The Lake District - Lake Windermere

Eventually we arrived at the lake where we walked around and enjoyed the view. Being here before, I was aware that there were boat tours on the lake that took you to different areas, or you could opt for just a round-trip scenic ride. We decided to buy tickets for a boat ride that would take us to Ambleside.

The trip was 70 minutes in total around the lake. We boarded the boat and started our journey. The landscape was incredible. It stared rolling hills carved out by the last ice age. The houses tucked away in the hills were breathtaking. Some were so picturesque, weddings were taking place outside. There was also a castle along the way that was built originally for a doctor, however, Beatrix Potter vacationed in it as well.

We were going to get off the boat and explore Ambleside, as I had never been. However, we ran out of time and had to head back to make our train home. We stayed on the boat and went back to where we started. Once we docked we made the hour walk back to the train station, ready to go home.

The Lake District is a place that shouldn’t be missed when visiting the North West of England. It is a place that I hope to return to in order to explore it more.
