Antipolo City-Leaders of the fisherfolk alliance Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) and Save Laguna Lake Movement (SLLM) agreed to file criminal and administrative charges against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) chair Edgar Manda before the Office of the Ombudsman, whom they blamed as masterminds behind Laguna Lake’s swallowing of more than 30 towns in Rizal, Laguna and parts of the National Capital Region.

Since last week, leaders of Pamalakaya and SLMM had been conducting formal and informal consultations among fishermen, farmers and urban poor groups in Laguna Lake on the filing of class suit and other appropriate charges against President Arroyo and Mr. Manda. They asserted that the continuing closure of Napindan Hydraulic Control Structure (NCHS) was the immediate cause why majority of towns along Laguna Lake were and are still submerged to 14.5 meter deep since typhoon Ondoy stormed the country on Sept.26.

“The collective sentiment of the people in Laguna Lake is loud and clear– they hold the Office of the President and LLDA responsible for this across-the-lake calamity, and they want to bring them to court and to the court of public opinion,” said Pamalakaya national chair Fernando Hicap in a press statement.

Hicap, also convener of SLLM said their group had also consulted advocacy groups based in Metro Manila who are also organizing urban poor, women and worker groups along Laguna Lake about their plans to charge President Arroyo and Mr. Manda before the Office of the Ombudsman. He said the response was very positive and the filing of case against Arroyo and Manda may take place next month.

“The Laguna Lake people in particular and the Filipino people in general have a case against Arroyo and Manda, and this will be billed in contemporary history as People of the Philippines versus President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and LLDA general manager Edgar Manda,” the Pamalakaya official said.

Hicap said aside from Arroyo, other government officials will also be included in the charge sheet, but the Pamalakaya leader said they will reveal the names on the eve of the filing of charges against the President and the LLDA general manager.
Pamalakaya said aside from filing criminal and other appropriate charges, it will join forces with SLMM in the signature campaign calling for the immediate and unconditional dismantling of NCHS. The group said fisherfolk leaders and environmental activists have committed to initiate the campaign and gather signatures that will press the immediate removal of the controversial structure constructed in 1983.

The NHCS was built in 1983 to prevent or lessen the increase of salinity from Manila Bay and pollution from the Pasig River from entering Laguna de Bay during times of reverse flow. The NHCS is found on the confluence of Marikina and Pateros-Taguig rivers with Pasig River. This confluence is also the downstream endpoint of the Napindan Channel, which is the upper part of Pasig River that connects to Laguna de Bay.

Aside from preventing the reverse flow of Pasig River, the NHCS is also used for flood control. During the rainy season, most of the flooding along the Pasig River area is due to the increased water flow coming from Marikina River.

The Manggahan Floodway in Pasig City was constructed to divert much of this water from Marikina River directly into Laguna de Bay. By also closing the NHCS during times of rain, the water is effectively dammed in Laguna de Bay preventing it from flooding the downstream portions of Pasig River.

Yesterday, Pamalakaya, party list group Anakpawis and Oplan Sagip Kanayunan in cooperation with church groups affiliated with the protestant National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP), Task Force Dambana and the Promotion of Church People’s Response (PCPR) kicked off a relief drive in Barangay Ticulio, in Cardona, Rizal, which is part of Talim Island in Laguna Lake.

The relief drive billed as Operation Temptation Island bannered the theme “Relief, Relieve, Survive” was joined by 30 volunteers who helped in the distribution of relief goods of 500 packs for the same number of fishing families in flooded sitios of Cavite, Poblacion, Tondo, Sapang Palay and Masangkay, all in barangay Ticulio, in Cardona, Rizal.

Pamalakaya information officer Gerry Albert Corpuz clarified that Operation Temptation Island is not a remake of a classic campy film in the 80s known as Temptation Island directed by the late director Joey Gosiengfiao for Regal Films which starred Dina Bonnevie and former beauty queens Jennifer Cortez, Azenith Briones and Deborah Sun.

“Talim Island is a total paradise because of its natural beauty and nearness to the mainland of Rizal and Laguna provinces. Real estate developers and land speculators are very much eager to grab lands in the island because of its tourism potential. In fact, Malacanang has marked Talim Island for flagship eco-tourism projects,” Corpuz explained.

“The objectives of our relief drive are to provide immediate relief to the people of Talim Island, inform island people about the root causes why Talim Island and the entire 90,000 hectare Laguna Lake are in shambles and what to do to address the current problems posed by the highly critical water level in the lake,” the Pamalakaya information officer added.

Upon reaching the small fish port in Cardona, relief participants from Manila took a 30-minute boat ride on their way to Barangay Ticulio where they were met and assisted by Barangay officials and Pamalakaya-Rizal chairperson Romy Antazo. #

Because the barangay remains 9 feet water deep, volunteers traversed makeshift bridges to dispatch the goods to calamity stricken residents.

Pamalakaya information officer Gerry Albert Corpuz clarified that Operation Temptation Island is not a remake of a classic campy film in the 80s known as Temptation Island directed by the late director Joey Gosiengfiao for Regal Films which starred Dina Bonnevie and former beauty queens Jennifer Cortez, Azenith Briones and Deborah Sun.

Upon reaching the small fish port in Cardona, relief participants from Manila took a 20-minute boat ride on their way to Barangay Ticulio where they were met and assisted by Barangay officials and Pamalakaya-Rizal chairperson—Romy Antazo.

Antazo, a long time fisherfolk leader of Pamalakaya and convener of Save Laguna Lake Movement (SLMM) informed relief operation participants and the 500 relief beneficiaries that the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) was principally liable for the sudden rise in the water of Laguna Lake to critical level.

He said the main cause of the flooding in more than 30 towns in Laguna, Rizal and the National Capital Region is the closure of Napindan Hydraulic Control Structure (NCHS), which prevented the excess waters of Laguna Lake to pass through Pasig River on its way to Manila Bay.

The Pamalakaya official in Rizal maintained that the dismantling of NCHS is the immediate solution to permanently assure the disposal of excess waters in Laguna Lake to the Pasig River ,and then to Manila Bay. Antazo said the flooded areas which make inhabitable for 700,000 residents in Laguna province alone can be restored back to its previous state to allow lake inhabitants to resume living along the lake.

The groups said LLDA should stop all its reclamation and road dike projects along the lake because these projects are obstructing the flow of waters in Laguna Lake. The LLDA has been reclaiming thousands of hectares of public lands in Laguna Lake for various flagship projects like the Rizal International Airport and high end condominiums in the lakeshore towns of Taguig, Pateros and Muntinlupa.

They said the forced relocation of 400,000 lakeshore residents is not the solution, and it will only complicate the problem of prevailing social injustice and would violate the economic and housing rights of hundreds of thousands of people along the lake. #

3) True Beauty, que é um programa tão, mas tão sem-vergonha, que é impossível googlar e descobrir em que canal/horário ele passa. ontem eu assisti no mesmo horário do brazil’s next top model, na warner ou no e!, não lembro bem. resumindo, ele reúne um bando de gente bizarra para escolher a pessoa MAIS BONITA dos eua. sério. e ainda não chegamos na parte boa. o GRANDE LANCE é que sem saber eles não são julgados pela sua beleza exterior e sim pela beleza INTERIOR. true beauty, sacou? sacou? só quem é eliminado fica sabendo da verdade. agora me diz. dá pra ser MAIS GENIAL que isso?

temptation island, temporada de 5 anos atrás passando no E!, só eu devo assistir essa porcaria. o que mais me intriga são aqueles biquinis gigantes anos 90 de americano sem bunda. minha única tentação é de comprar uns biquinis novos praquela gente, meodeos.

09) america’s next top model, que tá aqui no final porque tá passando reprise da segunda temporada e eu não consigo ver a tyra banks vestindo calça semi-baggy e conjuntinho de moletom.

10) the bachelor, que não tá passando agora e é uma pena. não recomendado pra quem sofre de vergonha alheia.

11) hell’s kitchen, apesar de eu estar numa fase saco cheio pra falta de educação do chef ramsay. esgotou o personagem já.

Join me as I take a walk through the pages of Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John, (aka the “Gospels”) in a Chronological Order and try to grow closer to, and learn more about Jesus.  Feel free to go back and read the INTRO ABOUT THIS SERIES to understand where all this came from for me.

Not sure how many of you remember the “train wreck” of a reality show called Temptation Island – but I guess it was merely a grade B “spinoff” of a show that took place a couple thousand years ago.  We find this story told in 3 of the Gospel accounts. Matthew 4:1-11, Luke 4:1-13, and a short clip in Mark 1:12-13.

You might notice some slight variation in the way the stories are relayed in these books but the basic premis is the exact same.  Mark has a tendency to just be EXTREMELY brief and leave out a lot of details.  I sort of liken it to stories sometimes told differently be adults and children.  An adult might say “we went to Disney World and had a great time” – the kid will say “we went to Disney, and saw Mickey & Minnie, and we rode the tram, we saw a movie, we ate hot dogs and ice cream, we watched the parade, then we saw fireworks” etc  and so on.

So we will look more closely at the Luke & Matthew passage.  This episode also takes place right after our earlier look @ Jesus’ Beautiful Baptism!

Jesus left from His baptism there in the Jordan river and headed off into the desert.  It was here that He would battle against satan.  It was during a time of Fasting & Prayer for 40 days with no food that satan came to tempt Jesus.

First up satan hit Jesus with a temptation to provide for His physical hunger – but Jesus answered with scripture – Deuteronomy 8:3 to be exact (you can hear the Batman “KA-POW” right after Jesus speaks these words if you listen really close!)

So another temptation came from satan in the form of trying to get Jesus to fall down and worship satan – the promise was all that Jesus could see from the high vantage point would become His.  Pretty interesting since Jesus is a part of God and they created all of this – so I would pretty much think it is His anyway??  But instead of trying to get “logical” with satan – Jesus once again replies with scripture – Deuteronomy 6:13 to be exact (and again – the subtle tones of Batman’s “BIFF – POW” are heard echoing in the distance!)

This time around satan thinks he has it all figured out.  He takes Jesus to the highest point of the Temple – and dares Jesus to jump off.  Then satan breaks bad and drops a lil scripture knowledge of his own – Psalm 91:11-12 to be exact.

Nah just kidding – let’s finish this – RIGHT NOW!  You can hear the music building in background – Jesus steps up and gives the final smack-down to satan.  He fires back with another well time passage from scripture - Deuteronomy 6:16 (and once again we hear the “BIFF-BAM-POW-SMACK” and just like Howard Cosell calling “Down Goes Frazier” - we hear the ringside call of “down goes the devil – down goes the devil” and Jesus stands victorious!)

Man what an exciting adventure – but I don’t want you to miss one last ominous phrase at the end of this passage - ¹³When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time. The devil may have dipped out but he was not finished and would continue to search for an “opportune time” to return and battle Jesus again.  This phrase seems to be begging to set the stage for another much more monumental showdown in the not so distant future.

So what should I learn from this heated episode of “Temptation Desert”?

I think first and foremost that scripture will be one of the most powerful tools I can have against temptation.  (In fact I might need to check out Deuteronomy a lil more often!)

Also that satan is crafty and will use ANYTHING & EVERYTHING at his disposal – including knowing scripture on his own – although it will be twisted.  That he is also keenly aware of our spiritual highs & lows and will seek those “opportune” times to attack.

I can take solace in the fact that Jesus faced the same temptations that we will and HE HAS OVERCOME and can give me the power to do the same!

Die Temptation Island party in Versuz dus… Ja… Ik weet nog niet goed welke term ik  ervoor moet gebruiken. Een kleine schets.

• we nemen al vrij vroeg de trein richting Hasselt. Het is niet bij de deur + we hadden nog geen tickets en wilden wel zeker binnengeraken.
• Al vanop het perron hadden we drie shotjes op (schnappes die we nog als souveniertje hadden gekregen).
• Bijna 2 uur moesten we op de trein zitten, die wonderwel heel snel voorbij gingen.
• Een plannetje van mappy moest ons tot bij Versuz brengen. 3 minuten stappen was het verdict…. tot ik het papier ter handen nam en vrij trots waarnam dat het 3 minuten met een groot voertuig was. Al bij al was het dan toch maar een kwartiertje stappen.
• Heel makkelijk in Versuz binnengeraakt.
• Wat gedronken, wat gedanst.
• Chris en Jurgen gespot in het toilet. En daarna heel dicht bij het podium gestaan waar de ‘temptations’ werden voorgesteld.
• Besloten dat Ann Van Elsen toch wat mag bijkomen, en een haar haar wat korter mag doen. (‘T kind heeft veel te veel haar naar mijn mening).
• Nog wat ‘gedanst’. Deze keer ‘gedanst’ want veel beweegruimte was er niet meer. Veel te veel volk hebben ze binnegelaten!
• Een half uur op drank moeten wachten.
• Kelly zag tijdens het aanschuiven voor drank plots zwart voor haar ogen. Even op de koude grond neergezeten, en toen ging het beter (gelukkig!).
• Een uur later had ik plots ‘luchtpijppijn’ (don’t laugh, ik heb dat regelmatig… geen idee waarom). Iets gegeten en weer even gaan dansen.
• Plots kregen we ‘onze klopt’…. en we hadden nog zo’n 3 uur voor de boeg.
• Wat rond gewandeld. De andere zalen gaan checken.
• Nog meer Jurgen, Riccardo, Sandy, Koen, Stéphanie en Steve gespot.
• Ons wonderwel beheerst en Steve niet geklopt
• ‘Gechillt’ op de zeteltjes aan het toilet.
• In slaap gevallen op diezelfde zeteltjes.
• Onze jas gaan halen en ons naar het station begeven.
• Om 6 uur in de trein op spoor 6 gestapt. Wat de conducteur goed gezien had. Wat de juiste trein was volgens de tv’s.
• Om 10 na 6 een conducteur op ons afgestapt krijgen met de vraag: “jullie moeten toch naar Antwerpen?”
• Volmondig “ja” zeggen, de conducteur een smile tevoorschijn zien halen en horen zeggen: “dat was het eerste deel van de trein, die is juist vertrokken. Jullie zullen een uur moeten wachten.”
• Boos worden op de conducteur. Willen wenen, maar niet meer kunnen van vermoeidheid.
• Dan maar heel hard lachen, en tevreden zijn met het café dat al open was en omelet serveerde.
• Om 10 na 7 de trein pakken, om om 9 uur weer in Mechelen te staan en eindelijk in bed te kruipen!

Volgende keer gaan we met de auto! Kunnen we weg wanneer we willen.

We hebben een digicorder gekocht… Dat ding om digitale tv mee te kunnen zien. Dat ding dat een betere beeldkwaliteit geeft. Dat ding met een ingebouwde videotheek.

Laat dat laatste nu een piepklein beetje een probleem zijn. Dat ding gaat mij handen vol geld kosten!!! Films op aanvraag, programma\’s vroegtijdig bekijken.

Kijk, ik heb niet zoveel zelfdiscipline. Toen ik deze avond thuiskwam bijvoorbeeld, kocht ik de aflevering van Temptation Island die morgen wordt uitgezonden. Ik heb getwijfeld, maar ik vind altijd wel een excuus waar ik zelf heel hard in geloof (Temptation Island begint pas rond half 11, en ik wil morgen vroeg in mijn bed anders ga ik vrijdag na een hele dag werken te moe zijn om nachtje door te kunnen doen in Versuz (zie hier)).

Anyway, dat van die betere beeldkwaliteit… Ja, er is verschil. Is het om over naar huis te schrijven? Bwa.

Ikkeeeeuuuh!

De euhm ‘verleidelijke’ Sandy uit Temptation Island staat deze week in de P-magazine.

Nog een pittig detail, Sandy wil graag bij de politie gaan, maar stelt na het uitzenden van Temptation haar toelatingsexamen even uit. Wel is ze al geslaagd voor de psychologische en IQ testen, nu moet ze enkel nog de fysieke testen ondergaan en voor de commissie verschijnen. En wie weet heeft de politie in Limburg er weer een fantastische aanwinst bij

Vanavond is het weer zover. Heel wat Vlamingen zetten zich voor de buis voor een nodige dosis breinloos entertainment (“seks & tetten” zoals sommigen het stellen). Nog voor het zevende seizoen van de VT4 reeks Temptation Island van start ging sprak Supo met deelnemer Chris over zijn ervaring. Ik mocht Chris daarna fotograferen en ondanks het feit dat hij een ongelofelijk feestvarken is op het tropische eiland, was hij erg bescheiden voor de camera.

Mijn tweede Temptation Island-postje, en ik heb zo het gevoel dat het niet het laatste zal zijn… Het programma fascineert mij gewoon.

Oké… Wat een loser is die Steve? Serieus? Ik had hem al lang gedumpt! Even een schets: Steve is samen met Stephanie. Loopt al vanaf dag één achter vrijgezel Sandy – en als ik zeg loopt achter mag je dit vrij letterlijk  nemen. “Want Sandy heeft een mooi figuurtje.”  Wat dus wil zeggen dat zijn Stephanie dat niet heeft… volgens meneer.

Steve, die zelf kaal is en flaporen heeft nota bene, vindt zijn vriendin lelijk en te dik. Als hij dit zou denken tot daar aan toe. Maar nee, Steve besluit dit even voor heel Vlaanderen en omstreken te verkondigen op televisie. En dan nog meerdere malen ook. Loser!

Blijkbaar zegt hij dat ook regelmatig tegen Stephanie zelf. Daaa-aaag zelfbeeld van het meisje. “Ik plaag haar daar vaak mee, ja. Ze mag dan ook wel wat afvallen. Moest ze er nu moeite voor doen, maar je weet niet wat die eet hé.”  Mag dat meisje nu al niet meer eten? Het zijn niet zijn letterlijke woorden, maar daar komt het op neer.
En dan volgde er ook nog iets à la “als ze moeite moest doen, zou ik haar het geld geven.” Op wat slaat dat? Wil hij een liposuctie betalen ofzo? Ik snap echt niet waarom dat meisje daar nog mee samen is. En omgekeerd ook: als ze dan toch lelijk en dik is, waarom blijft hij er dan al vijf jaar bij? pfuh!

Jesus! Stephanie is dus echt niet dik hé. Ik hoop dat ze haar Steve dumpt en “ne keer goe van bil gaat” met vrijgezel Riccardo. Hij geeft haar tenminste ontbijt! Ontbijt… als in eten!

Voila, dat moest me toch echt van het hart.

Gisteren heb ik nog eens naar “Temptation Island” gekeken. Zoals steeds heb ik er weer van genoten. Hoewel ik nog altijd niet begrijp hoe iemand zichzelf en zijn partner zover kan krijgen om mee te doen. Misschien is het ook wel de voyeur in mij die het zo leuk vindt, maar ik vind het dus allemaal heel erg entertaining. Het observeren van het gedrag blijft toch wel leuk, en dan vooral in die speciale omstandigheden.

Het is ook wel allemaal goed bedacht. Je haalt 4 koppels uit elkaar, zet ze samen met wat vrijgezellen op een paradijselijke setting en overgiet dat geheel met sloten alcohol. Zoiets levert toch gegarandeerd spectaculaire dingen op. Bovendien speel je ook nog wat met de gevoelens van de deelnemers door hen beelden te laten zien van hun partner. Goed geselecteerde beelden, waarschijnlijk ook vaak uit de context gerukt die dan de gepaste verontwaardiging oproepen…. met alle gevolgen vandien.

Achteraf moeten de deelnemers trouwens ook niet komen klagen. Alleen de deelnemers van het eerste jaar hebben recht van spreken omdat die niet echt wisten waar ze aan begonnen. Nu zouden ze wel beter moeten weten.

Maar ik blijf het dus wel grappig vinden hoe die ene kerel gisteren helemaal van slag was toen hij beelden te zien kreeg van een vrijgezel die (in het zwembad) het kontje van zijn vriendin aanraakte en dan nog meer van slag toen hij beelden zag waar ze zei dat die vrijgezel wel erg knap was.  De reden dat het me verwonderde, was dat hij al enkele keren met een vrijgezelle dame onder de lakens allerlei turnoefeningen had gedaan… Zelf mag hij dus wel overspelig zijn, van zijn vriendin pikt hij het niet.

Als vrijgezel zou ik er ook wel eens aan willen meedoen. Maar dan is er natuurlijk een probleem, want de mannen daar zijn allemaal jong, knap en gespierd. Aan geen van die eisen kan ik voldoen… misschien dus voor volgend jaar eens een nieuw concept. Kies een keertje voor 40plussers, en ga zo een keertje na of die al meer verstand hebben dan de huidige deelnemers…

Het is weer zover een nieuwe seizoen van Temptation Island is begonnen. Weer 4 nieuwe kopels die de ‘relatietest’ aangaan. Het enige verschil is dat het dit jaar 4 Vlaamse kopels zijn, terwijl de verleider/verleidsters wel Nederlands zijn. Ik denk dat de afgelopen jaren wel heeft aangetoont, dat je relatie er gewoon aan stuk gaat.

Nog al normaal, ik denk als mijn vriend daar met 15 knappe meiden op een eiland ziet en hij zou er helemaal niets doen, ik nog zou vrezen dat ie homo is.

Naast dat wordt je jaren later nog steeds uitgelachen. Ik zou echt niet met zo iets mee doen. But I love to watch

Ik kan begrijpen dat de verleidsters mee doen om zo in de P-magazine of Ché te komen.  Maar wat ik me afvraag is of ze er geld voor krijgen als ze iemand kunnen verleiden. Want soms zijn die mannen toch echt te lelijk om mee te kussen of zelfs iets meer. Iemand die hier meer over weet?

De koppels van dit jaar:

Jurgen (29, Kessel-Lo) en Nathalie (24, Pellenberg)Jurgen en Nathalie zijn anderhalf jaar samen. Jurgen werkt 7 dagen op 7 als chef-kok, en gaat na zijn uren vaak nog stoom afblazen in de vele cafés die Leuven rijk is. Daarom vreest Nathalie dat hij zijn steakjes elders weleens bruiner zou durven bakken.

Jurgen beweert dat hij immuun zou zijn voor vrouwelijk schoon . Maar Nathalie gelooft hem niet. Hij heeft namelijk een reputatie, en zal moeten bewijzen dat die onterecht is.

Steve (26, Maaseik) en Stefhanie (20, Dilsen-Stokkem)De Limburgse Steve is Stefhanie’s eerste vriendje. Ze zijn al vijf jaar samen, en wonen in bij de ouders van Stefhanie. Sinds het begin van hun relatie zijn ze nooit van elkaar gescheiden geweest. Steve wacht al jaren om eindelijk eens met zijn vrienden te mogen gaan feesten. Stefhanie’s vurige, stiekeme wens is om ten huwelijk gevraagd te worden op het finale kampvuur.

Chris (24, Vilvoorde) en Katrien (23, Berchem)Chris en Katrien kennen mekaar anderhalf jaar, en zijn smoorverliefd. Ze willen bewijzen dat niets of niemand hen uit mekaar kan krijgen, ondanks het feit dat Chris in het verleden AL zijn vriendinnen heeft bedrogen.

Fre (28) en Nathalie (24) – De HaanFré en Nathalie zijn al zes jaar samen, maar drie jaar geleden ging Nathalie ernstig uit de bocht. Ze heeft Fré maandenlang bedrogen, en dat is hij nog steeds niet vergeten. Het vertrouwen is ver zoek, maar Nathalie wil op Temptation Island bewijzen dat ze Fré wél waard is.

ACTUEEL- Op vrijdag 20 februari gaf de Belgische televisiezender VT4 het startschot van het nieuwe seizoen van Temptation Island in discotheek Versuz te Hasselt. Een seizoen vol pittige beelden, bedrog en verleiding.

De feestgangers kregen de hele avond sneak previews op een groot scherm gepresenteerd. Waar het publiek de hele avond naar uitkeek, kregen ze echter niet te zien. Nadat de deelnemers van het realityprogramma een korte voorstelling hielden aan de ingang van de discotheek, trokken ze zich terug in de VIP-ruimte. Daar lieten de TI-koppels en vrijgezellen de wijn en het bier rijkelijk vloeien.

Nathalie, de partner van Fre, verzekert ons dat we ons aan pittige beelden mogen verwachten: “Aan de beelden te zien, hebben de mannen zich kostelijk geamuseerd in het resort. Bij de vrouwen ging het er dan misschien iets bescheidener aan toe, we hebben er de tijd van ons leven gehad.”

Kijkcijferkanon

Of het nieuwe seizoen van Temptation Island de moeite is? Vast en zeker. Stefhanie, de partner van Steve, denkt dat het programma een kijkcijferkanon gaat worden. “Temptation Island sleurt de kijker al vanaf de eerste aflevering mee in het spel van verleiden en verleid worden.”

Tim De Pril, die we nog kennen van het tweede seizoen van Temptation Island, is verrast dat zijn vriend Jurgen zich inschreef voor het programma. “Nochtans had ik hem gewaarschuwd, maar hij was vastberaden. Ik kan je beloven dat dit seizoen tien keer harder is dan ooit, temptation like never.”

Vrijdag is het Kick Off Party van…. Temptation Island. En voor diegene die niet zo goed Engels kunnen en naar een woordenboek willen grijpen om Kick Off op te zoeken: het komt erop neer dat het binnenkort weer Temptation Island is*!

Hét Temptation Island jaar met Gringo en zijn Siska heb ik moeten missen wegens stage in Italië, maar deze keer zal ik klaarzitten voor mijn televisietoestel hoor.

Olé! Ik keek daar altijd graag naar. Een beetje voyeurisme zit mij nu eenmaal in het bloed… ofzo. Ik bleef er zelfs speciaal voor thuis. Wat deze keer waarschijnlijk ook niet anders zal zijn.

*Temptation Island is een eiland met een exotisch resort erop waar hete vrijgezellen ervoor moeten zorgen dat koppels elkaar zullen bedriegen. Sounds like fun television, no?

Reality TV has been around for a surprisingly long time, with shows like Candid Camera, which filmed unsuspecting people responding to offbeat pranks, and Star Search, an ongoing competition that is partially responsible for the career of the Coors Light Twins. The genre truly gained a foothold, however, with the Writer’s Guild Strike of 1998. For a while there it looked like the American public might have to do without a constant barrage of TV programming and actually go outside for once and experience fresh air, but then someone suggested reality television as an option and the catastrophe was mercifully averted.

With Reality TV, you don’t need any of those pesky high-paid writers that you used to in order to knock out a script. You simply put a gym teacher, a housewife, and a serial killer together in the same place, and wait for the magic to happen. A gimmick is generally recommended, such as the group being trapped on a desert island, needing to eat more tarantulas than the other contestants, or convincing one person that they are on a different reality show and competing for $100,000, when in reality the whole thing is just a cruel hoax for the viewing audience’s enjoyment. That’s comedy gold!

Oh Brother!  If you’re a kept man, I congratulate you, but I don’t know how I feel about seeing just how well kept you are.  I guess I’ll get to make a real opinion about that in August when Househusbands of Hollywood debuts. 

The cast includes Tempestt Bledsoe (“The Cosby Show”) and husband Darryl M. Bell (“A Different World”), Jillian Reynolds (formerly Barberie, from “Good Day LA”), her husband Grant and former Los Angeles Dodger Billy Ashley, among others.

It’s another doozie from Fox Reality.  Should they layer it smack dab in between reruns of Temptation Island II then I suppose that will suffice to capture my interest initially.

I wonder if NeNe is a little nervous about the competition….
