This. Is. The. Most. Irritation. Error. Message. Ever. And. So. Is. This. Writing. Style. Seriously,

This. Is. The. Most. Irritation. Error. Message. Ever. And. So. Is. This. Writing. Style.

Seriously, when I get this, I freak out. What does this mean? That I’m not in control of my own computer? Shouldn’t I be incharge? But viruses think otherwise. They prefer to disable the task manager and the registry. And they amuse themselves. No amount of antiviruses out there can get rid of this. At least, that’s been the case with me. A Windows reinstall is always a viable option, but not in my case. My Intel 82845G Graphics Controller is so outdated, that even Intel doesn’t consider it to be worthy of getting a decent driver. The latest driver carries this stupid trojan, which disables important stuff. Tech gurus like me always like to mess up the Windows anatomy, and set it back again. Even novice users three-finger-salute Windows occasionally always, and kill processes. What now?

As always, here at Shadow Line comes another tutorial without using any third-party application. To fix this stupid error.

1] Open Notepad, by going to Start–>Run… and typing Notepad.

2] For enabling Task Manager, paste this:

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Or, for enabling Registry Editor, paste this:

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

3] Once you’ve pasted the required one, hit enter and open the Task Manager or Registry normally. Note that you’d have to do this always to open ‘em up

Lets take it a level further. Lets make a batch file, so that you can enable both with a single click from your desktop.

4] In Notepad, paste both the lines separated by a line.

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System  /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

REG add  HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v  DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

5] After you’ve done that, go to File –> Save. Save it as fix.bat. You can replace fix by anything. But the .bat thingy is important. Save it at the desktop. Its easily accessible now. Double-click it, and you should see a command-prompt window for a split second. Open Task Manager and Registry editor normally now. You have to repeat this again, if you want to access the registry once more.

But if you’re the busy types, and you want someone else to do the dirty work, I’ll help you. Download the batch file itself.

So, thats it! Its fixed! But if you really want to stay away from all these viruses, I suggest you go elsewhere.

I have been running Windows 7 for a week and 1 day, and today I have already experienced a major iss

I have been running Windows 7 for a week and 1 day, and today I have already experienced a major issue. When starting internet explore the CPU usage starts to running at a constant 100%, slowing down my computer. I can’t really reproduce the error every time, but I have my suspicions. I have had the error 2 times, first after visiting YouTube, and then some days later visiting a news site. Common for these site are use of flash, and maybe flash could mess something up. I’m not 100% sure, but it is something I will look after. As a note, I have to mention: the issue did not disappear after reboot, but reappeared after starting Internet Explore.

Either to fix this/these 100% usage issues, I use Task Manager. Selecting the Processes tab I can see which process uses most computer time. Well, here is one catch, Windows 7(and Vista) hides System processes, so the button Show processes from All users must be pressed. System processes which uses to much CPU are not shown by default, which can give a distorted image, when all processes shows 0 under CPU, and CPU Usage are 100%.

A healthy idle system should show System idle process as the must time consuming process, but in my case it was svchost.exe. This was expected but annoying, because ProcessExplorer represents a group of services, but it doesn’t tell me wich. Pressing the Services tab in the Task Manager, shows me all the services it could be. The best way to find the sick service, is to use ProcessExplorer, which is a super a task manager from Microsoft. You can get it free here at Microsoft’s tech page:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Opening ProcessExplorer, you can see all your processes running. Now find the svchost.exe which uses the most CPU time, and hold the mouse pointer over the text: svchost.exe. Now ProcessExplorer tells you what services it runs, and often it runs more than one. I my 2 issue cases it was my upnphost service which was the sinner. My solution to the problem was to press the Windows button in the bottom left corner, right click on computer and select manage. Then select Services and Applications and then Services. Then find UPnP Device Host (or what your sick service is called), right click press STOP, watch the CPU usage drop, press START.

Good Debugging

Auslogics Task Manager 1.5.6.125

License : Freeware
Developer : Auslogics Software Pty Ltd (visit page)
Dowbload : http://www.fileinspect.com/task-manager/

Kebalikannya “unknown” alias belum diketahui. Anda bisa klick kanan dan pilih “search it on FileInspect” untuk mengetahui aplikasi itu trustworthy (aman) atau tidak.
Dibawag anda bisa melihat cpu usage, memory usage, disk activity sampai internet traffic
>>Processes

Step 2 (Other Stuff)
Anda bisa mereplace task manager default bawaan windows dengan aplikasi ini, jadi jika anda jika anda menekan ctrl + alt + del, secara otomatis akan membuka Auslogics Task Manager, caranya klick options – pilih replace standard task manager.
Yaa task manager ini cukup memberikan alternative jika anda ingin mencoba coba task manager lain, interface’nya cukup user friendly dan mudah digunakan

I’m sure you are familiar with the traditional way to kill or end a process in Windows using T

I’m sure you are familiar with the traditional way to kill or end a process in Windows using Task Manager. This method is effective but not nearly as fun as killing a process in Command Prompt. Additionally, killing processes in Command Prompt provides much more control and the ability to end multiple processes at once.

All of this is possible with the TaskKill command. First, let’s cover the basics. You can kill a process by the process ID (PID) or by image name (EXE filename).

Open up an Administrative level Command Prompt and run tasklist to see all of the running processes:

C:\>tasklist

Image Name PID Session Name Mem Usage
===========               ==============       ========
firefox.exe                  26356 Console             139,352 K
regedit.exe                  24244 Console               9,768 K
cmd.exe                      18664 Console               2,380 K
conhost.exe                   2528 Console               7,852 K
notepad.exe                  17364 Console               7,892 K
notepad.exe                  24696 Console              22,028 K
notepad.exe                  25304 Console               5,852 K
explorer.exe                  2864 Console              72,232 K
In the example above you can see the image name and the PID for each process. If you want to kill the firefox process run:

C:\>Taskkill /IM firefox.exe /F

or
C:\>Taskkill /PID 26356 /F

The /f flag is kills the process forcefully. Failure to use the /F flag will result in nothing happening in some cases. One example is whenever I want to kill the explorer.exe process I have to use the /F flag or else the process just does not terminate.

If you have multiple instances of an image open such as multiple firefox.exe processes, running the taskkill /IM firefox.exe command will kill all instances. When you specify the PID only the specific instane of firefox will be terminated.

The real power of taskkill are the filtering options that allow you to use the following variables and operators.

Variables:

    *STATUS
* IMAGENAME
* PID
* SESSION
* CPUTIME
* MEMUSAGE
* USERNAME
* MODULES
* SERVICES
* WINDOWTITLE

Operators:

    * eq (equals)
* ne (not equal)
* gt (greater than)
* lt (less than)
* ge (greater than or equal)
* le (less than or equal)

“*” is the wildcard.

You can use the variables and operators with the /FI filtering flag. For example, let’s say you want to end all processes that have a window title that starts with “Internet“:
C:\>taskkill /FI “WINDOWTITLE eq Internet*” /F

To learn more about taskkill run it with the /? command just like any other Windows command.

I haven’t written anything up recently so I thought I would start off with the fact that I am now using Google chrome as my default browser. I’m using windows, so I can’t say whether its good or not on anything but windows, but on Windows it is astonishing. Now it doesn’t have anything new with add-ons or plugins, I would still say firefox is the best at that.

But Google does best what I want most from my browser – its FAST!

And I don’t just mean its slightly quicker than others, they seem to pale in comparison to chrome.

It has a nice speed-dial type page when opening a new page, like safari or opera, where it shows the most viewed pages and recently closed.

But there are 2 main touches that I really like, one of which makes me think it should be the default browser on computers in libraries etc.

That feature is called incognito mode, this basically opens a new window, where the only difference is that it doesn’t save the history of the pages, and also doesn’t save any cookies. Plus I also like the fact that if a tab crashes in either of these modes you don’t have to close the whole browser down, but instead chrome has its own task manager that shows the memory each tab is taking up etc. But its mostly helpful because you can end the process i.e the tab.

Plus if you want more, there’s a hyperlink at the bottom called ‘more stats for nerds’. This simply opens a new tab with the address about:memory. This shows all the memory being used and in detail by all the tabs and plugins. Plus if you have more than one browser opened at once, it tells you how much memory each is taking up, so that you can clearly compare them.

The only problem I would have with chrome is that if you have a lot of tabs open when starting it up for the first time, it can take a while, but still only as long as firefox, otherwise it starts up a lot faster than any browser I’ve used before.

I think if you have a netbook like mine, the nc10 or something else, chrome is ideal if it has windows on it.

If your computer is slow at startup, the reason for that may be because there are too many programs

If your computer is slow at startup, the reason for that may be because there are too many programs that start up while the operating system is loading. Most of the times when you download programs from the Internet, they are set up to load automatically when the computer is started. This normally results in slowing down the startup process of the computer, especially in Windows based systems.

Sometimes, you might also have spyware, viruses or trojan horses that install themselves into the startup folders whilst you’re browsing the net. It is always safe to keep track of which programs and processes are running at all times, and to terminate those that are not required. By doing this, you’ll also be saving some system resources, which otherwise would be held up by unidentifiable and/or unwanted programs.

To end running processes and programs, you can hit Ctrl+Alt+Del. This launches the Task Manager. From the Processes tab, you can terminate the programs you’re not using. However, this does not eliminate the unwanted programs from the startup list completely because when you restart the computer, there they are again, silently running in the background and wasting your RAM.

The best ways to clean up the list of startup programs is as follows: First navigate to this folder: Start/Programs/Startup and remove the shortcuts to the programs that you’d rather not have launched at startup. Secondly, visit the MSCONFIG utility and change the startup options from there.

You do this by clicking on Start > Run, then typing in ‘msconfig’ and hitting the Enter key. This brings up a dialog box. Click on the ‘Startup’ tab and uncheck all the programs that you don’t wish to launch when the computer is started. You’ll notice many programs that run in the background but are not really required.

Finally, the last thing you can do is change program options or settings from the program itself, for instance MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Skype all have a tools/options or options/preferences menu from where you can choose not to have the program started when Windows is started.

This is a very useful tip and you’ll notice that your computer’s booting process also becomes faster since these unwanted programs no longer occupy the memory resources unnecessarily. Do leave comments on any other ways you can clean out your system and make it more efficient.
