I’ve been playing a lot of EVE recently and I realized what the real experience is: Money, ISK, the Inter Stellar Kredit- or more commonly known as Icelandic currency. The more you have of it the better of you are in-game right from the beginning. Unlike a lot of other MMO’s money can become somewhat ridiculously useless but that’s because there’s no reason to use it because you can beat the best with skills and no cost. Whether this builds into the perfect game- I don’t know. But being able to come back for free is a big deal. Money could be used as a reason to not die thus making you more cautious and focus on gold rushing so you can have more than them so you can keep dying and they can’t. The real death of the perfect game would cost you the most sought after achievement in multiplayer games: power. As you keep dying and losing money, someone who isn’t will be taking your things and growing stronger from others in your absence or killing you again. So to counter this we have economies, those of which will give the weaker a chance to gain a foothold and skyrocket above the ones below them so they can have more power.

Which is where the Player Arena comes in.

Not an arena like some, where things are run by NPCs, but rather by players. Even the building and the market of it and the types. Its basically the Jousting Arena of video games. Hell. Even people can watch.

Welcome to Fight Club.
