Adevărul este că la valoarea lui de fotbalist de talie extragactică, oficialii de la Dinamo ar trebui să inventeze un program mai special pentru fundaşul &#8220;gât de sticlă&#8221;. Astfel dimineaţa, la trezire, adică pe la ora 14, jucătorul ar trebui să fie aşteptat de un maseur de la Dinamo cu o cafeluţă cu aromă tare, eventual de rom, cu o ţigară deja aprinsă, nişte jetoane de casino deja pregătite şi un cârd de femei dispuse să încerce cele mai bizare perversiuni sexuale. </p>
<p><img src="http://raduvintila.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/update_mic8.gif" alt="update_mic" title="update_mic" width="66" height="17" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-483" />După dezmeticire, lui Tamaş ar trebui să i se pună un televizor cu diagonală mare în baie. Stând în cadă cu un pahar de şampanie Moet, ar putea urmări nestingherit antrenamentul jalnicilor care nu se ridică la nivelul lui dar se antrenează de le sar capacele pe terenul 2 din Ştefan cel Mare. O friptură în sânge ar putea să îi ridice moralul lui Tamaş după băiţă, pentru ca mai pe seară, Borcea, Badea şi Turcu să se alieze şi să îi facă cel mai frumos cadou de care ar putea avea parte în jalnica lui carieră de fotbalist: un pachet de acţiuni la fabrica de wiskey din Tennessee, Jack Daniel&#8217;s. Plus 2-3 sticle la faţa locului, ca să aibă cum să sărbătorească. Bineînţeles, la prima partidă jucată de Dinamo, va avea posibilitatea de a-şi alege postul pe teren şi se va autodesemna căpitan, în conferinţa de presă de dinaintea partidei. După meci toţi colegii vor fi obligaţi să-l laude chiar dacă nu a jucat, nu pentru că nu ar fi vrut antrenorul, ci pentru că nu ar fi avut el chef, iar în fiecare marţi, joi şi sâmbătă, la club s-ar putea serba ziua de naştere a fundaşului alcoolist. </p>
<p><img src="http://raduvintila.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/update_mic8.gif" alt="update_mic" title="update_mic" width="66" height="17" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-483" />Adevărul e că acum m-am edificat şi eu. Turcii de la Galatasaray l-au luat la echipă pentru că au vrut să ne dividă şi să ne cucerească pe plan fotbalistic, dar s-au prins la timp că l-au luat pe cel mai şchiop şi l-au vândut la Celta Vigo. Spaniolii l-au folosit pe post de mop pentru scaunele de pe banca de rezerve, pentru ca într-un final să ajungă la Auxerre. A fost şi acolo atât de apreciat şi de bun pe teren încât a ajuns să fie împrumutat la Dinamo, care oricum l-a luat mai mult din milă şi dintr-un patriotism obsedant.</p>
<p><img src="http://raduvintila.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/update_mic8.gif" alt="update_mic" title="update_mic" width="66" height="17" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-483" />Sfatul ginecologului către minţile obsedate de &#8220;păsărici&#8221;, ale lui Tamaş? Nu i-am auzit nici pe Messi, Pato sau pe cei din generaţia veche, gen Hagi sau Popescu bâzâind ca tine şi uite ce fotbalişti au ajuns! Aşa că, băi sticlă-n gât, ori joacă cât mai poţi şi dă afară tot alcoolul şi tutunul pe teren, alergând ca apucatul pentru echipă şi pentru rezultat, ori ia-ţi damigeana, urcă-n munţi (că tot eşti din Braşov) şi rămâi acolo.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p> Articol antologic în Evenimentul Zilei de azi: fostul fotbalist Constantin David, de patru ori campion cu Dinamo, povesteşte tradiţiile bahice ale clubului din Ştefan cel Mare. Preiau integral textul, ar fi păcat să se piardă dacă alde Cornel Dinu&#38;Co sar la cap pe la vreun şefuleţ de la EvZ:</p>
<p> <br />
&#8220;În „Groapă” s-a băut parcă dintotdeauna. Au existat generaţii întregi de jucători pasionaţi să scurgă paharele, începând cu Dinu, Augustin, continuând cu Bolohan, Semeghin (căruia i se striga „Semeghin, spaima sticlelor de vin”), iar acum „vârfuri de lance” sunt Tamaş, Pulhac şi Torje.</p>
<p>EVZ l-a găsit pe cel mai mare beţiv de la Dinamo. Coleg de generaţie cu fraţii Nunweiller, Ion Pârcălab şi Constantin Frăţilă, Constantin David, aflat în pragul vârstei de 68 de ani, povesteşte cu luciditate şi cu umor vremurile în care, în „Groapă”, se consuma alcool în cantităţi industriale, dar se juca fotbal de calitate, spre deosebire de <span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#0000ff;">prezent</span></span>, când echipa se chinuieşte pe teren, iar jucătorii sunt, de fapt, „amatori” la băut.</p>
<p>Pentru a fi uşor de „identificat”, David are trecută pe cartea de vizită, în afara poreclei „Flencea”, titulatura „academician profesor doctor în Ştiinţe Alcoolice”.</p>
<p><strong>„Ăştia sunt consumatori, noi eram beţivi adevăraţi!”</strong></p>
<p>„Eu sunt cel mai mare beţiv din istoria clubului Dinamo! Fac parte din «brigada » Alexandru Vasile-Piţi VargaŢârcovnicu. Toţi &#8211; foşti jucători de echipa naţională. Ăştia au murit, doar eu mai trăiesc. Ei au băut numai tărie. Asta i-a doborât. Eu am băut doar vin şi bere. Beau de la 14 ani, de când eram la juniorii Progresului, unde antrenor era Cornel Drăguşin. De-atunci şi până acum, n-am făcut nicio pauză! De băutură trebuie să te apuci de tânăr. Unii s-au apucat prea târziu, de-aia se ameţesc repede!”, recunoaşte cu francheţe David.</p>
<p>„Jucătorii de astăzi sunt consumatori, noi eram beţivi adevăraţi! Adică de-ăia care beau până uită unde stau! Pe vremea mea, toţi fotbaliştii erau beţivi, rar găseai câte unul care nu bea. Aceia erau excepţii. Cine nu bea, era marginalizat. Portarul Datcu era mai mămos, nu le avea cu băutura. El era turnătorul! Ne spunea antrenorului. Deaia a şi fost exclus din gaşcă. Dacă refuzai să bei, ăia mai bătrâni te luau cu forţa la cârciumă. Eu am fost trimis de la Dinamo la Piteşti din cauza alcoolului. La Piteşti era un fel de batalion disciplinar. De-acolo m-au dat afară tot pentru băutură!”.</p>
<p><strong>Antrenorul, „blat” cu paznicii</strong></p>
<p>„Înainte de meci, joia, scăpam la băutură. Ziceam: «Hai să o ardem, că mâine ne ia!». Vinerea intram în cantonament. De duminică seară, după meci, până marţi, când aveam primul antrenament, beam permanent! Marţea se ardea iarba unde suflam noi! Antrenorul Traian Ionescu ne îmbrăca în treninguri de bumbac şi ne alerga până ieşea toată băutura din noi. El îi plătea pe paznicii de la baruri, pe unii îi scăpa de găinării cu ajutorul poliţiei. Ca pedeapsă, nea Traian ne trimitea la serviciul în care eram încadraţi. Eu lucram la paşapoarte, m-au băgat la «cusut» dosare. Uneori, luam barurile la rând. La 12 noaptea, când se închidea cârciuma, ne încuiau în bar şi ne lăsau băutură. A doua zi, la opt, când veneau să deschidă barul, ne găseau consumând”, povesteşte David.</p>
<p> <strong>„E greu să facă Dinu pe lupul moralist!”<br />
</strong><br />
După încheierea carierei de fotbalist, în 1971, Constantin David a lucrat la Serviciul paşapoarte, de unde s-a pensionat acum 20 de ani. „Păstrez legătura cu foştii colegi de serviciu. Uite, mâine ne întâlnim. Stăm de vorbă, bem două-trei sticle cu vin, mai discutăm politică, vedem cine a mai murit dintre noi, cine mai trăieşte&#8230;”, explică „Flencea”.</p>
<p>Întrebat de ce nu a profesat ca antrenor, răspunde sincer: „N-aveam cum! Cum să le zic fotbaliştilor să fie profesionişti, când <!--more-->eu am fost un beţiv?”. David îl înţeapă pe fostul coechipier Cornel Dinu (foto), revenit la conducerea tehnică a clubului Dinamo: „E greu să facă Dinu pe lupul moralist în faţa lui Tamaş şi a celorlalţi. El, care a băut toată viaţa! Într-o noapte, am băut şase-şapte sticle de whisky, cu el şi cu Fănuş Neagu”. <strong></p>
<p>PROVOCARE BAHICĂ</p>
<p>„Pe Gabi Tamaş îl bag sub masă!”</strong></p>
<p>Cu patru titluri de campion în spate şi cu o viaţă plină de aventuri bahice, Constantin David îi priveşte de sus pe actualii fotbalişti şi lansează o provocare către liderul grupului de consumatori din formaţia de astăzi a „câinilor”.</p>
<p>„Ăştia de-acum sunt fotbalişti crescuţi în balcon. Au fost ţinuţi în puf de părinţi. Nu ştiu nici să bea, nici să joace fotbal. Se îmbată dintr-o bere. Pe Tamaş îl bag sub masă şi acum, la 68 de ani! Nu are cum să reziste până la 30 de ani în fotbalul mare, doar să joace pe la Sighetul Marmaţiei. Eu l-aş chema la antrenament în fiecare dimineaţă şi l-aş pune să alerge cu saci de nisip legaţi de picioare, ca pedeapsă pentru că bea”, e de părere David.</p>
<p><strong>„Botez” cu palme la fundul gol</strong></p>
<p>„Flencea” îşi aminteşte cu nostalgie de momentul în care a intrat pentru prima dată în vestiarul echipei Dinamo, venind de la Roşiorii de Vede .</p>
<p>„Când veneai nou la o echipă, ţi se făcea botezul. În vestiar se forma un plen de judecată, format din antrenor şi cei mai bătrâni jucători. Judecătorul zicea: «A venit cutărică să-i ia locul în echipă lui X, care are nevastă şi copii de întreţinut. Cazul e grav!». La final, se dădea sentinţa: patru palme de fiecare jucător din lot! <p>Devotion to Radha Krishna has a few conditions.  The main condition is selflessness. This means having no desires.  Desires are of two kinds: (1) <em>mayic</em> or worldly desires, such as three of the four aims of human existence, namely <em>dharma</em> (observing religious principles), <em>artha</em> (material wealth), <em>kam</em> (sensual desire), and (2) <em>amayic</em> or non-worldly desires, namely the desire for <em>moksha</em> or <em>mukti</em> (absolute liberation from Maya). <em>Dharma</em> relates to the <em>satvik</em> quality of Maya, <em>arth</em> relates to the <em>rajas</em> quality of Maya, <em>kam</em> relates to the <em>tamas</em> quality of Maya and <em>moksh</em> is <em>nirguna</em> or beyond all the qualities of Maya.</p>
<p>In the Bhagwatam (3/29/8) Bhagwan Kapil explained to Devahuti, his mother, that there are four kinds of devotion, and complete surrender of the mind is required for all of them. They are (1) <em>tamas</em> devotion related to <em>tamas</em> desires, (2) <em>rajas</em> devotion related to sensual desires, (3) <em>satvik</em> devotion for the attainment of the celestial abode, and (4) <em>kaivalya</em> devotion for the attainment of <em>moksh</em> or liberation. This includes the nondual realisation of <em>jnanis</em>. (Chandogya Upanishad 8/15/1, Vasudeva Upanishad 1, Vedant 4/4/22)</p>
<p><em>Moksh</em> or liberation is actually of five kinds. One of these, <em>ekatva mukti</em> relates to absolute liberation. In this realisation, a jnani loses his personal identity and merges into an impersonal state of God forever. This attainment is dangerous in the sense that once the soul merges into absolute divinity, it no longer has a chance to attain divine love.</p>
<p><img src="http://bhaktibliss.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/praying-gopi.jpg" alt="Gopi" title="Gopi" width="200" height="224" class="alignright size-full wp-image-915" />Out of the five kinds of liberation, four of these (including <em>ekatva mukti</em>) are considered selfish because the practitioner has some desire he wishes to fulfill through that attainment. The one who renounces these desires attains the <em>braj ras</em> or divine love of the Gopis.</p>
<p>The divine love of the Gopis is of three kinds: (1) <em>sadharani rati</em>, (2) <em>samanjasa rati</em>, and, (3) <em>samartha rati</em>. </p>
<p><em>Sadharani rati</em> is still related to one&#8217;s desire to receive happiness from God.  <em>Samanjasa rati</em> and <em>samartha rati</em> are the selfless forms of love expressed by the Braj Gopis, who held the highest place in the divine world. The Bhagwatam explains (3/29/8-12) that the selfless Braj Gopis reached the most elevated state of divine love called <em>mahabhava</em>. Because of this, (Bhagwatam, 10/14/30, 32, 34) even Brahma prayed to one day be blessed with receiving these Gopis&#8217; foot dust. </p>
<p>In worldly love, selfishness is always present. Selfishness means we are selfishly searching for our own happiness. Love in the world is always increasing and decreasing depending on the degree to which our self-interest is fulfilled.  If our self-interest is satisfied, we feel love. If our self-interest is harmed, we feel hate. In this way the temperature of our love is always changing &#8211; either it is running hot or cold &#8211; and that, too, could be for the same person.</p>
<p>The definition of selflessness or <em>nishkamata</em> is to be free of all desires related to the qualities or <em>gunas</em> of Maya, and to have no desire for the four selfish forms of liberation. True selflessness means following the example of the highest class of <em>sadharani rati</em> Gopis and only having the desire for Shri Krishna&#8217;s happiness in one&#8217;s heart.<br />

<p>The <em>karmi</em>, the one who performs ritualistic actions with the aim to realise celestial happiness, the <em>jnani</em>, the one who desires to realise nondual liberation and merge into God, and the <em>yogi</em>, the one who practices <em>yoga</em> with a desire to attain <em>siddhis</em> or yogic powers, are all ignorant. Only the selfless <em>bhakt</em>, the one who practices devotion to God with a desire to receive His grace and attain His divine vision and love is truly knowledgeable. (It is only through <em>bhakti</em> that our ultimate aim of true and ever-lasting happiness is fulfilled.)</p>

The Jews associate the idea of repentance with Divine Atonement and Absolution of sins. Repentance, and forgiveness of sins in the name of Jesus is the theme of the Books of The New Testament. Christian faith calls upon man to repent and be converted through the act of Baptism. In Islam, true repentance means that man must reject all other forms of belief and avoid the worship of false gods. By repenting, a Muslim agrees to truly believe in one and only God(ALLAH) and live in strict obedience to His Five Commandments and other ordinances as revealed in the Holy Scripture of Quran. Islam also demands that the true believer must ask the non-believer to repent. Islam encourages the idea of harshly punishing all individuals who fail to truly repent. In India, the Land described as &#8216;Karma Bhumi&#8217;, repentance is viewed upon as a personal choice. Repentance could only be used to change one&#8217;s own conduct. Most importantly, in the Land of Bharat, the idea of repentance is not associated with the idea of converting the religious beliefs of a man. The idea of &#8216;repent or perish&#8217; does not define Indian Identity.</strong></p>
<p><strong>JUDAISM AND THE DOCTRINE OF ATONEMENT  :</strong></p>

<p><strong>To Jews, repentance means living in obedience to Yahweh&#8217;s Will for the individual and the nation of Israel. For a Jew, atonement is expiation for his own sin in order to attain God&#8217;s forgiveness. He may achieve this in various ways, including repentance, payment for a wrong action, good works, suffering, and prayer. Repentance and changed conduct are stressed as the most important aspects of Atonement.</strong></p>

<p><strong>The Day of Atonement or YOM KIPPUR is the most important and solemn of the Jewish holidays. It is the tenth and final day of the Ten Days of Repentance which begins with Rosh Hashanah.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Christian traditions accept the announcement of God&#8217;s willingness to forgive all those who truly repent of their sins. Christians are sharply divided about the Doctrine of Conciliation and the power to &#8220;bind and loose&#8221;. Jesus after the Resurrection told the disciples :&#8221;If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.&#8221;( Gospel of John, Chapter 20, verse 23 ) This statement is interpreted in different ways. Catholics believe in Sacramental Absolution of sins and they extend the power to &#8220;bind  and loose&#8221; that was conferred by Jesus on the Apostles  to all of their priests. Martin Luther, the leader of Protestant Reformation in Germany had asserted that daily repentance is the repeated actualization of Baptism. The Protestants have ruled out the Fourth Sacrament of Roman Catholicism.</strong></p>

<p><strong>The Revelations stated in the Holy Book of Quran state that it is always possible for a sinner to repent( Taubah or Tawbah) and redeem himself by a genuine conversion to the truth. Genuine repentance has the effect of removing all sins and restoring a person to the state of sinlessness with which he started his life.</strong></p>

<p><strong>In Surah IX, At-Taubah ( Repentance ), Holy Quran issues stern Commandments against idolaters, disbelievers, transgressors, the Jews and the Christians for they have taken as lords beside ALLAH their rabbis, and their monks, the Messiah, and that son of Mary.</strong></p>

<p><strong>The ninth month of the Muslim Year during which the Quran was sent down as a guidance for the people is observed as a period of daily fasting from sunrise to sunset. <p><strong>While the Jews, the Christians, and the Muslims are constantly reminded to repent and to seek forgiveness of God for all of their sinful actions, in the Land of Bharat, the people are counseled to submit to God all of their actions; either good or bad. Whatever actions that a man accomplishes with his body, with his speech, with his mind, with his organs of motor function, or because of his attitude or temperament; all of those acts without any exception should be dedicated or submitted to the Supreme Lord known as Narayana. Without making any distinction between good or bad actions; man should refrain and should not  desire the fruits of his actions.</strong></p>

<p><strong>THE THREE MODES OF MATERIAL NATURE &#8211; &#8216;GUNA TRAYA VIBHAGA YOGA&#8217; :</strong></p>
<p><strong>The Lord&#8217;s Song known as Bhagavad Gita, Chapter XIV, verse 5 states that the material Nature consists of the three modes &#8211; goodness ( Sattva ), passion ( Rajas ), and ignorance ( Tamas ). And when the living entity comes in contact with Nature ( Prakrti ), he becomes conditioned by these modes which enslave the immutable consciousness of the self within the body. Man acts under the influence of any of the three different modes of material Nature.</strong></p>

<p><strong>The Lord&#8217;s Song further states that when man is able to rise above ( transcend ) these three qualities known as Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas, the embodied soul can become free from birth, death,old age, and their distresses, and can enjoy &#8220;Amrit&#8221; ( the Divine Nectar that bestows Immortality ) even in this life. The Supreme Lord is transcendental to the three modes of Nature. When man acquires the true knowledge of the Supreme Lord, he is emancipated ( Vimukti ) from the conditioning effects of Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas.</strong></p>
<p><strong>INDIAN VIEW &#8211; REPENTANCE DOES NOT REMIT SINS :</strong></p>
<p><strong>In Sanskrit language, the word repentance is described as &#8221;PASHCHATH  TAPA&#8221;. It is the feeling of sorrow or grief experienced by an offender for his own actions that inflicted pain or caused an injury or insult. The Indian thinkers have described repentance as mental catharsis. Repentance is an act of purification of the mind. A man cannot unburden his conscience by concealing his actions, or by suppressing  the memory of his actions. The emotional stress and the burden imposed by a sense of guilt could be alleviated by bringing the memory of our actions to consciousness and by giving expression to sorrow or grief caused by these actions. The offender does not merely regret his actions. He mentally experiences the pain caused by his actions and gives expression to the emotion of sorrow or grief. In the Indian tradition, grief is manifested by actually shedding tears of sorrow with which the offender cleanses the feet of his victim. This process of mental catharsis brings about changed conduct. The man is enabled to change his mode of conditioned activities. The activities performed in the mode of ignorance( Tamas), and passion( Rajas) lead to distress. Man acquires real knowledge while acting under the influence of the mode of goodness or Sattva. Repentance helps the man to move upward into the mode of Sattva ( goodness ) from that of Tamas( ignorance ), and Rajas ( passion ). Through repentance man changes his thoughts, his desires, his habits and his actions. </strong></p>

<p>Selegalezul i-a reprosat arbitrului ca jucatorul austriecilor ar trebui sanctionat, moment in care a fost &#8220;intampinat&#8221; de mai multi jucatori de la Sturm.</p>
<p>Dinamovistii si austriecii s-au strans in jurul arbitrului si au fost la un pas de bataie!</p>
<p>Unicul gol al meciului a fost reusit de Tamas, care a marcat cu un sut perfect de la 18 metri in minutul 80!</p>

Muzica avangardistă / serialistă este un fenomen extraordinar, o revoluţie foarte interesantă şi importantă în muzica &#8220;<em>serioasă</em>&#8220;. Este şi destul de apropiată de zilele noastre (<strong>Karlheinz Stockhausen </strong>a murit la sfârşitul anului 2007).</p>
<p>Sunt de acord că astăzi sunt probabil numai 2% din public cei care apreciază sau îi fascinează acest gen muzical, însă la începutul secolului 20 audienţa era compusă din oameni diferiţi, mulţi aristocraţi, care aveau studii mai profunde muzicale. Şi nu este vorba numai de nivelul de educaţie!</p>

<p>(Synopsis of a talk given by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj in India, on September 16, 2009, explaining this new kirtan verse.)</p>
<p>The Brihadaranya Upanishad (5/2/1-3) says there are 3 kinds of bodies. <em>Sur</em> is a celestial body, <em>nar</em> a human body, and <em>asur</em> is a demonic body. Why are there three kinds of bodies? Because Maya has 3 qualities: <em>sattvik</em> produces celestial bodies, <em>rajas</em> produces human bodies, and <em>tamas</em> produces demonic bodies.</p>
<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-700" title="Brahma" src="http://bhaktibliss.wordpress.com/files/2009/09/brahma1.jpg" alt="Brahma" width="200" height="226" />Once the leaders of each of these three went to Brahma, the creator, who is the father of every living being.  At the very beginning of creation, Brahma emerged from Lord Krisnna.  From Brahma emerged  these three types of personalities with three types of bodies and temperments &#8211; <em>sur, nar, asur</em>.</p>
<p>The leaders said, &#8220;Oh, creator of this world! We are all your children.  We desire to hear some teachings from you.&#8221;  Brahma looked towards all three and said, <em>&#8220;Da, da, da&#8221;</em> and then left. The lecture was finished. No one understood what Brahma meant so they all felt restless.  They decided to go back to their respective Gurus for an explanation.</p>
<p>The celestial gods went to Brihaspati. The humans beings went to their<br />
individual Gurus.  The demons went to Shukracharya.</p>
<p>Brihaspati said, &#8220;Listen all of you.  You have all become extremely materialistic and desirous of all kinds of comforts. It is true that the celestial abodes have inconceivable luxuries that are beyond the reach of a common human being.  But when your <em>punya</em> or the consequences of good actions you earned as a human being that enabled you to enter here come to an end, you will be thrown back into <em>mrityuloka</em>, the earthly abode.  There your nature will remain the same because of this bad habit.  This will prevent you from practicing devotion to God.  So <em>da</em> for you means <em>dam</em> &#8211; control your senses.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Gurus of the human beings told them, &#8220;<em>Da</em> for you means <em>daan</em>, give charity.  This is because your greatest attachment is to money.&#8221; Just see that even the richest people in India are fighting each other in the supreme court over money.  Everybody is anxious to have more money, and this is because all the enjoyments of the five senses are purchased with money.  It is a separate point that the quality of these enjoyments varies from one living standard to another. The Gurus said, &#8220;Give <em>daan</em>, offer this wealth in charity.&#8221;</p>
<p>Charity will cause you to undergo one of four kinds of consequences, depending on the quality of the recipient it is given to: (1) charity given to God and Guru, who are <em>divya</em> or divine, produces a divine consequence; (2) charity offered to a <em>sattvik</em> person produces a <em>sattvik</em> consequence; (3) charity offered to <em>rajas</em> person produces a <em>rajas</em> consequence; (4) charity offered to a <em>tamas</em> person produces a <em>tamas</em> consequence.</p>
<p>There was a story on the news recently that in a foreign country there is a dog that is worth millions of dollars.  That dog has its own mansion, cars and drivers, special lawns and outdoor areas for all its activities, insurance and sixty servants. All this luxury is the consequence of charity given by that soul in its previous birth. But at the same time, it also did something very bad, which caused it to take birth as a dog.  There is this much power in charity or <em>daan</em>.</p>
<p>Shukracharya, the Guru of the demons, told the demons, “<em>Da</em> for you means develop <em>daya</em> or compassion and overcome your violent nature which causes you to harm others.”</p>
<p>This is the meaning of this verse.</p>
