I am so disappointed with the second delay in the screening of A Christmas Carol. It has been rescheduled for 25 November 2009 (Wednesday) here in the Philippines. At least, it’s this week, but these continued delays just get on my nerves. Alternatively, This Is It, the Michael Jackson movie tribute, has been showing for quite some time and has actually raked in an admirable sum in gross revenue. The problem is, I’m not really a Michael Jackson fan. Thankfully, a film that is categorized within one of my favorite movie genres has been released: 2012.

I'm glad I got to watch this.

Despite being screened simultaneously with The Twilight Saga: New Moon, I am glad that there are sensible people who have opted to watch 2012 instead. Believe me, instead of mulling over the love life of a desperate girl named Bella, go for the latest end-of-the-world flick. It has convincing premises, unprecedented intellect, and a showcase of more realistic human emotion. And, it’s got a great score and soundtrack.

The earth's crust will "shift," causing chaos on the globe's surface.

The movie (2012) talks of a prophecy from the Mayan civilization that the world will end on December 21, 2012 (12.21.12). This is termed as the 2012 Phenomenon. After the said date, nothing else follows; so naturally, everything will end. Scientists have dug into the accuracy of this premise and decided that the earth won’t necessarily be annihilated—the crust would just “shift.” This is described as Earth Crustal Displacement. In this phenomenon, the earth’s crust will move as a result of an overheating core. An extremely hot core will melt the interior layers of the earth, making the crust movable since the underlying supporting ground is liquefied. So, North and South America can literally “shift” to the South Pole, while Asia relocates to the North Pole. Sounds simple. NOT! This process would involve earthquakes, lava explosions, humongous tidal waves, and ash booms. So every life on the earth’s surface is in danger of total eradication. Unless humanity decides to build modern-day arks to carry representatives of every nationality, and every plant and animal species there is.

For Jackson Curtis (John Cusack), family is very important.

Like in other disaster of doomsday flicks, 2012 focuses on a single family that fights for survival, with occasional diversions to other families and individuals who would be significant to the protagonist family’s survival. Of course, the meat of every film of these genres is the blow-by-blow account of the destruction of the environment, places, and popular landmarks. This film showcases new scenes for a disaster flick; and, everything is detailed, messy, and chaotic—just exactly what you might expect in a disaster scenario. I wish they rendered this film in 3D—it would very much be entertaining in that format—cars flying, explosions here and there, tsunamis moving in towards you, and the works! I wouldn’t want to be one of the characters fighting for their lives like in the film though. I figured that if I was in a doomsday situation, my mind would go blank and I would just stop and watch it happen. By watching this film, I learned that in such cases, the best thing to do is run until something stops you; if you ever get stopped, try to resume your running fast!

For Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor), every bit of life is very important.

I think that 2012 has the potential to become a very entertaining video game either in the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii consoles. So you are trapped in a doomsday event and the only way to survive is to travel half-way across the globe to China, where the arks are located. You utilize every vehicle available to your disposal—public cars, small planes, big planes, ships, cruises, whatever—just to get to the arks. You go through earthquakes, eruptions, falling boulders, tsunamis and every natural disaster possible and somehow, manage to live through all these—narrowly escaping death. It’s a great game—if the producers and developers would get it right.

I am glad that despite being panned by critics, this film has done well worldwide. I guess it’s been quite some time since a worthwhile disaster movie has been released. Since this movie has been on its second or third week of showing here in the Philippines (not to mention the hype over New Moon), I expected the cinema to have less or virtually no one in it. I was pleasantly surprised that the cinema was about one-third full, and after my showing time, more people came in, rendering it almost full! This reaffirms my faith that society is not easily swayed by ridiculous vampire love stories.

Yeah, I don’t appreciate the Twilight series. I think it’s because I perceive Edward Cullen and Jacob Black as a threat to us other males. I mean, almost every girl we know swoon over them! Duh! They’re fictional! I remember the hype over The Lord of the Rings back in the early 2000s. Girls lined theaters not to watch this great epic, but to ogle Legolas! Mind you, I love The Lord of the Rings series, but if you watch it just to lust over a single fictional character, something is wrong with you. The same goes to female Twilighters wanting to be the desperate Bella.

Save you money. Watch 2012 instead. You might be disappointed with New Moon. I am so glad I did. I cried, I laughed, I was exhilaratingly entertained. Oh, and I’ve been treated to trailers of next year’s flicks that I am definitely going to look forward to: Prince of Persia, Salt, and Legion.

wow jam packed past few days. hung out a lot with anthony! on thursday we watched land of the lost. love that movie. and attempted to watch this one called wedding slashers…it was crap. and then we watched tamara. stayed up til like 4 in the morning and then woke up at 9:30 oh gosh.

friday…picked up kenny. punk ass wasn’t awake when i went grr. haha. we listened to some music and watched up. such a cute movie. and then we went and got my check and to pick up anthony from work. we talked for a bit in the car. he opened up to some things that are quite personal. and i to him. it’s interesting what you learn about someone and how far in sometimes that they’ll let you go. or how far you will let them dabble in your life.

then we went to red robin. yum. and saw final destination, it was alright. i think kenny and i are going to go see paranormal activity on monday. i’m really excited to see that. went down to the lobster shop for a minute, then went to anthony’s and watched the number 23, i really liked it. there was quite a bit of sex in it though, not that that’s bad or anything and then we went to wincos where i stole 2 pounds of candy on accident. no seriously it was an accident! i would have paid! and we started watching skeleton crew but that again was terrible. the cover looked good and it sounded good but terrible quality. anthony and kenny both suck at picking movies.

woke up at 1, haha and smoked and talked. brian and leanne came to get kenny for disney on ice tonight. got super irritated. came home. ate some dinner and watched the ugly truth with my dad and brother. got my first letter from brandon! so super excited about that, gonna write him back tonight after work!

then went to julena’s for a bit, went to walmart and we went back to her house and watched some tv and she made me an amazing mix. she makes the most awesome mixes ever. love that girl.

got super irritated today because i’m so fed up with people pretending to be my friend. if you don’t want to be my friend then fucking tell me so i can stop trying. tell me and i swear i’ll leave you alone and go away like you want. just man up for once in your fucking life. quit being so pathetic it makes me sick to my stomach. i’ve had a lot of shit already happen this year i don’t want or need any more drama.

I’m off to a SEO workshop tonight and I’m strangely excited. What is SEO you ask? Well, it is Search Engine Optimization. It’s basically how to be Google friendly. Google doesn’t currently like me that much so I have work to do to change that. And I’m jazzed to learn all about it. I’m not normally that geeky but it is so essential to any photographer’s business. (No comments Nadine… contrary to what you think, I’m not that geeky. Honest). I’m considering scrapping my website and having a blog driven portfolio site. So many questions to ask. …

Como tínhamos previsto no post relativo à gala 7, Maika GARCIA divorciou-se dos telespectadores ao adoptar uma atitude conflituosa em relação aos seus colegas, que roçou as raias do intolerável. Estamos tanto mais à vontade para o referir, quanto comungámos da confiança que Pive lhe manifestou, pois vemos nela um valor seguro – pelo menos no que respeita às capacidades artísticas.

Terminada a sua participação no concurso, damos as boas vindas à sevilhana Inmaculada PANIAGUA, cujo desempenho foi não só sem falha, mas também de alta qualidade.

Álvaro LÓPEZ, que nos deu uma versão intimista e pessoal de “La bien pagá” cuja qualidade manifestamente escapou a Pepe GOMEZ e a Maria JIMENEZ.

Mercedes RÍOS, que os telespectadores propulsaram a vencedora da gala, demonstrando o requinte de gosto por uma certa copla erudita tal como “Doña Isabela de Solís”, que Mercedes defendeu muitíssimo bem. Daqui saudamos Mercedes pelo estoicismo com que enfrenta comentários insultuosos, aplaudindo a sua decisão de não se deixar abater por meras vozes infames.

Abraham RUIZ mantém percurso seguro e prudente. Cantou “Cautiva”, e demonstrou ser cada vez mais capaz de se integrar no espírito das letras que lhe cabem.

Sandra ARCO foi excelente interpretando ”Com ruedas de molino”. É possível que a atitude inesperada (e injusta!) dos telespectadores a seu respeito seja reacção à sobrevalorização do seu desempenho pelo júri, que ao pontuá-la tão alto manifestou insensibilidade à avaliação comparativa – e relativa – dos méritos de cada concorrente.

Jimmy Choo designer Tamara Mellon brought together some friends in Hollywood last night to celebrate the launch of her new collection for H&M. Stars like Olivia Wilde, Rashida Jones, Whitney Port and the Hilton sisters posed for photos with Tamara on the carpet before heading in to see a special performance from MIA. Jimmy Choo is known for their shoes, but this line will also include Tamara’s first-ever clothing collection and many of the stars were sporting her designs for their evening out.

Grace au site Moviehole on en sait un peu plus sur les personnages qui feront leur apparitions dans ce nouveau Conan.

Bon déja une petite deception pour ma part c’est qu’on aura un Conan jeune entre 24 et 30 ans. Perso j’aurai plutot vue un Conan un tantinet plus vieux mais bon on ne sait jamais. D’ailleur il semblerai que Jared Padalecki serait l’un des favories. L’avantage c’est qu’il a déja travailler avec Marcus Nispel sur le remake de Vendredi 13. Pour ceux qui ne suivent pas Nispel sera le réalisateur de ce Conan ” tayatoucompri”.

Ensuite notre héro sera seconder par une jeune experte en art martiaux du nom de Tamara et il devraont combatre un certain Khalar Singh qui sera secondé par un géant au dent d’or du nom de Jaws…ah non ça c’est dans James Bond…du nom d’ Ufaka !

On devrait aussi voir apparaitre le pére de Conan au début du film, qui sera tuer dans le massacre de son village, massacre ordonner par Khalar Singh.

Le début du tournage devrait commencer le 15 février 2010 en Bulgarie.

He shows his mastery in strategy and hand-to-hand combat during a fierce sea battle. SUPPORTING

[ CHEREN ] He’s in his 30s, any ethnicity, a blind archer with the mystical ability to strike down any enemy with his bow and arrow. He leads a large band of blind archers whose accuracy and cunning lends a powerful presence to Khalar’s army of mercenaries. SUPORTING

His father teaches him what makes a good sword but he has still much to learn what makes a good swordsman. When the Cimmerians are attacked by Khalar Singh and his mercenaries, Conan is the only survivor, the last of the Cimmerians. SUPPORTING

[ YOUNG FARIQ ] He’s ten years old, Asian or Middle Eastern, submit all ethnicities, Khalar Singh’s son, a sociopath in the making, one who has no qualms killing a wounded man with his own sword.

[ MARAUDER ] He’s in his 30s to 40s, Caucasian, massively built and brutal, a stone cold killer that takes relish in the killing of the pregnant Islene. His shield bears the emblem of Thoth-Amon. However, his arrogance is his downfall as she, in turn, kills him.

[ YOUNG ARTUS ] He’s 15 to 16 years old, Caucasian, Cimmerian, a tall muscular kid embarking on the initiation rite to become a warrior. He mocks the smaller Conan much to his regret. While on the trail, he tries to convince Conan to flee after wandering off the path into a dark pass littered with corpses hanging from trees. Young Conan saves him from the Khalar’s raid on Cimmeria. When given a chance to fight for his homeland, Artus flees to save himself.

[ THREE PICT SAVAGES ] In their late teens, early 20s, SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES, large, brutish, bearded, and wild. They are on a hunting party and come across some teenage Cimmerians heads to add to their collections. What they didn’t count on was the savagery of young Conan.

Cele doua citate sunt declaratiile date in dosarul “Matusa Tamara” de Rodica Stanoiu si Ovidiu Grecea in care arata clar ca Nastase l-a prezentat pe Melinescu drept “un om de incredere”. Mihai Tanasescu si Micky Spaga nu si-au adus aminte ce s-a discutat in respectiva sedinta de guvern.

In acelasi timp, Adrian Nastase posteaza pe blog: “Ioan Melinescu era membru al Oficiului din 1999, numit la propunerea lui Valeriu Stoica, iar anterior numirii mele ca Prim-Ministru, nu l-am văzut şi nu mi-a fost prezentat niciodată Ioan Melinescu”.

Nastase Adrian a fost numit prim ministru la data de 28 decembrie 2000. Prima sedinta de guvern a convocat-o la data de 30 decembrie 2000. BROOKLYN, you should go to this art opening on November 1, 2009. I’m curating a month long show by my favorite artist in Brooklyn, a charming genius named Tamara Waite-Santibanez.

There may be some bands, but because it’s punk art, we won’t know until the very last minute! With Halloween falling on a Saturday, I’m sure you’ll be ready to re-emerge from your bedrooms to look at her stuff before she’s famous.

Rush on the Warpath

Darkness starts with rush in the control room, is is looking rather stressed out, this is obvious when he is on the way back to the control room after leaving the mess, he pins Riley up against a wall and shouts at him, just for asking a question, there are many contributing factors to this and we do find those out later in the episode but the main one at the moment is Lack of sleep.

James talking to the Kino

Over the course of this episode we get an insight to some of the crew of the destiny, this is done by them recording messages  into a Kino, I like this feature of the show as it means that the actors are braking the 4th wall and connecting directly to the audience. As SGU is a character driven show rather than an action show like SG1 and SGA it means that we get to know more about the charactors, even though we are geting the story and the character traits of the main cast the Kino Diaries gives an insight to the supporting cast as well.

Eli and Chloe

This episode brings Eli and Chloe closer I think as there Walk and talk allows for them to reassure each other that they are not useless to the crew:

Chloe: Me? I don’t even know what to do with myself, Eli. I’m the last person who should be here.

Eli: I’m second to last!

Chloe: You’re under-estimating yourself.

Eli : So are you.

After this Eli shows Chloe how to use the “Shower”.

Destiny droping out of FTL

When the destiny drops out of FTL (Faster than Light) it brings on the literal meaning of the episode “Darkness” as that is what the ship has descended into without any power and it brings out the jeopardy as there is nothing that can be done and no way to save them that can be seen on the horizon. when the ship goes dark it takes Rush to a whole new level of Crazy, he becomes more stressed.

The power issues are similar to that of the ones in the Pilot of Atlantis (101/2 – Rising) but in this case there is no fail safe to save them.

Rush passed out

Rush has a nervous breakdown and ends up passing out, with rush out of it they need ideas of how to get out of this mess, Young is asking the actual scientist (Dale Volker) and engineer (Adam Brody)and they have nothing nut the MIT dropout Eli has the idea of using the 2nd shuttle for power, then young gose to earth to report back.

Peter DeLuise as "Peter" the scientist

Peter DeLuise makes an appearance in this episode as “peter” the scientist and just misses the opportunity to be on the Destiny and his place is taken by Telford.

After young has briefed General O’Neill he goes to see his wife and this is an iteresting option as this could meen that all of teh family members are being security clearance as we know in Air Pt I that she was not told where he was going to be stationed.

Telford usis this oppotunity to gather information on the running of the ship so that he can get Young replaced.

Rush finally comes to and he is told that he has been out for 10 hours and we then find out that all of his stress is due to Caffeine and Nicotine withdrawal, poor rush he has got it bad.

Destiny slingshot arroung the Gas Giant

I have nothing but good things to say about the Visual effects department as the visuals of  the Destiny making that sling shot around the Gas giant was just incredible.

The slingshot around the gas giant was another call back to SG1 (412 – Tangent) to where the X-301went out to the edge of the solar system and they tried to slingshot it around Jupiter.

We are now at the end of the episode and here is the worse parts about 2 parters, the cliffhanger, the new course is straight in to the sun, it could not have gotten any worse can it, it will be interesting as to how they use the shuttle to get out of this and howe the 3 “habitable” plaints factor in to it but I can tell you one thing, I cant wait.
