following the AI’s every word trying to save her, until midway through the game she turns on you, she is the one who has been controlling all the evil on the space station since the start of the game. Sound familiar? Well for those of you who have played Bioshock (and please for those of you who have not look away now) Doesn’t SHODAN remind you a little bit of Frank Fontain?

For those of you who Haven’t played Bioshock, would you kindly keep reading from here on now please.

Bioshock 2 is just around the corner, and Rapture has a new threat, in the form of a sleeker more mobile, more agile creature. This creature by far in a new challenge for the colossal big daddies and she goes by the name of… Big Sister.

“Mr. B, Mr. B… Big Sister doesn’t want you playing with me…“

Who is this big sister? Well if you remember the good ending of Bioshock 1 (and if you haven’t played the first you shoul…… come to think of it why are you reading this?) Jack, brought back a load of little sisters from the underwater world so they could grow up as proper human girls. However one of the little sisters was infatuated with Rapture, she saw it as her home and so has gone back. Through exploring Rapture she has found materials to make her own metal suit and now goes by the name of the Big Sister.

So with this new threat what is Rapture going to do? You would think a little sister returning home would be a good thing right? Wrong! She is stealing all the little sisters and giving the big daddies a run for their money, and to top that off a new form of genetically enhanced splicers have been running a muck. This is seven years after the events of Bioshock 1, and Jack didn’t really kill all the splicers, in fact he didn’t save all the little sisters either.

So what the heck do you do against such an awesome power? I mean she has extensive knowledge of the place and is pretty much the most dangerous enemy that Bioshock has to offer. Hell she has effectively taken the place of Andrew Ryan and Frank Fontain and pretty much runs Rapture. The only way to stop this new threat is to look back and revive an old friend….The first Big Daddy.

That’s right, in this Bioshock outing you play as the first big daddy ever created. At your disposal you will be able to wield, the huge one arm drill, the supped up rivet gun and (this is the cool part) you will be able to walk, and explore underwater. This element opens up so much more to Rapture, and that’s not all. In Bioshock 1 you only explored a tiny bit of the city, Bioshock 2 promises more exploration inside and out. Making this a pretty divers platform for  the FPS genre.

Right so the big daddy has all its normal big daddy things like the drill and the rivet gun. But as you are the first big daddy you have plasmids at your disposal. That’s right, a big daddy with plasmids, you can do the whole flame thrower trick, freezing people etc etc. But in some cases you will have to use your plasmids tactically. One of your key objectives here is to find little sisters, once found you can choose to adopt or harvest, a lot like Bioshock 1. Choosing adopt you have the little sister sitting on your shoulder and you have to find bodies for her to harvest the ADAM. So you find a body, great, now here is where your tactical plasmids come in. As soon she is down she is venerable to splicer attack, so you can combine plasmids to set up traps. Whirlwind trap with fire for instance. This gives you a great opportunity to play around with the plasmids. They are also upgradeable this time round. Level 1 incinerate see you throw small fire balls, Level 3 on the other hand sees you throw a huge stream of flame.

It seems to me that Bioshock 2 has a lot to offer fans of the previous game. But at the same time welcomes newcomers with a story that doesn’t really depend on the events of Bioshock 1, but it would be a nice addition to at least know about it before digging into Bioshock 2 I think.

Bin heute von meinem Köln-Trip wiedergekommen. Habe die Games Convention Gamescom besucht. Am Vormittag konnte man sich auch ganz gut durch die Hallen bewegen, gegen Nachmittag wurde es dann aber doch etwas voller. Ansonsten: Wer schon mal auf der Games Convention war, der wird in Köln nicht viel Neues entdecken. An manchen Ständen herrschten Wartezeiten direkt aus der Hölle (passt ja ganz gut zu Diablo 3).

Well, get out the white umbrellas, relax and enjoy it. It doesn’t matter one bit. But if afterwards you feel there were photos you had your heart set on and missed out on, you could consider taking more photos on another day!

Lisa and Gary’s post-wedding photo session

We had an absolutely fabulous ‘Take Two’ session with Lisa and Gary recently at Mwnt. Their wedding day was very wet and although on the day it did nothing to dampen their spirits, we all wanted to have another go at capturing them in their finery in their gorgeous wedding location.

Beyond that though, the post-wedding shoot is about getting all sorts of pictures that aren’t possible on the wedding day. Like climbing all the way to the top of the hill…

…and posing on the very top rock!

Or going down the cliffs…

…on to the beach…

…and into the water!

Lisa is planning to cut off her dress at the knee and keep it as a party dress so this was a great opportunity to use it as it is one more time – with no holds barred!! A session like this is a fantastic way to really ENJOY being in your wedding dress, without having to worry about it needing to stay clean for the rest of the wedding.

This session also meant we could make use of some lovely sunset light, which wouldn’t have been possible on the wedding day.

SirPayne – Wiedermal riesiger Trouble rund um den Veröffentlichungstermin des Spiels Mafia 2. Würde man der Angabe eines Onlinehändlers glauben, würde das Spiel bereits am 25. September 2009 erscheinen.

Dagegen spricht allerdings die erst kürzlich von Publisher Take 2 getroffene Aussage, dass Mafia 2 erst irgendwann im Zeitraum November 2009, aufwärts auf den Markt kommen wird.

I almost was gonna skip posting something today because I just haven’t been feeling much like writing these days. Everywhere there is drama and fights going on around me it seems like. My own thoughts tear me up and then the drama makes me feel even worse on top of that all. Sometimes I wonder why people can’t just shut their mouths and stop while they are ahead. Recently I’ve been standing up to my dad. He always comes homes, half plastered or on his way there, and yells at me to do this or that and says I don’t ever do enough to help out with the family. So instead of letting him walk all over me I’ve been forcing him to actually ask me to do something and not just command. Basically I’ve been forcing him to treat my like a human and his son instead of a slave labor kid that just happens to be living with him. So that’s been causing a lot of problems and random fights among everyone in the house here.

Also currently it is storming outside my window and I love it. The rain always makes me feel good, it’s like all the bad things and drama are being washed away just like the dirt and messes outside. The thunder and lightning is also kind of symbolic of all the turmoil in our personal lives and the world at large.

Finally for today, I wanted to post a list of books that I would be discussing in the coming weeks once I continue my movie posts sometime tomorrow. The books I will be talking about are; Almost Like Being in Love by Steve Kluger, Thinking Straight by Robin Reardon and Clay’s Way by Blair Mastbaum. Until then check out these books if you’d like and I’ll be hitting on them later on this week or next week.

Well the other day Arkane Studios, the folks behind Dark Messiah, were announced as the fourth developer on Bioshock 2 (A long with 2K Marin, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes). Apparently they were just working on level design and a few gameplay elements to make sure Bioshock 2 is the game that they want it to be. However it looks like it could have been due to Bioshock 2 not being on track as it’s been delayed until Fiscal 2010 (November – November). As well as delaying Bioshock 2, Take Two have delayed Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption to Fiscal 2010.

Or Take Two could be scared of (Call of Duty:) Modern Warfare 2. At least they have a good lineup for next year.

Take 2 ha da poco dichiarato che il secondo capitolo di bioshock, previsto per fine 2009, arriverà invece entro la prima parte dell’anno 2010 per dare modo ai programmatori di migliorare ulteriormente il gioco ed inserire nuovi extra. Purtroppo non ci resta che attendere la data precisa che arriverà quindi nel 2010.

Title says it all. Take Two announced today that Bioshock 2 would officially be delayed until fiscal 2010. “We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve”, a quote from the original press release indicates a less than optimal performing game.
Take-Two later clarified that Bioshock 2 would see the light of day sometime in the first half of 2010. Official press release can be found here.

So, Nancy finally made her return. And she just keeps escaping by the skin of her teeth. So, the big cliffhanger from last season has been answered Ms. Botwin is indeed with child. Poor, poor kid! Nancy will now have a third kid to ruin. Anyway…Andy finally confesses his love for her only to be shocked by her announcement which sends him into a fast depressed state.

We catch up with Celia still held by Quinn and her very hot Latin lover. Too hot for Quinn, but whatever. After making more than a few calls to everyone who knows Celia, they soon discover everyone stateside could care less what happens to her. Sorry, Celia, they should have called Pam. The two crazies then decide to kill Celia and sell her organs, but after learning of her breast cancer, Quinn freaks out and decides to beat her mother to death instead. Good plan, but hot Latin man stops it and rids himself of Quinn. Could this be Celia’s new dude?

Meanwhile, Esteban drags NanNan to a doctor to find out if she really is pregnant and basically lets her know, love has definitely been lost and it’s all about the bebé. After announcing she’s preggers to her very upset fam, she sends Shane to live with this new sister character that we’ve never heard about. Hot jailbait Silas and Doug go to the dessert to plant more pot. You know these people really should take some classes at Ren Mar U or something.

Overall a fairly decent season opener, I still keep waiting for Conrad to show up, but it was nice to see Sanjay. What did you think? Theories, comments, groans, moans are welcome.

Scott Miller (с основател на 3D Realms), хвърли малко светлина във връзка със заведеното наскоро дело, в което Take-Two Interactive твърдя, че са инвестирали над 12 милиона долара в Duke Nukem Forever.
Всъщност се оказва, че през 2000 година, Take-Two са платили 12 милиона долара на Infogrames за правата по издаването на DNF. 3D Realms обаче не са получили нито пени от тези пари, и точно за това не смятат да връщат каквото и да е.

Scott Miller опроверга и другият слух, според който Take-Two са им предложили 30 милиона долара за правата върху играта, но 3D Realms били отказали. “Щяхме да се възползваме без колебание”, ако това щеше да ни даде възможност да завършим DNF, е коментара му по темата.

Та в общи линии извода е – Take-Two са откупили правата от Infogrames и ние няма да им връщаме нищо, и не, никой не ни е давал 30 милиона за играта… ако беше щяхме да се възползваме

Съдбата на Duke става все по неясна…
