A question was posed to me recently by a friend: Why is it that when a woman is attentive to a man h

A question was posed to me recently by a friend: Why is it that when a woman is attentive to a man he pushes her away, but the moment she moves on and focuses herself on someone else, its suddently “OMG I’ve gotta have her now!” or “you left me for him??”

To be honest, guys do not need very much attention. They do not always need to be reassured of love and feelings. Some may see extra attention as obsession and they might pull away or be insensitive towards the person showing them that kind of attention. Others simply appreciate that the person showing love, cares about them and is comfortable enough to express their feelings.

When a Guy is chasing someone of interest he looks for any kind of attention from that person as he can get. If however, the person falls for him and suddenly throws all of their time and attention at him, he will suddenly take a step back. The best bet for someone who falls for a chaser is to give of yourself in small bits and pieces. Men only need slices at a time. NOT, the whole cake. He may see it as too much to eat at a time and probably take you for granted. There are the few men who know how to handle attention and are sensitive towards that. But those are in fact, few and far between.

The phrase to remember is “bits and pieces” or “slices”. If the woman is shunned, pushed away and she turns her attention elsewhere its always noticed even if not mentioned at first. And guys, being stupid as they can be a lot of the times, they will miss that attention, even if, it was obsessive. They will feel lik they lost something and try to get it back and if they can’t, they will try to make the woman feeling guilty in some kind of way of getting back at her for looking elsewhere.

Ever had that vein in your forehead swell as you look, in frustration, at the hundreds of titles at

Ever had that vein in your forehead swell as you look, in frustration, at the hundreds of titles at your local video store? Ever been filled with mass confusion or paranoia that your hard earned bucks may be spent on yet another title starring Michael Dudikoff or Shannen Doherty? Well this little article is here to save you from that extra strain.

Over the course of this week, we will uncover twenty titles you need to seek out at your local DVD store.

I have suggested range in all sorts of categories and will appeal to a large assortment of movie fans. The unique things about all these films is that they are limited or non theatrical releases and were probably abandoned by some studio head who didn’t believe in the project. When viewing these twenty films remember there must have been a reason to be released just to video and that they aren’t Academy Award winning films. I personally enjoyed each and every one of them on some level or another. Write me and let me know if there is a classic direct to video flick you really enjoy.

The list is laid out something like this. The title, year it was made, genre, synopsis and finally my rating. I hope to do more of these lists as I uncover some of the treasures hidden at the local videostore.

20. 61* (2001-TV) (Drama)

Roger Maris (Barry Pepper) and Mickey Mantle (Thomas Jane) race to break Babe Ruth’s single-season home run record.

This Billy Crystal directed film is one of the most delightful and pleasant surprises to come to the silver screen about the sport of baseball. You can really tell that when they made this film the people behind it loved the game of baseball.

The attention to detail and historical accuracy is very rewarding as Crystal gets two incredible performances out of the film’s stars Pepper and Jane. HBO has done it again. (4 of 5)

19. Beast, The (1988) (Action-Drama)

During the war in Afghanistan a Soviet tank crew commanded by a tyrannical officer find themselves lost and in a struggle against a band of Mujahadeen guerrillas in the mountains.

This little “tank” film is an incredible look at the struggle between the Russians and the Afghans. The performances from lead actors Steven Bauer and Jason Patric are filled with passion and frustration as the director brings you deep inside what is going on their minds. Think “Das Boot” in the desert.

Special note: This movie is really hard to find! If you find it message me! (4 of 5)

18. Chase, The (1994) (Action-Comedy)

Jack Hammond (Charlie Sheen) is sentenced to life in prison, but manages to get away from the police as he takes a girl (Kristy Swanson) hostage and drives off in her car.

The girl happens to be the only daughter of one of the richest men in the state. A chaotic chase begins which is filled with comedy, stunts and excitement.

“The Chase” reminded me a lot of those old “Smokey and the Bandit” films with a modern twist. The chemistry between Sheen and Swanson is superb, as the script and director don’t sway away from comedic elements.

The comedy is the real gem in this piece. (4 of 5)

17. Cutting Edge (1992) (Comedy)

DB Sweeney stars as Doug Dorsey, a hockey player forced to retire after an injury.

His only way back onto the ice seems to be to assist Kate (Moira Kelley), a spoiled brat figure skater who is trying to fulfill her dream of winning Olympic gold.

If Doug plays his cards right he might just get the gold medal that eluded him in hockey.

“Cutting Edge” is quirky, hilarious and is a pure delight. The film proves when you have two leads that have magical chemistry then you have one hell of a movie. (3.5 of 5)

16 . Dark City (1998) (Sci-Fi)

John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) awakens alone in a strange hotel to find that he has lost his memory and is wanted for a series of bizarre murders.

While trying to piece together his past, he stumbles upon a seedy conspiracy controlled by a group of beings that possess the ability to put people to sleep and alter the city. Now Murdoch must find a way to stop them before they take control of his mind and destroy the very world he knows.

“Dark City” is one of those unique science-fiction films that are so very original you really have no idea what you are getting yourself into. It blends the power of “film noir” with conspiracy-oriented science fiction.

It is almost Kafka-like and really a sight to behold. Also “Dark City” director Alex Proyas (Crow) is one of those gifted visionaries that a lot of people don’t know about. Proyas could be the next Tim Burton if Hollywood would give him a chance. Can’t wait to see what he will do next.

If you can seek out the Blu-Ray version of this film, especially the director’s cut which gives more details on this captivating film. (4 out of 5)

Countdown to 1 Continues in NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing

The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series continues its Countdown to 1 playoffs as the series visits The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. ESPN2 will air qualifying and eliminations action from the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals, with qualifying airing Saturday, Oct. 31, at 11 p.m. ET.
As the next-to-last event that will decide the season’s NHRA Full Throttle world championships, plenty is at stake in Las Vegas. Every run will be important because a slip at this point could be worse than snake eyes at the other Strip’s craps tables. The venue is the same as in the spring, but the weather may be different, making for high drama at an event where previous world champions have been crowned.

Paul Page anchors ESPN2’s coverage with analysis by 22-time NHRA winner Mike Dunn. Gary Gerould, Dave Rieff and John Kernan report from the pits. Rieff and Dunn host NHRA RaceDay on Sunday at 11 a.m. to set the stage for that day’s eliminations action.

THERE WAS THIS TEACHER, a university teacher, and I was either in her class or a visiting student or a visiting professor. We chatted, and chatting led to flirting, and flirting led to real hardcore innuendo, and that led back to flirting, and that led to oh my God I totally want to have sex with this woman right fucking now. She looked like Tilda Swinton but less androgynous, and, come to think of it, like a prettier version of that chick from La Roux (which I think goes without saying). Anyway, the interaction was deadly: Flirtation answered with subtle flirtation answered with pull-away answered with flirtation answered with oh, you’re still interested answered with, answered with, answered with…

Anyone who likes the chase, the game, will appreciate this.

So there’s a ton of back and forth, and then I get chumped in front of other people. And then I notice when I walk back to her office, or my office, or something, she had left a note for me with her phone number on it. It was exciting, sneaky, dangerous, fun. It felt like I was in an eighties movie.

Later, there were rats gnawing my right hand off, on the other side of my hand. Like, I could see the back of my hand but was too scared to turn it around to see my palm, because I could feel the rats biting and scratching and it was fucking disgusting.

Even if you were not a NASCAR fan – anyone who watched the last 10 laps of the Sylvania 300 today would have been impressed with the racing – and would have enjoyed the crashin! To be fair, I am not a fan of the New Hampshire Speedway – but it proved me wrong today. There was plenty of side by side racing, passing all over the track and the drivers seemed the handle the double file re-starts better than they did in the Spring race. Juan Pablo Montoya in the #42 was the fastest in qualifying, practice and fastest again today in the race. It was the most aggressive I had ever seen him drive and he did not hesitate to move people out of his way. He dominated most of the day, passing almost at will. With only 13 laps to go he passed 3 cars as he stormed from 13th place back to finish 3rd. In the end the #44 team took a pit strategy gamble that did not pay off.

Pit strategy did pay off big time giving #5 Mark Martin the win. Mark Martin stopped early and took 4 tires and fuel – allowing him to stay on the track around lap 275 as the leaders all had to pit – sending the #5 back to the front. This was Martin’s 5th win of the season and it leaves him on the top of the leader board one race deep into The Chase. This victory was not given to him. With only 3 laps to go Martin was lined up beside Juan Pablo Montoya for the double-file restart. Montoya had been the fastest car on the track most of the day – so I was not sure Martin could hold on. He now holds a 35 point lead over Denny Hamlin and Jimmy Johnson, who are tied for 2nd place in the standings.

On the last lap, as #42 Montoya, #11 Hamlin and #5 Martin were fighting for every inch of track when up ahead at the end of turn four #44 AJ Almendinger spun out – blocking the finish line. NASCAR officials let the race run under green for as long as possible (too long in my opinion) throwing the caution flag as the leaders entered turn four. Not all of the drivers heard or saw the caution go out – and everyone was lucky to avoid a large crash at the finish line. As exciting as it was – I really do think NASCAR waited too long to throw the caution. I understand that everyone wants to see a race end under the green flag but today’s last lap incident was a little too close for the driver’s comfort.

The sad stories for the day were the #9 car of Kasey Kahne and the #88 of Dale Earnhardt JR. Dale JR really has had a bad year – despite being the most popular driver in NASCAR. Things started to turn around late on Saturday as #88 was the fourth fastest car in practice. Junior started in 23rd position and within 100 laps he had weaved his way through traffic into 7th place – spending most of the day in the top 10. It looked like the loyal fans of Junior Nation were going to have something to cheer about. But with only 17 laps to go – the #00 of David Reutimann got loose and put Dale Junior into the wall hard. He was not happy about going from 4th to 35th and he made his feelings well known in the post crash interview. Dale said, “I guess some people just can’t race side-by-side……David (#00) just ran out of talent down there.” It was a tough brake for this team that really needed one – but they are starting to gel – and I think the #88 team will be back next year with some top-ten’s and and maybe even a win.

via allsportsnews

Kasey Kahne blew his engine on lap 66. This comes after a week of drama for the #9 Budweiser Team. The announcement was made earlier this week that for next years Sprint Cup Series – the #9 will be running Ford Engines – moving away from Dodge. This news upset the guys in the engine shop and a few of them quit and bolted from the shop. I am not saying they sabotaged Kasey’s engine – but DRAMA is not what a team needs heading into The Chase. In the past – it was the accepted theory that each driver had one mulligan; they could blow one race and still win The Chase. But this year – the racing is too tight and the points are even tighter. Kasey dropped seven spots to last place in the standings. With all the drama in the garage – and that large of a point deficit – I do not think there is anyway the #9 can win this years’ Chase.

Tony Stewart in the #14 did not have a great day either. He started at the front of the pack and led several times during the race – but in the end a mistake by his team really cost him. On lap #175 the right rear axle cap came loose forcing the #14 to circle back into the pits. Stewart’s pit chief blamed a missed check list for the problem – I bet someone gets his ass chewed out. The mistake caused Tony to finish in 14th place and he dropped 4 spots in The Chase. I actually posted a comment on my local papers (las vegas sun) website the other day about Tony’s chances to win the chase….. I said that he would loose because of mistakes made by his crew. I just didn’t think I would be proven right so quickly. This is not a good feeling – I want Tony to win The Chase……… I am a SMOKE fan. We will see what the weeks ahead hold for the #14.

I think I am like most race fans in this years Chase; if it does not look like MY guy is going to be able to win it all – then I am going to pull for Mark Martin. He is the hands down sentimental favorite to win his first Cup Chamionship in his carrer. It really is a story that reads like a hollywood script. It all adds up to one thing – an amazing Chase that won’t be decided until the last race in Homestead.

Lastly, I had to write about a quote given to ESPN by #16 Greg Biffle’s crew chief Greg Irwin. Irwin said, “I think we are the underdogs comming into this chase.” REALLY? REALLY? You are in last place and you just barley even made it – 8 points less and you would have been out. So yeah, I guess it is safe to say that you are an underdog. Greg Irwin: Master of the Blatentley Obvious.

You guys have to know how happy I am that my favorite driver, Tony Stewart, is 2nd right now in the points, sitting just 10 points behind the leader, Mark Martin. This week they are at Loudon and I can’t wait until Sunday so that I can watch the race! Maybe, just maybe, this week the race will be over before I go to the Shakespeare class and I won’t have to field anymore of my professor’s dumb questions about the importance of NASCAR over Shakespeare. Of course, I’m still waiting to show him those books sitting next to each other in the library!

But, the chase is on in NASCAR and I can’t wait to see how all this plays out. And wouldn’t you know it, Tony Stewart qualified 3rd this week! YAY! Good thing I won’t be listening to it on the radio this weekend. Could get ugly and I’d be arrested… or thrown out of Shakespeare class…? Hey, I guess worse things could happen. Did I say that out loud? Oops!

Oh well! Go, Tony Stewart, Go! We need a win this week!
