Wonder: a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar or inexplicable

Wall: a continuous vertical brick or stone structure that encloses or divides an area of land. something perceived as a protective or restrictive barrier.

“Today is gonna be the day that they’re gonna throw it back to you

by now you shoulda somehow realized what you gotta do

I don’t believe anybody feels the way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk are winding

and all the lights that lead us there are blinding

Because maybe you’re gonna be the one that saves me

and after all you’re my wonderwall.“

I’ve realized what “I gotta do.” Run to my wonderwall (my protector, my strong tower, the one who leaves me in awe and wonder at His love and forgiveness). Run to Jesus. Because that is where I find healing and I trust Him “because You’re gonna be the one that saves me.” He is the one that makes “all the lights that lead [me] there are blinding.” He brings light to the darkness (1 John 1:5). God is so blinding that Moses literally glowed when he left the presence of the Lord (Exodus 34:29). He makes a way in the wilderness: “Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:18-19). He wants me to get to the place where He wants me and to do what “I gotta do” because He knows what is best and causes all things to work for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28). He loves me like no nobody else does. So, that’s where I’m running today. To the foot of the cross where I lay it all down and ask Him to “take it all” because I trust Him. He’s my wonderwall.

It is quite interesting to notice nowadays that the style of praise and worship of this young genera

It is quite interesting to notice nowadays that the style of praise and worship of this young generation are very much influence by Hillsong and Hillsong United. Church music team, campus fellowship and other Christian youth organization are so much engaged to the style of music of this Australian-based praise and worship team. Well, personally as a member of a church band, most of our lineup came from Hillsong albums. The songs like Tell the World, One Way, What the World will Never Take, Take it All, Salvation is Here and Solution, From God Above, to name a few are very powerful and inspiring to play and will really make you dance. Through it All, From the Inside Out, Lord of Lords, At the Cross, Ocean Will Part, Mighty to Save, Saviour King, are some of the worship songs that my band really loves to play. The messages of these songs are very powerful and amazing. The choices of words of the songwriters are very worshipful and meaningful personally to me.

Hillsong’s style of music not only inspires bible-believing church and organization but as well as people who search for the true meaning of life. Every wording and stanzas of the songs are very awesome that tells how the Lord really loves His people. The praise and worship team Joel Houston, Reuben Morgan, Marty Sampson, and Darlene Zschech to name a few are very effective in leading the church in worship. In their testimony, they said that, “Life is all about worshipping the Lord. That is the reason why we exist in this world. Because of this reason we should always strive our best to glorify the Lord in all aspect of our lives, whether you are in the ministry or workplace.”

But even they are very successful in leading the congregation in worship; we should be reminded that Hillsong should not be the one to glorify and idolize. Let us be reminded that God used them in order to become an inspiration for every person, with different experiences in life. Let’s just thank the Lord because he used people like Hillsong solely for the glory of His Name.

By Clay W. Ginn – Back in 1995, sitting in my dorm room at college, one of my friends came in

By Clay W. Ginn – Back in 1995, sitting in my dorm room at college, one of my friends came in and said “You’ve gotta hear this band! They’re awesome!” He yanks out whatever was in my CD player at the time, tosses it aside, and sticks in a disc by a group of guys I’d never heard of. They had a distinctive sound, at least compared to what was on the Christian scene at the time. While so many bands have come and gone in the subsequent years, Third Day has continued to grow musically, spiritually, and in popularity. Three Grammy awards, 23 Dove awards, 10 studio albums, and 13 years later the Georgia-based band release their 11th album, Revelation.

The first half of this album rocks. “This Is Who I Am” is a raucous kick-start to the album, relying on hard-strumming acoustic guitar, heavy drums, and the electric sound so many are used to hearing. The next track, “Slow Down”, brings the Revelation train back a gear, but not by much. This song, which also features Chris Daughtry, is a well-crafted plea that all of us could heed, to slow down and let God take over.

“Call My Name”, released back in April as a single, is mellow and melodic, while maintaining a solid guitar backbone. It plays out like a love song from Jesus to us. Hard-driving drums introduce “Run To You”, steadily keeping time to this discordant and quite beautiful song. The title track, “Revelation”, begins with a piano solo, but is quickly joined by the rest of the band. “Give me a revelation/I’ve got nothing without you” is the central theme of the song, asking God for a fresh view of His grace. Closing out the first half of the album is “Otherside”, a bluesy, Clapton-esqe tune that reminds me a great deal of the song “Blackbird” from their 1995 major label debut.

The second half of Revelation eases up off the throttle, retaining the classic Third Day sound, but with a lighter quality. “Let Me Love You” is a breezy, radio-ready love song, which would probably get heavy airplay on mainstream radio. The catchy “I Will Always Be True” has the same basic qualities as the previous song, with just a little harder edge. Not that it’s a bad song, it’s just odd that two songs with such similarities would be back-to-back on the album. “Born Again”, a duet with Flyleaf’s Lacey Mosely, describes a journey from the realization by the singer that he isn’t a good as he thought he was, to the feeling of being born again.

Bluegrass makes an appearance in “Give Love”, which gives way to “Caught Up In Yourself”, a steady, almost James Bond-sounding cautionary tale to those of us who have a hard time surrendering ourselves to God. “Ready” returns Third Day to their rock roots, driving the album steadily to its final song, “Take It All”. Nearly a praise chorus, the lyrics are a plea to God to “Take it all/Cause I can’t take it any longer/With all I have/I can’t make it on my own/Take the first, take the last/Take the good and take the rest/Here I am, all I have/Take it all”.

Overall, Revelation is a good album. The music is a maturation of the classic Southern rock Third Day is known for to something more modern, all while maintaining their identity. Topped with Mac Powell’s inimitable voice, Third Day has the ingredients for another hugely popular and artistic album. The only complaint that I have is that it seemed to get down into a rut in the middle of the disc. Revelation is a worthy addition to your music collection whether you are a old Third Day fan or a new one.

Aquele vazio no coração? Então só o Amor de Jesus consegue preenche-lo!!! Nunca esqueça disto !!

Coloco aqui um video muito legal e alegre, os denhos do video são hilários haha demora uma pouco para carregar mas vale a pena !! Hillsong United -Take It All Fico por aqui hoje um forte abraço !! MarJP

lyrics:
Take It All
by Hillsong United
album: United We Stand (2006)

Searching the world
The lost will be found
In freedom we live
As one we cry out
You carried the cross
You died and rose again
My God
I’ll only ever give my all

You sent Your Son
From heaven to earth
You delivered us all
It’s eternally heard
I searched for truth
And all I found was You
My God
I’ll only ever give my all

Jesus we’re living for Your Name
We’ll never be ashamed of You
Whoa o oh
Our praise and all we are today
Take take take it all
Take take take it all

Running to the One
Who heals the blind
Following the shining light
In Your hands
The power to save the world

I’ll only ever give my all.

I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around this lyric and it just doesn’t work. I’ve been listening to Hillsong United’s Take It All non-stop for the last week. Musically I love this song, but I’ve been having trouble trying to reconcile the lyrics with what I know to be true about God. Until today, I was reading some blogs and I think I’m a little closer.

Warning: Thinking out loud post ahead. I may be wrong and I reserve the right to change my mind.

Sarah, first pointed it out to me by asking,

Are we really never ashamed of Jesus?

The Hillsong United lyrics “We’ll never be ashamed of You” and “I’ll only ever give my all” don’t seem congruent with non-perfect people. If we were prefect it seems we could sing these lines, but I’ve yet to met a Christian who never made mistake and only ever gave Jesus his all. It seems like at some point even the most authentic Christians give Jesus less than their all.

Bob from In the Clearing writes in Whitmanesque Worship

The reason I need a savior is that I have not loved God with my whole heart. If I say that now I do love him with my whole heart, I needn’t any longer speak of Jesus or long for Him, because in fact I no longer need him.

(ht: Shannon Lewis)

Bob’s argument is that we can’t with a good conscience sing, “I love you Jesus with all my heart” (or possibly even “I’ll only ever give my all.”) because it is a lie.

I disagree with this argument. I think we can sing it truthfully. (Just like the 10 verses of scripture that use “all my heart.”)

God calls us to love him with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. Essentially to love God will all that we are, not simply our minds, but also our emotions and our actions as well. Worship works the same way. It’s multidimensional. So I worship God not only with my mind, but at times I worship God emotionally, even if it doesn’t make sense to my brain.

For example:

I love my wife. I mean I really love my wife more that I ever imagined I could ever love any other person. She is 15,000 times cooler than I even ever imagined a woman could ever be and I’m desperately, passionately, head-over-heals, crazy in love with her. This emotion is so powerful I don’t have words to describe it but I would definitely tell Sarah,

I love you with all my heart.

Do I mean it? 110% If we’re speaking emotionally. Now, in my actions do I love her with all my heart? Not even, close. I’m a pretty second-rate husband sometimes and I am way fortunate that my wife is so gracious. The the statement is true or false based on your perspective. Emotionally, it’s more than true, in action it is not.

How much more do I love God?

So can I logically worship God with my mind and sing “I’ll only ever give my all” ?

No, I don’t think so. That would be a flat out lie.

But emotionally would that line be a decent attempt to describe the indescribable way I feel about God?

Yeah.

Would it start to express what I want to say to God from the inner depths of my soul?

Yeah.

I believe in a huge God that wants to be worshiped with all of me. He’s big enough to be worshiped by my mind and my emotions. He’s even big enough to accept that worship even if I’m not using my mind and my emotions at the same time. If you’re like me when it comes to matters of emotion you start to use hyperbole. You exaggerate more and more trying to express what you feel. It’s not a lie. You fully mean every word of it and God knows that.

I’ll only ever give my all.

Jesus we’re living for your name and we’ll never be ashamed of you.

In our praise. In all we are today.

Take it all.

I mean those words. At least as much as David meant Psalm 26.
