Indocomtech 2009

Hari ini gw ke pameran Indocomtech di JCC Senayan sama temen-temen kantor. Dari rumah gw udah siapin catetan barang2 yang mau gw beli: HDD External, Ransel Laptop, Headset sama starter pack IM2 Broombastis. Menurut gw harga di pameran lumayan murah =D harga tiket masuknya cuma ceban, berikut ini adalah jajanan yang gw beli disana:

Rada bete karena ternyata laptop gw ga bisa baca memory card di Canon SX120 IS yang jenisnya SDHC (SD-Extreme III) ditambah lagi Corby gw ga ada kabel datanya, akhirnya gw memutuskan beli card reader dengan speed 480Mbps yang support “banyak macem memory card” in 1 card reader. Pembelian card reader ini sebenernya out of plan sih, tapi karena harganya cuma 20 rebu perak akhirnya gw ambil aja =D masih nawar pula jadi 15 ribu, tapi ngga dikasih sama mbaknya hehe. Merknya “Accessories”, merk abal2 sih ngga jelas gitu, tapi pas gw tes dirumah ternyata memuaskan.

Berhubung akses internet di kantor udah mule dibatesin abis2an, gw akhirnya merasa butuh juga untuk beli IM2, secarrra modemnya udah punya lama tapi ga punya kartunya, pake IM3 ato simpati boros banget, pernah kena Rp50rb untuk online selama 2 jam pake Simpati, I know what you guys thinking “ya eyaalaaah”. Tadinya mau beli Broombastis Unlimited yang top up per bulannya Rp200rb, tapi dipikir-pikir mahal euy toh kebutuhan gw juga ngga perlu yang segetonya. Akhirnya gw ngikut Waw aja, beli Broom PAS – Classic harga starter pack nya Rp125rb dah include voucher perdana senilai Rp50rb dan dapet gratis unlimited selama sebulan, setelahnya yaa kembali ke tarif normal

Awalnya gw nge-budget-in untuk beli Seagate Freeagent yang 320GB, waktu browsing di online store langganan, disitu harganya sekitar Rp697rb – Rp 715rb (tergantung kurs dollar), pas nanya harganya di booth tempat gw beli card reader ternyata harganya Rp750rb, setelah tawar menawar mentok di harga Rp720rb, ya kaga redo lah gw selisihnya aja bisa beli card reader satu lagi, masih kembali 3000 perak pula, akhirnya ga jadi beli disitu.

Pas lagi celingukan nyari tempat tas Targus, Waw ngasih tunjuk booth resmi WD, yaudah mampir aja, seinget gw di situs online store yang (setau gw) paling murah di Mangga Dua Mal, untuk Western Digital Passport Essential 320Gb (New Model) harganya sekitar Rp745rb – Rp756rb, ternyata harga di pameran lebih murah lagi cuma Rp730rb garansi resmi 3 tahun. Waktu beli, transaksinya ga ada 10 menit, gw disuruh milih warna terus langsung bayar deh, pas diliat isi kantong plastiknya ternyata udah dapet soft case & t-shirt WD yang ukurannya “S” duuuh si mbak SPG nya tau aje ukuran gw. Dari 320GB, free disk space nya cuma 297GB, karena udah kepake untuk CD Drive WD SmartWare 446MB. I wonder kemana sisanya pergi, but never mind, gw cukup seneng dengan tampilannya yang mungil, sleek, dan warnanya gonjreng hehe red is one of my favorite color ^_______^

Berhubung ransel Export merah yang gw punya dari jaman SMA udah jebol 3 hari lalu, karena selama training PHP Framework bawaan gw di ransel udah kek orang mo camping hehe, jadi ransel laptop pun jadi prioritas di list jajanan gw. Awalnya sih gw naksir ransel Caselogic yang warna kuning supaya matching sama Corby gw, tapi begitu gw liat fisik aslinya ternyata beda ama di gambar euy, jadi ngga napsu. Akhirnya gw balik ke booth Targus, lumayan lama ngacak2 tas disitu ada 5 tas yang gw cobain, gw ngincer tas yang gede supaya muat banyak baju + laptop buat klo konsinyering jadi ga usah bawa tentengan banyak, tapi tas yang gede2 itu malah bikin gw keliatan kayak kura2. Akhirnya gw pilih yang ukurannya sedang sedang saja *dangdut mode on* Sampe rumah, pas dijejerin sama ransel bodypack gw ternyata masih gedean si Targus.

Harga di pameran ini sebenernya sama persis sama yang ada di mangdu, tapiii… di sini dikasih BONUS, nah tas yang gw beli itu kebetulan bonusnya headset, kata Waw “lumayan lah dapet headset walopun merknya merk tas” hehe. Emang udah rezeki, sebelumnya gw sempet mampir ke booth Sennheiser yang harganya bikin mata melotot, hampir aja gw ngambil earphone biasa yang harganya pek go, pas discuss sama Waw dia bilang klo sumbernya jelek walopun earphone-nya bagus juga ngga akan ngedongkrak banget, yaa berhubung Axioo gw speakernya emang ga bagus, akhirnya gw urungkan deh niat beli tu earphone. Ternyata headset merk Targus itu suaranya manteb beneeeerrr… begitu bening dan mendayu dayu *halah* pokoknya w suka banget, dah gitu bisa dilipet jadi irit tempat, ditambah lagi katanya sih harga tu headset senilai Rp160rb =D

Pokoknya puas banget deh gw jajan di Indocomtech 2009, dari jam 10 AM – 2 PM mayan juga keliling-keliling disitu, bikin betis kenceng hehe. Mas Tfn beli laptop Compaq, Waw beli starter pack Broom PAS sama modem sierra dan semua pun pulang dengan hati senang =D

Review of Targus OCN700 15 Side Access Notebook Roller

After reading the earliest review of this “Targus Notepac-Notebook Case”, I reentered my search for it by using the bar code(092636920104). I wanted to make sure we are talking about the same case, and we are. As the most recent reviewer has stated, this must be a newer and updated, and improved version of the case.

I just bought this recently and I love it. It holds all portable and mobile equipment safely and snugley. I have a 14″ screen on my lap top, and I know it is well protected by the nice cushioned padding around the inside section. One of the side pads is velcro adjustable. It forms a compartment where the adujustable shoulder strap sits, but once the strap is removed and used on the case, you can move the padding over(or remove it completely, as the case is cushioned all around) to accomadate a little larger screen(up to 15.4″). Two way zippers keep the case closed nicely.

A ton a storage space. The inside of the top cover has a document sleeve, three scratch resistant Disc sleeves, a pocketshaped for media and mobile gadgets, and another pocket that will hold at least 2 encased CDs. Both pockest fastened with velcro. Good use is made of the outer areas as well. Both sides have plenty of roomy storage areas. A large pocket on one side, has a velcro closing flap and inside of the pocket are compartments for a cell phone, pens, business cards, and a key holder. This section also has room for papers, you may need to get to without opening up the whole case. The otherside also is nice and roomy for books(not too thick) and files, and also closes with velcro. I like to keep all my loose papers in here.

The material is sturdy, the case is reinforced at stress points and seems strong. I didn’t find the handle to be too hard(maybe this is one of the improvements as well), it has two non skid “feet” on the bottom, which will also protect the case. It’s nice looking in black and, has everything you could want for a good portable office. A great buy and highly recommended for those on the go!

The price for it I believe is a little too much however if you use your laptop in high traffic areas and do business on it, this is a great product. My first impression of the Targus Corporate Traveler Notebook Case is that it is designed and constructed very well.

The idea behind the Corporate Traveler’s design is that it zips down across the center to let the case open like a clam shell, isolating your notebook on one side and all your accessories and files on the other. This allows the case to pass through TSA’s scanner without having to remove the laptop from the case. I travel quite a bit with my notebook, and this feature really comes in handy when I’m fumbling through the airport’s check-in process.

The ballistic nylon construction and Targus’ SafePort Air-Cushion padding system provide great protection for my 15″ Powerbook. The padding is also adjustable, which allows for a snug fit for smaller notebooks. This case features heavy-duty zippers with metal pulls and a very comfortable non-slip shoulder strap that has metal clips as well. Additionally, the carrying handles are wrapped in leather so the case feels very comfortable in my hands.

There are a lot of compartments in this case which afford more than enough space for my laptop’s accessories and personal items when I travel. There is an accordion-type section that can easily house quite a bit of paperwork. (I was able to fit a book and a newspaper, along with some other paperwork.)Next to it is a small, zipped pocket for smaller items like a phone, PDA or an MP3 player. There is a zip-down compartment (Targus calls it a workstation) that has pen loops, a business card holder, and a clip for keys. There are also smaller compartments with velcro flaps for other accessories, and there’s even a small zipped compartment for loose change. On the outside of the case is a fairly large pocket that can hold things that require immediately access, like a boarding pass or a passport.

Overall, I think this is a great notebook case. It is very well-constructed and even though it’s fairly light, it feels very sturdy. Aside from traveling, I use this case on a daily basis, transporting my laptop to and from work. It replaces a Kensington Laptop BackPack, and although Targus’ case is similar in size, it holds quite a bit more than the backpack.I highly recommend this case.

(2005) Two months with this bag an it’s still getting me to school. I haven’t had any reliability issues.
The good:
1) It’ll hold everything. I carry so many books to school I used to carry a backpack and a laptop case. Now I just have this bag.
2) Big straps to hold the load.
3) Lots of compartments to help devide up and secure the stuff.
4) Padded back
The Bad:
1) Laptop sits between your back and your load. It’s padded, but this doesn’t stop the weight of the load from resting on your computer. It should be a hard case.
2) Big straps that are too wide to leave much room for flexibility in the arms.
3) Useless little mesh pockets.
4) Dividers aren’t removable.

EDIT (Nov 2006): I’ve been forced to quit using this bag.After 1.5 years of heavy use with heavy loads, the main zipper gave out and tore away from the bag.Targus says they have a lifetime warranty, but good luck collecting.I still loved it and plan to get it fixed.

EDIT (June 10, 2007): Targuus seems to have lightened up on their warranty policy.Without a receipt, and without having registered, I was able to warranty this bag.Targus sent me a new one.

This bag is well made and can hold an enormous amount of books, etc. My only complaint is that the wheels should be larger as the bottom of the bags drags on the ground when the bag is fully packed. This bag is great.After using a slightly smaller version of this bag for 10 years, I was a little concerned about the larger size, but it actually makes it easier to stack items in the folder section.Another divider in the file folder section would be nice, but other than that, it’s perfect for daily use taking the laptop and a few files/magazines, and accessories. The quality of this bag is excellent and I bought this while on sale for 24.99$.I like the design where you put the accessories like mouse, power supply, and even your iPod. What I don’t like is once you put your Macbook 13″ inside, you should be very careful closing the zipper because it will hit the corner of your laptop and scratch it.The bag is so exact and no allowance for the Macbook 13″.Targus should put 1/2″ allowance on the top and put small piece of nylon along with the zipper side to protect the laptop from zipper scratch.

Review: Chill Mat, base con ventiladores para Mac

Hace ya mucho tiempo que no hago ninguna Review, ni nada parecido, así que ya era hora de que hablara de esta base para portátiles (en general, pero en espacial para Mac) que incluye dos ventiladores y es ergonómico. Estoy hablando de la base Targus Chill Mat, diseñada en especial para nuestro portátiles y pensada para refrigerarlos y ponerlos a una altura mucho más cómoda.

Después del salto galería de imágenes y mis conclusiones:

Como todo usuario de portatil, me interesa mucho que mi dispositivo tenga una buena ventilación y, de paso, que me sea aún más ergonómico. Pues Targus lo ha conseguido con esta base, que por un precio excesivo (a mi parecer) nos da una superficie bastante resistente y con dos ventiladores silenciosos.

Ergonomía, cuestión de gustos.

Esta base esta inclinada de tal forma que eleva el MacBook (u otro portátil) de tal forma que lo hace mucho más como para escribir y mirar la pantalla.

En la parte donde pones el portátil, hay una especie de almohadillas que sobresale que hacen que el portátil no se mueva del sitio, o eso ponía en la caja, porque yo no lo he notado. Al conecta cualquier dispositivo por USB o FireWire y tuviera que apretar un poco más fuerte, el MacBook se movía del sitio y, a veces, si casi se caía del sitio.

Diseño, elegancia por encima de todo.

Como ya he comentado un poco más arriba, esta base esta dentro de los productos de Targus diseñada exclusivamente para Mac, así que el diseño esta acorde con esta filosofía y, de paso, nos hace que sea compatible con ordenadores de esta 17 pulgadas.

Ventiladores, ruido, pero no mucho.

Una de las cosa que más miedo me daba al adquirir esta base era el ruido de los ventiladores, ya que no quería que esta característica rompiera con el silencio de mi MacBook.

Pero al final no fue problema, ya que si, se escuchan, pero a nada que pongas música a un nivel aceptablemente bajo no los oyes, igual que cuando ves algunos película a 1080p y ves que el ordenador enciendo los ventiladores, y tu a la vez enciendes los de la base, los dos se disimulan mucho con el sonido (repito, aceptablemente bajo) de la película.

USB, usalo, pero solo si te hace falta.

Esta base tiene un gran problema a mi parecer, y es que usa un USB para hacer funcionar los ventiladores. Y eso, un portátil de solo dos conexiones de este tipo no es nada bueno.

Creo que sería necesario que incorporaran una adaptador para la corriente electrica o que funcionase por pilas o batería, ya que en el momento que quieres usar tu ratón USB y sincronizar tu iPod, ya no podrás usar eso ventiladores.

Así, desde aquí, hago un llamamiento a Targus para que se lo piensen.

Review of Targus TCM004US Messenger 15.4" Notebook Case

I was a little skeptical about buying a notebook case online.
I thought it might be better to see the merchandise in person at a retailer. As I started my search which included Best Buy, Frys, Circuit City websites I still didn’t find anything that looked liked it was worth the $30 to $70 asking price or anything that really caught my eye for that matter!

Lastly I tried Old Amazon and ran across this little gem!!

It looked just right, right up my alley, but I thought something might be wrong with it because the price was so low! Then I saw the name which is a brand name and made my decision to get this one. And when it arrived and I open the box I knew I had a quailty product and was very pleased!

My 15.4 laptop fits into it like a glove. Its padded on both sides, top and bottom. It is made of quaility nylon, with quaility zippers, and snap locks. The handle is made of nylon wrapped in a rubber grip, so that your hand is protected from the thin nylon grip itself. Good design feature and adds extra style to the overall look of the case itself. As you can see from the photos above it has pockets to store and carry extra items.
It also has a nice wide shoulder strap, with solid plastic snap hooks, and the nylon itself is of the hi-quailty dense knit type! This is a very handsome case! And it’s the type of case that anyone would be proud to carry into any office meeting or internet cafe!! Its that nice and looks like it cost a $100 instead of $20!!

Great case, great buy! I’m real satisfied!

Review of Targus TXL617 17 XL Notebook Backpack

If you are like me, and you have a large amount of books and other stuff to carry around, this bag is perfect.And it has several pockets to store sunglasses, a bag lunch, a nice cell phone pouch that can fit anything from a reasonably sized Nokia to a clamshell phone hanging off of the left shoulder strap, Palm Pilot, iPod – with even a slot to fit your earbuds or headphones through, although that’s kind of tricky — a very well-padded storage area for your Notebook computer, all the connections and wires that accompany it, and, top it all off, a place for your water bottle.

If you are taking a lot of classes with a lot of books, the compartments are very spacious and can hold a lot.Unlike most reviewers here I find it very comfortable when full, and not heavy at all once you are used to a little extra weight.

Overall, I highly recommend this product, especially for the price, since a similarly equipped bag should cost over $[...] or more (but don’t tell that to Amazon or the Manufacturer )

This case is of very high quality.There is padding around the entire bag.Total, there is about one inch of padding on each side of where the notebook is stored.

The clips that allow the bag to be hung around the shoulder are metal so they will not break off in the future after long use.Although metal clips sound like a small detail, they are really very important: in the past, my notebook case had a plastic clip that broke off as I was swinging the case over my shoulders; don’t let this happen to you.All the zippers on the case are made of metal as well.If the metal clips or the zippers break, the case is backed by a lifetime warranty.Thank you Targus!

The pocket that holds the notebook is very well padded.I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 with a 14.1 inch screen that fits very nicely.The case can probably hold notebooks up to 15 inches with no problems.The pocket that holds the notebook also has a small Velcro strip that goes across the notebook after it is put in. The zipper on the notebook pocket has two holes that a lock can go through.

There are 4 separate zippered compartments total.One is designed to hold papers and folders but is not large enough for a binder.One holds the notebook.The other two pockets can hold cables, a mouse, and other miscellaneous objects.I always carry my notebook, a mouse, a mouse pad, an Ethernet cable, iPod, iPod charger, iPod cable, notebook power adapter, and a USB flash drive and I still have space for more.

The price that Amazon has is a steal.Other cases of this quality will easily run $50 or more.

PS. The bag is not waterproof for those who want to know.

So – for those out there who still refer to Incredible Corruption – come on – own up – you know who you are – this one is for you!

Not only have Incredible Connection reviewed their prices and joined the competitive marketing fray – they also have improved their service levels substantially.

I bought a Targus Notebook wireless mouse from the for R349. When I got home I found that it didn’t work properly – it seemed as if it was tripping over pixels all across the screen. To say the least – I was seriously annoyed and I called up thei customer care. I was amazed that there were no arguments , no-one trying to convince me that I was some sort of technphobe who did not know how to use a mouse – rather , the guy just said – ‘Sure – bring it in & we will swop it for your’ Sure enough, I took it in and without a word of complain or coercion they took it back and let me pick another one. As I was about to get in line to pay the excess, one of the sales guys who happens to be a really super guy when it comes to helpfulness and just being to friendly – pointed out a difference between the one I had picked and the one I had just returned. Had he not pointed this out to me – I would have been taking (Microsoft)Mouse No 2[which happened to be priced lower than the same model stocked @ CNA! ] back – and the best part was that he was not even serving me! Now that is excellent service & i really hope to see more of it!

Way to go guys @ Cresta Incredible Connection!

Oh – and btw – the new mouse is a logitec wireless notebook and it is nothing short of superfine – beautifully crafted & a pleasure to use!
