Prior to that, she was a litigation partner at Latham & Watkins, as well as an assistant U.S. attorney in D.C.This is not Ruemmler’s first tour of duty at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. She also served in the White House counsel’s office under President Bill Clinton, a busy time for White House lawyers. In addition to her legal skills, Kathy Ruemmler has a sparkling personality. As a former Latham colleague told ATL when she left for the DOJ, “She’s a really good lawyer, and a genuinely nice person. We’re very sorry to lose her.

In addition, Gorelick said, Ruemmler is someone who “can be forceful when she needs to.” Indeed, Ruemmler made a lasting impression with her closing remarks in the Enron trial: “Those … were … flat … lies!”

She also coordinated the response to the 2009 H1N1 flu virus.
Arne Duncan is the ninth U.S. secretary of education. He helped to secure congressional support for President Obama’s investments in education, including the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s $100 billion to fund 325,000 teaching jobs, increases in Pell grants, reform efforts such as Race to the Top and Investing in Innovation, and interventions in low-performing schools. Additionally, he has helped secure an additional $10 billion to avoid teacher layoffs; the elimination of student loan subsidies to banks; and a $500 million national competition for early learning programs.

In his confirmation hearings, Duncan called education “the most pressing issue facing America,” adding that “preparing young people for success in life is not just a moral obligation of society” but also an “economic imperative.” “Education is also the civil rights issue of our generation,” he said, “the only sure path out of poverty and the only way to achieve a more equal and just society.” Duncan expressed his commitment to work under the leadership of President Obama and with all those involved in education “to enhance education in America, to lift our children and families out of poverty, to help our students learn to contribute to the civility of our great American democracy, and to strengthen our economy by producing a workforce that can make us as competitive as possible.”

Gilchrist is still yet to be assigned to one of the franchises

Former Australia wicketkeeper batsman Adam Gilchrist has become the second international player to sign up for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after his long-time teammate Ricky Ponting.

The CPL is set to get underway on July 29 and will end on August 26.

The tournament will include six franchise nations from across the Caribbean, including Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago.

Each franchise will be allocated one local iconic cricketer, along with an international one as well.

Both Gilchrist and Ponting have still not been assigned to any team.

Gilchrst, who announced his retirement from international cricket in 2008, stated that he was raring at the opportunity to play in the inaugural edition of the newly formed league.

“The CPL will feature some of the world’s best cricketers, and I can’t wait to test my skills and play in what is going to be a dynamic and exciting competition,” he said. “I have fond memories of playing cricket in the Caribbean. Plus, I love playing the Twenty20 format, and there is absolutely no better place anywhere to do this than the West Indies.”

I have not posted in some time. I’ve been slaving away working on my website. Holy cow no wo

I have not posted in some time. I’ve been slaving away working on my website. Holy cow no wonder copy writers make good money! I can’t wait to pay someone to do all that for me.

Working on a small business while trying to write takes up a lot of time. For those of you who don’t know I make my living doing Energy Healing work, teaching metaphysical classes and doing Readings. I love it. I really enjoy all of it (well the readings aren’t my favorite because I find people get really dependent on their psychics and don’t do a darn thing without the OK of the Ethernet. Ridiculous, you have to live your life. Anyway, that is another blog entry)

But a lot of times I am working on work so I can pay my bills and all the ideas I want to write about take up space and I’m bouncing between the two. I have yet to come up with a system that works for me.

Well, on Thursday I was asked by a friend to play softball on his co-ed team. He knew I had played in my youth. Last time I played was 20 years ago and I quit because I took a ball to the nose and thus developed a fear of the ball.

Surprisingly I wasn’t that nervous. I grounded myself and prayed and decided to just have fun. Guess what? I had a blast! It was a fantastic afternoon.

Today I can barely move. I am going to force myself to get out and walk and I’m going to stretch. I hadn’t moved my body like that in years so I can’t expect to walk away without pain.

So this whole experience was SUPER mind and heart opening. I still have a little bit of fear of the ball, but I put myself out there and did my best. No broken nose and I doubt that will ever happen again. I got out of my fear and had fun! I can’t begin to explain how much fun it was and the opposing team weren’t assholes!

And that is what blogging and writing can be. I don’t need to be afraid that if I post my stories and ideas here someone is going to steel them. I do have a copyright posted. You know what happens to ideas if you don’t do them right? They go back into the control of the muses and someone else develops the idea. Its true. I bet everyone reading this has a story or television show idea that was “stolen” from them. I’m sure true theft occurs, but most of the time its just the Ethernet (the collective conscious pool of creation and communication we are all tapped into) and the idea is there for anyone to grab.

Grab it! Take it and write it and heck do a Kickstarter with it. Have you not noticed how easy it is to get published? If you think that statement is crazy wrong then I urge you to change your perspective. It is easy. New Authors are published every day! Its not like we wait ten years for a newbie to come into the world. They are all over the place! I am going to be one of them, and so are you.

Let go of fear. It is your idea and no one can do it better than you.

Now, here is my idea:

Apoc-Anon. Apocalypse Support Group. The characters are in development and I have a friend helping write. Support groups meet weekly, usually, and my goal is to post a new bit each week. Maybe on Wednesdays. This will also be my first attempt at humor. I have to say in my head its hilarious! My husband and sister find it funny, too. Hopefully others will as well. Eventually I want guest authors to assist so stay tuned and watch for the invite!

The way I see it is this blogging thing is like a team. We play together, support each other follow the rules of the game. And above all we do it because we love it and have fun. So, lets stay ethical about it, always respecting another’s creation and celebrating in his/her success. And lets not be afraid to write what is on our hearts and share what we are craving to share.

Don’t feed fear.

Today I created a table with a running order for our 1 hour show. The first table includes times etc

Today I created a table with a running order for our 1 hour show. The first table includes times etc for a Live Guest. Calculating the times of everybody’s documentary, intro’s & outro’s etc took a while and I had to work with the rest of my group to find out their timings etc. I then added them all together to see if it totaled to 1 hour. The first time I added everything together, we ran over the 1 hour, I then had to ask the rest of my group what we could do to bring our total time back down to under an hour. We decided on dropping 2 song’s from my package and PJ’s package. This put us back on schedule and just under the 1 hr slot (59:05). This leaves us 55 seconds short, however I believe that during 1 hour show, small mistakes/glitches may occur therefore I have left us 55 seconds as a ‘back-up’. I also double checked my timings in Synergy as it has a Scheduler where you can add the documentaries and live mic sessions.

Sadly our live guest cannot make the one hour show and has just told Robbie via text today (day for the 1 hr show). Instead, I came up with the idea to replace the interview with another package. My group decided on choosing another package from the other group in the class – YouTube as this fits in with our umbrella (Arts & Entertainment). The second table is the correct running order which shows times of all our documentaries (without a live guest, but another documentary)

Here is the running order which I have created for the 1hour show (tomorrow). I have talked with my team mates and asked them if it was okay and to double check my work. Sadly 1 part of the running order is missing because Robbie still hasn’t finished their packages yet (Intro’s and Outros), with less than 24 hours until the hour show. This has also delayed a practice run of our 1 hour show which was scheduled for today but we cannot go ahead with it because he is missing a package and intro’s and outro’s. We have discussed his progress as a group and he is certain he will have his package all complete by tomorrow morning. If not, I am prepared to use another package from the other group to fill his slot but hopefully this won’t happen as we want everybody in our group to pass the Graded Unit.

Everybody in my team message me in our Facebook Group with their intro’s and outro’s which I found very useful. The facebook group which we created has become a great way of communicating with eachother (when at home and at college). This is because we’ve been able to share the Minutes on their and discuss each others progress.I have edited all our scripts into one file (below) which we will use on the day of the 1 hour show. I asked everybody in my team to create a 30 sec into and 30 sec outro, so that our timings match. Myself and Julie both agreed to print 3 copy’s: 1 for the Producer, 2 for the presenter’s. This will mean everybody who is ‘on-air’ will have a copy of everybody’s script.

Show Jingle

Welcome to the A&E show on BBC Radio 1. Today we have a variety of documentary’s including how new bands get on radio, the rise of Female DJs, Street Art, the appeal of Festivals, the History of Dubstep and All about Vlogging on YouTube. You can get involved with the show by tweeting us @bbcr1 or if you’re on Facebook you can write on our page. We’ll be taking your questions throughout the show so feel free to get in touch.

Let’s start with new music. There are several new bands out there trying to get airplay on radio stations, however online research suggests that many online blogs are steering new bands away from radio airplay. We’ve spoken to Scotland’s new music radio presenters to see if this is the case. So, does radio still play a part in making a band become known?

Does Radio still play a part?

“BBC Radio 1, 90%..”

“.. Band become known. BBC Radio 1”

Thanks for that Aydan. Up next is a documentary on the rise of female DJ’s and the difficulties they seem to face within the music industry. The majority of DJ’s within the industry are male with females being quite under the radar on the decks. We wanted to investigate why that was. However, now in recent times the girls are starting to come through with their talents and DJ-ing skills. With a special track from twin sisters NERVO, who write, make and produce music as well as our documentary, we’ll give you an insight into the world of female DJ’s.

Female DJs

“You’re in a club..”

“.. Who runs the world, girls?”

NERVO – REASON **SONG**

That was our insight into the world of female DJ’s: how their looks can play a part in their success, how they can often be discriminated and the part of sexism within the industry. However new, fresh magazines like TLG are playing their part in promoting women in the DJ-ing world and with Cladia Cazacu being the number one female DJ and NERVO being number 46 in DJ Mag’s Top 100, it looks like the girls are certainly making their mark. So next time you’re in a club, festival or see the charts, look out for the girl behind the decks and the maker of the music.

Cheers Julie, next up we’re going to look at the stigma behind graffiti and how it would be possible to tackle this or if we should even attempt to tackle it. We also take a deeper look into if graffiti is really art or if it more on the side of vandalism. We speak to Kism, a graffiti artist from Glasgow. Clare Gray, museum curator for Glasgow museums and galleries as well as Jenny McCalloy , an art enthusiast who works at Greyfriars art store in Edinburgh.

Street Art

“EDIT .”

“.. EDIT”

That documentary was produced by myself, Daniel Rough, and presented by Robbie Funston. Hopefully it has opened the eyes of some people to an art that expresses the opinions of undermined social classes and groups or maybe it has enforced the opinion that graffiti is a vandalism disguised as a harmless form of self-expression and art. Next up we have Festivals.

ROBBIE INTRO

Festivals

“EDIT ..”

“..EDIT “

ROBBIE OUTRO

NEXT UP WE’LL BE LISTENING TO A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF DUBSTEP. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF CRITICISM ABOUT THE GENRE THESE DAYS SINCE ITS BLOWN UP IN THE COMMERCIAL WORLD. I MEAN EVERYONE FROM COCA COLA TO BRITNEY SPEARS IS USING IT. AND THE ORIGINAL CREATORS SO TO SAY, FEEL LIKE THEIR MUSIC HAS BEEN STOLEN FROM THEM. WELL I SPOKE TO A FEW GUYS IN THE SCENE ABOUT HOW THEY FELT ABOUT THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF THE SCENE, PUT THIS VERY COOL PACKAGE TOGETHER AND YEA THIS IS WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY

Dubstep

“A lot of the time it’s..”

“..The airplay they deserve”

YOU WERE LISTENING TO A CHINK N WIG PRODUCTION THERE, ABOUT THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF DUBSTEP. SO DO YOU THINK THE MUSIC HAS BEEN OVER COMMERCIALIZED? DO YOU THINK ITS GOING TO GO BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL ROOTS LIKE PUNK AND SO MANY OTHER GENRES DID. GET US ON TWITTER @BBR1. LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. YEA JUST GOT A TWEET IN ABOUT THE FESTIVAL DOCUMENTARY YOU HEARD . MARK JONES FROM LONDON REALLY LIKED IT.. HE SAYS HE LOVES GOING TO FESTIVAL, ATTENDS DOWNLOAD EVERY YEAR, BUT DOES THINK THEYRE ABIT OVER PRICED. CHEERS MARK THANKS FOR YOUR MESSAGE.

“Dubstep, when you think of it..”

“..Your heart’s not in it..”

The Internet is now a place where we can, research, connect with others and be entertained. One of these forms of entertainments is the company YouTube. With over 4 billion video’s being viewed every day, YouTube is one of the highest trafficked websites online. With the average person spending between 15 to 25 minutes a day on the site. As part of our now, every day life’s, there is more opportunity online to express our talents to the world. So how do people use the site to maximize on self-promotion and actually make a career out of it? We sent out reporter, Julie Williams to find out about this Internet phenomenon.

YouTube

That was our reporter Julie Williams with a package all about vlogging. So hopefully, one day soon, there will be an Internet buzz all about the UK on Youtube. Are you the next big thing? Can you start the buzz? We hope so as we feel the future of entertainment is to be found online. Our Arts & Entertainment show this week has been jam packed full of interesting subjects, the rise of female DJ’s and commercialization of dubstep, representing the music side. Festival season is coming up, and our package on the appeal of festivals kept us on track for the upcoming music madness. If you’re heading to one this year let us know on Twitter @bbcr1. Danny’s package on graffiti gave a great insight into the debate of is it art or vandalism. Our final package on vlogging on YouTube was great in showing the rise of the internet and how people use vlogging to vent.

That’s the end of our A & E show for this week. Tune in next week for another show packed with info, music and relatable topics. Keep in touch with us over Twitter @bbcr1

Writers are introverts by nature; they derive their energy from within. And when you think of how so

Writers are introverts by nature; they derive their energy from within. And when you think of how solitary the pursuit of writing is, it all makes sense. In order to thrive in the writing lifestyle, a healthy dose of introversion is necessary.

That’s why, to many of us, self-publishing seems like such an appealing option to get our work out there. You may think, “What? Expose the world to my unadulterated story without the influence of agents, editors, and other gatekeepers of the traditional publishing industry? Sign me up!” With the advent of user-friendly self-publishing platforms like KDP, self-publishing seems like something you can do all by yourself. And for a natural introvert, that’s money!

Really, however, writers must have a team behind them to succeed in self-publishing. Some have gone it alone, but it’s a rare author who’s also proficient at social media, book cover design, marketing, copy-editing, running ad campaigns, and designing websites. The most successful self-published authors, a la Joanna Penn, hire experts to help them throughout the publishing process. By using the expertise of others, the writers’ strengths can shine even more.

Since self-publishing my first short story, “A First Time for Everything,” I have learned a lot about team-building for indie authors. Here are five team members that self-published authors should have, and why they’re so necessary.

Self-published authors are most successful when they have a solid team around them.

Five Crucial Members of the Self-Publishing Team:

Editor: A copy-editor checks for grammar, punctuation, and typos that the author may miss even after rounds of revisions. Other editors go more in depth, combing the manuscript for plot flaws and consistency.

Book Cover Designer: Unless you’re also a graphic designer, putting together your own book cover is not recommended. People really do judge a book by its cover, so why not have yours look as professional as possible? Searching for an eye-catching book cover on a budget? Check out Tugboat Design http://www.tugboatdesign.net/ They have loads of pre-made covers that they can customize for your book. Each pre-made design is sold only once, so no one will have the same cover as you.

Website Designer: If you’re anything like me, you’re passable at technological things, nothing more, nothing less. But to catch the attention of your readers, you have to create a dazzling website! So hiring a company to put one together is money well-spent. A company called Tiny Frog is in the process of completing my website. Check them out at http://www.tinyfrog.com/ They also specialize in search engine optimization (SEO), to make authors more discoverable to readers doing online searches.

Marketing Firm: Marketing companies help authors to create their “brands” to reach their target audiences. They conduct market research to find out the likes and dislikes of the target audience, and they help authors to run ad campaigns. However, marketing firms are very expensive. A cheaper solution is to employ a company to design your author logo, which can be used on your website and business cards. Mine was designed by Tiny Frog. Then, you can advertise on Facebook using your logo; Facebook already knows people’s likes and dislikes, so it’s a great way to reach your audience. I just kicked off my ad campaign on Facebook, and it’s already brought many new visitors to my author page.

Supportive Friend and / or Family Member: I saved the best for last. In order to succeed as an indie author, you have to be 100% in. Sometimes, you may seem mildly obsessed. That’s why it’s so important to have at least one friend and / or family member who’s as obsessed with your writing career as you are. For me, that person has been Antonio, my fiance. We make an ideal team: I’m the artistic, passionate writer, and he’s the marketing and technological expert. While I’m honing my craft as an author, he’s researching SEO and Facebook ad campaigns. We learn from each other, and it works out famously.

So to all you self-published authors out there, build a team, and you’ll go far!

Since it is the end of the season, I thought I would make my team of the season. So, here we go

Since it is the end of the season, I thought I would make my team of the season. So, here we go…

Goalkeeper – This is a difficult one because no keeper really stood out for the entirety of the season. It would be easy to just pick the United keeper (who played 28 times this season) as that’s what people tend to do when they don’t want to really think about it but I won’t do that. I’m going to pick Petr Cech as I believe he has been the most consistent keeper all season and instead of picking a player because he wasn’t as poor as he was last season.

Right Back – Easy. Zabaleta. The next best option was probably Rafael so you can see the difference there making it such an easy decision.

Left Back – See above except replace ‘Zabaleta’ with ‘Baines’ and ‘Rafael’ with ‘Evra’.

Centre Backs – Vertonghen and Jagielka. Vertonghen has had a very good first season playing for a top 4 challenging side and Jagielka has been solid and consistent helping Everton concede the least amount of goals this season bar Man City.

Centre Mid – Gerrard. Playing a bit deeper than he has in the past few years he has shown how class he is. A combined 19 goals and assists from that position as well as barely missing any games through out the entire season has been very impressive considering the past 2 or 3 injury plagued seasons. The way I see it it is either Gerrard or Carrick and Gerrard does everything Carrick does better and then gets goals and assists. I support Tranmere so this is definitely not biased in any way shape or form.

Centre Mid – Santi Cazorla. Without him I don’t think Arsenal would have finished top 4. Their best player by quite a bit. 20 goals and assists combined this season for him. Almost anything creative that happened at Arsenal this season involved him in some way.

Left Mid – Bale. This is probably the easiest position to pick considering how well he played and the limited competition for this position.

Right Mid – Mata. This is weird because of the players I want to put in the team someone had to play out of position slightly. It happened to be Mata. The best player for Chelsea this season and everything you could say about Cazorla could probably be said about Mata and then some.

Strikers – Van Persie and Suarez. Obviously it was going to be these two with a combined 63 goals and assists between them pretty much carrying their teams most the season. They are probably two of the best three strikers in the world right now so it was pretty easy.

Mexicans often feel that billionaire Carlos Slim owns everything in their country, from telephone and Internet companies to banks and chain stores, but his latest acquisitive foray is meeting resistance after touching a national passion: soccer. Slim recently bought part of two of Mexico’s first division soccer teams, setting up another showdown with television giants Televisa and TV Azteca, major players in the soccer field that are in turn trying to push their way into Slim’s telecommunications and Internet markets.

The owners of the 18 Mexican first division clubs are scheduled to meet Monday to decide whether one person or one company can own more than one first-division soccer team, and many see Slim as the target. Each team has one vote in decisions by the Mexican Football Federation, so purchasing more teams would give Slim more power in the federation. Recently, there have been rumors in sporting circles and on social networks that Slim also plans to buy or acquire the broadcast rights for Chivas, one of Mexico’s two most popular teams, along with Televisa’s America. The billionaire’s spokesmen have denied that.

Is it still relevant? Are you innovating and changing, or are you in maintenance mode living off the

Is it still relevant?

Are you innovating and changing, or are you in maintenance mode living off the high from yesteryear? Does it excite new people to be involved?

If a ministry is not meeting a real felt need in your community then it is redirecting resources away from other needs. Just because “it’s what we have always done” is never a good enough reason to continue to do something.

What is the mission?

What is your purpose? Is it still needed?

Ministries are developed to meet needs, it’s what they do. If there is no clear purpose or mission there may be no purpose to keep it around.

Are you the best?

Why compete with other ministries, especially when others do it better? Are you great or just good?

Often times churches are viewed by non-profits and other church as competitors, rather than potential partners. It’s time to change that. It often starts with knowing what others are doing in your community and figuring out how you can support them. Remember, true community service is about serving your community, not getting you name known.

Is there new blood?

People are your greatest resource, they need to feel like they have a place and are welcome to join.

The greatest notifier to a healthy ministry is buy in from new people. Do they get what is trying to be accomplished? Do they see value in it? Do they choose to sacrifice their personal time to be a part of it?

There better be a way to get new people involved. A ministry can never be an exclusive club.

Is the team united?

Do they all believe that they are making an impact?

Like I said in a recent post, “Leaders Deal in 7 Things,” buy in starts with those closest to you. If your team doesn’t believe that they are really meeting a need then it will die. People unite very well around a cause. Make your purpose clear and allow the team to rally around it.

What other questions can we ask ourselves to review the current ministries we are a part of?

Brilliant Manoeuvre
A key role for every leader is mentoring and coaching his or her subordinates so they develop to their full potential.

Discussion
One of my clients is a long-time entrepreneur. He knows how to sell and promote his business; he’s not afraid to experiment and try new things; he’s approachable and helpful; and he provides inspiration and leadership to everyone in his company. However, I’ve been getting him to develop his own leadership capabilities so he recognizes that he has a major role in developing the leadership and managerial capabilities of his direct reports. For instance, we recently discussed how to work on developing better industry understanding in a relatively new executive. My client brought in this individual because of his extensive management experience in larger companies. However, he needs to develop certain other skills and knowledge so that he can be the most effective leader possible within the organization. It’s not enough to assume that newly hired employees already know everything they need to function within the company. They too must be developed through coaching and mentoring. This can be done with outside coaches, but executives, managers, and supervisors must also play a critical part in this process.

Tip
Do you know every one of your team members by name? Do you know their backgrounds? Where they are from, their goals and aspirations, their particular strengths and limitations? If you can’t answer these most basic questions about your people then you don’t really know them well enough to develop them to their full potential.

Tomorrow is our 1 hour live show, which myself and my group are feeling very nervous for. We discussed at last weeks meetings that everybody in our group should have their package edited and completed for today (Monday). This was because we wanted to practice in the studio today and work out scripts and timings. However, myself and Julie have turned up to class and are disappointed to see Robbie, PJ and Danny have not finished their packages yet but will be “finished by today”. This is really not acceptable and myself and Julie who are in charge of timings cannot work out without the total package timings or scripts. This has left us very confused and lost as we cannot do any work until everybody in our group completes their packages.

I have talked to the 3 members who haven’t completed their packages and told them if it is not finished by the end of today’s class, we are dropping them from the hour show and using another group’s packages. This decision was made between myself and Julie as we do not want to fail the hour show tomorrow and we really need to start working out timings. We are falling very behind now because our group members haven’t met the deadline.

I am proud of everyone who made it to competition this weekend. While the choices made were not always the best, we succeeded by having a team effort in the clutches of a sick dancer, an injured dancer, and two absent dancers. Sometimes life isn’t perfect and sometimes you have to find the sweet moments.

Thank you C for showing kindness and unselfishness. Thank you O and L for just jamming with me backstage. You had those young staff members in hysterics with your antics. Thank you E for carrying the bed with me, offering food, and support. Thank you Mary for holding me in a private moment when the pressure was too much and the load too heavy. Thank you Tricia for the coffee, Jodie for the wine, and Colleen for the hand on my shoulder. Most of all, thank you N. It’s the way we talk, look at each other, and our depth of love that keeps me afloat sometimes. As I held in you in my lap, I loved hearing your breathing change and your little heartbeat as you drifted off to a short nap. Your body twitched like Taylor’s and Mr. Robert’s. It was as close to heaven as I could get on a competition weekend. Better than a cupcake or a glass of wine. Better even than coffee. I know. High praise for me. You made me feel loved. I needed that moment more than you did. “This is what it means to be Held”… I know we both love that song!

If there is one thing I could teach the group, I’d love for it to be team focused. Give more of yourself to the team. Prepare better, be on time, be ready, have your costume pieces, and know your dances. In life, there are a lot of selfish people. I know they succeed. I have seen them. They are a lot less fun to be around. I am trying to show you by example, but I feel it isn’t sinking in. By giving more of yourself, you will be better for it.

Competition season is over for many of you. On to Nutcracker auditions, next year team auditions, and the beloved Spring recital. Remember to take the lessons you learned with you. Remember your behavior impacts others. Remember how much you appreciate C for her unselfishness and strive to be more like that with your behavior. Remember how E is always there when you need her and be like that for someone else. Lessons always outweigh the trophies. This is why I don’t keep them. There are no trophies for life. Only salvation in heaven and you cannot win that. It was freely given by the death of our Savior.

Dear Dancers….be good people. Leave people with a feeling of security, love, and hopefulness. These are the things that continue to shine past a weekend. Enjoy your day!

Ganguly expects Australia’s tough times to continue

Even after all the media attention India received after whitewashing Australia 4-0 during their recent home series, it seems the Australians are still susceptible to ridicule as former India captain Sourav Ganguly branded Michael Clarke’s side as the worst Australian team to have ever toured India.

Ganguly was shocked at India’s 4-0 victory and Australia’s lack of fighting spirit, which they are typically known for, throughout the series.

“They don’t have the batsmen to play spinners and spinners to take wickets here,” Ganguly said. “I don’t want to rate the side but having seen the Aussies since 1996, I think this team is the worst-performing on Indian soil.”

Ganguly was also disappointed at Australia’s team management for axing Shane Watson, James Pattinson, Usman Khawaja and Mitchell Johnson midway through the series after they failed to complete an assignment set by coach Mickey Arthur.

“No matter how disciplined you are, skill is the most important to be successful,” Ganguly said. “Australia lack skill on this tour.

“I read somewhere about (former coach) John Buchanan lauding the decision (to sack the four). Just unbelievable, what can I say!”

The former Indian captain also expects Australia to have an equally tough time facing England during the back-to-back Ashes series, which gets underway in July.

“They (England) have been doing well,” Ganguly added. “I won’t be surprised England win 3-0 in the five-match series.”

This weekend I was offered an opportunity to assist with Intel’s marketing campaign for their new Ultrabook! As a marketing major, I could not turn this opportunity down because it gave me some much needed promotion experience. The event was held at Gansevoort Plaza, which is located in the Meatpacking District on Ninth Avenue and Gansevoort Avenue in NYC. The event was held on May 17-19, but I was only required to work on the 18th and 19th. Although the weather was not cooperative, the event still opened up at 10 AM on both days and Intel still had their installations, guest speakers, performances and Ultrabook giveaways, that they promised. One of their guest speakers was this season’s Project Runway winner, Michelle Lesniak Franklin, who spoke about how technology aids with her designs. The event was an overall success even though it rained both days. Personally, this event was a success for me because I spoke and promoted the event to many people, gave out the necessary information and got them to test out the Ultrabook. Someone I sent to the event was even the recipient of one of the four Ultrabook’s that were being given away! This was definitely a new and exciting experience and I am happy that I was able to be a part of it. Thank you Intel!

Every step we took we left a dirt trail behind. We walk through the grand main hallway, to the elevator, up 19 levels, and into the meeting room. We are the last team to come in.

“Well, lookie it here, Team 3 finally decide to show up,” Peter announces, from team 4, to the rest of the team leaders.

“Tracking all this dust.” Vince exaggerates by fanning his arm.

“Had no time to change. You know our team is dispatched again.”

“So are we.” Roger says from team 6.

“You are in Zone 3, I am in Zone 11.” Linz says

Linz sat in her chair while I stood behind her.

“You must be Elliot.” Frank said has he takes his reading glasses off.

“Yes and you are?”

“Frank, team 2”

“The old man in the group.” Vince said.

“Hey I am only 33, kid.” Frank lifts his fist up pretending to punch Vince on the head.

“So how do you like it here, working with Linz, Dust Devil Division?” Roger asks from team 6.

“Good, good pay, good people, ya I like it so far.”

“You don’t sound so certain, come on you can tell us. Does Linz overwork you? You are welcome to come to my team. I would love to have a scribe such as yourself. A Wildlife journalist” Frank says with a smile.

“Hey, don’t try to recruit my team member now.” Linz says as she steps out of the room to pick up a phone call.

“You single?” Simon asks “Cuz, if you are my sister in-law is single. I can introduce you to her.”

“Why do you always bring up your sister in-law?” Vince questions Simon.

“My wife is constantly worried her sister will never marry. I really want my wife to stop talking about this. By the way Elliot, she is not bad looking.”

Simon pulls out his phone and shows me a picture. Frank was right she was not bad looking, but also not so great.

“What do you like to do off work?” Roger asks.

“Well, I like to go out have a drink, sometimes just chill at home, watch TV, sketch.”

“What kind of sketch?”

“Well, I just sketch things.” I pull out my journal pass it across the table.

Roger flip through them Timmy, from team 7, leans toward Roger to take a look. Vince walks over.

“These are really good.” Roger compliments me.

“What is this?” Roger asks as he notices my drawing of Linz and my description. “She looks like a girl who barely graduated from high school, yet she graduated from college and was in the military. She just seems so unrealistic and just full of.”

I quickly took the journal back. However, it is too late. They try to keep a straight face. Internally, they are bursting in laughter. Linz reenters into a quiet room. Roger and Timmy start to crack.

“Linz don’t ask.” Peter said.

Timmy burst out laughing and holding his stomach. Roger starts to laugh putting his head on the table. Everyone else starts to laugh. Even Frank try not to smile, but could not resist.

“I need air.” Timmy gets and walks towards the door and almost head butt our Director.

Everyone lower their laughter and got out of their seats.

“What is so funny?” Veronica asks.

Timmy clear his throat and says, “nothing ma’am just Elliot is a funny guy.” Roger snickers at Timmy’s comment. Veronica looks at my way and then back at the team leaders who are still standing by their seats. She walks with firmness to her seat, following behind her is Rick, Mr. Fellman, and Mr. Guildaheart. I learn quickly that Veronica is not someone you want to joke with.
