A special thanks to the bug-town choir! Great job Herpes all….

The reason for my celebration is simple. I am here to honor both the cure seekers of the Itchy & Scratchy show and the readers who simply lust after all things STD, and have given myself and my blog – if not credibility, at least “click”ability.

For your convenience, I posted some handy graphs from my blog stats to visually show you what STDS have done for ME, Surveygirl46 – soon to be 47: I hope you can see this (Click on the pic and it will enlarge it in another screen for you)

The left side of the grid shows the date 7/30/09. The day I wrote the post on STD mania dating spreading like wildfire! I don’t know if it was “STD” or “wildfire” which did it, all I know is that this post continues to be a topseller – and I’m not even selling anything except for bullshit! My having so many STD (posts) on my blog has caused the clicks to rise to their skyhigh potential! This ONE STD POST (ONE!) has brought in 4,693 visitors since its birth on July 30th. God I LOVE AMERICA! And I love the STDiseasers, the Herpes Hottie Hunters. I love the cliques of clymeadeates and those sporting syphilLIPS – and in my eyes pubic lice has always been nice..

And let me tell you this… AMERICA wants its STDS – in all its many forms and variations. Just take a look at these graphs from today and yesterday!

And every day it goes on like this – the views, the clicks, the perverted desires for herpified peneye and the like.

I liked The Force Unleashed – but then again, it was Star Wars. It certainly wasn’t an all time great, and might have even fallen into the “I’d only get it if you can pick it up handy on eBay” category, but nonetheless, it was a nicely polished production. It was far too short, it has to be said, and far too linear; as expected. Its gameplay did get repetitive, but Ronin, the Unleashed engine, made this repetition, as the saying goes, “sweet as sugar”. So sweet was it in fact, that I was amongst those of us who actually shelled out for the 4-minute DLCs that were released. Between these extra levels, and the Ultimate Sith Edition, one gets the impression that Lucas is laughing all the way to the bank on this one; but why shouldn’t he? If I gave birth to the greatest entertainment franchise in history, I’d cash in on it too. Best of luck to you George, and as Douglas Adams so aptly put it, thanks for all the fish!

Anyway, just when it looked as though Unleashed had milked its last few squids, along came the announcement, earlier this week, that 2010 would see the release of The Force Unleashed 2. Am I excited? Sure, how could you not be? But I have my reservations. The trailer looks good, and it certainly suggests that the plot has thickened. The thing is, I can’t help but feel that this game is going to a collection of 8 – 12 more DLCs, and truth be told, killing rancors loses its appeal after the first 40 or so. Who is it at LucasArts that just keeps saying, “I know, how about another rancor. But this time, a bigger one!” Regardless of how big or tattooed a rancor is, it’s still a rancor; give us an acklay, or even a krayt dragon. But please, no more rancors. They really aren’t all that; even the gigantic ones.

I was never a huge fan of Starkiller. He’s not exactly the most original of characters as far as appearances go, bears far too much of a resemblance to the lovable Shay Given to be a credible Sith, and his Anakin-style emo personality often had me touting for the rancor.

But hey, these are slim pickings, and if The Force Unleashed 2 is even marginally better than its predecessor, we should be in for an enjoyable game. Now, Mr Lucas, how about a word on Battlefront?

LucasArts recently announced the new “Sith Edition” for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

LucasArts recently announced the new “Sith Edition” for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. At first, it sounded like it would be a basic repackaging of TFU but with available DLC included. As the rerelease was further explained, however, it became known that a new level would be in the game and this level would only be in the “Sith Edition”. Past TFU DLC has been lackluster, but this level would take place on Hoth and feature a battle against Luke Skywalker, essentially bringing closure to the game’s dark side ending. Oh, and the game, according to Amazon, will be retailing at $36.99, a full $11 higher than the original.

This is a glimpse of how “Game of the Year” editions can be used in a negative way. With TFU, the hype and interest in the game was so high that it became the fastest-selling Star Wars game in history at 5.7 million worldwide. Basically, a whole mess of people bought this game when it came out and in the subsequent months. What did they get? A pretty good, but flawed, game that seriously messed with canon and ended way soon with its “what-if” – scenario. Now, a year later, we can finally see the end to that scenario, but we’ll have to buy the game all over again? That’s not right. It’s like giving the finger to the customer and baiting them at the same time, a practice that has become increasingly common in regards to DLC. Now, LucasArts could be using the Hoth level as a short-term incentive to buy the “Sith Edition” and could very well release it as DLC further down the line. This would make sense and be acceptable, thus rendering this article useless. If, however, LucasArts decides to keep this exclusive and neglect those who pushed the game to its success, then this still stands.

Awesome, but it is awesome enough for another $11?

Now I’m a huge Star Wars fan and I thought the dark side ending opened a whole range of possibilities. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who thought of Obi-Wan and Luke confronting the Apprentice (apparently the people at LucasArts did). Saying that, I’m not sure if I’ll buy this game or not. On one hand, it offers the chance to finally see “what-if”, but on the other, it represents everything wrong with “Game of the Year” editions and exclusive content to rereleases in general.

What do you all think? Is LucasArts doing a disservice to its fans? Or are they just trying to entice new buyers and those who already sold their copy? Have you thought about this at all or did you already squeeze out all the enjoyment you could from TFU? Leave comments.

Sometimes it’s only your point of view the determines whether or not something is Totally Fucked Up. This TFU Friday it’s up to you to decide whether or not the stories are Totally Fucked Up or totally cool.

First is “Internet sensation” Clare Werbeloff who gave a funny account of a shooting in Sydney’s Kings Cross. Some call here a bogan, some even call her a fake. Check it out for yourself

And then there’s Josko Risa, currently running for mayor of the Croatian town Prolozac. The slogan for his openly corrupt campaign is “All for me, none for you.”

And thanks to Nick for pointing me to that one!

And finally there’s my “friends” at The Taboo Group who previously sent me Chuck and are now sending me mutilated Barbie heads in the mail.

I’ve just come back from some holiday travel. Felt good to get out, but of course I’m happy to be home now…airports and plane rides really wear me down. Not sure what happens, exactly — I just get kind of burnt out. On everything. Can’t even play a game. My Sony PlayStation Portable pulled movie duty the whole way to and from Salt Lake. And the Nintendo DS didn’t even leave its case.

Which isn’t to say I don’t use those systems; each of them runs some great games. But both are (at least presumably) designed for journeying. So why is it I’m not using them when I’ve got to travel someplace?

Over the course of my trip, I saw one PSP and maybe six or eight DSes. Most of the Nintendo machines appeared to be running Sudoku in some form or fashion. The PSP looked brand new, and the guy who owned it was presumably just tinkering, though he did have a copy of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed sitting unopened beside him.

All of this left me wondering where we do our handheld gaming. In thinking back, I’d have to say that most of mine takes place just before bedtime, and even then only sporadically. So what I want to know is:

Do you own a portable gaming system?

If so, when and where do you play it?

Are games its primary application, or do you generally use it as a mobile internet device, portable media player, telephone, or the like?

I beat this game two days after it came out. I think that says volumes about how good the game is! I

I beat this game two days after it came out. I think that says volumes about how good the game is! I popped it into my PS3 and just couldn’t stop playing, I was hooked. That said, the game isn’t perfect. It has its fair share of bugs, but overall they did little to detract from the game. The Force Unleashed is actually hurt more by other things, actually. Yet, while the game is flawed, I feel it is a must-have. If you don’t have it yet, stop reading and go get it!

I’ll start off with the length of the game. It is short. Very short. I couldn’t have put more than 15-20 hours into my first play through the game.* However, like so many things, a good length for a game is subjective. Maybe 15-20 hours sounds perfect to you. It is funny because the main reason the short length bothered me is because I didn’t want it to end. It is just really good. And it does a good job of “unleashing” the Force, making you feel powerful and doing things we haven’t seen in a Star Wars game, or any game, before. I won’t say too much on that because I found one of the more exciting things in the game was finding out for myself all the cool things you can do with the Force.

The playground feel of the game is great, and indeed you can manipulate a huge amount of what is on the screen with the Force. But, and perhaps this is just nitpicking, the disappearance of bodies, debris, and even hulls of things like AT-ST’s was a source of annoyance for me. They disappear seconds after being killed or being broken, and I always find that to be very jarring.

In fact, comparing TFU to Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast for the PC, I don’t think it quite stands up to it in terms of overall quality and gameplay. It lacks gameplay polish and things like length, puzzles, dismemberment, and corpses that stick around for more than a second. Still, TFU continues to impress because while there are faults, there are so many things to redeem it of those faults. One huge thing is how beautiful the game looks. Sure, it is HD and all that – but beyond the graphics is the art of the game. The worlds are just beautiful and meticulously designed and detailed. It is wonderful to just sit there and look at, well, everything.

The biggest thing the game has going for it, though, is the story. The story really is hands down the best thing you’ll experience when you play this game. It links together Episodes 3 and 4, and it is very nice to know what went on between those two movies. The plot is always compelling, with many twists and changes in direction to keep you on your toes and interested. You rarely know what is going to happen next, and it is nice to be surprised so often in a game. I wish I could say more, but I don’t want to spoil anything. Suffice it to say the story is stellar.

There’s also a lot to keep you going back, and in fact there are two endings (one canon, one not) – so make sure you do both! I’ve started replaying it on the hardest difficulty setting (and boy is it hard!), but even with my original game file there is a lot to go back to. You can replay each level with your new force powers, outfits, and lightsaber crystals. And what’s more, you can continue to level up and unlock all the force power ranks if you like. I’ve found delight in uncovering hidden Jedi holocrons I missed the first time through – those shining yellow cubes that contain experience, crystals, outfits, or points to allocate to force powers, moves, or stats. What will really keep you playing after you beat the game, though, is the playground feel to it. You can always think of some new and interesting way to approach a level, win a battle, or toy with your enemies. I think it is important for a $60 game to have replay value, so this is a big plus for me and probably one of the biggest reasons why it is a good buy, instead of just a good rental. It’s a worthy game to add to your library and a worthy addition to the Star Wars saga.

So while it definitely has its faults, this is an incredible game that I’d recommend to most anyone. It is a flawed jewel, like so many of today’s big games. But unlike many of today’s big games, there’s more than enough in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed to redeem it of its faults. Play it!

*Update: I just noticed where it tells you how long you’ve played. It says 11 hours. Now considering I’ve gone back and replayed several levels, it probably only took me 8-9 hours to beat the game. A great game, but short.

Realizing how short it is has let me take off my Star Wars fan boy beer goggles for just a moment. It just blows me away that they could take years to make something, hype it out of the universe, and then release an 8 hour game with bugs and frame rate drops. Fortunately the story blows me away, too. I guess I’m a sucker for Star Wars.

To a Star Wars fan The Force Unleashed is finger lickin’ good. For everyone else it is likely best left as a rental, a really short-lived but enjoyable-while-it-lasts rental.

Star Wars. The longest running and most successful Sci-Fi series of all time is back and ready to grab your $60 with THE FORCE UNLEASHED. The game really wants you to buy it. There has been lots of hype, and the game does not live up to it. This game has problems out the ass. Thankfully, they easy to overlook and are never demtrimental your gameplay experience.

Back several years ago LucasArts said that they has a new Physics engine called “Euphoria” and dazzled the public with some flashy demos. This engine was originally designed with Star Wars in mind, but other games have and will pick it up and impliment it. (Eg GTA4) In the game, THE FORCE UNLEASHED (TFU) this engine is there, but you will never really notice it after the frist couple levels. The gameplay starts of slow, giving you the chance to play around with grip, and have stormtroopers plee for thier lives as you mercilessly smash them into boxes. This is incredible fun, but the game does not stay like this. It tries to become a fast set action game with steller combat. Unfortuanatly, this is not what TFU is good at. Most of the time you will find yourself hiding behind a corner, and wating for you Energy to recharge you can hit the AT-ST again with your lighting power.

The story is really good. It fits in perfectly with the classic trilogy. I would say more but, I really do not want to spoil the story because it is really one of the only good things this game has going for it. You start the game as Darth Vader, in one of those evil power preview type levels, just like the beging of Assassins Creed. After you throw some wookies off a bridge, and fight a Jedi…. I will stop there. You enter the Second level as Starkiller, Darth Vaders secret Apprentice. You must go into a Imperial Shipyard and kill a Jedi, named Kota. You advance through various levels of the shipyard until you reach him. This is your first taste of the punishingly difficult boss battles. You have to hit them with various attacks, until you get thier health down. From there, you get to enjoy a Quick Time Event (QTE) where you can never mess up. The final result to all of the boss battles is really bad ass, but getting to the final result can be more of a challenge than it needs to be.

Yes, you get to do that.

Did I mention this game is hard? Well, it is really really hard. You would think that being an all ass kicking force user some guys in armor would not stop you. Guess again. There are several types of bad guys from Basic storm troopers to Rancors. As I said, the boss battles are really hard. Namley one towards the end of the game that is going to make you go insane. Here is a friendly hint about that battle. Force Repulse = Friend. So if you can get by the crazy hard difficulties, the boss battles provide a exciting and fulfilling end to a level; leaving you with lots of satasfaction.

There is a weird Meta-RPG aspect of this game. You get force points (how Im not sure) that bring you closer to level ups. When you level up, you get to decide how to spend these points. The player can upgrade force powers, increase his health, force enery and get new attacks. The only attack you really need is X X Y Y which turns your saber into a giant stick of death and all enemies will go running. Except that doesn’t work in boss battles. You can also upgrade your lightsaber by adding new crystals to it that give it new powers, like draining health when you attack, better defense etc. There are other crystals that change the color of your lightsaber. Cool, but pointless.

The graphics look good, but they do leave room for improment. The force powers look realy cool once you get them maxed out. Lightning especially. The cut scenes might be prerendered, but that is not for sure. They look like they could exist in engine, but again, not for sure. Annimations are smooth, but if you look very close, you can see that sometimes the lightsaber is not always in contact with the apprentices hand.

You get the usualy host of characters in the game. Vader, the Emporer, Leia, Bail Organa. There are some characters that come back that I could swear died at the end of Epidsode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Starkiller has a love interest in this game, named Juno Eclipse. Shes a large chested british space pilot who drives around The Rouge Shadow, Starkillers personal transport. Oh, and Darth Vaders voice acter sucks.

This is a short game. I think I beat it in about 7 hours. But, if there was more than that much time, this game would have been very hard to keep playing. Unless you really love Star Wars enough to play this again, replay value is limited. There are more achievements to collect if you want to play through it again. There are two endings, only one of which really makes sense with the rest of the Star Wars story. The other makes you think, “Wait, what the, that can’t be right?” Paralel universes I guess.

Final Thoughts:
Star Wars The Force Unleashed provides a great story and some exciting gameplay if you are willing to over look some flaws. I highly recomend that anyone with a love for Star Wars and an Xb360/PS3 should rent this to just enjoy the story. Rent, don’t buy.

Review AINDA HOJE. Sim, é uma promessa.
