Przymknąłem powieki, i szeroko otworzyłem siebie.
Miejsce pamięci, walki miedzy Turkami, a Ormianami. Pojawiła się tez kapliczka na zboczu góry. Zapytali, czy wierze w Boga. Uczynili znak krzyża, trzy razy. Po pół godzinie dotarłem do Vanadzoru.
Po krótkim spotkaniu z wolontariuszka z Polski, ruszyłem dalej. Wsiadłem do Lady z trzema panami. Dwoma młodzieńcami i jednym starszym.
Z średnią prędkością 20 km/h dotarliśmy do buforu.
Pytam zatem, сколько.

Do Kazbegi pragnę wrócić.

Zdjęcia wykonane przeze mnie aparatem analogowym; jakość: skan.

I squinted my eyes and opened myself wide. It was a wind in veins, not blood, that made me go further…

In the drowsiness of Saturday I set off. I left the town borders and instantaneously became a part of the mountainous landscape. I saw Terabithia in the distance and dreamt about reaching it.

A coming Moskvitch stopped at my request. Having got in the car I met a father with his son – carpenters from Gyumri. The older could make a geographical depiction of the location of Lehastan. The younger thought it is placed by the Black Sea. Passing between hills we encountered a monument in the open space of wilderness. The place of remembrance of the Turkish – Armenian War. A chapel on the mountain slope appeared. They asked me whether I believe in God and made the sign of the cross three times. After half an hour I reached Vanadzoru.

After a short meeting with a volunteer girl from Poland I kept going further. I got in Lada with three men – two youngsters and an older one. A winding road at heights and a sunny weather enabled me to focus attention on vivid autumnal contrasts. Suddenly, a large inscription, made on the hillside, emerged from afar: Jesus. When going down the road we got a flat tyre. I experienced the fastest change of the car wheel. It took the driver 5 minutes. Having passed through the Pushkin’s tunnel we came to the crossroads.

The closer I was to the border, the more I felt I was on the least frequented way to Georgia. At one point, the route I was travelling across stopped to resemble the road. The road full of potholes and lacking an automobile life, after I spent some time alone, was being attained from my passenger perspective. With an average speed of 20km/h we reached a buffer. The border crossing in Gogavan was alive only in the guards’ box, out of which television sounds were emerging. The further way from the border to Tbilisi identified with the forest routes of the Bieszczady mountains. My companions carried me to Bolnisi (50km far from Tbilisi). There, in the darkness of the night, I was noticed by a taxi driver who took me to Tbilisi for 5 euros. Seeing Terabithia was taking on shape. At the crack of dawn I left Piotrek, Anna, and Joanna’s apartment. Travelling by underground from the Rustaveli station I reached Didube. A bus station and a market in one where Sunday lacks sacrum. I found a route to Kazbegi: the expense 8 lari, the time depends on the way.

The Georgian Military Road is not only a miracle created by human hand, but also an inseparable part of the mystical shapes which are forming the mountainous Georgian landscape. Travelling through the sky, above the ground covered with snow, I got to the Stepantsminda (Kazbegi). Hearing only the wind, seeing only mountains, I was deafen by the calmness which controlled my heart, analogous to that brought by the prayer. The words of John Paul II : “In mountains, the chaotic noise of the city fades away, the silence of the unknown spaces reigns and helps human hear more clearly the inner echo of God’s voice” before the painting of the Mother, in the Tsminda Sameba (the Holy Trinity) church, came true.

At the bus station I was provoking potential hosts with my tourist appearance. An elder man at the wheel shouted if I was looking to find a place to stay overnight. So, I asked сколько. 15 lari without food, I agree on 20 with food included. I got in the car. We were going to a house placed on the hill passing cows grazing on the streets. In the yard I saw a young lamb. It was tamed and let me stroke itself. At home, I met a family members who visited each other in the Sunday afternoon. I made a sit at the table tasting a home – made vine. In the aura of kitchen muddle fruit cakes were baked. Their invaluable taste still remains in my memory. After having acquainted with the space where I was to spend a night I went on a reconnaissance around the village. Along the left side of the Terek River, on the way to Vladikavkaz, under the sky being covered with a darkness and revealing millions of stars, I was led by a windy guide. At that time it hummed a song, which I could see just behind the cliff…

There are places and non – places. We come back to a place. In non – place we are. I desire to get back to Kazbegi.

Photos are taken by me with an analogue camera; the quality: scanned.

I was extremely bored and couldn’t come up with anything Peter Pan so I decided to test this song on Jesse and Leslie as I have already made a Peter&Wendy video to this song. I think this fits Peter and Wendy far better somehow but since I made this I might as well upload this.

Jude died as well, same day, meaning that we only have one of our original rabbits left (Annie). He was a pretty good rabbit so that was also a downer. We were planning on breeding him to Tera and getting some german/french crosses but… so much for that. My mother put POE in with her the other night though. So maybe satin/french rabbits. They would have nice fibre.

So I was never really a big fan of this movie, but I was watching the ending of it on IFC (so it was English dubbed) and the voice actors made me laugh. Amung others, Howl was Christian Bale (mmm) and the flame dudge was Billy Crystal….that is so funny…some old fashioned actresses were in it too, like Jean Simmons and Lauren Bacall…its funny because you look up pictures of them and you get those fancy old black and white photos, coooolness…Also, the lil boy’s voice was done by that kid from Bridge to Terabithia, Josh Hutcherson

P.S. ANTHONY RAPP IS ON MY TV, I’M SOOOO EXCITED! He’s in this movie I’m watchin called Man of the Century…this movie just got WAY more exciting

He better be in this movie every second or I wont care much about it

Although he seems to be playing the exact same character, has a funky scarf and doesn’t want to sell out to the main stream news business
P.S. He’s a camera man, lolz

EDIT:

16 minutes into the movie and I’m afraid we’ll never see my dear again…he quit the paper that the main character works for *tear*

EDIT 2:

He’s back! My dearrrr, haha. I think he might be back again…he was only on for like 2 seconds but it gives me hope!

A friend on face book led me to this Yahoo question. Kat goes to a private, catholic school that ban

A friend on face book led me to this Yahoo question. Kat goes to a private, catholic school that bans a lot of books. Books like The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Bridge to Terabithia, The Picture of Dorian Gray and many more. So Kat runs a secret Library out of an empty locker.

How fraking great is she! Here’s her question she wrote in:

Is it OK to run an illegal library from my locker at school?

Let me explain.

I go to a private school that is rather strict. Recently, the principal and school teacher council released a (very long) list of books we’re not allowed to read. I was absolutely appalled, because a large number of the books were classics and others that are my favorites. One of my personal favorites, The Catcher in the Rye, was on the list, so I decided to bring it to school to see if I would really get in trouble. Well… I did but not too much. Then (surprise!) a boy in my English class asked if he could borrow the book, because he heard it was very good AND it was banned! This happened a lot and my locker got to overflowing with the banned books, so I decided to put the unoccupied locker next to me to a good use. I now have 62 books in that locker, about half of what was on the list. I took care only to bring the books with literary quality. Some of these books are:

>The Perks of Being a Wallflower
>His Dark Materials trilogy
>Sabriel
>The Canterbury Tales
>Candide
>The Divine Comedy
>Paradise Lost
>The Godfather
>Mort
>Interview with the Vampire
>The Hunger Games
>The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy,
>A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court
>Animal Farm
>The Witches
>Shade’s Children
>The Evolution of Man
> the Holy Qu’ran
… and lots more.

Anyway, I now operate a little mini-library that no one has access to but myself. Practically a real library, because I keep an inventory log and give people due dates and everything. I would be in so much trouble if I got caught, but I think it’s the right thing to do because before I started, almost no kid at school but myself took an active interest in reading! Now not only are all the kids reading the banned books, but go out of their way to read anything they can get their hands on. So I’m doing a good thing, right? Oh, and since you’re probably wondering “Why can’t you just go to a local library and check out the books?” most of the kids are too chicken or their parents won’t let them but the books. I think that people should have open minds. Most of the books were banned because they contained information that opposed Catholicism. I limit my ‘library’ to only the sophmores, juniors and seniors just in case so you can’t say I’m exposing young people to materiel they’re not mature enough for. But is what I’m doing wrong because parents and teachers don’t know about it and might not like it, or is it a good thing because I am starting appreciation of the classics and truly good novels (Not just fad novels like Twilight) in my generation?

Additional Details

More books I have:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Slaughterhouse-5
Lord of the Flies
Bridge to Terabithia
Catch-22
East of Eden
The Brothers Grimm Unabridged Fairytales.
…the list goes on.

I’ve recently been enchanted by the movie Bridge to Terabithia. I’m not going to go on a rant about how great I think it is, but I ordered the DVD, original book and movie companion book the day after I saw it, which expresses the gravity of my fondness for it (and my impulsive buying habits).

In addition to that, I did some research on the name ‘Terabithia’. I already wrote about this on the A Place For Us forums, but I thought I’d also post them here because I thought the results were rather interesting, and maybe Terabithia fans will come across it here (also, it’s a good enough reason to do a blog post). There’s also a treat for Myst fans at the end, so those of you who fall into that category; keep reading!

So let’s start our journey through the history of the name Terabithia. The author of the book on which the movie is based, Katherine Paterson, says on her website that, when she had nearly finished the book, she discovered that she probably unconsciously copied the name from the island called Terebinthia, from C. S. Lewis’ The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third (or fifth depending on which numbering convention is used) book in the Narnia series. In the book, a sickness on the island prevented Prince Caspian and his men from going ashore.

Interestingly, in Paterson’s book it is noted that Leslie, who named Terabithia, is very fond of Narnia herself. It’s probable that Lewis in turn got the name from the biblical terebinth tree. This is just one of the many biblical references and metaphors in the Chronicles of Narnia. The tree referred to as the terebinth actually exists, under the scientific name of pistacia palaestina. Note the Palastine reference for now.

Now for some lessons in etymology. The word terebinth originates from the Middle English terebinthe, from the Old French terebinte, from the Latin terebinthus, from the Greek terebinthos. Now the Greek suffix -inthos is used to refer to places (for example labyrinthos, place of axes; the first labyrinth was a palace full of axes).

Disappointingly, tereb does not bear any meaning in Greek, or any other language that I could find. However, it is an ancient name for a place now known as Tel el-Athrib, near Aleppo in Syria, now an archaeological site. Notice the Palestine connection here. In fact, there was once a part of Syria that was specifically called Palaestina; the Holy Land. The area of Aleppo is also said to be one of the oldest inhabited places on earth.

Going from these facts, the Greek terebinthos could mean “tereb-place”: the place Tereb. If this would truly be what the word Terabithia originates from, it might mean it is the Holy Land, as well as one of the earliest homes to man.

There is another interpretation of the name Terabithia. The Latin terra refers to earth, place or land, and there’s the English Bithiah, from Hebrew batya, meaning “daughter of god”. As such Terrabithiah or Terabithia is the land of the daughter of God. For those who have seen the movie or read the book, that should seem quite fitting.

The land of the daughter of God, the Holy Land, and the origin of man. I guess my work here is done. Of course I don’t really believe that these explanations are very plausible or intentionally crafted by the author or anyone involved, and there are a lot of gaps and guesses, but I still thought it interested that I ended up with these explanations.

Now for the part the Myst fans have all been waiting for. I went into the A Place For Us chat today and met someone who had played some of the Myst games and seemed to have been quite into it for a while. He told me a fun story, which I’ll quote here:

when we were kids we use to have this game where atrus would leav notes in the garden
and then we’d have to do what the notes said to save cathrine
it was good fun
i don’t think the puzzles i made up were very good though.
actually what i’d do is i had this tape recorder
because my voice was so high, i sounded nothing like atrus
so what we did was you know how those tape recorders have a slow thing
to slow your voice down
we slowed it down to make it sound deep, and it was so hilarious
so yeah, it was either a note or a recorded message, then then u had to go and find all these things in the park

I thought that was fun. Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!
