I just watched an internet news video about this. It is for real. It was discussed on a morning show like Good Morning America and a Muslim woman was interviewed. She was not pleased or amused.It will go perfectly with the accompanying Ken Abullah doll and the forty virgins in heaven Christmas display doll set. Mattle Inc. must be a glutton for controversy. This must be a thinly veiled secret or a real cover up. There are so many layers to this story. How will Barbie’s baby blue eyes shine through those eye slits?

The attacks on Pearl Harbor were an American tragedy that most would never have predicted. December 7th, 1941 is a day that most people will not forget. Pearl Harbor was a tragedy that brought about America’s involvement in World War II . Many books and movies have been made in hopes that people will know the truth of what really happened on that Sunday morning. However, there are far more historical inaccuracies than real life facts. The movie Pearl Harbor directed by Michael Bay is no exception. There are far more lies and fabrications than actual truths. This movie was certainly made for entertainment only and not to be served as a historical reference.
During the 1940s the great depression in America had just ended. Americans were learning to be cautious; however at the same time, they were optimistic for the future. December 7th, 1941 is a day that Teddy Roosevelt stated “is a date that will live in infamy”. Pearl Harbor is on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. It is used as a naval base and is also the headquarters of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. The attack of Pearl Harbor was supposed to be a preventative action to keep the U.S. Pacific Fleet from influencing the war. Early morning December 7th, 1941 the first attack began. Almost 200 planes made up of dive bombers, fighter planes, torpedo bombers, and heavy bombers were sent to attack Pearl Harbor by the Japanese Navy. The second wave consisted of 171 planes. “The Navy and Marine Corps suffered a total of 2,896 casualties of which 2,117 were deaths and 779 were wounded. The army lost 228 and 113 were seriously wounded. At least 57 civilians were killed in the process.” The Japanese lost 55 airmen, nine crewmen on their midget submarines and an unknown number on their large submarines. The Japanese carrier task force sailed away undetected. All of this happened in two hours and twenty minutes. Just four days later on December 11th 1941, Italy and Germany declared war on the United States.
The movie Pearl Harbor directed by Michael Bay, has won an Oscar, received 10 other awards and 14 nominations. However, it has also been on lists such as “Most historically inaccurate movies of all time.” Many people have said that there isnt even a slight resemblance between the movie and the actual attack on Pearl Harbor. Historians label Pearl Harbor as a joke. The movie Pearl Harbor was released on May 25, 2001. It has an all-star cast of Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding Jr., JonVoight, Alec Baldwin and Tom Sizemore. Ben Affleck plays Rafe McCkawley who is based on a real fighter pilot by the name of Joe Foss who had 32 confirmed kills. Many things that Rafe McCkawley says in this movie is a direct quote from Joe Foss. The movie is more of a romance than anything else. The movie begins with two young boys, Rage and Danny. They are pretending to be pilots when they actually make their plane start to fly. Dannys dad comes outside and is really angry and starts to hit Danny. Rafe protects Danny and continues to do that throughout the rest of their friendship. Years later Rafe and his best friend Danny both fall in love with the same nurse named Evelyn. When Evelyn believes that Rafe is dead, she starts a relationship with Danny. When Rafe turns out to be alive and he finds out about his loves new relationship, him and Danny are now enemies. However, when the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor they are forced to fight together again and put their differences aside so they can fight to protect their country. In the end, Danny dies soon after he finds out that he is fathering Evelyns baby. With so much emphasis on the love story in this movie, the writers must not have spent as much time on researching historical facts because there are many noticeable mistakes that make you wonder what the writers were actually thinking about when writing a movie about Pearl Harbor.
There are many historical inaccuracies in Pearl Harbor. There are several goofs that simply have to do with the year something took place. In one scene in the beginning of the movie you can clearly see a car license plate that says 1943. Also, in the beginning of the movie there is a newsreel from 1940 showing the US fighting in Cologne. This however, did not happen until 1945. One mistake that is really noticeable is right after Evelyn tells Rafe that she is pregnant, the camera zooms out and you can see a microphone in the top right corner. During the attack, it shows the Japanese bombing the hospitals when actually that did not happen. It would have been a waste of Japanese resources for them to bomb the hospitals. Any damage that may have been done to the American Hospitals, were caused by American aircraft shells falling on them. At one point, Franklin D. Roosevelt stands up from his wheelchair which doesnt seemed to be based on any truth. It was added for dramatic effect. It seems that the writers and creators of this movie didnt do theit’s comparing the movie to the actual event.

Nascar and european soccer, might as well cover some more stuff that either isn’t a sport a all, or one that is not played in America. You never saw Nascar on ESPN until they got involved financially! Now they won’t shut up about it, they think they can just cover things and people will follow it, no, the opposite, it makes me dislike nascar even more.

With her new movie “Did You Hear About the Morgans?” and highly anticipated“Sex and the City: The Movie 2″ coming soon,Sarah Jessica Parker has a lot on her mind, including her new twin girls. But she still is finding the time to talk about her role as Carrie and give tips on fashion and relationships inGlamour’s January 2010 issue.Since “Sex and the City” started in 1998, it has been giving us ladies tips on how to live the fabulous single life in the big city, how to decode men’s brains and how to deal with major heartbreak. Last year’s movie continued that tradition, but SJP said the sequel won’t be nearly as serious. “The first movie had a lot of sadness in it, and it was very brave about breaking the rules of romantic comedy,” she told the mag. “This one is very much the antidote for that: It’s a romp. It’s about the idea of women’s and men’s roles in marriage, and old traditions versus new ones. The story is really fun, but it’s also about something.”

But Glamour talked to the actress about how movies ofen romanticize love and life — making it hard to understand what happens after the movie ends … after you find love. She responded by saying how easily we all are satisfied with “grand gestures” when you are young, but “when you have children and years invested, it’s much more complicated.” I can see where it could get complicated with Carrie being married to Mr. Big. “You are not meant to know that when you are younger,” she said of the reality of love and marriage. “So I don’t think anybody should regret the choices made in their twenties.” I guess all the mistakes I’ve been making in my twenties don’t really mean much in the long run, thank heaven.

Along with her romantic ideals, Carrie’s eye for style has also developed and changed as she got older, and so has SJP’s. She’s decided to take a simpler approach to style: “I don’t buy anything trendy.” She still has her own idea of fashion though, knowing “what looks good on me and what doesn’t,” which means she vows never to wear a turtleneck.

In Livingston, who ruined Sex and the City for nearly a season by playing whiny Jack Berger, is suing an anonymous Wikipedia authorwho keeps updating Livingston’s stub to say he’s not only A Gay, but A Gay who is dating someone named Lee Dennison. Livingston married a woman, Standoff co-star Rosemarie DeWitt, earlier this year, and professes to be happily heterosexual. But he’s losing sleep at night knowing Wikipedia keeps saying he’s a homo, so he’s filing libel, privacy invasion, and unauthorized usage of his likeness charges against the as-yet-unidentified Internet prankster. This lawsuit is stupid for so many reasons.

1) Courts have stopped ruling that being called gay — whether you are or are not — is defamation. Because, despite what Tom Cruise wants, allowing gay rumors to qualify as libel is akin to saying being gay is somehow ruinous. But ask Rupert Everett for a second opinion.

2) Livingston is suing an anonymous Internet lurker, who is probably some reject kid having a good laugh. Or maybe a spurned ex-girlfriend. Or ex-boyfriend! The lawsuit claims that the editing, which began in May, re-appears every time Livingston’s camp corrects the Wiki entry. Rather than identifying who keeps updating his Wiki page, what he probably actually wants is a court injunction to force Wikipedia to block unauthorized updates to his page. But Wikipedia is a website that enjoys wide legal protections because it allows anyone to edit its entries without moderation, which frees it from most defamation arguments. And unless the judge is a wild banshee who craps on the First Amendment, nobody sitting on a court bench wants to be the guy delivering government-sanctioned censorship by telling Wikipedia what it can and cannot publish.

3) Most stupidly, by filing a lawsuit, Livingston just guaranteed that his Wikipedia page will, soon enough,permanently include the rumors of his gayness because it will note that he filed a lawsuit to stop them, and that is an irrefutable fact, which Wikipedia’s independent editors will no doubt seek to include from here unto eternity.

Iqbal has played many roles in television and film including “Community”, “Two and a Half Men”, “ER”, and “The West Wing”.  He is known for playing Principal Figgins on the hit Fox television show, “Glee”.  I chatted with him about the show, life as an actor, and of course words of wisdom from the principal himself!  Find him on Facebook at the “Iqbal Theba Page”!

NEAL: You have done so many television and film roles, but for those who are unfamiliar with your back-story, tell us in a nutshell how you wound up in Hollywood.
IQBAL: Born in Karachi, Pakistan on December 20, 1963. Started college as a Freshman at the University of Oklahoma in 1981. Studied Civil Engineering at first and have a BS in Construction Engineering Management. Hated my job in a Construction Company in Oklahoma City, so, Went back to the University of Oklahoma in 1986 and majored in Acting. Spent a year in NYC and moved to LA in 1991. Waited on about a million tables in the process.

NEAL:  You have quite a story of how you arrived to Hollywood! There must have been some pretty hard days struggling to make it in show business. Was it hard staying positive?
IQBAL: I am the most positive person you’ll ever meet. I have seen pretty bad days during my struggling actor days. In NYC, at least a couple of times, I didn’t have enough money to buy food and I went hungry. But, I never pitied myself and never gave up. My passion for Acting helped me survive.

NEAL:  When you first started out, did you ever dream you would be on such a big television hit and being in some of the biggest movies and shows out there?
IQBAL:  Of course I dreamt of all those things. But, there was a time when it all seemed so improbable.

NEAL:  Speaking of “Glee”, can you tell us what a typical day for you on the set is like?
IQBAL:  Well, I LOVE going to work on GLEE. I basically show up at Paramount Studios, which is within walking distance from where I live (can you believe my luck?!), and check in with the second AD. If the shooting is going according to the plan then I go to make-up and hair which is a formality for me… because I don’t like wearing make-up or hair gel or anything. I had requested during the Pilot shoot that they just powder my face with anti-shine and simply comb my hair right before all the takes. The agreed. So, I don’t really spend anytime in the make-up chair. Sometimes, I have a lot of free time at my hand if they are running behind. So, I drink tea and hang out with the other cast members, producers and the crew. The show has the friendliest and the most fun people and it is never boring.

NEAL: Are you amazed at the success of the show?
IQBAL:  I know it might sound cocky or arrogant, but, I knew this was going to be a hit when I read the script for the Pilot. However, I feel truly Blessed and Lucky that I am part of this amazing show.

NEAL: Obviously music is such an important part of the show. Why do you think people respond so well to the music? How do you think that has changed the way the story arc is written each week?
IQBAL:  People respond to music because it conveys something that cannot be conveyed in prose or just words. GLEE works because it’s characters sing only when they must and words wont express their true feelings. I don’t think the story arc changes because of the music. I think the writers write a good story and then pick the music according to the character’s need to express a particular feeling, emotion or a point of view.

NEAL: On “Glee”, the show deals with some heavy issues: teen pregnancy, being gay, high school drama, etc. When you looked at the script for the first time, were you surprised about how the show was able to keep things light while getting their important messages out there?
IQBAL:  What’s brilliant about GLEE is that it never lets itself wallow in any situation or a point of view, be it grief or exhilaration . It doesn’t try to “milk” an issue or a feeling. It deals with issues without cheapening the subject matter. And that aspect of the show wasn’t as glaringly obvious until I saw the Pilot because the way they edit the show and the use of background music or lack of it.

NEAL: Can you reveal to us anything that will be happening in this season?
IQBAL:  Well, I would love to tell your readers exactly what’s going to happen… but, I cantJ. All I can say is that great episodes are ahead and I hope you all continue to watch the show. Oh, here’s something you may not know… we finished shooting 13 episodes back in early July. We are going to start shooting the 14th episode on Jan 6. So, between mid December and early April no new episodes will air, assuming they continue airing new episodes till mid December.

NEAL: What new projects do you have lined up?
IQBAL:  Well, there is a Pilot called Ghosts/Aliens for Comedy Central that I just did. If it gets the green light then it will shoot in the summer of 2010. I also have a recurring role on the NBC show “Community”. I am also in the process of developing a feature Film for myself but that’s in its very early stages and I cant tell you anything about the story or subject matter at this point.

NEAL: If you had to give advice to any aspiring actors, what would it be?
IQBAL: If you are serious about becoming a working actor then make sure all your energies AND money are spent in the following order of priority… (1) Pursuit of Acting. (2) Food. (3) Roof over your head…… Your determination to become a working actor is the most important tool that you have.

NEAL: Do you think nowadays, more actors who are minorities are getting film/television roles? In regard to minority actors, do you think there is a trend in more diversity in television and film roles?
IQBAL: There is more diversity now than before, more so in TV than in Film. Films are still very rigidly cast. Principal Figgins was written for a white guy but they cast me. It would not have happened in Film.

NEAL: Being a minority actor has its pros and cons. For you, do you feel it helps you gain roles in Holly or at times works against you?
IQBAL: Being a minority works in my favor when it comes to smaller parts. But, I usually don’t have a prayer when it comes to bigger roles.

NEAL: To date, what has been the most surreal moment of being in Hollywood? I guess, your “Hollywood moment” –and why?
IQBAL: I think “surreal” moments happen to people who didn’t have to struggle for too long. For someone like me who has spent a couple of decades in pursuit of Acting everything is… well, it is what it is.

NEAL: To go along with that question, what has been your favorite role to date and why?
IQBAL: Figgins of course! I find it quite challenging because Figgins has to be played with the right mix of someone who is an authority figure but who is also very insecure about his own strengths as a person. It is a very fine line to walk as an actor.

NEAL: As Principal Figgins, you have the tough job of keeping some sanity and trying to dispense words of wisdom to your school. Any last words of wisdom for the readers?

Wicked Tony Award winner Idina Menzel will fly into the Golden Globe-nominated series “Glee,” the Associated Press reports.

Menzel will appear in the new episodes of “Glee,” which are set to begin airing in April 2010. “OK, listen. We had Kristin [Chenoweth] now Idina’s coming,” cast member Chris Colfer told the AP. “I can’t even fathom that. I can’t even talk about it. I am so, so excited.”

As previously reported, Menzel has been in talks to portray the coach of McKinley High’s rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline. The Wicked and Rent star will likely appear in all nine of the upcoming episodes. Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening) has also been confirmed to portray the lead member of Vocal Adrenaline in the 2010 episodes of “Glee.”

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy is also working on an all-Madonna episode of the series for 2010.

Menzel earned a Tony Award for her performance as Elphaba in the Stephen Schwartz musical Wicked. She was Tony nominated for her Broadway debut in Rent and has also appeared in Aida, The Wild Party, Summer of ‘42 and See What I Wanna See. Her film credits include “Summer of Sam,” “Still a Kiss,” “Kissing Jessica Stein,” “Tollbooth” and “Water.”

Warner Bros. has released another new still from the Sex and the City Sequel. Debuted on Thursday, December 10, the picture features Carrie Bradshaw Preston, Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbes Brady, and Charlotte York Goldenblatt. Each of the foursome is captured holding a microphone and donning glamorous outfits

M. Sturman Jewelry may not yet be a household name, however should the pieces that were sent to the set of the newest Sex in the City movie make final cut that should change. Nothing seems to stamp an item as a “must have” faster then when it is seen adorning Carrie or one of her closest friends on their glamorous romp through life . The fictitious foursome have become a hallmark of what constitutes high end fashion.

It was exciting to learn that not all the pieces selected for the movie, and possibly destined for stardom themselves, are already part of the fashion elite’s wardrobe. This New York City based jewelry designer uses a collection of unique pearls, stones, beads and vintage pieces, includingSwarovski cabochons and blown glass to create the unusual items in her collection. A stand out piece features Swarovski stones ordered by Christian Dior prior to World War II. Inspired by the colors, shapes and textures of the raw materials the designer painstaking crochets or weaves each piece in her New York City Studio.

The designer Peggy Sturman has a background in art history and floral design which is easily seen in her work. Will she be the next “it” girl of the fashion industry? Only time will tell, but Carrie and the girls could certainly give her a leg up. All the pieces featured above and in the gallery are currently on the set of the new movie.

We got all the girls looking fabulous as they shoot airport scenes as well as Sarah Jessica Parker with her nose buried deep in a book.
