Change to our Referral Bonus

We are increasing our referral bonus to $500 of your annual tuition! This means that if you refer a new family to our school and they enroll, you receive a $500 discount off your child’s tuition for the school year (2012-2013). So, let’s say you’re an awesome referrer of ACS and you bring four new families to our school. That gives you $2000 off your annual tuition–wow! What a deal! Also, any alumni who bring new families to ACS will be rewarded with $250 CASH. If you have any questions about referrals, please e-mail Mrs. Brown: jbrown@achieverweb.org.

Events

-High School Extension Program Informational Meeting: We are “expanding” our campus by adding a high school extension program next year. We currently have an off site, online program. For next year, classes will still be taught online, but students will physically attend our campus. The curriculum we use is called Ignitia through Alpha and Omega Publications. If you are interested in learning more about this exciting program, you are welcome to attend our informational meeting TONIGHT, April 26th, from 6:30-7:30pm in room M-10 on the Middle School campus. -Teacher Appreciation Week: Is NEXT week, April 30th through May 4th. One of our parents, Danielle Hunt, is coordinating a luncheon for our teachers and staff. If you would like to donate items for this, click here to view the Jooner’s sign up sheet.

-Spring Showcase: The Spring Showcase is coming up in a few weeks. It will be on Thursday evening, May 10th, More details will be available next week.

Allergy Alert/Reminder

Please remember that preschool through first grade classrooms are PEANUT FREE ZONES. We have some students on campus with severe peanut allergies. We ask that you only bring in store bought goods for parties and the like, rather than home baked goods. Also, please be sure to carefully read labels of any food you plan to bring in to those classrooms. Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. The annual, preschool Spring Sing is TOMORROW Friday, April 27th at 7pm in the main auditorium of the church. Invite your family and friends; this will be an event you don’t want to miss! Did You Know?
It’s not too early to start thinking about high school. Did you know that our Middle School and Valley Christian High School have an admissions agreement? Students who complete 8th grade at Achiever are guaranteed placement at Valley if they maintain the required grade point average and display exceptional character attributes. If you have any questions about our agreement with Valley Christian, please contact our Principal, Julie Brown: jbrown@achieverweb.org.

8th Grade Graduation

Graduation is coming up soon! If you have any questions about the event, practice schedule, or dress code, Mrs. Walker is the staff person to contact: lwalker@achieverweb.org.

With the fourth quarter upon us, it’s time to start thinking about the 8th Grade Graduation. Typically, a slideshow has been shown of pictures that document the students’ time at ACS–from when they first started at Achiever until present. Now is a great time to gather pictures of the 8th graders (ACS related) and start sending them to our slideshow creator: Shawnda Wilson. If you have digital pictures, you can e-mail them to her at: Wilson.Shawnda@gmail.com. If you have a great deal of photos that would be too large of a file to send via e-mail, feel free to send them to the Middle School office on a USB or CD and write an attention to Shawnda (they will be returned to you). Anything not in digital format should be scanned and converted to a digital image. Please e-mail Shawnda if you have any questions regarding this request.

High School Extension Program

For the next academic year, we will be expanding our current Extension Program by offering an on-campus high school. Classes are all taught online through Alpha and Omega Academy, but students will be supervised and academically supported by ACS staff. We are in the process of finalizing the program description and have materials available by request. We are so excited for this new endeavor and can’t wait to see what God brings to our campus through this awesome program. Save The Date

We are having our first ever Middle School Social on Friday, June 8th, from 7-9pm. Only middle school students will be allowed to attend. The Middle School staff will be chaperoning the event. More details to come soon.

Tdap Requirement

All students entering into 7th grade will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster immunization (called “Tdap”) for school in the fall. Many students may have already received the vaccine and simply need to supply proof to the office, so check with your doctor or provider. Your child will NOT be able to start school in the Fall until you submit the documentation for the Tdap requirement to the school. There is NO grace period/extension to get the shot after school starts.

A Huge THANK YOU From the 8th Grade Class

The 8th graders had a blast on their Hawaii trip, just a few weeks ago. They wanted to let everyone know how appreciative they are of your financial support–from buying snacks in the office to Donut Fridays–they truly are thankful. We also wanted to let you know that Donut Fridays will no longer continue; however, there are still some snacks for sale in the offices. Thank you for supporting our 8th graders!

Terra Nova Testing

Terra Nova Testing, formally known as the Standard Achievement Tests (SATs), is next week, April 23rd-27th. Only Elementary and Middle School students will be taking these tests. Please help students to feel their best for testing by making sure they get enough sleep each night, eat a hearty and balanced breakfast, and get to school on time. If you have any questions about Terra Nova testing, contact the appropriate office.

-Talent Show Tryouts: To be eligible for the Talent Show Tryouts, applications (click here to see the Constant Contact and download one) must be completed and turned in to Danielle Hunt–daniellekhunt@gmail.com–TODAY. Tryouts will be held in the main auditorium of the church on Friday, April 20th, from 1-2pm. Parents, family members, and friends are welcome to attend.

-Special PTF Meeting: You should have received some e-mails regarding next year’s PTF Leadership Team. An informational meeting for nominees and other interested parties will be held next Tuesday, April 24th, in room 200 in the church building.
