Recently, the biggest insurance company of private sector, TATA AIG launches life InvestAssure Superstar ULIP plan. ULIP is known as Unit-Linked Life Insurance Plan. The plan is dedicated to the children’s education. The plan is known as InvestAssure Superstar.

InvestAssure Superstar will pay the sum assured to the nominee in case of the parent’s or proposer’s demise unfortunately. In this case, the further premium will be paid by the company through the inbuilt Waiver of Premium. WOP pays the premium among other benefits also.

October 10, 2009-MESSAGE FORWARDED BY Mr.Venkatesh Murthy. Meeting with H N Srinivas – Senior Executive Vice President, Taj Group of Hotels

Last evening, I had a dinner meeting with HNS in Goa (I was there fora National Institute of Personnel Management conference – as aspeaker). He narrated the 26th November 2008 terror attack on Taj Mumbai andthere were some important points.

A.      Terrorist entry

1.       They entered from the Leopold Colaba hotel entrance and also from the northern entrance – spraying indiscriminate bullets on the Taj security personnel and guests in general.

2.      Though Taj had a reasonable security – they were surely not equipped to deal with terrorists who were spraying 6 bullets per trigger.
3.      The strategy of the terrorists was to throw chunks of RDX in an open area that will explode and burn – creating chaos so that the guests and staff run helter skelter so that the terrorists could kill them. The idea was to create maximum casualties.
4.      There were several critical gatherings and functions happening in the hotel on that day – a Bohra wedding, global meet of Unilever CEOs and Board members and 2 other corporate meetings were being held in the hotel – besides the usual crowd.
5.      The firing and chaos began at about 8.30 p.m. and the staff including employees on casual and contract basis displayed exemplary presence of mind, courage and sacrifice to protect the guests who were in various halls and conference rooms.

B.Stories of Staff Heroics- The unsung heroes

1.      A young lady guest relation executive with the HLL gathering stopped any of the members going out and volunteered 3 times to go out and get stuff such as ice cubes for whiskey of the guests when the
situation outside the hall was very explosives and she could have been easily the target of the bullets
2.      Thomas George a captain escorted 54 guests from a backdoor staircase and when he was going down last he was shot by the terrorists
3.      There were 500 emails from various guests narrating heroics of the staff and thanking them for saving their lives
4.      In a subsequent function, Ratan Tata broke down in full public view and sobbed saying – “the company belongs to these people”. The wife of Thomas George who laid his life saving others said, she and the kids were proud of the man and that she did not know that for 25 years she lived with a man who was so courageous and brave
5.      The episode happened on 26th November, a significant part of the hotel was burnt down and destroyed – the hotel was re-opened on 21st December and all the employees of the hotel were paraded in front of the guests
6.      It was clearly a saga of extra-ordinary heroics by ordinary people for their organisation and in a way for their country. The sense of duty and service was unprecedented
7.      The young lady who protected and looked after the HLL guests was a management trainee and we often speak of juniority and seniority in the organisation. She had no instructions from any supervisor to do what she did
a.      She took just 3 minutes to rescue the entire team through the kitchen
b.      Cars were organised outside the hotel as per seniority of the members
c.      In the peak of the crisis, she stepped out and got the right wine glass for the guest
8.      People who exhibited courage included janitors, waiters, directors, artisans and captains – all level of people

C. THE TATA GESTURE-APPRECIATE AND LEARN

1.      All category of employees including those who had completed even day as casuals were treated on duty during the time the hotel was closed
2.      Relief and assistance to all those who were injured and killed
3.      The relief and assistance was extended to all those who died at the railway station, surroundings including the “Pav-Bhaji” vendor and the pan shop owners
4.      During the time the hotel was closed, the salaries were sent my money order
5.      A psychiatric cell was established in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences to counsel those who needed such help
6.      The thoughts and anxieties going on people’s mind was constantly tracked and where needed psychological help provided
7.      Employee outreach centers were opened where all help, food, water, sanitation, first aid and counseling was provided. 1600 employees were covered by this facility
8.      Every employee was assigned to one mentor and it was that person’s responsibility to act as a “single window” clearance for any help that the person required
9.      Ratan Tata personally visited the families of all the 80 employees who in some manner – either through injury or getting killed – were affected.
10.     The dependents of the employees were flown from outside Mumbai to Mumbai and taken care off in terms of ensuring mental assurance and peace. They were all accommodated in Hotel President for 3 weeks
11.     Ratan Tata himself asked the families and dependents – as to what they wanted him to do.
12.     In a record time of 20 days, a new trust was created by the Tatas for the purpose of relief of employees.
13.     What is unique is that even the other people, the railway employees, the police staff, the pedestrians who had nothing to do with Tatas were covered by compensation. Each one of them was provided subsistence allowance of Rs. 10K per month for all these people for 6 months.
14.     A 4 year old granddaughter of a vendor got 4 bullets in her and only one was removed in the Government hospital. She was taken to Bombay hospital and several lacs were spent by the Tatas on her to fully recover her
15.     New hand carts were provided to several vendors who lost their carts
16.     Tata will take responsibility of life education of 46 children of the victims of the terror
17.     This was the most trying period in the life of the organisation. Senior managers including Ratan Tata were visiting funeral to funeral over the 3 days that were most horrible
18.     The settlement for every deceased member ranged from Rs. 36 to 85 lacs in addition to the following benefits:
a.      Full last salary for life for the family and dependents
b.      Complete responsibility of education of children and dependents – anywhere in the world
c.      Full Medical facility for the whole family and dependents for rest of their life
d.      All loans and advances were waived off – irrespective of the amount
e.      Counselor for life for each person

D.      Epilogue

1.      How was such passion created among the employees? How and why did they behave the way they did?
2.      The organisation is clear that it is not something that someone can take credit for. It is not some training and development that created such behaviour. If someone suggests that – everyone laughs
3.      It has to do with the DNA of the organisation, with the way Tata culture exists and above all with the situation that prevailed thattime. The organisation has always been telling that customers and
guests are #1 priority
4.      The hotel business was started by Jamshedji Tata when he was insulted in one of the British hotels and not allowed to stay there.
5.      He created several institutions which later became icons of progress, culture and modernity. IISc is one such institute. He was told by the rulers that time that he can acquire land for IISc to the
extent he could fence the same. He could afford fencing only 400 acres.
6.      When the HR function hesitatingly made a very rich proposal to Ratan – he said – do you think we are doing enough?
7.      The whole approach was that the organisation would spend several hundred crore in re-building the property – why not spend equally on the employees who gave their life?

Delhi, 22 November 2009: TATA DOCOMO, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, today announced the extension of its industry-changing ‘Pay-for-exactly-what-you-use’ pricing paradigm to roaming services as well, introducing per-second billing for all calls made or received while ‘roaming’ across the country, at its existing tariff of 1 paisa per second—for both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers. The move is set to redefine the very concept of making calls while ‘roaming’ in India, much as TATA DOCOMO’s per-second billing offer did for local and long-distance calls a few months earlier, when the company launched commercial operations.
From Monday, while roaming, subscribers can make calls across India at 1 paisa per second, across all 15 Circles where TATA DOCOMO has launched GSM services, regardless of which network or type of phone the call is made to. Furthermore, incoming calls while roaming will also be charged on a per-second basis, at 1 paisa per second. With TATA DOCOMO set to launch its GSM services pan-India this year, this game-changing roaming option will be available across the country.

Idea Net Setter The data card comes at the cost of Rs.2000 and the speed which comes out to be 128 KBps. Seems to be economical but speed does not come out to be good.  Plus the network seems to be another problem. Tariff plan is as under:

Airtel The data card comes at the cost of Rs.3490and the speed which comes out to be 256KBps. Seems to be ok but speed does not come out to be good.  Network is ok but speed is a big constraint . Tariff plan is as under:

Tata photon+  SPeed is the key. It comes at the cost of Rs.3600. SPeed is good and you can get upto 1 MBps. Though they claim to be 3 MBps.

A było to tak…
… Było w sumie 250 osób, nikt nie powinien kurna narzekać :D:D

Przewidywałem osobiście frekwencję koło 150 osób, o 200 skrycie myślał zaś każdy aktywny uczestnik imprezki. Jak się dowiedział ja pokątnie, sama Progresja myślała, że to jakieś 50 osób przyciągnie. Z trojga opcji klub mylił się już na dzieńdobry bardzo srogo, ale trzymali się tej opcji dość długo [vide kąśliwa uwagi Pań za barem o zbyt dużej ilości opasek na backstage oraz Pana od biletów, że za dużo gości za free wchodzi]. Ja za to panikowałem jak ciota przez pierwsze dwie godzinki imprezy, co wynikało ze standardowego nieposzanowania przez publikę godziny rozpoczęcia imprezy Luna miała wejść o 19 z co najmniej setką osób pod sceną, a tu dupa, o 19 klub świecił pustkami jeszcze. W konsekwencji impreza zaczęła się jakieś minutki przed ósmą, kiedy mieliśmy już pokaźną publiczność. Chłopaki zagrali elegancko, nagłośnienie kulało ciut, ale czuło się, że muzyka mądra, za co standardowo szacuj. Po 40 minutach zeszli ze sceny i dali miejsce Satellite Beaverom, którzy rozjebali nie tylko muzyką, ale i prezencją sceniczną. Kur*a, słowo daję, nie wiem co Mad ma na klacie ale pokazywał to z dumą Szymon z koncertu na koncert kostiumy ma coraz zacniejsze, to co pokazał w progresji to już w ogóle, kochani moi – szaleństwo bez trzymanki. Wyglądał jak autentyczny kapłan stoner ceremonii
Jedna lipa, że Doman odszedł z kapeli po tym gigu z powodów niemuzycznych ani nie-między-personalnych. Żal dupę ściska, ale cóż poradzić. Dobrze, że udało im się jeszcze zagrać w progresji.

Potem my, to co ja tam będę pisał. Vagina to my w sensie. Sagan zrobiony wyszedł z puzonem i show się potoczyło. Zagrali nowy numer, przerobionego Hellbounda, ludzie się całkiem bawili i było zacnie. Perkusji prawie w ogóle nie słyszałem, Marian nie słyszał samego siebie, ale poza tym poszło. Ludziska mówili, że to nasz najlepiej nagłośniony koncert, no to niech tak będzie. Mimo, że sam akustyk personalnie zdaje się nikomu nie podszedł ;]

Zagraliśmy i się okazało że obsuwa zwiększyła się drastycznie. Broken Betty weszli spokojnie o 23, a wcześniej zaszalały w okrojonym składzie Lucyferki Przyznam się, że widziałem tylko pierwsze wejście, bo zdruzgotany ogromem wrażeń dogorywałem na bekstejdżu, niemniej dziewczęta wytargały na scenę Batona i Annę Wiedźmę Plugawą i się tam łanie bawiły. Gut.

Marian mówi, że Broken Betty elegancko zagrali, ja nie wiem, bo na tyłach słyszałęm tylko dwóch gości grających na moim fenderku i basie Chrisa z Luna Negry różne pieśni. W ogóle mimo, że z nimi nie pogadałem za bardzo, śmiem uważać ich za sympatycznych Zgrzewka specjali jako prezent zrobiła swoje po prostu

Fifty Foot Woman skończyli już parę minut po pierwszej, ciężko. Za dużo kapel po prostu było, ale z ręką na sercu mówię, że ze składu nie dało się wywalić kogokolwiek – wszyscy mądzi ;]
Zwinęliśmy się do drugiej, poganiani jak w starożytnym Egipcie niewolnicy i przez mgłę doczłapaliśmy się do domów.

Wrażenia? Dowidzenia, warto było to zrobić. Mam nadzieję, że tą wiadomością skłonię parę osób do głębszych zwierzeń na temat swoich wrażeń z imprezki. Następna już w przyszłym roku, i jeśli tylko chłopaki od waty cukrowej zgodzą się, to zadbam żeby stoisko było bardziej widocznie!

PS. Ja to waty nie lubię, ale jak spróbowałem poziomkowej to o kilka stopni zmieniłem pogląd na sprawę
PPS. Zgubiłem jednego straplocka, ale ch**, nieważne, czasem trzeba coś poświęcić dla większego dobra

Indian Railways

The naxalites in India who claim to be voice of poor and oppose administrative “oppression” have shown their real colors once again. At least three passengers were killed and over 47 others injured when eight bogies of the 321 Tata-Bilaspur passenger train derailed after the Maoists terrorists blew up railway tracks on Thursday night at around 9:15PM local time, in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. The blast comes ahead of a 24-hours statewide strike called by militants to oppose the assembly election in the state.

Three of the bogies, apparently ferrying central armed forces, were badly damaged. The Maoists appeared to have booby-trapped tracks elsewhere too, in a bid to delay the arrival of reinforcements. West Singhbhum district Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh Kumar Jha and other officials who were travelling by a special train to the site, were forced to halt after a blast near another station at 11pm.

Train movement on the busy Howrah-Mumbai route has been affected. Authorities expect the trains bound for western India from Howrah (Kolkata) could be either re-routed or delayed on Friday.

Jharkhand is one of the worst-hit states by naxal terror. Recently the naxalites had beheaded an intelligence officer. Blowing up train tracks, stations and schools is nothing new for these criminals who have been indulging in other activities like collecting “levy” or ransom to fund their operations from small businessmen in the terror zone.

A relief train has reached from Rourkela.

La Tata il colosso indiano che spazia dalle auto all’acciaio alle assicurazioni, ha cominciato la ricerca del successore del presidente Ratan Tata, 71 anni. Lo riferisce lo stesso presidente, che siede anche nel consiglio di amministrazione di Fiat, in una intervista rilasciata al Wall Street Journal e rilanciata dalla stampa indiana. Ratan Tata non ha figli e ha annunciato che il processo di selezione per il suo successore non solo tiene conto di candidati interni all’azienda, ma anche esterni. “Abbiamo – ha detto al giornale economico il presidente della Tata – diversi consulenti che stanno portando avanti il processo di ricerca. Stiamo cercando dovunque. Il successore, comunque, dovrà avere integrità e padronanza dei nostri valori, impegnandosi per la crescita del gruppo”. Ratan Tata guida un gruppo fondato dal suo bisnonno Jamshedji Tata, nel 1868. Da allora, il gruppo Tata è sempre stato guidato da un membro della famiglia. L’ultimo, Ratan Tata, lo guida dal 1991. Tra le 27 aziende del gruppo di Mumbai, la Tata Motor, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services e Tata Power. Io un anno e mezzo fa ho incontrato Ratan Tata ad una cena. Molto simpatico. Fra uno scherzo ed un altro mi sono anche proposto come successore. Anzi: gli proposi di adottarmi. Gli dissi che mio padre era d’accordo, bastava passargli un mensile. Ma lui non ha accettato. Peccato. Per lui.
