… erwähne ich hier einmal ein kommerzielles Produkt. Warum? Weil es einen von mir lang gehegten Traum erfüllt: ein einfaches, praktisches Tonstudio für die Hosentasche. Schlicht mal wieder so ein Gadget, von dem ich in meiner Jugend nur träumen konnte. Never say that boys’ll EVER grow up! Die Rede ist vom Beaterator (die Werbesite ist, wie immer bei derartigen Produkten, unsäglich!)

Eine Playstation Portable besitze ich bereits, denn ich nutze sie – mit der entsprechenden Soft- und Hardware – als Navigationsgerät bei Autofahrten in unbekanntes Gelände. Dabei stellt sich das Gerät auch nicht ungeschickter an als vergleichbare Produkte. Meistens sind die Ansagen langfristig genug, dass es mir noch gelingt, rechtzeitig die Spur zu wechseln.

Spuren gibt es auch in der Klangspiel-Software – und zwar immerhin acht. Wobei die Klangabstimmung eine für diese Plattform beeindruckende Detailarbeit ermöglicht. Hier eine flugs gebastelte Hörprobe in Pentatonik, mit Audacity vom Exportformat .wav ins schneller ladbare .mp3 umgezaubert:

Wer rät, welcher Film mir die Schnellinspiration lieferte? Im Ernst: Leider ist auch das Klicken bei Spurende eine Original-Beaterator-Mitgift (aber das kennen wir ja auch aus der teuren Magix-Software). Das Schöne an diesem Spielzeug ist, dass die Melodie einfach und schnell in einem Sequenzer geschrieben werden kann, wenn auch nur in einer simplen aber funktionalen Symbolschrift an einer Displaytastatur, nicht in Noten. Dafür ist die Bedienung intuitiv und in den erkennbaren Grenzen kann durchaus Respektables gebastelt werden. Nun, ich glaube, das Dingelchen wird mir noch die ein oder andere Zugfahrt versüssen. No me suelen gustar demasiado los test, pero ante este no me he podido resistir. Con algunos datos sobre tu salud, como la frecuencia con la que te resfrias, o el ejercicio que haces semanalmente, calcula el tiempo que tardarías en convertirte en zombi, apartir del momento en el que sufres la mordedura.

Not sure what I will use this for but I wanted to give this a try.

Ikväll har Jag och Niklas varit ute och fotat. Vi tänkte att det skulle bli jättelätt att hitta en bra plats att genomföra våra fotoplaner på.. men så var inte fallet, åkte runt i bilen bra länge innan vi valde denna plats. Platsen var inte riktigt som vi tänkt oss men vi skulle bara prova hur det blev.. för att sedan åka ut igen då vi valt ut en bra plats. Gick i skräckens tema ännu en gång.. här är två bilder från kvällen.

It is the last day before Thanksgiving break for our senior, Emily.  She’s been studying for a Physics test, an exam she takes today.  Like most students in her class, she is dreading that hour of testing.  But then, who among us actually looks forward to taking tests?

I think back on my high school/college days and a great test taker I was not.  Writing papers, reading books, homework, learning new things I enjoyed and did okay at.  The tests, though, especially the math tests, scared me something fierce.  I remember sitting down to tenth grade geometry tests and totally blanking out–not being able to recall one darned thing, which wasn’t saying much since I never ‘got’ geometry in the first place.  I would do an internal freak and sit there and pray asking God to please help me remember something, anything.  Sad to say, I don’t recall any angel visitations or magical equations dancing before my eyes–geometrical illumination completely escaped me.  God was silent, I was paralyzed in mathematical darkness.  Low geometry test scores resulted (geometry was the very last math class I ever took, ever).  To this day I couldn’t explain a proof if my life depended on it…and I’m ok with that (really!). 

I wonder at real life tests, though, that God sends our way.  I wonder at the six months of my husband’s unemployment…was that a test?  Was that time (for me…I can’t speak for the rest of the family here) a time of revealing to me how much I’d learned in the previous years?  Was it a time where I had to not only know I could trust God to lead and provide, but a time when I had to actually trust God to lead and provide?  If so, I had test anxiety!

These past six months I vacillated about what the answers were to our conundrum.  The test question I swam in:

How do we manage to get through this time of uncertainty and financial struggle?  
a. does God want me working?  with short answer option: if so, what work does He want me doing? 
b. does God want me sticking with what I’m doing (giving my time away thru volunteer work and prayer)? 
c. does God want us to try to sell our comfy, beautiful home (at a loss) and move into a cheap apartment? 
d. does God want me to grab this sucker and make something happen in my own power/create income however I think best? 

Of course, everyone had opinions about which answer was correct.  I heard many suggestions from well-meaning friends and family.  But I sat in darkness about what God wanted me to do….I couldn’t hear His answer to the question.  I froze up, just like I did during my geometry tests, gritted my teeth and spun in my seat. 

I think part of the problem had to do with the fact that I’d had this particular test before, but in a different context: it was early in our marriage and we were flat broke and unable to pay our rent.  I looked to God for a rescue of sorts–I wanted Him to provide for our situation.  I wanted Him to show up on my terms.  It was a hard lesson and it revealed to me I had much to learn about God and His ways, it was kinda like a pre-test and I sucked at it.  I learned that God is not a sugar-daddy but a Father bent on helping me mature spiritually and taking ownership for my decisions in light of His will.   

So, here I was, 20+ years later, taking the test again with my previous test grade blaring through my mind.  “F”, I’m going to get an “F” on this one too!  Unable to relax and let His answer come, I began to wonder if I could ever know the answer.  The best I think I heard was “wait”…which left me with answer “b”, which remedied none of our financial issues and looked (on the surface) a heck of a lot like what we did twenty years ago.   Of course, I second guessed that answer and quickly started examining my motives to see if I was hearing another voice besides His.  Was I expecting a heavenly sugar daddy to show up on my terms?  Was I moving out of fear?  Was I afraid to work?  Was I in denial?  Was I moving from messages from my childhood (that women stay home and men work)?  etc.  The internal work was exhausting  and for a heck of a long time I internally jumped from answer “a” to “b” to “c” to “d” to “e” and back to “a” again.  They all looked plausible and every day Rich was out of work the choices loomed larger before me…the test would not go away, I had to stay there, check the answer I thought was God’s will and live with the consequences. 

With motives thoroughly examined and fears prayerfully faced, I still thought I heard “wait”….”Jeepers, what a crummy answer”, I thought, yet to choose another answer would have felt like disobedience, which (I’ve learned the hard way) is a much crummier way to go.  So, wait and stick with what I was already doing was my answer…even though I second guessed it hourly, it was all I got, so was all I could do in good conscience.  Before God I sat ready to accept the fallout of my decision…ready to accept the ramifications of what I perceived to be His Will for our life.  Still squirming in my chair I handed in the exam and am waiting for the test grade.

Ten days ago Rich (my husband) was offered and accepted a position that will float us pretty well financially and allow us to stay in our home.  In many ways prayers have been answered (thank YOU if you prayed for us!!!)…in many ways I sense my answer was pleasing to Him.  Yet, I’m not sure I aced this test.  But then maybe His tests aren’t really about acing…maybe they just reveal where we’re at spiritually.  Maybe they help us see how we’ve grown or withered in our relationship with Him.  It may be years before I get to see this test grade…until then I think it is probably prudent to quit sweating and squirming in my desk wondering how I did and get on with answer “b” until I hear Him say something else.

Le Film: Never go full retard !

Synopsis:

Quelques décennies d’histoire américaine, des années 1940 à la fin du XXème siècle, à travers le regard et l’étrange odyssée d’un homme simple et pur, Forrest Gump.

Critique:

Est-il encore nécessaire de présenter ce film, déjà devenu un classique du cinéma, 15 ans après sa sortie. Vainqueur de 6 Oscars en 1995, dont Meilleur Film, Meilleur Acteur principal, Meilleur Réalisateur, Meilleur Scenario et Meilleurs effets spéciaux (si-si, a ce sujet, on ne peut que vous conseiller le documentaire consacré aux effets spéciaux : Benjamin Button avant l’heure), rien que ca !

Un Scenario parfait, une interprétation parfaite de Tom Hanks, et des second rôles nombreux par le scripts, mais tous très bons. La musique, aussi bien originale, que les nombreux morceaux connus accompagne très bien cette épopée et au final, on ne sent pas le temps passer.

L’image: Un transfert de cet âge, c’est comme une boite de chocolat : on sait jamais sur quoi on va tomber…

Attention Spoilers !

Beaucoup d’attente pour cette sortie en Blu-Ray d’un des plus grands films des années 90, hélas, déception ! Paramount aurait pu travailler à la restauration de l’image un mois de plus, et on aurait tenu la un excellent transfert ! Ce n’est cependant pas le cas, et on navigue entre une image très bonne a mauvaise.

Au rayon du bon, voir du très bon en général: Colorimétrie, contrastes, couleurs de peau sont très bien rendus et on ne constate pas de DNR ou Edge Enhancement excessifs.

Comme exemple de très bonnes scènes, viennent a l’idée : Scène au Vietnam ou Forrest va récupérer ses compagnons : profondeur de champ, pas de bruit, couleurs et contrastes magnifiques. Idem lorsque Forrest sort du studio de TV et rencontre son Gary Sinise, ou encore une scène en boite de nuit après que Forrest ai nommé son crevettier.

Au rayon du pas bon : Le ciel en général, particulièrement lors de la scène d’ouverture avec la plume : il apparaît bien trop gris avec beaucoup de bruit, et on a l’impression que celui-ci scintille.

Certaines scènes en intérieur : Forrest attend sa mère dans le couloir lorsqu’elle plaide pour qu’il aille dans une école normale, beaucoup de bruit sur les murs en arrière plan.

Forrest et Jenny se promènent de nuit dans Washington, juste avant qu’elle ne reparte en Bus : Flou et bruité.

Jenny part de la maison familiale Gump pour prendre un taxi, après avoir passé la nuit avec Forrest : Image très floue, pire qu’un dvd upscallé.

Au rayon du moyen : Forrest sur l’estrade a Washington en train de s’adresser a la foule : ciel toujours gris, pas ou peu de détails sur la foule, et eau dans le bassin paraît statique. Mais plans moyen sur lui et l’estrade ainsi que colorimétrie exempts de reproches.

D’une manière générale, pas mal de taches de pellicule, pas noires et disgracieuses ou énormes, mais plutôt blanches et fines, mais assez pour êtres remarquées et venir gâcher l’expérience de visionnage.

Au final, bien qu’étant une (grosse) déception, notamment avec une appellation qu’on peut dorénavant qualifier de purement commerciale (après Gladiator et ce Forrest Gump) de « Sapphire », on ne saurait quand même recommander l’achat de ce Blu-Ray, tant il représente une marche supplémentaire par rapport aux sorties DVD’s et a fortiori VHS de cet excellent film, qui a tout de même désormais 15 ans !

Le Son: Une piste DTS HD MA 5.1 qui colle au film.

Pas de déception ici, étant donne la nature du film : beaucoup de dialogues, de moments de vie, mais peu de scènes d’action se prêtant a un déchaînement de votre home cinéma. Les voix sont parfaitement intégrées a la scène frontale, ne profitant pas uniquement de la centrale. Quelques effets d’ambiance se font sentir ici et la, mais c’est lors de l’utilisation de musiques, mais surtout lors de deux-trois scènes que la différence entre anciennes versions et celle-ci ce fait entendre

L’arrivée en hélicoptère au Vietnam, la première escarmouche au Vietnam et lors de la tempête en mer à bord crevettier. A ces moments-la votre installation se réveillera et vos voisins aussi, tant le caisson de basse est allègrement utilisé, et on se retrouve alors en plein milieu de l’histoire, avec les rotors qui fusent dans l’appartement, ou en pleine mer déchaînée !

Fredag møder vi klokken 09.50. Så skal vi have Geografi-test og Fysik-test. God, help me! Men så har vi ellers fri. I think.
