Enjoy the video project I did for my intro class.

The long waited new visual (made in august) is now here to watch. (or on a concert)



as a result of a few weeks of researching, shopping and walking. Again I could write long hours about the concept, but who cares, it s a visual for a gig! This time Elena Pomares was helping me with animation.
I must say although I am not a fashion designer, but had quite a fun coming up with ideas for eclectic animation shoes…

You can now watch the full visuals what we made earlier this spring for Basement Jaxx. The music is just an instrumental version of the song here.  It was made for a 7m long LED screend, which is placed behind the guys on the stage. I saw it this week on the gig at the Roundhouse in London, but I didn t record it, so anyone have a documentation, please send it over.



The original version is 1080*288, while this has been scaled down by Vimeo,  so some of the details of the carefully prepared textures are lost.
Due to my hand problems, as I mentioned before, Toby Jackman helped me, and animated the bear character-animations.
if you look carefully on the internet, you can find other visuals done by other animators for this tour. I still don t know all of them, but I guess I recognized some styles…

god, the lives people live are so dull.  I’m serious, you sir/madam are as boring as a rock…in fact if you were even less boring it would be more entertaining to watch a seed grow to be a tomato plant and sprout tomatoes over the period of a few months than hear about your lame life.  Reading people’s status’ and updates…always seems like people are up to stuff, just not interesting stuff.  So redundant: Happy Hour, Clubs, I had dinner and then I went and met with my family, followed by drinks at so and so” or “had a wonderful weekend with friends and family”…”love conquers all”…..”im with my girl”…..”I’m masturbating to your mum”….”your dog just took a shit in my living room”…and the final twist to the story “You couldn’t get an erection for 8 months”…..god is this what we do?  I’m not saying my life is any more interesting, just seems that life should be something more than talking about clubs, hanging out with your rooti poo friends, or meeting for dinner to gossip.  Man where are the epic tales…where are my epic tales?

Must take this reality check to heart and remedy the situation immediately or at least urgently in a gradual fashion.  No more boring crap watching time go by as I get older by the second.  Going to plan random things throughout the year and make every effort to prioritize and accomplish the most bizarre and crazy things that come to my head…or at least something interesting.  Right, good plan!  Sorry for the interjection, I suck again..but wanted to bring to your attention that you suck just as much…if not more haha, back to regular blogging next entry

On a side note, whatever is going on in Europe (this may be old fad as it was posted a year ago) but I say yes to this!  Man it looks like good fun, I need an instructional video:

share a flat 2 minutes walk away from the office!  They also share it with Jenny, an unemployed journo with a massive boyfriend who is a bodyguard in Iraq.

It’s been an eventful week in the Channelbee office which means an uneventful week at the flat. Despite being the setting for a classic gag, Jenny’s absence alongside some long working hours has meant some much needed and long awaited peace for our neighbours. The focus of game-play this week has been the battle of Pro evolution soccer v Fifa, with myself backing the former and Ben trying to convert me to the latter. Despite finding that I’m actually not too bad at Fifa, I’m yet to be convinced that it will ever be my footballing game of choice even though as Ben correctly boasted; “they’ve got the proper kits and everything!”

Moving on to this week’s challenge…Tecktonic dancing has been all the rage in the office in the past few weeks so it was only right that we got involved. Set by Markos on Banterpit, the task was to imitate a couple of Japanese dancers flailing their limbs in all sorts of directions. 

After the first practice Ben’s squid arms seemed to adapt to this style a lot easier than my frozen joints, but I’m confident that tonight we will do it justice.

Apparently for a few years now all the electro kids in Paris have been doing this dance called the Tecktonik to all that electro-house on Ed Banger. Now I don’t know how much of these dance moves are really new… it looks a lot like poppin and locking and old-school rave glow stick dancing to me, but you gotta dig this whole French hip kid spin on going apeshit on the dancefloor. There seems to be a lot of wrapping your arms around your head.

Tecktonik (also known as “tck“,”electro dance” “vertigo“, “Milky Way“) is a form of dance based on a blend of techno styles (late 80s vogue, 90s  waving and old school breakdancing), started in 2007 in Paris at the outrageous club Metropolis by Hussein Ezzo and some other dancers.^[1] The music Tecktonik is usually danced to is electro house. Tecktonic has not yet succeeded in creating its own musicgenre, even though multiple attempts have been made.

All in all, I give this whole Tecktonic dance craze two gyrating and flailing thumbs up. How sweet would it be to go to a house party where everybody is Tecktonic dancing all over the place, bumping into things and knocking lamps off of end tables?

De la o vreme incoace diversi pustiulica isi posteaza filmari pe youtube despre cat de tecktonici sunt ei. Niste filmulete ridicole, cu niste insi care dau din cap, din maini, eventual si din picioare. Tecktonic este un  nou trend, un dans cica.

Bineinteles, ca tot ce vine din vest, marlanul de productie romanesca l-a adoptat si mai ales adaptat dupa propria perceptie si propriile capacitati. Asadar, vechiul emoid sau mai bine zis, clubber cu imagine de emoid (caci ei se imbraca emo, au frezele acelea cu bretoane atarnacioase, colorate precum papagalii aia mai mari si mai scumpi din pet shop-uri etc), si-a lasat deoparte (mai mult sau mai putin) vechile obiceiuri si s-au apucat sa se tecktoniceasca.

Tecktonicul asta e de fapt un dans practicat mai degraba in vest (Germania in mod deosebit, apoi Franta si Italia).Pentru mai multe informatii despre el, dati un search pe wikipedia.

Ideea principala este ca , romanii au preluat dansul asta intr-un mod total eronat. La noi s-a transformat intr-o impleticire/ innodare de maini, caci picioarele cel mai adesea nu se misca.

Majoritatea tineretului roman adopta orice trend venit din occident, indiferent cat de penibil ar fi. Acum, se intreaba de ce sunt vazuti drept ridicoli si se rade de ei. Copii, nu uitati ca suntem o natie de balcanici si ca noi nu vedem lucrurile precum occidentalii. Ochiul critic este mai dezvoltat iar oamenii mai traditionalisti, asadar ceea ce e nou e criticat si analizat la sange.

Nu stiu cat de coerenta am fost in postul asta, dar sper ca ati inteles ideea lui. E aproape 3 dimineata.

it was gaypride in paris, and untill my phone went dead i managed to do some filming…..it looked a lot cooler to see him  dancing in real life though but you might get the mood, kinda cool liquid movements with a slight jumping style….

Ok, about 6 onths ago I watched this video and I also went to see Yelle in concert, but if you haven’t hear of her or of the dance style called Tecktonik, watch this! it’s fun and I wish I could move like that!

hahahahaa this is awesome. looks so much fun to do. Plus the fanny pack went really well with the dance. ^^

Li essa semana dois artigos interessantes sobre movimentos de música, dança e arte que têm lugar no mundo real, mas que contam com o apoio do mundo virtual para sua divulgação e propagação “ideológica”.

O primeiro deles foi o “London freeze“, um movimento, manifestação, performance, encontro, ou sei lá o quê, que rolou em Londres na Liverpool Street Station, no dia 30 de abril, entre 18:24 e 18:26h. No dia, local e horário combinado – pessoas já avisadas da manifestação, pela web – se “congelaram” em poses, no mais puro estilo da brincadeira “estátua!”. A mensagem que se encontrava no site do movimento era:

Interessante observar como a internet tem um elevado índice de propagação e potencial de viralização de muitas interações que se dão no mundo real. Sei que o que eu digo é meio banal. Afinal, são inúmeras as conjunções de ações virtuais com reflexo na vida real e vice-versa. Não é novidade, mas podemos ver cada vez mais esses tipos de interação/ organização real-virtual, como por exemplo nos vários casos do Twitter em palestras (explico mais outra hora). De toda forma, apesar de ser óbvio, considero o assunto um bom tema para reflexão sociológica e comportamental.

Pois bem, o segundo caso que li foi do movimento Tecktonik que tem rolado em Paris. Jovens marcam pela internet um ponto de encontro, em que se divertem ao som de música eletrônica e visual anos 80. Além da internet ser o palco para divulgação dos encontros (vulgo “aprems”, de après-midi), vários vídeos do movimento têm pipocado pelo YouTube.

O fenômeno é de dança e também de internet, e é a primeira vez que as duas vertentes se misturam tanto – Anne Petiau, Socióloga, Sorbonne

Os ‘aprems’ são anunciados apenas em nossa página. Mesmo assim já conseguimos reinir até mil pessoas e está aumentando. O movimento permite que os participantes conheçam muitas pessoas, se comunicando pela internet e depois pessoalmente nos eventos ou nos clubes – DJ Fozzie Bear, membro do grupo organizador Dance Generation

Terwijl iedereen de mond vol heeft over tecktonic, heeft onze Vic al weer een nieuwe stijl gelanceerd. Ik vraag me af hoe lang het duurt voor vicktonic de trappen van het justitiepaleis in BXL verovert en de pers er zich massaal op stort. Vicktonic onderscheidt zich van tecktonic niet zozeer door de dansstijl maar eerder door de muziekkeuze. Bach is back!

Vandaag leek het lot een boontje te hebben voor de Tecktonik dansstijl. En toegegeven, stiekem heb ik er toch bewondering voor… Het ziet er wat freaky uit en de look (fluo kleuren, hanenkapsels, nektapijtjes, spannende broekskes, lichtgevende riemen, …) die erbij hoort is helemaal mijn ding niet, maar de snelle armbewegingen zijn wel funky. Bovendien moet ik de trend nu wel een beetje opvolgen, want er zit een leuk concept aan te komen! Wat dat inhoudt, mag ik jullie nog niet verklappen Maar jullie horen het vast en zeker binnenkort!
