Given that our climate is somewhat erratic (sun today, hail yesterday!), I’m still not ready to put away my heavy-duty body moisturisiers; dealing with dry, scaly skin seems to be the bane of my life. That said, I find many body butters are just too heavy for my skin, so I tend to use them sparingly. Struggling with trying to find the solution for my confused skin, I thought I’d try a body oil for a change.

Many on the market are formulated with petrochemical derivatives (which goes in baby oil for example and is often labelled “mineral oil”). Trying to avoid these nasties , I had a look around to see what’s new, available and most importantly, affordable!

The new range of Beautifying Oils by The Body Shop come in a variety of fragrances, such as Mango, Satsuma, Coconut and Olive. They contain coconut and sweet almond oils (as a base), along with a host of other natural ingredients (such as marula oil) - depending upon which one you pick.

They are also multi-purpose and can be used on the hair and face, as well as the body. I tried the Mango and the Shea versions…

Mango has a really refreshing fragrance! It really lifts my mood. It’s also quite subtle and doesn’t interfere with any other fragrances you might wear; Shea has a very light fragrance that is barely detectable, and so would be great for sensitive skins.

You need the smallest amount in the palm of your hand to transform the skin on your legs (and arms for that matter!) into sheeny silk! It’s instantly absorbed and leaves behind no greasiness. This will be BRILLIANT in the summer, when (and if!) I’m brave enough to wear a skirt without tights (Gasp! NO? Really?!). I’ve not tried this oil on my face or hair yet, but I will attempt both with caution as both are very oily already!

If my reviewed performance of this oil hasn’t already piqued your interest, you’ve not heard the best bit! Currently they’re on special offer and only cost £6.75 (normally they’re £9 – which still won’t break the bank, considering how little you need), so I suggest getting in there now as once you’ve smelt the whole range, you won’t be able to leave with just one!
