Now I don’t know whether all of you are acquainted with Iqbal’s absolute masterpiece UTHO MERI DUNIYA KE GHAREEBON KO JAGA DO or atleast ever have read it somewhere but rest assured,it is one of his most radical and revolutionary poems, not to mention one of his most famous ones. Now I will be the first one to admit that I am not HIS biggest fan,not by a long shot, since I am more inclined towards FAIZ -the one and only (and No HAMMAD!!!! I repeat,I am NOT A COMMUNIST!!!!!!! Okay) but even I have to admit that the poem always gives me a new…..let me see….oh yeah…a new purpose and I always admire Iqbal more and more everytime I read it.

Until one day I stumbled upon this absolutely breath-taking PARODY of one of my favourite poems.I read it and I cried so much that I can not even explain it in words. It seemed that some sort of flood gates had opened and all that frustration which i had repressed in my mind for so long escaped through my eyes all of a sudden. The satire, the irony, the sheer anguish and the love of the motherland that this poem carries is mind blowing. And it might strike you as an odd and a BLASPHEMOUS thing to say but this poem has not only surpassed Iqbal’s poem in greatness,it has blown it out of this stratosphere.

Now you read this and tell me that it doesn’t bring tears into your eyes.

Iqbal Teray Des Ka Kya Haal Sunaaoon!!!!!!!!!

And if this doesn’t make you teary eyed,I don’t know what will.oh and by the way, you should also check with your physician about the black hole in your chest in place of a heart. No KIDDING!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!

“I tell you emceeing ain’t for you.”-Posdonous, “Supa Emcees” You know

“I tell you emceeing ain’t for you.”-Posdonous, “Supa Emcees”

You know what breaks my heart? People oblivious to their lack of talent. Especially those who want to be in the music biz. It’s not rocket science. We know that for every 10,000 MySpace rapping hopefuls, only 1 will see a “deal.” Or even rock a show. Or even have over 100 fans. Now, you may say “What about underground emcees, they get no love?” This is true. But the reason why those 9,999 others won’t make it is because there is a 99% chance they are wack. You might use terrible rappers like Soulja Boy and others having a deal as an example, but that my dear readers that is a “gimmick.” They have the ability to influence a certain demographics of tweens, fake thugs and idiots to buy their albums. Or you can just call it selling out.

So back to my original comment. I had a conversation with some friends of mine during finals. One of them commented on what a great rapper I would be. No, I would not. I believe that great emcees are born or they are born with the ability to work towards being a great emcee. I might have a good ear for music but when it comes to actual wordplay, flow, cadence…I don’t have it. I’d be on the same level as Plies. Possibly lower, because he actually has a couple of hits. It is a true dilemma. I see some rappers who will work into their old age trying to be halfway decent and it just doesn’t work out. Is it sad? Is it heartbreaking? Truly, it is. But is it expected? Of course.

Then you have those young emcees who do everything right besides actual emceeing. They know the history front and back, they listen to the dopest artists and know everything about them. They put in work and grind day and night, not resting until December 32nd. But alas, they are still terrible rappers. They might improve, then they might not. Sooner or later, they are 28 years old, complaining how they never got a chance because they were too real. No, it’s because you’re too wack. I applaud you for being a real hip hop head, but that’s all you are when it comes to this music, man. Sometimes, you just gotta be a spectator instead of trying to get into the game.

25th of June 2009—The Day The Music Died Michael Jackson gives the world and his fans another

25th of June 2009—The Day The Music Died

Michael Jackson gives the world and his fans another “THRILLER”.Only this time no one’s dancing. The king of Pop is no more.Probably the most influential and unarguably, the most famous music artist of all time has died today.Today is a dark day, probably the gloomiest day in recent music history.

The Greatest Performer To Ever Live

As a kid growing up,I used to watch him, admire him and idolize him so hearing about his death felt as if a part of my childhood has died.It doesn’t matter whether you love him or you hate him, there’s no denying the fact that the impact he had on every music fan’s life was unprecedented.Such was the magnitude of his impact that even a random person who is not even a casual music fan, in the streets of a village of Pakistan would know who Michael Jackson was. From “The Gloves” to “The Moonwlk”,he literally shook the foundations of the music industry, totally changed its landscape and single handedly revolutionized the pop genre.

MOONWALKER

Yes he had his demons. In fact he spent his whole life fighting those demons.Yes he did a lot of crazy stuff which hurt his reputition a lot but his fans never deserted him and still remained loyal to him which is a testimony of his hard work and commitment to his fans and his profession.Critcize his personal life all you want but who can deny that whenever that man stood on that stage, everyone knew that he was gonna steal the show. You can always feel the electricity in the air whenever he performed.

BAD

He was an inspiration to tons of mainstream artists both in America and worldwide. If it wasn’t for him there wouldn’t have been any Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears just to name a few.I hope that he gets remembered for his extraordinary talent and his enormous contributions to pop music and pop culture rather than the scandals and controversies which always surrounded his career and personality.I sincerely wish that the haters and the nay-sayers can look past his “mistakes” and appreciate his music and legacy for a change. Now there might be another Madonna in the future. There might be another Bryan Adams.Hell, there might be another Elvis. But there will never ever be another Michael Jackson.

On closing notes I would like to say,

“THANK YOU, MICHAEL.Thank you for the memories”.

And I hope that as I am typing these letters,Michael Jackson would be “MOONWALKING” his way through heaven.

Rest In Peace

Michael Jackson—gone but not forgotten

In the memory of MICHAEL JACKSON

A long, long time ago…
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And, maybe, they’d be happy for a while.

But february made me shiver
With every paper I’d deliver.
Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldn’t take one more step.

I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride,
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died.

And in the streets: the children screamed,
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed.
But not a word was spoken;
The church bells all were broken.
And the three men I admire most:
The father, son, and the holy ghost,
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died.

And they were singing,
“bye-bye, miss american pie.”
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, “this’ll be the day that I die.
“this’ll be the day that I die.”
