Zumindest hat das Carlos Ghosn jetzt auf einer Pressekonferenz gesagt und versprochen, dass der Renault-Nissan Konzern ein Auto auf den Markt bringen wird, dass noch günstiger als der Nano ist!</p>
<p>Pläne, gemeinsam mit Bajaj Auto, einem weiteren indischen Autohersteller, ein technisch einfaches, sehr kleines und für die Bevölkerung auf dem Subkontinent leistbares Auto zu bauen, <a href="http://nissanfan.wordpress.com/2008/06/30/grune-nissan-technologie-in-autos-von-kooperationspartnern/" target="_blank">gibt es ohnehin schon länger</a>, aber im letzten Jahr war davon nichts mehr zu hören gewesen&#8230;<!--more--></p>
<p>Diese Verzögerungen hängen laut Ghosn damit zusammen, dass weder Nissan noch Bajaj bisher darin Erfahrung hatten, ein derartiges Fahrzeug zu konstruieren. <strong>Der ursprünglich für 2011 anvisierte Marktstart dürfte deswegen auch nicht mehr einzuhalten sein, kommen soll der automobile Winzling fix</strong>. Sollte ihm in Indien Erfolg beschieden sein, könnte es sogar sein, dass er es auf diverse Exportmärkte schafft, wobei vor allem andere Schwellenländer in Asien beglückt werden dürften. Nach Europa, Japan oder in die USA wird er hingegen wohl kaum kommen, obwohl das nicht ganz ausgeschlossen ist. Schließlich soll auch der Nano in einer aufgefetteten Version irgendwann die Fahrer in den Industrieländern glücklich machen *g*.</p>

<p>Being the world&#8217;s cheapest car at $2,500, you wouldn&#8217;t expect people to complain about the Tata Nano&#8217;s features. Looks like people have been complaining though, and luckily for them Tata has been listening, and is planning changes for the Nano based on this feedback.</p>
<p>One of the biggest complaints is the speed, or rather lack of. That&#8217;s to be expected in a car with only 33hp, but nonetheless, Tata will be trying to improve this by raising the red line from 5,000RPM to 6,000RPM. They are also considering a five-speed manual gearbox, but the Indian market will likely continue using the current four-speed.</p>
<p>The electronic limit of 65mph will remain for safety reasons, and that limit renders the fifth gear obsolete, but the European market will be getting a five-speed manual nonetheless. Perhaps the limit will be lifted or raised for them.</p>
<p>Another feature that will be added is a tailgate. The current Nano doesn&#8217;t have a hatch at the back, or door or anything at all, so to get into the trunk you have to go to the rear row of seats and fold the seats down. There will also be a new side mirror assembly to make way for future power mirrors and a &#8220;check strap&#8221; for limiting how far the doors open.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m just wondering what all these changes will do to the price, especially with Nissan now hunting the Nano down, and the Japanese are brilliant at good value for money.</p>

Tata Moters has launched &#8216;Nano&#8217; with an extremely low starting price. Nano is expected to be lapped up by Indian families hoping to graduate from two wheeler to four wheeler. The car is very fuel efficient, achieving around 26 kilometres per litres. The Nano has 21% more interior space and 8%&#160; small exterior compared to its closest rival, <strong><a href="http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Maruti/Maruti_800">Maruti 800</a></strong>. <strong><a href="http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Tata/Tata_Nano">Tata Nano</a></strong> has offered its three version &#8211; Basic <strong><a href="http://www.cardekho.com/carmodels/Tata/Tata_Nano">Tata Nano</a></strong>, Cx and Lx. It has 690cc diesel engine with compressed air as an energy source.</p>

It ha a powertrain at the rear and combines both space and manoeuvrability which will set a new benchmark among small cars.And low price makes the car affordable for any families which increases the standard and economy of the country.</p>

<p>In the previous two posts I have explored global government spending, with specific emphasis on military, education and healthcare as well as the size of corporations and their relation to the size of national government. In this post I will present some interesting information with respect to consumerism.</p>
<p>What we are seeking is a little perspective as relates to understanding the problems and challenges (or opportunities depending on your point of view) that are facing all of humanity.</p>
<p>According to the World Bank Development Indicators released in 2008 based on data from 2005:</p>
<p>•<strong> The World’s richest 20% consume 76.6% of private consumption<br />
•	The World’s middle 60% consume 21.9% of private consumption<br />
•	The World’s poorest 20% consume 1.5% of private consumption</strong></p>

<p>Just in these 5 consumer spending data points almost $<strong>4.37 Trillion USD</strong> is spent. As of today the United States Census Bureau estimates that the world population is 6,793,000,000 which means that the G8 represent <strong>only 12%</strong> of the global population. Moreover, the total consumer spend on these 5 areas could pay for the achievement of the <strong><em>Millennium Development Goals more than 29 times.</em></strong></p>
<p>Advertisers will spend almost $500B on all mediums this year to get your attention and drive your desire to consume. Due to this reach is it any wonder that global spend on the following is estimated to be:</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>$1,000,000,000,000 on tourism<br />
$100,000,000,000 on bottled water<br />
$90,000,000,000 on chocolate<br />
$18,000,000,000 on cosmetics</strong></p>
<p>It is estimated that 58,000,000 cars will be made this year. Bringing the total number of passenger vehicles on the Earth to approximately 620,000,000. It takes approximately 20 – 30 hours to make the average American car. Meaning the labour cost is approximately $2,100 or roughly the equivalent of the consumer price for a Tata Nano.</p>
<p>I am not advocating a position that is anticonsumerism. However, I am clearly advocating that the hyperconsumerism as brought on by hyperindividuality and a clear lessening of community that we as a society, a global society, have lost sight of those things that are most important. I believe firmly in the principles as set forth in the Preamble to the United Nations Charter:</p>
<p>“WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED<br />
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and<br />

Grande Punto was the last car that came from Fiat’s stable. Now, Fiat is planning to launch new cars in India.</p>
<p>Fiat is expected to come out with its small car in 2011-2012. It is also supposed that the upcoming small car from Fiat will be priced at Rs 3-4 Lakh. Fiat at present is looking for the many engine options for its small car. The engine options ranges from 900 cc to 1200 cc. This mew small car will be positioned between <a href="http://www.carazoo.com/tata/nano"><strong>Tata Nano</strong></a> and the Grande Punto. And it will have a strong competitor in <a href="http://blog.carazoo.com/2009/09/ford-figo-unveiled.html"><strong>Ford Figo</strong></a>, the upcoming small car from Ford..</p>
<p>Fiat is targeting to sell 2,00,000 cars by 2012 with an aim of reaching a 7-8 per cent market share. Fiat is also planning to bring in LCVs and premium to India. It is expected that the company will launch Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) in 2012-2014. The company will go on with constructing its network and manufacturing capabilities to produce its own market in India and also a sturdy base for exports of small cars.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I am sure nobody will dispute on this matter that during his lifetime, Ratan Tata was the most admired businessman of India, probably the most respected too. I was reading a news magazine yesterday where I read an interview of Ratan Das Tata, on his life, on TATA Nano, future aspects of Tata Group etc. He is truly one of those businessman who has finally succeeded in inheriting his title. He is not at all upset with Mamata Banerjee, nor he is too happy to shift his Nano plant in Gujarat. He said, <em>&#8220;like a mother protects her child from doing any unwilling activities, similarly Mamata Banerjee has protected her child, West Bengal falling under the industrialization of Tata Group. She did no wrong.&#8221;</em></p>

<p><em> </em>I just read this line and went into the phase which was 10 years ago. The phase when the Tatas were struggling to reinvest their entire business in the post JRD era. It just gave me a thought on how Ratan Tata would have sensed then, the anger against many of the protectors of the JRD regime. It was during this time when the license permit quota raj was finally ended. New groups were forming every now and then. The certainties of the economy was finally collapsed. It was finally a time to <em>change</em>.</p>
<p>It was during this time when companies like <em>Infosys</em> and <em>Reliance</em> had just started their regime. Reliance was seen as the most powerful industrial phenomenon in the history of Indian economy whereas Infosys personified its business growth under the leadership of <em>Narayan Murthy</em>, marked by world class high talented technical team.</p>
<p>What was going on at Tata Headquarters during this time? We saw that there were record losses at Tata Motors, the crisis was mounted. It was during this time when there were criminal charges over Tata tea&#8217;s links with the militants of Assam, it was during this time when JRD Tata decided to launch <em>Tata Indica</em>, it was during this time when there were allegations in the sale of <em>Tata Oil Mill&#8217;s assets</em>, it was during this time when Tata decided to launch a domestic airlines with collaboration of  <em>Singapore Airlines</em>. All these plans were seemed to be scuttled. The entire country was watching India&#8217;s largest Industrial power diminishing before their eyes.</p>
<p>The JRD Tata Group was seen crumbling. It was becoming impossible for the shy Ratan Tata to cope up with so many problems.</p>
<p>And then there was a reborn of same Ratan Tata, merely a decade later, who became the world&#8217;s Media man, who reinvented the idea of motor car. He did something which was not even possible for a global car maker to do, i.e. to build a car which looked so good and unique and available at low prices.  And then there was a new Ratan Tata. He brought <em>Tata Nano</em> in front of the entire world. He faced huge number of negative feedback for Nano, especially from the environmentalists who claimed Tata Nano being the pollution threat and but of course from our own Mamata Banerjee, who sacrificed her day and night to force Ratan Tata to move his car plant out of West Bengal.</p>
<p>As soon as Nano was launched, it managed all the impossibilities. Not a single negative review and there were no ends of the raves. As there was huge competition going in the car market, Ratan Tata kept to the price commitment. The input price of Nano was higher than what he expected but even then he did not increase the price of Nano. It is still sold at Rupees One Lakh only.</p>
<p>The success of Tata Nano made Ratan Tata forget all the losses (600 crore) of the past when Nano gave them huge profits not only in India but overseas too. He also recovered his previous losses with Tata Indica, the dream car of Ratan Tata. People thought that the launch of Tata Indica will take the Tata Group into the sink, but nothing of this sort happened. In the very first year Tata Indica earned huge profits and it marked Ratan Tata to stand once again in the battle of Industrialization.</p>
<p>In the early 1990&#8217;s when nobody noticed Tata Consultancy Services or TCS. But all of a sudden it was TCS which started dominating the Indian IT sector though it had the toughest competitor around, the Infosys. The slim and lean company Tata Group was successful enough in buying the global giant, <em>Corus</em>. The plan for building the world&#8217;s cheapest car on roads was finalized and even then Tata&#8217;s were on the verge of purchasing the world&#8217;s greatest luxury car, <em>the Jaguar</em>.</p>

<p>It is seriously unbelievable for me that how can so many people who knew Ratan Tata so well got him wrong? I am sure the business pundits have the answer of this question even though it was these pundits who left not a single chance to criticize about Ratan Tata and his way of doing business.</p>
<p>Ratan Tata realized India was changing. He knew that the old formula which worked so well with Indian companies where the old man was the emperor and the companies were in the hands of the viceroys will not give his company good results. He had a plan. He professionalized the entire Tata Management, democratized it and was very successful in abounding the feudalism and got all the things done under his supervision. He formed a company that had no room for any emperors or viceroys.</p>
<p>He decided that this was the best time to plan about the future of the Tata Group and then he brought TCS in the limelight. He decided to go global. He grabbed the opportunities for globalization in such a way which was not not done by any of the Industrialist. Look at his intelligence. He had full faith in the team of young India and as a result of this trust he decided that he will give all the responsibilities of Tata Nano to the young group. Though he was a shy person but he never lost a single opportunity in motivating his team. He is a very warm and outgoing person.</p>
<p>The best thing about Ratan Tata is that he never cared for the government. Tatas are the only group that has faced the maximum governmental harassment. He was never in favor of paying bribes to them. He never complained about these government people to the Prime Minister. No matter he is losing a project because of all this, he never lost his principles. He made his own principles and always followed his heart. It was in his heart to built the India&#8217;s cheapest car.</p>
<p>He told in a press conference that he has seen family of four on a scooter or a bike. He asked his heart that why cant we give these families a car where all these four people can safely travel. There were many other reasons behind building Nano, but I personally believe that this is the best among the all.</p>
<p>It is quite possible to be honest and win the world like Ratan Tata did it.</p>
<p>This is the new India. The young India.</p>

<li>It would be our first Business Idea prototype from Avval Business Ideas Pvt. Ltd.</li>
<li>Our modified version of Nano would be named Seerat</li>
<li>The roof would be the first thing to go off and would be replaced with toughened glass</li>
<li>The back seats would move out and become flat platform</li>
<li>Air Bags would come in</li>
<li>The front seats would be moved out and replaced with power controlled seats with lumber support and would be  connected to an additional battery</li>
<li>Rear wiper with spray would be added</li>
<li>The rear view mirrors would get power control and indicator lights</li>
<li>Front lights would get an internal row of LED circle &#8211; blue tint</li>
<li>Rear/ Back light unit would be replaced with an LED panel</li>
<li>Steering gets replaced with Audio controls</li>
<li>A special U lights comes at the front and rear</li>
<li>Tubeless tyres (If available in this size)</li>
<li>Gets Alloys</li>
<li>Gets a protective shield to cover the bottom</li>
<li>Gets a four speaker music system</li>
<li>Essentially a two seater, we would need to plan what we do with the rear doors, if possible we would close one and make the other remote controlled  lift up gate for shopping and such</li>
</ol>
<p>I would love to implement more ideas, if they are practical. The idea is t make the car a small fun car for the family which does service in 5-7 KM radius for local errands, in 100% self drive mode</p>

Pembuat Tata Nano tetap bertekad membuat mobil tersebut meski didemo sehingga harus memindahkan pabriknya serta mendapat berbagai kritik yang menjatuhkan</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>KOMPAS.com</strong> — Tata akhirnya meluncurkan mobil kecil yang sangat menghebohkan dunia, yaitu Nano. Mobil kecil ini bikin heboh karena harganya paling murah di dunia saat ini. Di negara asalnya ditawarkan satu lakh (100.000 rupee). Kalau dikonversi ke rupiah sama dengan Rp 24 juta. Kalau dibelikan sepeda motor, dapat satu Honda Tiger atau dua unit motor bebek.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Tahun lalu, ketika Tata Motor memperkenalkan Nano, masih banyak orang yang ragu dengan harga itu. Termasuk para pelaku bisnis mobil di Indonesia. Namun, saat peluncuran Senin lalu— meski telah terjadi kenaikan harga baja, dan berbagai material lainnya— Ratan Tata mengatakan, “Saya harus menepati janji.”</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Pemakai Motor</strong>. Mengapa Tata Motors bisa membuat mobil semurah itu? Apa saja yang diperoleh konsumen dari mobil seharga itu?</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Nano adalah mobil dengan panjang 3,1 meter, menggunakan mesin 2 silinder, 624 cc dan mampu menghasilkan tenaga 33PS. Konsumsi bahan bakarnya 20 km/liter dan bisa membawa 4-5 penumpang. Kecepatan maksimum 105 km/jam. Ratan Tata sendiri, ketika berada di interior, kepalanya hampir menyentuh langit-langit.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Mobil ini tidak punya AC, <em>booster</em> rem<em>, power steering</em>, radio, dan kaca spion dalam. Penghapus kaca pun hanya satu. Interiornya sangat sederhana. Justru kesederhanaan itulah target Tata membuat Nano. Karena sangat sederhana, media Eropa mengomentari, “Kalau dipasarkan ke Eropa, mobil ini harus ganti kaca, lampu-lampu, ban, <em>seatbelt</em>, dan sebagainya.”</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Tata Motors dengan bisnis utamanya adalah truk atau kendaraan komersial berusaha mengurangi penggunaan baja pada mobil ini. Agar bobot Nano lebih ringan, mesin dibuat dari alumunium.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Perusahaan ini dinilai berhasil mengeksploitasi para insinyur India menciptakan mobil sederhana dengan target konsumen khusus, yaitu mereka yang saat ini hanya bisa membeli sepeda motor.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Di India sendiri, seperti Indonesia, konsumen sepeda motor sangat tinggi. Tahun lalu, penjualan kendaraan bermotor roda dua di negara itu mencapai 7 juta unit. Sebagai pembanding, penjualan sepeda motor di Indonesia tahun lalu 6,2 juta unit.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Separuh Harga</strong>. Di India, Nano ditawarkan separuh dari kompetitor terdekatnya, yaitu Maruti, yang dibuat oleh Maruti Udyog. Meski dimensinya 8 persen lebih kecil dari Maruti, tetapi interiornya 21 persen lebih lega. Inilah yang membuat keluarga menengah ke bawah India yang selama ini mengandalkan sepeda motor juga menunggu kehadiran mobil ini.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Seperti dikatakan Ratan Tata, bos Tata Motors, ketika memperkenalkan mobil ini tahun lalu, ide melahirkan Nano ini muncul setelah hatinya tersentuh melihat banyak keluarga di India hanya mampu membeli skuter sebagai kendaraan keluarga. Bapak mengendarai skuter, anak berdiri di depan, dan istri duduk di belakang sembari mengendong bayinya.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">“Muncul pertanyaan pada diri saya, bagaimana membuat kendaraan murah dan aman untuk keluarga tersebut,” kenang Ratan. Saat itu, terpikir olehnya menggabungkan dua skuter sekaligus untuk menciptakan kendaraan murah.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Sebagai industriawan dan pebisnis hebat, Ratan lantas minta kepada orang-orang muda India yang direkrutnya untuk membuat mobil murah, tetapi tetap memenuhi berbagai standar keamanan dan emisi gas buang. Lahirlah Nano.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Targetnya, konsumen kelas bawah dan yang pertama kali punya mobil. Meski sederhana, Nano dinilai lebih baik dan manusiawi dibandingkan sepeda motor. Mobil ini bisa ditumpangi 4 sampai 5 anggota keluarga dengan kondisi lebih aman dan tentu saja tidak mudah kehujananan, seperti motor.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Didemo</strong>. Tak mudah pula bagi Ratan Tata mewujudkan proyek ini. Selain muncul berbagai kritik, pabriknya juga didemo. Akhirnya, pabrik Nano dipindahkan dari Banglore Gujarat. Serangan tak kalah gencar—terutama menjelang peluncuran Nano—muncul cerita tentang krisis yang dialami perusahaan mobil Inggris yang dibelinya dari Ford tahun lalu, yaitu Jaguar dan Land Rover. Diceritakan, Jaguar sedang mengalami kesulitan keuangan.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Meski begitu, ada pula yang berpikir positif bahwa yang dilakukan oleh Tata Motors adalah inovasi dengan terobosan dahsyat. Malah ada yang menilai inovasi tiga dimensi dalam industri dan bisnis otomotif. Pasalnya, tidak hanya produk yang dinilai inovatif, juga sistem produksi dan distribusinya.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Revolusi Modular</strong>. Inovasi lain yang tidak banyak dilihat orang—kecuali produk—dan justru dianggap paling inovatif adalah desain modularnya. Nano dibentuk oleh komponen yang dapat dibuat dan dikirim secara terpisah untuk dirakit di berbagai lokasi. Karena itulah, Nano dijual dalam bentuk kit yang didistribusikan, dijual, dan pelayanannya langsung dilakukan oleh pengusaha lokal.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ratan Tata, dalam suatu wawancara dengan <em>The Time of London</em>, mengatakan, “Sekelompok pengusaha dapat mengembangkan perakitan dan Tata akan melatih mereka, juga menjamin kualitas kerja mereka. Mereka akan menjadi satelit kami dalam operasional perakitan.”</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Untuk itu, Tata Motors membuat komponen massal dan mengirimkannya ke <em>dealer</em> sebagai <em>kits</em>. Mereka yang akan menjadi agen akan diberi pelatihan, sedangkan mereka yang bertugas memberikan layanan purna jual dilengkapi dengan telepon genggam dan skuter untuk mencapai daerah pelosok.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>30 Juta</strong>. Sejak diperkenalkan awal tahun lalu, <em>website</em> Tata telah dikunjungi  lebih dari 30 juta peminat Nano. Menurut Tata, juga telah tercipta 6.000 kelompok dan komunitas Nano. Sebuah gambaran bahwa begitu besarnya minat masyarakat pada mobil ini.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Peminat Nano tidak hanya dari India, tetapi banyak negara, terutama yang berkembang, seperti Timur Tengah dan Amerika Selatan. Dengan kemampuan produksi awal 250.000 unit/tahun, para peminat itu tampaknya harus menunggu lama. Kondisi ini dipastikan akan menimbulkan rasa kecewa bagi peminatnya. Ternyata tak mudah mendapatkan mobil murah!</p>

V tehnološkem smislu ni nič posebnega. Inovativnost je seveda v ceni in v tem, kako so prišli do takšne cene. Inovativnost je tudi v distribuciji KIT verzije do lokalnih avtomehanikov, ki avto sestavijo.</p>
<p>Direktor <a class="zem_slink" title="Ratan Naval Tata" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratan_Naval_Tata">Ratan Tata</a> se je odločil, da bo inovativnost postal glavna prioriteta in vgrajena v gene, tako da bo vsak zaposlen deloval kot inovator, kot opisuje prispevek v <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/innovate/content/aug2009/id20090819_070601.htm?campaign_id=rss_innovate" target="_blank">Bussinesweeku</a>. Ta kulturna sprememba se je lahko pričela le na samem vrhu podjetja. Ustanovili so voditeljski forum z glavno nalogo navdihovanja in deljanja najboljših praks. Forum sestavljajo  glavni vodilni v podjetju.</p>
<p>V podjetju gradijo <strong>kulturo ustvarjalnega nezadovoljstva</strong>, ki spodbuja zaposlene, da neprestano razmišljajo o izboljšavah in za tak način razmišljanja ljudi tudi stalno usposabljajo.  Portal IdeaMax je namenjen zbiranju  in ocenjevanju idej zaposlenih in posega v področje skupinske   &#8211; množične inteligence.</p>
<p>Zopet sami elementi te njihove inovativnosti niso nič posebej novega. Nova pa je radikalnost odločitve, da bo inovativnost glavna prioriteta. Tukaj je enaka radikalnost, k je pripeljala do najcenejšega avta: z lahkoto potegnemo vzporednico odločilne vloge glavnega vodstva pri iniciranju tega.</p>
<p>Prepričan sem, da ni tako pomembno kakšne metode in orodja uporabimo, <strong>pomembna je odločitev vodstva</strong>, vztrajanje pri tej odločitvi in vzpodbujanje zaposlenih, da sledijo odločitvi <strong>vse-vsi-vedno-inoviranja.</strong></p>

<p>It all started because of my enthusiastic Mom.. One day in the mid of April she came home with a brochure in her hand. That’s when I realized that she was interested in the Tata Nano. Since I’m her elder daughter ( and her advisor J ) I was told to suggest a colour for the car. I voted for Lunar Silver and was backed by my sister. We booked the Lunar Silver LX Model Nano.. None of us had the slightest hope that we are gonna get the Nano allotted since it was very well known that only a very few out of the 2,00,000 + applicants are going to get their cars in the 1st allotment. So we kept the news about our booking a secret. None of us were really very bothered ‘cause we already had a WagonR which is working fine.</p>
<p>Then came the month of July when we came to know that the Tata has announced the 1st allotment for Nano. In the evening I saw a message in my mom’s mobile congratulating her for being the lucky owner of a Nano car. I was truly surprised and until my mom confirmed the news with the dealer none of us actually believed it. The days that followed were filled with excitement. All of us were awaiting the Nano.. Finally the day arrived when the Nano had to come home. It was on the 21st of August, 2009. For 3 districts( Alleppey, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam) a total of only 11 cars had arrived and our car was one of them!!! It was distributed at a grand ceremony held in the R F Motors showroom at Ernakulam with full media coverage. We had to travel 120kms to bring our Nano home. I could not go to Ernakulum since I had to attend college. It was a long wait for the car at home. At about 10:30 pm the car reached home. We were one among the first 11  Nano owners in Kerala.. YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!</p>
<p>It was a wonder to see such a bubbly car.. It really looks like a bubble. Barely any bonnet… A rounded body… it’s a marvel to see it being driven.. But once u get in ,there is more surprise in store for you.. No one will feel that he/she is sitting in the smallest car in India. There’s a lot of space inside. The seats can be adjusted since it’s the LX model. There’s a lot of leg-space. My family is comprised of only tall people including me. And for any tall family like our’s it’s a relief to see such space in the interior.. There is a lot of space in the rear seats too. 3 people can comfortably travel at the rear part. The engine is at the rear portion and the engine compartment can be accessed by folding the back seat. One more strange feature is that the petrol has to be filled into the space provided in the bonnet unlike other cars where its at the side of the rear portion. And also there is just one wiper provided at the front and a single side-view mirror.</p>

<p>Since the car is a small one the air conditioning has a very good cooling effect. The model comes with a centralized locking system ,fabric seats and automatic front windows. There is no power steering but the car is easy to control and very easy to manage at turnings. Form my own experience I can say that driving a Nano is really easy even for women. It doesn’t consume much space and thus is perfect for the city where parking space is a major issue. The transition between gears is also smooth. We cannot call the Nano a silent car like the Maruti cars. Its engine is 624 cc and makes a humming noise. But after 2 drives we have all easily adjusted to the sound. The spare wheel is kept in the bonnet. The car goes smoothly at speeds until 80- 90 kms/hr . Above this speed we experience a shiver inside the car and that makes the car unfit for guys who like speeding in their trendy cars.</p>

<p>The positioning of the speedometer and indicators break the monotony of the design. There is an extra indicator signal which flashes next to the speedometer to denote any problem with the engine. The petrol tank has a capacity of 15 Litres. <strong><span style="color:#993300;">The most attractive feature of the Nano is its mileage. I’ve experienced the superb mileage of 22 kms/L in my Nano!!</span></strong></p>
<p>Some price-cutting features of the Nano are:</p>
<ul>
<li>The Nano&#8217;s trunk does not open. Instead, the rear seats can be folded down to access the trunk space.</li>
<li>It has a single windscreen wiper instead of the usual pair.</li>
<li>It has no power steering.</li>
<li>Its door opening lever was simplified.</li>
<li>It has three nuts on the wheels instead of the customary four.</li>
<li>It only has one side view mirror.</li>
</ul>
<p>I’m really enjoying the experience of owning a Nano It’s the 1st and only Nano in our town at present. The look in every person’s eye is great to observe as he/she sees this new car on the road. Many people stop their cars or scooters to get a better view. Many people take photos of the car from various angles. Once we park the car somewhere then there is no escape at all.. Each and every person has some question or other to ask. Children are the 1st ones to recognize the Nano. Its good to know that even the people of our small and remote village are well aware of the innovations taking place in our country!! The Tata Nano has made us famous in town just in a single drive. Now everyone recognizes us as the “Nano Owners”. Thanks to our cute Nano and the whole Tata group.</p>
<p>Now we are waiting for our Dad to come home and have a drive in our brand new car. He is our motor expert and our Nano is awaiting his ratings..</p>
