I was in and out of the store in like 7 mins :T
It was all the time I had to go there…so I picked up two foundation brushes (which I have been in love with since they first came out! But never bought cause I just couldn’t justify $26 for a brush), and a Blender Brush.

I had the intention to gift the foundation brush, and the blender, but might keep the blender…we will see XD

I bought these during their one day Any 3 items for $30 that happned for us Canadians this past Friday November 27, 2009.

A lot of people were buying massive amount of things, and I was VERY tempted to buy all the Shimmer Cubes (I almost did too, they were in my basket…until I knew I couldn’t afford to buy them all :T). It was a GREAT deal, so it was a great snag for me.

I also bought the Love Your Body Card, which is $10, and seeing as my birthday is coming up in a few months, I figured that I can redeem my $10 in my birthday month soon (thus justifying, and solidifying my reasons to buy the card XD)

Anyway the LYBC is used as a reference for size.

The Foundation brush comes with its own case, which I thought was a neat idea. Anyway the reason why I wanted it so bad?? It is RIDICULOUSLY SOFT!!! Will have to hope that it stands up to washing and wear, but for now, I’m happy I got to buy it.

Did you grab anything awesome during the sale? (I do regret not getting their Body Butters…but I have so many lotions right now…)

I thought I should mention, that as of two weeks ago, Pharma Plus/Rexall have started selling LA Art Deco Polishes for $1.99!!
Unfortunately though, I have gone to 5 stores, and have YET to see them, but will update when I do. Might be like the ELF, though they are advertised, will take a few weeks for them to actually start stocking them in their stores. Which sounds stupid, cause if its advertised, it should be stocked right? Ah well, at least we have another alternative to buying online, and from Forever21

I’ve seen the Art Deco polishes in a display at the College and Bay Rexall a week or two ago? I think I’ve seen a bigger selection at F21 though, and they’re priced $0.19 cheaper there.

I had didn’t realize that it was $1.80 at the F21, but if you spend a minimum of $10, you do get Airmiles points from Pharma Plus, so really depends on what you like (Recently Airmiles has been a new collecting item of mine…and have been trying to get bonus ones wherever possible )

The Body Shop Total Energy Pulse Point Balm – jeg kan med hånden på hjertet si at dette produktet faktisk funker! og det er en drøy statement fra meg, som den skeptiske personen jeg er.

Jag brukar införskaffa mig en adventskalender varje år. Inte så att jag med ett barns spända förväntan bockar av dagarna fram till julafton och tomtebesöket, utan för att jag numer brukar ha ett par dagar ledigt för vänner, familj och framför allt mig själv.

Någon gång har det varit en med chokladpraliner, men det var kul de första två dagarna. Sedan tröttnade jag på en chokladbit till morgonkaffet och det slutade med att jag vittjade hela kalendern på en och samma gång en sömnig söndag i soffan. J’ai pris soin de moi !

- Masque purifiant pour le corps à l’argile (The Body Shop) : je dois avouer que c’est la première fois que j’offre un masque à mon coooorps ! Celui-ci, à base de wasabi, d’algues et de boues de la Mer Morte, procure une sensation de chaleur très agréable à l’application.

- Beurre corporel à la fraise (The Body Shop) : j’adore l’odeur de ce soin cocoon ! Seul bémol, il laisse la peau plutôt grasse… A moins que ce ne soit moins qui en applique trop ?!

- Baume ultradroux pour les pieds (Rituals) : ce baume à la menthe chinoise et à la mandarine dégage une odeur très agréable. Idéal pour se faire masser les petons !

Festive fun and shopping at the Body Shop Christmas Fayre!

For the first time ever, I will be displaying and selling my range of handcrafted crystal jewellery, inside the christmas marquee – at the Body Shop Christmas Fayre.

The Fayre is on Saturday 5th December 2009, from 11am until 5pm – at the Body Shop Headquarters, Watersmead, Littlehampton BN17 6LS

Todd Carty, star of Eastenders, The Bill, and Dancing on Ice, will be opening the Christmas Fayre at the Body Shop headquarters in Littlehampton on Saturday 5th December.
The event kicks off at 11am with the grand opening at the Trading Post and will be filled with fantastic Christmas delights!

Entry is £1 for adults, and the kids get in free.

The festive fun includes a Giant Christmas Market, housed in a huge heated marquee at the Trading Post, with Father Christmas, a Wii competition and Body Shop products. There will be hot food available, plus mulled wine, coffee and mince pies. For the kids there will be a carousel, chairoplane and craft area – plus perfomances from the Sussex Tornadoes, Razzamataz, Littlehampton bands, the Edwin James Choir… plus loads more.

Thanksgiving foods good for the face

Om jag hade en rik pojkvän så skulle jag tvinga honom att köpa denna julkalender från The Body Shop till mig. Men nu har jag ju inte det tyvärr. Så jag får nog ta och köpa en vanlig chokladkalender till mig själv eventuellt. Brukar få Kinder’s julkalender av mamma, men nu ska jag förmodligen inte hem innan jul så det blir det inte i år.

My son ‘88 was so thrilled when he got a job recently. He is a DJ and doing very well but not getting paid very well yet. He looked for a long time because there are not many jobs out there. We live in a small town and opportunity’s are few and far between. It was not a great job, but it was a job and it would pay his bills until the DJ-ing takes off. He had to be interviewed twice and a third time on the phone. He was told he had the job and he should come in for orientation at the end of the week. No problem, right! In the meantime they asked him to come in and work half a day without pay because their computers were down and they couldn’t file his paperwork until later. He wanted the job so he said okay, even though I told him it wasn’t legal. During the interview they had asked him some very personal questions like sexual orientation and did he have a girlfriend that would object to him working with women. He bought the clothes they told him he would need and worked the pay-free day. He was excited to start work in a few days. He knew he had a lot to learn but they said he would learn everything in training once he started. The day before he was supposed to start the manager called him and said that it wasn’t working out and that there wouldn’t be time to train him, that because of the holidays they would be too busy. She un-hired him. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

This is the part where I name names. The retail store where he should be working is “The Body Shop”. They don’t have time to train him to rub lotion on customers. They don’t have time to train him to do makeovers. They. don’t. Have. Time. Well if she didn’t have time why did she hire him in the first place. What about his time. What about the other interviews he turned down because she hired him. What about the money he spent on clothes he no longer needs. What about the half day he worked for free. This whole thing is a big pile of steaming elephant crap as far as I’m concerned. I don’t get it. How could someone be so damned unprofessional. How could someone hurt my kid with so little regard. He’s a grown man but I’m still his Mother and I would like to take her out behind the woodshed and throw down. I am one of the most non-violent people I know but you mess with my kid and I swear I will take you out if I get the opportunity. Now he is back looking for a job but most of the seasonal work has already been hired so it doesn’t look good. Thank you Body Shop. Thank you heartless, should be fired, bitch of a manager for un-hiring my son after wasting his time for 2 weeks. Thank you for your holiday spirit. I know one place I won’t be shopping this year……. say it with me “The Body Shop”

I love The Body Shop seaweed range for combination and oily skin.

My face is a mixture of oily and normal skin, or combination in short. The t-zone can be very oily at times and the cheek area is normal. Thus, TBS recommend I use this range.

Previously I tried the Vit E range and it is too rich for me, cause my skin is not dry or lack of moisture. Whenever I wake up, my face will be very shiny. I went back to TBS and they told me that Vit E is not suitable, so they asked me to use the Seaweed range. So far no problem.

After months of using it, I have no issues and my skin condition improves. My pores are minimised and less visible.

I recommend those who wants to try this range (provided your skin is combination or oily), get the deep cleanser and the toner.

When using the cleanser, leave it for about 30 seconds before rinsing off. And apply toner after you pat dry your skin. The fragrance of the seaweed will relax your face.

Newly opening in 87 Mac thi Buoi street, District 1 is (as far as I know) the first official Body shop in Vietnam (or at least Saigon, correct me if i’m wrong) they will have all their usual stuff on sale. Right now the shop isn’t finished yet, but a giant poster is advertising it’s presence ( photo above is proof) No word yet on when it is opening, but the sign looks official and I’m sure all the ladies are exited about the long awaited arrival of the body shop in Saigon.

I ALWAYS love the weekends. Besides the welcome break from school, it gives me free time to catch up on beauty procedures that may (absolutely were) neglected during the week. I am able to do my weekly clay facial mask, a deep conditioning of my hair, and do all those little extras that seem like tedious addenda to an already busy weeknight, but on a weekend reveal themselves to be absolutely necessary parts of my maintenance routine. Well, this weekend while at home, I used my exfoliating wash and decided to share the magic of Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with you! I don’t exfoliate more than once a week or every other week, because I have combination skin so it dries out my skin if I do it too frequently. (Also, I use The Body Shop Face Brush from time to time, and too much blood circulation and abrasion on my skin would be a crisis – especially as the weather gets colder.) The Pevonia Exfoliation is very gentle though with what the website describes as a “unique creamy granular texture.” It doesn’t have a fragrance, and with a pethora of natural ingredients, I would hedge that sensitive skin types could benefit from it. I got it with the Pevonia Eye Gel from Allure Magazine’s Spa Beauty Box (which already sold out… sorry). I have used for a few weeks now to confirm that I, indeed, love the product. At $35 for 5 oz., it is not ridiculously expensive for an exfoliator, although probably outside of my current college student budget. I will lovingly squeeze every last drop from my sample size and enjoy the luxuriant feel of dead skin cells and environmental factors being gently rubbed away.

UNTIL I can afford to stock up on this on my own, I will probably return to a drugstore an customer favourite, St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub, and patiently await my future days of leisure  and luxury and platinum credit cards.

The Body Shop lanceert het allereerste fair trade parfum. Het luchtje is op de markt gebracht onder de naam Love Etc. en is voor een groot deel tot stand gekomen met eerlijke handel.

Het hoofdbestanddeel van het parfum, alcohol, is wel volgens fair trade begrippen verkregen. Het is namelijk afkomstig van duurzaam geteeld biologisch suikkerriet uit Ecuador. Op deze manier zijn 150 gezinnen uit die streek verzekerd van een eerlijke prijs voor hun producten. De geur is ontwikkeld door Dominique Ropion. Hij heeft onder andere de geuren Armani Code, Givenchy Very Irresistible en Euphoria bedacht. Jasmijn en Vanille zijn de belangrijkste ingrediënten voor Love Etc. Daarnaast bevat de geur ook sandelhout en muskus. Maar niet alleen de bestanddelen zijn fair trade. Het flesje waar het parfum in zit, is 100 procent recyclebaar! Het parfum wordt uitgebracht in flessen van 30 ml en 50 ml. De prijs varieert van 20 euro tot 28 euro. Naast het parfum zijn er ook doucheschuim en bodylotion van Love Etc. uitgebracht.

De naam Love Etc. is tot stand gekomen doordat liefde een grote kracht is voor goede dingen en iedereen draagt wel een beetje liefde met zich mee. Zoals op de website van The Body Shop wordt aangegeven is de geur onweerstaanbaar en verkwikkend. Niet alleen het parfum zit vol liefde, ook op de website kun je nog meer liefdevolle dingen doen, zoals het versturen van een echte liefdesbrief.

Vu aujourd’hui : la vitrine Marron de Noël des “Plaisirs Nature” d’Yves Rocher. La marque se positionne sur un créneau nettement moyen de gamme, avec une communication visuelle proche de celle de L’Occitane. Le soin accordé au nouveau packaging illustre ce positionnement : le coffret Marron de Noël a beaucoup de points commun avec ce qu’on pourrait trouver chez The Body Shop dans la gamme Cacao, Karité et Noix du Brésil. 

Non seulement Yves Rocher renouvelle ses codes (ici, authenticité et esprit cosy), mais en plus le Créateur de la Cosmétique Végétale s’engage, guide à l’appui, en faveur du recyclage, du respect des animaux, du bio et du développement des “populations locales” (des programmes proches du commerce équitable j’imagine). Dernière action en date : la participation à l’appel pour Copenhague. Voilà bien l’exemple d’une marque qui a décidé de diriger sa communication sur sa responsabilité sociale et environnementale et l’argument naturel semble porter – souvenons-nous qu’il y a quelques années à peine, elle n’était ni spécialement glamour ni engagée.

Edit (19 h) – En lisant le test de la gamme Huile d’Olive des Plaisirs Nature de Miss Lollilop, j’ai matière à critiquer écrire davantage. La composition annoncée des produits ne correspond pas aux promesses en termes d’AOC et de bio. Quand on dépense autant pour sa communication, c’est dommage de ne pas plus investir en R&D. Affirmer que Yves Rocher s’inspire de la richesse de la nature pour concevoir des soins efficaces et respectueux pour notre peau, c’est prendre le risque de s’exposer au retour du boomerang greenwashing ! Vu les réactions au test de Miss Lollilop, ça risque de faire mal.
