Daily Kos- by Kula2316

Thu Oct 30, 2008 at 01:47:18 AM PDT

Lots of reaction to Obama’s ad this morning, with most agreeing it was very effective, especially as it was followed by the first joint appearance between Obama and Bill Clinton.

Also, lots of polling out with I’m sure much more to follow later this morning. Plus news that Obama may be considering a late push into Arizona!

And, Larry Sabato offers his Election day predictions.

Richard Wolffe at Newsweek reports that the Obama campaign may be eyeing a late move into Arizona:

The campaign is now seriously examining a late surge into the state. That may include ramping up TV advertising, on-the-ground staff or even deploying the candidate to stop there. Obama is scheduled to make a Western swing late this week, making an Arizona visit possible.

According to Pollster.com’s averages, Arizona is a 6 point race in McCain’s favor, compared to Pennsylvania–McCain’s best hope of picking up a blue state–which is an 11-point race in Obama’s favor. That means Obama has more reason to travel to Arizona than McCain does to Pennsylvania, no matter how far-fetched it once seemed to try to win McCain’s home state.

Do it! Do it! This would make me a very happy Kossack indeed. The Pollster average for Arizona is far more favorable for Obama than it is for McCain in Pennsylvania. McCain is obviously worried about his home state, or else he wouldn’t have launched robocalls.

>>>MORE HERE<<<

Update: And the campaign has engaged:

It’s a desperate move, but we need to respond and keep our momentum going. If enough of you take the time to get involved and do your part, we could pull a real upset.

The way to do that is to talk to Arizonans face to face, and let them know the importance of their vote in this election. But we’ve only got 5 days left to do it.

Supporters like you have put us within striking distance. Now it’s time to pull off what no one expected.

Sign up and join in the final push to make history in this election:

http://az.barackobama.com/…

We’ve got a real chance now, but we can’t do this without you.

Thanks,

Reuters has the story. John Whitesides writes, “Democrat Hillary Clinton narrowly trails rival Barack Obama in Texas and the two are virtually tied in Ohio ahead of critical contests that could decide the fate of her presidential bid, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Houston Chronicle poll released on Sunday.” He continues, “Clinton, a New York senator and former first lady, has seen big poll leads disappear in both states over the last two weeks as Obama seized control of the Democratic race with his winning streak.” According to this article Obama is ahead in Texas 47 percent to 43 percent and they are virtually tied in Ohio with Obama at 46 percent to Clinton’s 47 percent.

On a lighter note take a look at the video ”The Democratic Messiah?“ if you don’t mind laughing at your own expense. Incredibly funny but really only complimentary to Kucinich supporters.

After the latest CNN poll showed Barack Obama up in Texas 50-46%, (which is a statistical tie because the difference is within the margin of error) a Rasmussen poll shows Obama closing the gap in Ohio. The newest poll, released today, shows Hillary Clinton leading 48-43%. Two weeks ago, Rasmussen showed Clinton leading by 14 points.

This tightening in Ohio may come from Obama framing Clinton as a past advocate of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was passed during Bill Clinton’s Administration. Only 16% of Ohio’s Democratic respondents regarded NAFTA as a good thing for the country, while 55% viewed the agreement as negative.

In Texas, Obama is benefiting from 80% of African American respondents supporting his campaign. While Hillary is leading among Hispanics, the lead is much less pronounced.

Once again it seems the more voters get to see and get to know Obama, the better he does in the polls. Both of these polls show that Clinton is not gaining any ground with debates as she hoped to do. It seems Ohio and Texas, if these polls are to be trusted, will not be the vital firewalls for the Clinton campaign. Bill Clinton deemed Texas a must win. So barring a miracle, Clinton will not have the justification to continue past March 5th.

Unconfirmed reports state that Clinton is considering hiring Mike Huckabee as an outside consultant, because Mark Penn heard he was in the “miracle business.”

Who knew. You mean all this politicking was the pre-race race? Nice to know we’re finally

Who knew. You mean all this politicking was the pre-race race? Nice to know we’re finally going to get down to business. So how did your favorite candidate spend the first day of the race?

Hillary did what any smart politician would do. She broke out the big gun. She took Bill to Iowa with her, and if anyone out there doesn’t think Bill Clinton could beat every assclown currently in the race, your dull normal credentials must be outstanding.

John Edwards received the endorsement of two labor unions…the united mine workers and the united steel workers. I’m a member of the United Steel Workers, and will end my political contribution to the union tomorrow. I will do everything I can to ensure that as few USW employees vote for this braindead piece of human waste as possible.

Ron Paul capped his big 3rd place finish in his home state with an announcement that his fans ruled the meeting, that he raised $100,000, and that as always Ron Paul was the only popular person there. Sometimes making the stroking gesture with your hand is enough, but at times like this you just need to say…what the hell ever. You have to love the spin control that this no hoper campaign has going on. It is rumored that at this time he is laying in a fetal position with his own fecal matter smeared all over his dessicated ancient carcass, sucking his thumb and moaning.

Duncan Hunter won in Texas. According to the Ron Paul crybabies he cheated by campaigning there, and actually beating his holiness Pope Ron Pius the I. Naturally Duncan will use this as an excuse to remain in a race he clearly has no hope of finishing better than 23rd in.

Barack Obama spent the day attacking Hillary for being experienced. I suppose if your experience level is still in the Lego’s phase, thats what you do. I’m not trying to make it racial or anything, but isn’t there a black democrat with a brain that he doesn’t take out and play with available?

I’m not sure what the rest of them did, but one can hope they hung out with their families and acted like normal people for the last time in what could be 9 years.
