Most Evangelicals are not familiar with the Talmud. It is a collection of writings that contains Jewish historical traditions that go all the way back to the time of Christ.

There are actually some quotes that Christ made that are parallels to those said in the Talmud. This has captured the imagination of many scholars who are looking for more correlations. A long running argument has gone on as to whether Christ borrowed from earlier traditions, or He actually was the originator of them.

The Palestinian Authority has called on the public to boycott several large supermarket chains in the West Bank that carry Israeli products.

The decision targets upscale markets in Ramallah, in an attempt to pressure the stores to discontinue the sale of fruits and vegetables grown and processed in Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

According to the Palestinian authorities, customers are not aware that some of the products are produced in one of over 200 Israeli settlements, built illegally on occupied Palestinian land deemed illegal under international law.

Palestinians consider these settlements the most crucial threat to their aspirations for statehood.

As a result, the Palestinian ministry of economy has announced it will aggressively pursue an already existing law that criminalises trading in settlement products, a move that is widely popular among Palestinians.

Israeli settlement products currently enjoy an estimated 15 per cent share of the Palestinian market, according to the minister of economy.

‘Good move’

Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Ramallah, says the move to ban settlement products from the shelves will take time and require awareness among Palestinian consumers.

Many products made in illegal settlements are on sale in Palestinian supermarkets!

“The government argues that it is through this boycott, that they are now striking back at the illegal settlements – product by product,” she said.

Jamal Juma, a Palestinian activist and coordinator of the Stop the Wall campaign, told Al Jazeera: “If the Palestinian Authority insists on implementing this decision, it means the authority will participate in boycotting one-third of the Israeli products that come to the West Bank.

“This is a very good step to support the Palestinian economy. It will provide the opportunity to improve Palestinians products and solve the unemployment problem.

“The decision will allow Palestinians to say: ‘No to the occupation, we are not going to pay for the bulldozers that destroy our houses and for the bullets that kill our people’.”

Demonstrators have gathered for a second day near the Algerian embassy in Cairo, protesting against attacks on Egyptians during an Algeria-Egypt qualifying match for football’s World Cup finals.

The protest on Friday follows Cairo’s decision to recall its ambassador to Algeria, accusing Algerian fans of thuggery during the match in Sudan on Wednesday – which Algeria won 1-0 to qualify for next year’s World Cup.

The interior ministry warned Egyptians against further protests after 11 police officers and 24 demonstrators were injured in riots near the embassy at dawn on Friday.

About 2,000 demonstrators gathered during the night and many began throwing bottles and stones after a police charge to break up the crowd. Two police vehicles were overturned.

** EDITOR: This is absolutely frightening – myself being a “gentile” even though t

** EDITOR: This is absolutely frightening – myself being a “gentile” even though the traditions I observe are more along the lines of messianic Judaism. There is NO excuse or justification in killing innocent children. And this is one of the very reasons there will never be peace in the Middle East( on the other side of the coin being the radical muslims)**

Source:Matthew Wagner , THE JERUSALEM POST

Copies of a new book that provides justification for the killing of non-Jews could not be found in Jerusalem at the beginning of the week.

At Mercaz Harav Yeshiva, the flagship educational institution of Orthodox Zionism, there was a small sign in the entrance advertising the sale of Torat Hamelech: Dinei Nefashot Bein Yisrael Le’Amim (The King’s Torah: Laws of Life and Death between Jews and the Nations) at a price of NIS 30.

Those interested in buying the book were asked to place money in a small cup and take one.

But the books were gone.

Lior, a young man from Yitzhar, a settlement in Samaria, whose name and telephone number appeared on the advertisement for Torat Hamelech, was surprised at how quickly the books had been sold.

“Really? They’re all gone?” he said, adding that there was no other place in the Jerusalem area or anyplace else besides Yitzhar where the book could be found.

Part of the reason for the interest was a front-page headline in Ma’ariv on Monday outlining the most shocking items from the book, such as halachic license to kill innocent children in battle situations in which their presence endangers Jewish lives, or even if there is concern that these young children will grow to become mortal enemies of Jews.

The timing of the book’s publication might also have something to do with the extensive media exposure it received.

Distribution of the books came just over a week after it became known that Ya’acov Teitel, a settler from Shvut Rahel, had been arrested for allegedly murdering two Palestinians and severely wounding a Christian who belongs to a messianic Jewish community in Ariel.

And even if the students at Mercaz Harav did not hear about the book from Ma’ariv, the subject of killing gentiles, and more specifically Palestinians as part of the ongoing battle against terrorism, is particularly relevant for students at the yeshiva who have served, are presently serving or plan on serving in the IDF.

After all, a large portion of Torat Hamelech is dedicated to exploring Jewish “rules of engagement” according to the authors’ interpretation of Jewish law. For many young men at Mercaz Harav or other Orthodox Zionist yeshivot where IDF service is combined with intense Torah learning, the book could have practical implications for how religious soldiers do battle.

And at Mercaz Harav, it was just over a year ago that a Palestinian Muslim from east Jerusalem shot eight students dead.

Another reason for the potential popularity of the book at Mercaz Harav is that its two authors have connections to the yeshiva. Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira, a student of the eclectic Chabad Rabbi Yitzhak Ginzberg and head of the Od Yosef Hai (Joseph Still Lives) Yeshiva, studied at Mercaz Harav’s high school and spent time at the yeshiva as an older student.

Rabbi Yosef Elitzur, the other author of the book, is the son of Rabbi Michael Hershkovitz, a teacher at Mercaz Harav.

However, it could be that the sudden dearth of copies of Torat Hamelech is for another reason altogether. A librarian at Mercaz Harav said this week that the new book would not be included in the yeshiva’s collection. Apparently, Rabbi Ya’acov Shapira, head of Mercaz Harav (no relation to Yitzhak Shapira), does not approve of the book. It is possible that Mercaz Harav’s head ordered that the books not be sold in the yeshiva. True, the book has received the approbation of Kiryat Arba-Hebron Chief Rabbi Dov Lior, Rabbi Ya’acov Yosef, the son of Shas mentor Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, and Ginzberg. However, these rabbis do not represent the mainstream consensus of religious Zionism.

One surprising exception is Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, a highly respected halachic authority in both haredi and religious Zionist circles, who wrote an endorsement that appeared in the book.

Copies were being distributed on Tuesday at the Yeshiva of the Jewish Idea in Jerusalem, which follows the philosophy of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane.

The response of one leading religious Zionist media figure – which perhaps captures best the more right-wing elements within the religious Zionist mainstream – was dread.

“I grabbed my head when I saw the headline in Ma’ariv,” said the media source who went to school with one of the authors of the book.

“I said to myself we have just managed to contain the media damage done to us by Teitel, by showing he is an isolated element, and now this happens.

“I do not doubt the halachic conclusions of the book,” added the source, “but the way they presented it was all wrong.”

According to the book, gentile noncombatants, including innocent children and babies, can be killed in situations in which their presence endangers, even indirectly, the lives of Jews.

The book cites sources from the Bible, Talmud and later rabbinical literature to argue that the lives of non-Jews are worth less than those of Jews. Therefore, gentiles’ lives can be forfeited if this reduces danger to Jewish lives.

The book opens with the prohibition against killing gentiles. This prohibition is based primarily on the principle that Jews, out of a desire to protect themselves, should not incite non-Jews by killing them.

The killing of non-Jews also causes a desecration of God’s name.

However, the 230-page book goes on to detail cases in which, according to the authors, Halacha permits killing non-Jews, for instance when they endanger, either directly or indirectly, the lives of Jews.

In Halacha there is a term known as “rodef” which refers to an individual attempting to commit murder. In this case the Halacha permits a bystander to use force, even deadly force if necessary, to stop the potential murderer, whether he is Jewish or not.

Shapira and Elitzur write that this holds true of a non-Jew “even when the person with the intent to murder is not doing so in a direct fashion but even in an indirect fashion. A civilian who helps combatants [fighting against Jews] is considered a rodef and it is permitted to kill him.

“Anyone who supports the evil army in any way is a supporter of murderers and is considered a rodef. A civilian who encourages the war gives strength to the [enemy's] king and soldiers to continue the war. Therefore, every civilian in the sovereignty fighting against us that encourages the combatants or expresses his satisfaction with their actions is considered a person with an intent to kill. Therefore, he can be killed. And anyone who weakens our sovereignty with his or her speech is also considered a rodef.”

The authors of the book go on to say that it is permitted to kill minors as well, even if they are innocent, when they are situated in a place that blocks the saving of Jews’ lives. Shapira and Elitzur refer to these minors as “blockers of rescue”

“Little children are often situated in this way,” they write. “They block the rescue of Jews and they do this against their will. Even so, it is permitted to kill them because their very presence facilitates the killing [of Jews].”

The authors also advocate the killing of young children if it is foreseeable that these children will grow up to be enemies of the Jews.

“There is an argument for killing the very young if it is clear that they will grow up to hurt us [Jews]. And in this situation the attack should be directed at them and not just indirectly while attacking adults,” write Shapira and Elitzur.

“It is also permitted to kill the children of the [evil] leader [of the enemy] in order to put pressure on him, if hurting the children will prevent the evil king from acting out his evilness.”

In a chapter titled “Attacking The Innocent” the two say that the main brunt of the war effort should be against those with an intent to kill but even someone who merely belongs to the nation of the enemy is considered an enemy.

The authors also advocate revenge attacks.

“Revenge is an essential [war] need to prove that evil behavior does not pay off.” Therefore, “sometime one must commit ruthless acts that are designed to create the correct element of fear.”

Shapira and Elitzur also argue that individuals can make the decision to kill gentiles on their own.

“One does not need a decision by the nation to permit the spilling of blood of those from the evil empire. Even individuals attacked by the evil sovereignty can retaliate.”

Matthew 23:13-40 (New International Version)

13“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.[a]

15“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

16“Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? 18You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ 19You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it. 22And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.

23“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. 28In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

29“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!

33“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? 34Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.

37“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. 38Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’[b]”

“Egregious Contempt”

I was just banned from a so-called [Roman] “Catholic Answers Forum” for quoting from the Talmud.

In response to someone’s question about whether or not there is really anything anti-Christian inThe Babylonian Talmud (the primary Jewish “holy book”) I read numerous responses like the following:

It is true that, in its original form, the Talmud did contain some passages that forcefully disagreed with Christianity and with the status of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Later such passages were edited by Jewish scholars who feared Christian animosity over the passages. The original passages though must be understood as a non-Christian Jewish assessment of Christianity, not as “blasphemy” or “anti-Christianism.” Indeed, the rabbis who collected the Jewish oral tradition in the Talmud were concerned with protecting the dignity of God.

According to [Jew] David Klinghoffer (a Jewish writer who writes for “First Things” and whom I generally trust to be fair and accurate — author of “Why the Jews Rejected Jesus”), there are nasty references to Jesus as a false prophet in the Talmud and they were censored by medieval Jews because Christians were persecuting Jews.

Accusations often brought against the Talmud are taken out of context. Anti-semites often quote passages from the Talmud expressing hostility to Gentiles. That the rabbis considered Jesus to be a false prophet is upsetting to us but should hardly be surprising. Most of the other stuff people say about the Talmud should be dismissed.

To helpfully counter this ignorance or disinformation, I left a comment citing the Talmudic passages about the sorcerer Jesus having been born to Mary “who played the whore” and conceived Our Lord and Saviour while screwing the best man at her wedding while she was “nidah” (menstruating), and how the Jews killed him and gloat about it, and celebrate their belief that He is being perpetually strangled while boiling in shit and sperm for eternity.

In response to this Christian public service, I received the following Talmudic chastisement:

6 November 2009 19/ Cheshvan 5770

Friends,

Once upon a time, there was a very pious Rabbi who was known for his incredible ability to immerse himself in Torah study. When he opened the Torah and learned from it nothing could interrupt him. And no one dared to disturb him.

Except for one person.

It was his infant grandson who started to cry while the great Rabbi studied. Without hesitation, without any anger, the Rabbi closed the Torah he was studying and rushed to the baby.

While all of this was going on, the child’s father, the Rabbi’s son, was also busy studying Torah. So busy that he failed to hear the cries of his son.

Later that day, the Rabbi had a talk with his son. “No matter how involved one is in an endeavor,” the Rabbi said to his son, “however lofty it may be, one must never fail to hear and respond to one in need. Never!”

In this week’s Torah portion, Abraham is sitting in his tent, recuperating from major surgery. He had just circumcised himself. Imagine how uncomfortable he was! As he sat in his tent, the Torah tells us that God paid a visit to Abraham, appearing before him in the middle of the desert. Quite the honor – getting a visit from God! But, Abraham was a holy man who appreciated God. He was worthy of such a visit.

During the visit something odd happens. Abraham lifts his eyes and sees three men coming to his tent. He runs to them and bows to the ground. He offers them water, a place to rest, food.

Now, some of you know that these three men were actually angels who came with a very important message, but, the fact is, Abraham did not know this. He just assumed they were three men wandering the desert.

Given this, you might say: “Abraham, you’ve got some chutzpah – some nerve! You were being visited by God and you stood up, left God, and ran to three people who you had never met? Abraham you totally insulted God!?”

However, the Talmud, the great book of Jewish law, interprets Abraham’s actions very differently: it says “greater than receiving God is the mitzvah of receiving others.” In other words, it was right for Abraham to leave God hanging in order to feed a bunch of strangers.

Maimonides, the great medieval Jewish philosopher, finds it remarkable that as Abraham is communing with God – he was still capable of seeing the three strangers. In the same way, even in the midst of intense study, the great Rabbi was still able to hear the cry of his grandson. Abraham, in pain from circumcision, communing with God, did not lose the ability to be aware of others.

In our world today, we need more people like the great Rabbi and like our patriarch, Abraham. We know of too many stories of people who have allowed desire, greed, and wants to drive them to commit terrible crimes against others. The selflessness of Abraham and the Rabbi are not simply traits that we should admire. They are traits that we must make our own.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Andrew Jacobs

Settlement by stealth belies promises of restraint

Hillary Clinton has praised Israel for its policy on settlers but, the displacements go on

By Donald Macintyre in Jerusalem

Maysaa Al-Kurd has lived all her life in the home her family moved into in 1956. The pomegranate tree standing in the garden was planted by her father when she was still an infant nearly half a century ago. But that hardly reassured her yesterday when she heard the Jewish settlers break into the next-door extension building her brother Nabil built to house his family in 2001.

“I heard the door opened by force,” she said. “And then I heard one of them say: ‘This furniture belongs to whom?’” Later she saw “with my own eyes” a settler breaking a television set. Outside, a refrigerator, cushions and household furniture, apparently removed by the intruders, stood for several hours in the pouring rain. Inside, broken glass could be seen above a stove.

What Ms Kurd, of the inner-city East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah, was hearing at about 10.30am yesterday was the latest in an accelerating series of highly charged and organised moves by settlers into the city’s Arab sector. Armed with a court order saying they own the property, the settlers – about 40, according to Ms Kurd – decided to break in just four days after [America's whore] Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, dismayed Palestinian and other Arab leaders by praising the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “unprecedented” promise of “a restraint” in illegal settlement activity.

Mrs Clinton sought on Monday to “clarify” her remarks by acknowledging that Mr Netanyahu’s proposals fell well short of the settlement freeze the US had earlier called for. And, while Mr Netanyahu has offered temporarily to halt authorisations of new settlement building in the West Bank, he has resolutely set his face against any slowdown in East Jerusalem. The UN says that 194 people were forcibly displaced from their homes in East Jerusalem by evictions and demolitions between January and July of this year. Israel insists it annexed the Arab sector of Jerusalem after the Six-Day War in 1967, but this is rejected by most of the international community who endorse Palestinian aspirations for it to be the capital of a future state. In Amman, the British Foreign Secretary David Miliband expressed “concern” over events at the Kurd house and added: “The current situation is obviously particularly tense in respect of Jerusalem.”

Since a 2001 court order the rooms invaded by the settlers have been closed and used only to store furniture. But for Ms Kurd, whose property is one of at least 24 that settlers are hoping to acquire in this sensitive neighbourhood, their sudden arrival only intensified her fear of losing her home. “We are all worried for the future,” she said, “not just in Sheikh Jarrah but in all East Jerusalem.”

Only last week about a hundred Israeli security personnel arrived to remove a nearby protest tent that the Palestinian Ghawi family had been sleeping in since being evicted in August. That move came 24 hours after bulldozers levelled the homes of six families across East Jerusalem on the grounds they did not have the proper permit. Human rights activists say it is exponentially harder for Palestinians than Israelis to obtain permits.

Another elderly member of Ms Kurd’s extended family, Mohammed al- Kurd, died after being evicted last August from his home and moving into a similar tent to the Ghawi family’s. Like other of his relatives, he had refused to pay rent to the post-1967 Jewish owners, partly, some diplomats say, because they still dispute the historic right of ownership.

Maysaa al-Kurd said that her “life and blood” was in the house. Asked about the settlers’ argument that they have a right to the land because Yemenite Jews lived there before 1948, she added that her own family were 1948 refugees from what was now Israel. “My family are all from Haifa. Can I go there and say I own the house and I have the key? Can I tell the people there that is my house? They will kill me.”

Police stood guard outside the Sheikh Jarrah house while settlers occupied the adjacent building but eventually left on police advice. However two security guards employed by them were still there at the end of the day.

Although the house and its land was allotted to the Palestinian family in 1956 by the UN Relief and Works Agency and Jordan – then in control of the West Bank and East Jerusalem – the Israeli authorities expropriated numbers of properties in the area as state land after 1967 [The stealing of Palestine]. In some cases – apparently including this one – the land was later transferred or sold to companies or organisations representing settlers. None of the departing settlers would speak to reporters, but Adnan Husseini, the Palestinian Authority governor of Jerusalem, said: “The changing position of the American administration led to this.”

Nabil al-Kurd, a father of four children, was summoned from work by his family when the settlers arrived. He was later told by police the settlers would be ordered to stay away pending 10 days in which Mr Kurd could lodge an appeal.

Appeal? We all know how the Nazis will rule.. in favor of their fellow-pig Nazis!

UN Resolution ( GA 181) By Robert Singer

August 29, 1897 Theodor Herzl, the founder of RothIsm at the First Zionist Congress predicted that within fifty years there would be a Jewish state. UN Resolution (GA 181) partitioned Palestine in 1947.

RothIsm is a political movement to encourage, force if necessary, Jews to move to Palestine. All Jews were encouraged; it didn’t matter if you were of Abraham’s seed, you left for Palestine or else.

Herzl picking 1947 as the end of the Diaspora and the return of the Jews to the “Holy Land” is either one of those “bizarre coincidences”, like the same person winning the lottery three weeks in a row, or the partition of Palestine, finalized in 1947, was part of Rothschilds plan for a New World Order, “to effect complete and total control over every human being on the planet and to dramatically reduce the world’s population by two thirds.”

Rothschild’s secret societies, The Bavarian Illuminati, Order of Perfectibilists, the Skull and Bones are no longer classified as prehistoric science fiction and have their origins in the ancient religions and the occult: Jesuits, Knights Templar, Rosicrucians, Freemasons and the Kabbalah.

In 2003, 60 Minutes aired a segment about Alexandra Robbins, staff member at the New Yorker. Robbins, a Yale graduate, penetrated the wall of silence around the Skull and Bones, the American branch of Rothschild’s secret society and authored the best seller Secrets of the Tomb: Skull and Bones, the Ivy League, and the Hidden Paths of Power.

Members of the Skull and Bones include some of the most powerful men of the 20th century.

J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Abraham Kuhn and Solomon Loeb are all connected to the Rothschilds Global financial empire and secret societies. They are members of the Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, France, and Germany or, for that matter, any central bank anywhere in the world.

RothIsm was not-so-secretly funded when Baron Edmond (Binyamin) de Rothschild purchased 90,000 acres in Palestine launching Israel’s future initially as an agricultural society. After the early settlers arrived, they wanted Rothschild to “take his hands from it.” Baron Edmond responded, “I created the Yishuv, I alone. Therefore no men, neither colonists nor organisations have the right to interfere in my plans”

Lord Moyne, the British Secretary of State in Cairo, in 1942 tried to interfere in Baron Edmond’s plan when he declared “the Jews were not the descendants of the ancient Hebrews and that they had no “legitimate claim” on the Holy Land. In favor of limiting Jewish immigration into Palestine, he was accused of being “an implacable enemy of Hebrew independence,” and on November 6, 1944 Lord Moyne was murdered by two members of the Stern Gang (Yitzhak Shamir’s group). [4]

A Jewish State, a sacrilege, can be found in the Bible

A Jewish state can be found in the book of Revelation. John, an Apostle of Jesus on the Isle of Patmos in 90 A.D., was told to “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter.” John wrote:

And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months (1279 days).†And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in Sackcloth. Revelation 11:2&3

Herzl predicted the 1947 UN partition but John, in the spirit, was taken up into heaven and saw that the holy city would be underfoot for forty-two months given over to non-Jewish people until 1967 (688 A.D. + 1279 years), when in the first hours of the Six-day war Jews took control of East Jerusalem and the prophesy in Sackcloth ended when they had their own state on May 14th 1948 (688 A.D. + 1260 years). [5]

Grand Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, believed RothIsm is “the work of Satan, a sacrilege, a blasphemy” and The Holocaust, he wept, “was a direct result of RothIsm, a punishment from G-d.”

Rothschild was well aware of Jewish history and Jews, according to the Christian New Testament, persecuted and crucified Jesus Christ and most of his early followers. America’s traditional churches in the 19th Century would never stand for a Jewish occupation of Jesus’ homeland.

Rothschild Backed Zionist Jews (RBZJ) and a con artist Cyrus Scofield were used to change America and its religious orientation by the use of the Scofield Reference Bible from Oxford University Press.

Scofield, after being released from prison was introduced to Samuel Untermeyer, the President of the Koren Hayesod, and the RothIsm movement in America.

Untermeyer, an attorney, was instrumental in preparing the Federal Reserve Banking law in 1910, and the financing of Scofield’s Reference bible.

The Scofield bible has hundreds of easy-to-read footnotes in the margins and at the bottom of the pages that misleadingly weave parts of the Old and New Testaments together as though the same people wrote them at the same time. The most convincing evidence of RothIsm influence on Scofield are the notes themselves, below are examples taken from the revised 1967 Edition:

For a nation to commit the sin of anti-semitism brings inevitable judgment.

God made an unconditional promise of blessings through Abram’s seed to the nation of Israel to inherit a specific territory forever.

In fact there is no sin of anti-semitism in the bible and Abraham did not bequeath a “specific territory” to his descendants.

Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell weave Scofield’s “Jews” into Genesis 12:3, “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” and falsely conclude:

God has blessed America because America has blessed the Jew. If this nation wants her fields to remain white with grain, her scientific achievements to remain notable, and her freedom to remain intact, America must continue to stand with Israel.

John McArthur, author, pastor at Grace Community Mega-Church came up with a “Just War” explanation for the Iraq War because of Scofields “specific territory” note. On CNN he told Larry King, “Iraq is ‘a just war’ because Iraq has not only rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but has done everything it can possibly do to stamp out the people of God, namely Israel.”

Robertson, Falwell and McArthur because of Scofield, ignore the central tenets of Christianity: Seeking peace and loving one’s enemies, “Peace be with you, that the meek and those who work for peace — rather than the powerful and violent — are blessed by God.”

Then he will say to those on his left (Robertson et all), ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ MT 25:41

Pre-millennialism, Dispensationalism, Judeo-Christianity and “Christian Zionism” all rely on the Scofield footnote “A Curse Laid Upon Those Who Persecute The Jews” to justify the Iraq war and Israel’s human rights violations in Gaza and the West Bank. [6]

It is impossible to overstate the influence of Cyrus Scofield and the Oxford Press on twentieth-century Christian and Jewish sectarian beliefs. With limitless advertising and promotion, the Scofield Bible became the most important instrument for spreading the message of Christian Zionism: that the Modern State of Israel is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Uganda is not Jerusalem

In 1903, Joseph Chamberlain, the British Colonial Secretary, brought the “Uganda Project”, a Jewish settlement in East Africa, to Theodore Herzl. Herzl initially rejected the idea but the April 1903 Kishinev pogrom, the Medieval Outbreak where 49 Russian Jews were killed, 92 severely wounded, 500 slightly wounded changed his mind and he recommended the controversial solution as a temporary measure.

Herzl did not live to see the rejection of the Uganda Plan in 1905. He, and further discussion of a homeland other than Palestine, died unexpectedly when Herzl was 44.

David Wolfson succeeded Herzl but he failed to convince the Young Turks to give up Palestine after the Ottoman Empire collapsed. Dr. Otto Warburg (related to Paul and Max, Rothschild’s agents) was put in charge and the movement was moved to Berlin.

WWII is over but not for the Palestinians

The war ended in 1945 and after the bitterest episode in Jewish history the refugees were moved from Concentration to Displaced Persons camps until the world was willing to give the Holocaust survivors the Palestinian’s Land.

As the United Nations debated a resolution to divide the Palestinian land, the UN- appointed mediator Count Folke Bernadotte thought the resolution offended

Basic principles to prevent these innocent victims of the conflict [Palestinians were not to blame for the Holocaust] from returning to their homes, while Jewish immigrants flood into Palestine and, what’s more, threatening to permanently replace the dispossessed Arab refugees who have been here for centuries.” He described, “Zionist pillage on a grand scale and the destruction of [Palestinian] villages without apparent military need.

His report (U.N. Document A. 648) was filed on September 16, 1948. The next day Count Bernadotte and his assistant were assassinated in the part of Jerusalem occupied by the Zionists. [7]

Finally the British navy attacked the 4,500 Holocaust survivors (“Exodus 1947″) on their way to Palestine and a Rothschild Homeland was a fait accomplis.

On May 14, 1948, the British Mandate over Palestine expired and Rothschild had established the Jewish State, located in the only place in the world that could have a clash of civilizations, Jerusalem.

The Jews return to the “Holy Land” portends Armageddon.

Armageddon, the final battle, will come when someone blows up the Dome of the Rock. That magnificent golden domed mosque built on the site of Solomon’s Temple (the abomination of desolation) is preventing the return of the messiah. Radical Christians and Jews believe Christ will not come back to earth until the Jews rebuild the Temple.

Should the Dome be demolished, then for the first time in history, thanks to Sadaam Hussein when he destroyed 90 percent of Iraq’s Wetlands, 200 million people could cross the Euphrates for a holy war in Jerusalem. [8]

A war that will rid the planet of millions of useless eaters.

The Rothschild New World Order only needs 500 million of us for slaves.

My kids have already started to think about making plans for next summer. I don’t even know what I have on the calendar for tomorrow, and their minds are already on what they are going to do seven months from now.

This is the exact model we had, only ours was red.

As the boys were batting around ideas for camp, travel, internships and the like, my oldest son suddenly remembered that he can’t plan to be away from home much next summer because he will be learning to drive then. How could it be that my baby, who just yesterday was riding in the baby jogger pushed by my husband through Central Park, adorably shouting forcefully in his little voice, “Be Careful!” to the runners, bikers and skaters passing by on the crowded inner drive, is almost old enough to drive a car? This milestone is coming up on us even faster than it would have had we still been in New York. Here in the Wild West, or as it now known thanks to the latest episode of 30 Rock, the People’s Gaypublic of Drugifornia, teens can get a driving permit at 15 1/2 and a license at 16.

Here in California, knowing how to drive is an absolute necessity. Public transportation in urban and suburban areas is adequate (depending on who you ask), but the wide open spaces (which where we live are only a few minutes drive from home) are accessible only by private vehicle. In any case, we would have insisted that our children learn how to drive even if we were still living in New York. True, my husband and I never owned a car until we moved out here four years ago, but we did know how to drive and had maintained valid licenses. Believe me, if it had been otherwise, our somewhat difficult transition to suburban life would have been a total nightmare.

The Talmud was telling us to do this way before this and other guides were published.

Some may not realize that it is a Jewish parent’s responsibility, at least according to my interpretation of the Talmud, to teach their child to drive. You’re thinking: What is she talking about? There were no cars back in the first centuries of the Common Era. True. But the Talmud (Kiddushin 29a) says that a father must teach his son (let’s just say parent and child) three things: Torah, a trade or profession, and how to swim.

I know, no mention of driving. But we students of Jewish texts know not to take anything only as pshat, at face value. One’s understanding of ”swimming” need not be limited merely to moving around in the water without drowning in the literal sense. “Swimming” also means staying afloat and keeping one’s head above water. It is a parent’s job to teach a child not to figuratively drown in the rough waters of growing up, especially during adolescence. Learning to drive is one way of learning to swim, to be independent.

It’s sort of ironic that it is our oldest son, and not our youngest son who is fascinated by all things mechanical and every thing that goes, who will be learning to drive first. Obviously, our oldest will be the first to drive. What makes it ironic is that our oldest is a complete public transit junkie. By the age of 4, he had memorized the entire map of the New York City subway system. If we ever needed to know how to get somewhere, we would just turn to him and he would be able to tell us which trains to take and at which stations to transfer between lines. He has learned the maps of the subway and bus systems in every city we have ever visited, and of some where we have not even yet been.

Bathroom reading

Here in California, I decorated the boys’ bathroom to look like one you would find in an un-remodeled Manhattan pre-WWII apartment (only it’s a little fresher looking). Over the tub I hung a shower curtain depicting the NYC subway map to complete the effect, but also to help my son keep everything committed to memory. Considering that the map is right there in front of you when you are sitting on the commode, I am most assured that my son gets a lot of use out of this study aid.

If my son had his druthers, he would always live in a place with excellent public transportation. Walking and riding a bike are also preferable to him than driving a car. If, as an adult, he ever finds himself owning or leasing a car as a necessary evil, it will certainly be an electric one (let’s hope that the technology is perfected by then and that prices are reasonable).

My son would take this over traveling in his own private, comfortable vehicle any day. NYC subway photo by Buddy Don.

Now, I know that everyone has to develop their own feel for driving. Everyone has a different philosophy and approach. My son will have to arrive at his own way of doing things (in accordance with conventional driving practice and the law, of course). He will have to be a defensive and safe driver, observing all the latest prohibitions on texting and holding a cell phone while behind the wheel. He will have to know all the rules of the road.

Beyond this, and related to my “swimming” outlook on this, I would like my son to be a confident driver; not aggressive, but assertive. I guess it’s a metaphor for how I think you need to act in life – respectful and responsible toward others while not giving up your right of way and chance to get where you are going.

Sometimes you learn to adopt this approach only through trial by fire. As far as actual driving goes, I learned to be defensive yet assertive while operating a motor vehicle in Israel. Driving in Israel is not for the faint of heart. I have heard that driving in Rome is even worse, and they say, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” Same principle applies in Israel. Only in Israel do I do parallel parking perpendicularly (hey, if there’s no room for the car, why not just squeeze in nose first with your tail sticking out into the street?). If you can drive safely in Israel, you can drive safely anywhere.

"Harug Chadash" ("New Dead"). Cartoon by Moshik.

All this being said, I am not sure I would want my son behind the wheel in Israel until he is a very experienced driver. Israel has a huge number of traffic fatalities every year (444 in 2008), with death by traffic accident being far more likely than being killed in a terrorist attack. Traffic fatalities are even higher in the US on a per capita basis, so the need for caution, intelligence and quick reflexes among drivers is just as great, if not greater here. It seems that statistically speaking, American tourists have nothing to fear about visiting Israel.

Maybe my son would go for the ring if he knew we'd get free shipping.

Once my son passes the test for his permit and starts taking lessons, I will make sure that he carries on with some driving-related family traditions. It never hurts to have a copy of tefilat haderech with you in the car. Mine is set with dried flowers in my hamsa-shaped lucite keychain (bought in a lovely little boutique in Jerusalem, right near where I parked as described above). I could get my son a tefilat haderech ring (who knew there was such a thing?), but he doesn’t seem to be the type to wear jewelry. He, like most guys, would probably prefer a little card to carry in his wallet.

It's good to have reminders.

One bad habit that I hope my son does not pick up is our tendency to swear in the car. My husband is not at all guilty of this, but I have to admit that I am. When my sister was in town recently for my middle son’s bar mitzvah, she drove my youngest somewhere in her rental car. As we were on the way to school a few days later, my youngest observed, “You know, Auntie M. swears a lot when she is driving – just like you do. And come to think of it, when we drove with Zaida to San Francisco that time, he was swearing a lot, too.” Is it nature or nurture? I don’t know, it’s just one of those things that runs in my family, like gardening and shopping. It helps us let off some steam, and even concentrate. As far as I’m concerned, I’d rather hear a little “#%@$!” than a crashing sound followed by sirens.

This whole driving thing is going to be a huge parenting step for my husband and me. We will soon be taking off our son’s water wings in what will likely be the most significant way yet. But I know and trust our son. He will stay alert, his eyes open and focused on the road and his ears trained to hear things, perhaps even his own toddler-voiced warning echoing forward through time back to him.

Here is a copy of the Jewish exorcism ritual I discovered on-line.

…[t]o remove a demon from the body of a man or woman, or anything into which a male or female demon has entered…Take an empty flask and a white waxen candle and recite this adjuration in purity:

I adjure you, the pure and holy angels Michael, Gabriel, Shuviel, Ahadriel, Zumtiel, Yechutriel, Zumtziel…by 72 names I adjure you, you all the retinues of [evil] spirits in the world – Be’ail Lachush and all your retinue; Kapkafuni the Queen of Demons and all your retinue; and Agrat bat Malkat and all your retinue, and Zmamit and all your retinue, and those that were made on the eve of the Shabbat [This refers to a rabbinic dictum (Avot 5:6) that demons were spawned on the twilight of the sixth day of creation, though in his translation Chajes cites Tikkunei Zohar for this tradition] – that you bring forth that demon immediately and do not detain the mazzik [destructive spirit] of so-and-so, and tell me his name in this circle [circles are important protection against demons and warlocks - Sefer ha-Chasidim 2, Zera ha-Kodesh, Megillat Setarim] that I have drawn in your honor….Immediately they will tell you his name and the name of the father and the name of his mother aloud [demons procreate - Chag. 16a, Eruv. 18, Alef-Bet ben Sira; knowing the name of a spirit is critical to gaining power over it – Testa. Of Solomon]; do not fear.

Recite this adjuration in such a way:

I adjure you the demon so-and-so, by the utterance of the watchers and the holy ones [Dan. 4:14] by YHWH God of the Heavens, with these names I adjure you the demon so-and-so, son of so-and-so and so-and-so, that you now enter this flask immediately and immediately the flask will turn red [Chajes reports that bottling up the spirit was commonplace and also appears in Islamic exorcism rituals - the inspiration for "I Dream of Jeanie"]. Immediately say to him these five [divine] names YHW….That demon will immediately cry a great and bitter cry from the great pressure; do not believe him until he swears by YUD HA VAV HA explicitly [more divine names in permutation, thereby binding him to do no further harm]. Then leave him alone and pay him no further heed.

Text taken from Shoshan Yesod ha-Olam, 16th century medieval magical Hebrew text compiled by Rabbi Joseph Tirshom, a kabbalist from Salonika. The text above was translated from the Hebrew by Israeli scholar Jeffrey Chajes and can be found in his book, Between Worlds.

…

One of my fundamental assumptions has been that ancient texts are not windows into the past but artifacts of it. As such, they are never transparent and cannot speak for themselves. To be sure, they may provide gross information, and so it is not completely illegitimate to mine positivistically, provided only that one does so cautiously and skeptically. Such positivism has served as the foundation of all we know about antiquity, and though every inch of this foundation merits scrutiny and debate, sometimes these issue in affirmations of historicity. That having been said, though, the project of producing detailed social or cultural histories of Judaea in the Achaemenid and Hellenistic periods or of the ”world of the New Testament” or that of the Mishnah and Talmud has rarely yielded convincing results. The authors of such works, unless they adopt criticism or skeptical aporia as their goals, always underestimate the amount of information required to produce a convincing history. The scraps we have at our disposal are simply not enough.

But since they are artifacts, texts can still be used; they just have to be treated differently. Some historians, including myself, may be slightly uncomfortable with the idea, but we have to figure out ways of reading them, with minute attention to detail, as expressions of sets of concerns or interests, because that is way they are. […]

The historicity of the tale is debatable, the fact that someone told it, fixed its form, and eventually wrote it down is not: it is true by definition, and so constitutes a much firmer foundation for the production of a historical account than either positivistic investment in the story’s truth or blanket skepticism about it. […]

I have spent many of the foregoing pages exemplifying my model’s utility as an exegetical tool as well. It has constituted an effective way of resisting the ”Hallmark card” school of Ben Sira interpretation, whose point is precisely to deprive the sage’s apophthegms of all their social and cultural specificity and transform them into bland religious-ethical sentences. […]

Del último libro de Seth Schwartz, Were the Jews a Mediterranean society: Reciprocity and solidarity in Ancient Judaism («¿Conformaron los judíos una sociedad mediterránea?
