On the dials, Romney’s low point with undecided voters was when he pushed Obama on not declaring Benghazi a terror attack for almost two weeks.  Obama insisted he said it was a terror attack in his speech in the Rose Garden.  See below… Romney was right and Obama lied to the American people again.  Obama blamed the video not a terrorist attack in his speech in the Rose Garden, yet CNN’s lefty moderator backed the president.   This debate will look more and more like a Romney win after the fact check… too bad most Americans won’t doe their homework!!  Obama lied about Libya, drilling permits, his tax plan, equal pay for women, and about Romney.  Natural gas production on public lands & waters in fiscal 2011 dropped 11% from the previous year. THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Every day, all across the world, American diplomats and civilians work tirelessly to advance the interests and values of our nation. Often, they are away from their families. Sometimes, they brave great danger.

Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. We are still notifying the families of the others who were killed. And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers.

The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. We’re working with the government of Libya to secure our diplomats. I’ve also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world. And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.

Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts.

Already, many Libyans have joined us in doing so, and this attack will not break the bonds between the United States and Libya. Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans. Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.

It’s especially tragic that Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a city that he helped to save. At the height of the Libyan revolution, Chris led our diplomatic post in Benghazi. With characteristic skill, courage, and resolve, he built partnerships with Libyan revolutionaries, and helped them as they planned to build a new Libya. When the Qaddafi regime came to an end, Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there. He was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who aspire to walk in his footsteps.

Along with his colleagues, Chris died in a country that is still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war. Today, the loss of these four Americans is fresh, but our memories of them linger on. I have no doubt that their legacy will live on through the work that they did far from our shores and in the hearts of those who love them back home.

Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks. We mourned with the families who were lost on that day. I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery, and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed. And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast to those of their attackers. These four Americans stood up for freedom and human dignity. They should give every American great pride in the country that they served, and the hope that our flag represents to people around the globe who also yearn to live in freedom and with dignity.

We grieve with their families, but let us carry on their memory, and let us continue their work of seeking a stronger America and a better world for all of our children.

Thank you. May God bless the memory of those we lost and may God bless the United States of America.

Media: This man ‘wins debate before it even starts’

Two years after a groundbreaking ceremony attended by President Obama, a Michigan plant built with $150 million in taxpayer funds to make batteries for hybrid vehicles is putting workers on furlough — before a single battery has been produced.

Employees at the Compact Power manufacturing plant in Holland, Mich., are working only three weeks a month due to a lack of demand for lithium-ion cells.

The plant — run by LG Chem, a South Korean company — was opened in July 2010 to make batteries for the Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in hybrid vehicle built by GM. But the car has seen sluggish sales, despite a $7,500 federal tax credit for each vehicle, and fewer than 25,000 Volts had been sold by September. Production of the car has been plagued by several plant shutdowns.

“Considering the lack of demand for electric vehicles, despite billions of dollars from the Obama administration that were supposed to stimulate it, it’s not surprising what has happened with LG Chem,” Paul Chesser, an associate fellow with the National Legal and Policy Center, told Fox News.

“Just because a ton of money is poured into a product does not mean that people will buy it.”

The $300 million plant was supposed to produce 15,000 batteries per year and create hundreds of new jobs. But so far just 200 workers are employed at the plant, and batteries for the Volts are instead being made by an LG Chem plant in South Korea.

The Michigan plant has spent the past two years building infrastructure and conducting pre-production “test runs,” Fox reported.

The factory was partly funded by a $150 million grant from the U.S. Energy Department, and received tax breaks from the local government worth nearly $50 million over 15 years in property taxes and $2.5 million a year in business taxes.

Obama told workers at the groundbreaking ceremony: “You are leading the way in showing how manufacturing jobs are coming right back here to the United States.”

But former congressman and 2012 Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra, whose House district included Holland, said the stimulus plan that provided funds for the plant “was designed to create jobs in the short term. It doesn’t exactly meet the criteria of stimulus for me.”

And Kelsey Knight, a spokeswoman for the Mitt Romney presidential campaign in Michigan, said in a statement reported by the Holland Sentinel that “a factory that produces nothing and furloughs workers is a symbol of where American is going under [Obama’s] failed policies.”

Footnote: An LG Chem spokesman said workers who are on furloughs one week a month are eligible to collect unemployment benefits for that week.

2. Most in Higher Tax Bracket for 2013 if Bush Cuts Expire

The expiration of the Bush-era tax cuts would have a significant effect on taxpayers at all income levels — including the lowest-earning Americans.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released its August 2012 consumer price index figure, typically the final piece of information required to determine next year’s federal income tax brackets, the Tax Foundation explained.

“Projecting 2013’s brackets is more complicated than usual given the uncertainty surrounding the potential expiration of the Bush cuts, originally enacted in 2001 and 2003, and more recent stimulus bill tax cuts originally passed in 2009,” the Foundation observes.

“But since tax parameters are adjusted for inflation in more or less the same way, the Tax Foundation can project next year’s parameters under a variety of scenarios with a high degree of certainty.”

With the Bush cuts in place, lower-income married joint filers pay a rate of 10 percent up to earnings of $17,900. But if the cuts expire, they would be boosted into the 15 percent bracket, which extends all the way to earnings of $60,550.

Taxpayers earning from $72,500 to $146,400 currently pay at a rate of 25 percent. Without the Bush cuts, earnings up to $146,400 will be taxed at the rate of 28 percent.

The 28 percent bracket currently covers married joint filers earning from $146,400 to $223,050. Without the cuts, their rate will rise to 31 percent.

Similarly, the current 33 percent bracket will increase to 36 percent without the Bush cuts, and the top bracket, 35 percent, will rise to 39.6 percent for those earning $398,350 or more.

Single filers and head of household filers will see comparable tax increases if the Bush-era cuts are allowed to expire next year.

Under President Obama’s 2013 budget, the cuts would expire only for those earning $247,000 or more.

Expiration of the cuts would also affect the standard deduction for married filers and the Earned Income Tax Credit, among other factors.

3. Report: Nuclear Iran Means Double Oil Prices

Oil prices could nearly double, costing the United States millions of jobs, if Iran is permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon — even if the Iranians don’t use the weapon, a new report warns.

The Bipartisan Policy Center’s report says that gasoline prices could increase by more than 70 percent, by up to $2.75 per gallon, sending inflation skyrocketing, driving America “into a severe recession,” and costing the country “more than five million jobs.”

The report was written by a team of former military leaders, economists, and lawmakers. It states: “Our analysis suggests that a nuclear Iran would heighten expectation of potential future disruptions, which should translate, if understood properly, into an increased risk premium added onto oil prices for as long as the concerns and tensions remain.

“In other words, anticipation of future energy oil disruption would be priced into the market, leading to higher oil and gasoline prices.”

The report’s authors “think that the expectation alone of instability and conflict that a nuclear Iran could trigger” could increase the price of oil, said Michael Makovsky, director of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Foreign Policy Project, speaking to reporters on Wednesday during a discussion about the report.

Former Democratic Sen. Charles Robb told the audience that while much attention has been given to the costs of preventive military action against Iran, “inaction also poses economic risks. Heightened expectation and instability triggered by the consequences of a nuclear Iran would cause the price of oil to go much higher and remain high, significantly impacting the U.S. economy.”

In the short term, oil prices could rise by $11 to $27 a barrel after Iran announces it has a working nuclear bomb, according to the report. And prices could soar by up to $55 a barrel in the following three years.

A nuclear-armed Iran could easily disrupt the flow of oil by closing the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off the supply of Saudi Arabian oil — and leading the Saudis to seek nuclear weapons as well, according to the Center’s analysis, which was reported by the Washington Free Beacon.

The Center’s report adds: “If any of the conflicts or energy disruptions that become more likely from a nuclear Iran actually occur, the energy impact and economic consequences would be more severe.”

And Dennis Ross, a former Middle East adviser to President Obama, warns: “It’s hard to imagine Iran with nuclear weapons behaving more responsibly than they are today.”

4. 1,035,000 Construction Jobs Lost Under Obama

President Barack Obama vowed in February 2009 that the economic stimulus legislation he was signing would create construction jobs for 400,000 people building and rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure.

But despite a price tag now estimated at $833 billion, there are 925,000 fewer construction jobs in the United States than in February 2009, and 1,035,000 fewer than when Obama was inaugurated, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

And there are even 484,000 fewer jobs than when the last recession officially ended in June 2009.

When Obama signed the stimulus bill in Denver, Colo., he told a crowd: "Because we know we can’t build our economic future on the transportation and information networks of the past, we are remaking the American landscape with the largest new investment in our nation’s infrastructure since Eisenhower built an Interstate Highway System in the 1950s.

"Because of this investment, nearly 400,000 men and women will go to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, repairing our faulty dams and levees, bringing critical broadband connections to businesses and homes in nearly every community in America, upgrading mass transit, building high-speed rail lines that will improve travel and commerce throughout our nation."

But in September 2012, according to the BLS, 5,523,000 Americans had jobs in the construction industry, down from 6,558,000 in January 2009, when Obama took office, and down from 6,448,000 in February 2009, when Obama signed the stimulus.

It is also down from 5,564,000 in January of this year, when Obama started the fourth year of his term.

Construction jobs in the United States peaked at 7,726,000 in April 2006.

The coal miners of Ohio, unlike some workers who are intimidated by their unions, are unafraid of standing tall and confronting the Obama Administration head-on. Last Wednesday, more than 500 coal miners who work at the Beallsville, Ohio Century Mine, operated by Murray Energy, held a rally to condemn the Obama Administration’s despicable ad claiming the miners were coerced into attending a rally for Mitt Romney on August 14. They also charged Obama with waging a war on coal.

The Obama campaign had seized on rumors started by a local shock jock, David Bloomquist, who claimed the miners had been forced to attend the Romney rally. Mitch Miracle, speaking for the miners, read aloud the two letters they had written and signed.

The letter to Obama read like this:

Dear President Obama:.

We are writing as the employees of American Energy Century Mine in Beallsville, Ohio. You have approved in a running television campaign ads about the Mitt Romney event that was held at our Century coal mine. These ads state that we were forced to attend this rally and that is blatantly false. There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, we, the employees, mostly started by a local shock jock host. Since your approval is attached to these ads, you may not wish to support these mistruths. Why would you lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of Century Mine, would request you immediately stop these false ads. Thank you. Century Mine employees.

The letter to Bloomquist read:

Mr. Bloomquist;

We are writing to you regarding the Governor Mitt Romney event held on August 14, 2012 at the American Energy Corporation Century mine, and additionally what it meant to the hourly employees to host a presidential candidate that we believe in and endorse. We voluntarily and enthusiastically attended the event and take great offense to the disingenuous reporting of the event by you and other media outlets.

There are 5 points in particular that I want to make here: the following are a list of facts about the hourly employees’ involvement at that event and the corrections to the media’s inaccurate reporting:

One: we want to make it very clear that no employee was forced to attend the event. Secondly, there were no attendance records taken for hourly employees. Number three, there are absolutely no penalties or reprimands to those who did not attend- we voluntarily attended. Number 4, due to security reasons, the only list involved whatsoever was for transportation purposes, and this was thoroughly explained to us; this had to be done by the advance team of Mr. Romney. They had to have records of who was coming on the property. Number 5; it was an honor to host this important event for Governor Romney.

Your so-called sources have made accusations against our company yet remain unnamed. We have proudly signed our names to this statement. These so-called sources are likely discharged or disgruntled former employees. This was a great day, for the employees of American energy, and your negative one-sided reporting has created a disservice to our company and to us, the employees.

You see, Mr. Bloomquist, there is a war on coal and we do want to protect our jobs. Mining jobs are being eliminated and coal fired power plants are being shut down from the President Obama’s actions and policies. We, the undersigned, support Governor Romney and reject President Obama and those like Sherrod Brown who are job killers. In summary, we, the employees of AEC, these great men behind me, our spouses, our children, our parents and our grandparents thoroughly enjoyed this event, a once in a lifetime event, right here, in the Ohio Valley. This is our statement, our choices, and our signatures. Mr. Bloomquist, your shock-jock tactics offend the undersigned, and I have attached our employees and our signatures.

Miracle eloquently concluded:

In closing, standing behind me are proud Americans, proud coal miners proud citizens of this great country, proud members of the Ohio Valley, where we live in and I am damn proud of them. Proud Ohio Valley workers. As you all know the economy has been tough for all of us; this is a great profession, these are great workers and we are proud to be a part of it, part of Murray Energy and we support our owner 100 percent. We ask that the media, let’s embrace coal, embrace what it does for all of us. Let’s be together in what we do.

6.  Immigrant Population at an All-Time High

The number of immigrants both legal and illegal in the United States hit a new record of 40 million in 2010, a 28 percent increase from 2000, a wide-ranging new report reveals.

And the number of immigrants plus their children born in this country now stands at around 50 million, accounting for about one-sixth of the U.S. population, according to Steven A. Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies. His report — "Immigrants in the United States, 2010: A Profile of America’s Foreign-Born Population" — is based on U.S. Census Bureau data from 2010 and 2011.
“One of the most important findings is that immigration has dramatically increased the size of the nation’s low-income population,” Camarota writes, adding that even immigrants who have been in the country for 20 years are much more likely to live in poverty, lack health insurance, and take advantage of welfare benefits than are native-born Americans.

The all-time high of 40 million immigrants is up sharply from 9.6 million in 1970, although the immigrant share of the population, 12.9 percent, is lower than it was in 1910 — 14.7 percent.

New immigration both legal and illegal plus births to immigrants added 22.5 million residents over the last decade, accounting for 80 percent of the total U.S. population growth.

The Center estimates that 28 percent of immigrants are in the country illegally.

Camarota also points out that between 12 million and 15 million new immigrants, legal and illegal, are expected to settle in the United States in the next 20 years.

Other findings of the Center’s study include:

• In March 2011, 68 percent of immigrants aged 18 to 65 held a job, the same as for natives.
• In 2010, 23 percent of immigrants and their U.S.-born children under age 18 lived in poverty, compared to 13.5 percent of natives and their children.
• Among countries accounting for the most immigrants in the United States, poverty is highest for those from Mexico (35 percent), Honduras (34 percent), and Guatemala (31 percent), and lowest for Germany (7 percent) and India (6 percent).
• 36 percent of immigrant-headed households used at least one major welfare program in 2010, primarily food assistance and Medicaid, compared to 23 percent of native households.
• 29 percent of immigrants and their American-born children lacked health insurance that year, compared to 13.8 percent for natives.
• 10.4 million students from immigrant households are in public schools, and 78 percent of them speak a language other than English at home.
• Self-employment is highest among immigrants from Korea and Canada and lowest among those from Haiti and Honduras.
• Of adult immigrants aged 25 to 65, 28 percent have not completed high school, compared to 7 percent of natives.
• Immigrants account for 27.2 percent of the population in California, 22.2 percent in New York, and 21 percent in New Jersey, but just 1.2 percent in West Virginia.
• The state showing the largest increase in immigrant population from 2000 to 2010 was Alabama, up 92.1 percent, followed by South Carolina (88.4 percent), and Tennessee (81.8 percent). New York was lowest (11.1 percent). Remarkably, the immigrant population in North Carolina rose a whopping 524 percent from 1990 to 2010.
• Of those immigrants in the United States in 2010, the greatest number came from Mexico, 11.7 million, followed by China/Hong Kong/Taiwan (2.1 million), India (1.78 million), Philippines (1.77 million), and Vietnam (1.2 million).

Another interesting fact the report has brought to light: While many Americans believe immigrants dominate in a number of professions, the fact is that natives account for 52 percent of maids, 73 percent of janitors, and 66 percent of construction laborers. The only category where immigrants form a majority is “Farm Workers Non-Supervisors,” at 53.5 percent.

7. BUSTED: Obama Owns Shares Of Sensata Personally Benefits By Outsourcing Of Jobs To China

The Obama October surprise has exploded with a whimper and not a bang.

Liberals have gone absolutely insane after snorting bathsalts under the name of “Sensata.” Supposedly, Romney is responsible for what Bain does 12 years after he left it, and Obama is not responsible at all for 4 years of failed economic policy.

And what is their claim? That Romney’s blind trust has holdings in this company that is off-shoring jobs from Illinois to China.

Pretty devastating. The only way this could be a dud is if Obama owned stock in this company as well…

For many sophisticated and wealthy investors, as well as for ordinary workers invested in pension funds, China is a part of any diversified investment strategy. President Obama, a former Illinois state senator, has as much as $100,000 in a state retirement plan that contains shares of Sensata Technologies, the same auto parts company controlled by Bain that is closing its Illinois factory.

Oh… it would seem that this is a non-story then, right?

Not when you’re snorting bathsalts. The liberals are dedicated to spreading this smear while ignoring the obvious problems with the criticism, including the fact that one of Obama’s most prolific fundraising bundler headed Bain during the closing of GST steel, the other attempt to derail the Romney campaign with lies.

The real surprise here is how desperate the Obama tactics are this late in the game…

This is what they should know:

Based on the fact that Romney owns $8 million in Bain, and Bain owns 51% of Sensata, they conclude Romney is the evil puppetmaster demanding jobs be outsourced – except they don’t tell you that Bain has $65 billion in assets under management. Since Math is so hard for the side that has Biden as the intellectual center, here you go – Romney owns the equivalent of .0123% of Bain assets. Great job geniuses!

Start planning how you will tell your grand-children what it was like when America was a free country if Obama-Biden are re-elected!

President Barack Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of ABC senior foreign correspondent and vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz, The Daily Caller has learned. Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review.

After TheDC made preliminary inquiries Monday to confirm Obama’s attendance at the wedding, ABC leaked a pre-emptive statement to news outlets including Politico and The Daily Beast Tuesday, revealing what may have been internal network pressure felt just days before Raddatz was scheduled to moderate the one and only vice-presidential debate Thursday night.

Both Politico and The Daily Beast jumped to ABC and Raddatz’s defense. The Huffington Post, a liberal news outlet, joined them shortly thereafter, while calling “unusual” ABC’s attempt to kill the story before it gained wide circulation.

Genachowski — called “Jay” at the time of his wedding, sources told TheDC — and Raddatz would go on to have a son together before their divorce in 1997. They have both since remarried to other people.

A source who attended the 1991 wedding told TheDC that Obama was also a guest there, and remembered that a man by the name of “Barry Obama” was among the guests dancing at the reception.

In August, The Daily Caller first connected Genachowski, an Obama appointee, to Raddatz following her selection as the vice presidential debate moderator by the left-leaning Commission on Presidential Debates. That debate, between Congressman Paul Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden, will take place Thursday night at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.

Carol Platt Liebau, a political commentator who was a Harvard Law Review colleague of Genachowski and Obama, wrote that “despite being a year below both men on the Review and not close personal friends with either of them,” she remembered Genachowski and Raddatz’s relationship as “quite public” during those days, and that “Raddatz visited Boston frequently.”

Genachowski’s friendship with Obama would continue through the campaign trail in 2008 and into the White House: He aggressively fundraised for Obama in 2008 as a campaign bundler, and served on the presidential transition team before winning his appointment to chair the FCC.

On Monday evening ABC spokesman David Ford grudgingly confirmed Obama’s attendance at the wedding, after shielding Raddatz in August by declining to comment when The Daily Caller first reported the story.

“This is absurd,” Ford said, in the same statement now circulated by ABC’s media allies on the left.

Obama, Ford wrote, “attended their wedding over two decades ago along with nearly the entire Law Review, many of whom went onto successful careers, including some in the Bush administration,” he said without providing a specific number of Harvard Law Review members to verify the statement.

When pressed further on Tuesday for a specific number of Harvard Law Review members in attendance at the wedding, Ford could offer none, despite circulating the same unverified approximation through sympathetic media outlets earlier that day in order to discredit The Daily Caller’s reporting.

Ford also could not provide The Daily Caller with a specific number of Harvard Law Review members who worked with Obama and Genachowski during that year. A photo taken of the Harvard Law Review during Obama and Genachowski’s final year of law school contains 70 people.

The ABC spokesman’s assertion that “nearly the entire Law Review” attended the wedding cast doubt on the significance of Obama’s attendance. But Ford’s unwillingness to document that claim now suggests that Obama was among a close circle of fewer Harvard classmates who were personal friends of Raddatz and Genachowski.

Instead, Ford maintained his ambiguity in subsequent statements to The Daily Caller, identifying only one other Harvard Law Review classmate of Obama and Genachowski who attended the wedding.

When TheDC asked Ford via email Tuesday night for further specifics on actual numbers, he did not respond with any.

The FCC, the Obama campaign and the Romney campaign also did not respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment.

UPDATE: Michael Steel, a spokesman for Paul Ryan, told Fox News’ Joy Lin that he has “no concerns” about Raddatz’s conflict of interest.

A friend watched, along with her son, “The Choice 2012,” broadcast Tuesday night by PBS. She told him after the program had ended, “Now that’s a documentary.”

The good news, of course, is that PBS’ “Frontline” program will be re-broadcast several more times before the Nov. 6 presidential election. It would do any voter well to watch this two-hour special presentation if they have any questions about the backgrounds of the two men competing to become president of the United States.

“The Choice” fills in many blanks, answers many questions and paints a thorough and detailed picture of President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the Democratic and Republican nominees respectively, one of whom will take the oath of office next January.

I don’t want to give away the store to those who haven’t yet seen this important documentary (which will air on public television’s KACV). But one does learn a few key points from this broadcast.

• Both men suffered crushing political defeats early in their public careers: Romney lost to the late Sen. Edward Kennedy in a run for Kennedy’s U.S. Senate seat; Obama was defeated in a hotly contested race for the U.S. House by Rep. Bobby Rush in Chicago. They both hate losing and both men decided that neither defeat would define their political legacy.
• Mitt Romney had a close relationship with his father, the late former Michigan Gov. George Romney; Barack Obama had virtually no relationship with his own father, the late Barack Obama Sr.
• Romney was reared in what many would call a “traditional” family; Obama’s upbringing was decidedly “non-traditional.”
• Both men have skeletons in their closets that neither man wants to mention as he campaigns for president: Romney’s ancestors practiced polygamy in Mexico; Obama was a frequent drug user in high school.

The race figures to go down to the wire. “The Choice” presents a comprehensive look at both of these men.

Viewers will learn of the ups and downs that both men have endured, which in its way binds the two men in an odd sort of way.

Documentaries by definition are not screeds designed to inflict damage on their subjects. “The Choice 2012” succeeds gloriously in fulfilling a documentary’s fundamental mission.

Production Value

The Choice relied heavily on archive footage, photographs, documents and previous political coverage. I was really impressed with how smoothly the many formats were incorporated into the piece. The first hour focuses on Obama and Romney’s childhood, which doesn’t use any current footage. Interviews from friends and family narrated the majority of the piece with integrated pictures. They also used old video from locations such as New York City, Boston and Chicago to illustrate what the candidates experienced. I feel it this must have been a challenge to find photos of Romney and Obama growing up. On Twitter, Frontline Post-Production Coordinator Megan McGough said, “Frontline color can be a challenge with each show. The Choice is a challenge to make B&W stills match B&W film, 80s Beta, 90s DBeta & HD.” I can only imagine how long that would take.

The audio transitions were also brilliant. The Choice flip-flops between candidates and time periods. Often, the transition would use natural sound of an event, candidate speaking, or television coverage to signal a change in time. It was very natural and I feel like it made the piece flow. I also noticed a sound effect when they showed newspaper clips, which sounded like paper moving. The use of natural sound and integration of candidates speaking at events reduced the amount of narration and added to the organic-feeling of the documentary.

Bi-Partisan Coverage

I feel like this piece is the closest thing to completely bi-partisan coverage I have seen. I found it very interesting that neither candidate was interviewed specifically for this piece. Many co-workers, classmates and journalists were interviewed, but not Obama or Romney. When I first saw a preview for The Choice, I was expecting an epic battle between candidates that would reveal the fraud and truth of their political campaigns. The Choice, in many ways, did reveal truths, but not in the way I expected. They eliminated any on-camera interviews with Romney and Obama and allowed the viewer to assess the situation and make their own choice about the election.

I like how the opening of The Choice flips between candidates and continues to alternate between the two of them throughout the piece. I felt that both candidates had an equal amount of coverage. The piece moves forward by progressing through time and showing the parallels of both candidates growing up, going to college, getting married, and beginning their political campaigns. The conclusion showed both candidates positives and negatives and wrapped it up by summarizing what Frontline had already proved. It also showed the similarities – their belief in their destiny to run America and the nation’s duty to decide between them. I feel this was a powerful conclusion, leaving the viewer with the facts to decide for themselves.

Dialogue Online

I really enjoyed Frontline’s open dialogue about production and feedback during The Choice. Their live-tweeting list allowed me to talk with the director and post-production about the decisions they made as well as see their conversations with other people about The Choice.  I asked director Steve Audette how they gathered archive footage and if it was difficult to find photos. His response:

These online conversations are awesome for me, as a journalist wanting to learn more! And it’s also a great resource for viewers who wonder how Frontlines come together, don’t understand something or are just looking for more information. Frontline also has a live chat with producers, reporters and biographers the day after the show. I think this is a great way to generate discussion and encourage people to watch. Here’s the question I asked:

I really admire how accessible the filmmakers are to the public and the way Frontline uses the web to add to their piece.

Web Extras

In addition to Twitter and live chats, The Choice has 8 more hours of interviews available online. The interviews are organized by candidate and relation to them. They are easy to access and viewers can pick and choose what they want to see. I think this is a great way to show video that maybe got cut or there just wasn’t time for. There are also many extras, archive videos and documents available on Frontline’s web page. There’s more raw video and even Obama’s early poetry. Frontline refers to these extras as “artifacts” and adds new material each week for three weeks after the air date. I like how this keeps the viewer coming back for more and let’s them see the raw materials.

To Sum It Up…

I really enjoyed Frontline’s use of social media and their web page to engage the viewer. I also admire their ability to present the facts and ask the viewer to decide for themselves. The Choice did a great job of outlining the history of each candidate, comparing them and keeping the reporter out of the story. Overall, I think they provide viewers with what they need to make their own choice about the presidential election.

It´s a while since I finished this film, and I have been unsure if I wanted to post it online since Im not 100% happy with it. But, I worked so hard on it and so many people helped me make it happen so I feel I should get it out there on the world wide web. So here you have the saddest film I have ever made:

When I started this blog, I really wasn’t sure or clear as to what my blog would focus on. Should I post my outfit shots? My food trips? My around the world adventures? My newest beauty loots and finds? Books I’ve recently read? Oh well. I really don’t know. All I know was I wanted an outlet, a place I could call “mine” where I can think aloud. And I guess that explains why I suddenly decided to make my “own” dot com.

So last night, being very proud of myself for publishing my first ever book review, I ended up being pressured as to what I would write next. Actually I was thinking of an outfit post or a review on my newest beauty finds but with the limited resources that I currently have (pictures, videos, details), I decided to just make another book review. Yes, kina-career ko na talaga ito!

Most might be surprised by the fact that I’m writing book reviews. Some might even be left stunned at the fact that yes, I do read books. I must admit though, compared to other book lovers I know, like my sister, my book selection’s more on the “LOVE” side. I like the short, young, fun romances. Well I guess it’s because that’s what I’ve always wanted to have (tip!).

WARNING: This book is a Nicholas Sparks. Most of us, if not all, have cried while watching “The Notebook” movie. Some might even have cried over and over again whenever they read the book or watch the movie. Because the fact is, it is one of the tear-jerking, heart-breaking yet romantic stories of all time. Again, this is MY review. No need to agree on my views, just respect.

I finished my 50 shades trilogy in less than a week, yes I KNOW! I’ll make a separate review on that! So I was left hanging and in the mood for more reading. I had to find another book that would be as impressive as Mr. Grey. I hurriedly scanned this CD that came with my Kindle which contained thousands of writers and their pieces. *Light bulb moment!* It was a battle between Nicholas Sparks, Paulo Coehlo and Emily Griffin. And lo and behold, the title was very timely at the moment – The Choice. I was making a choice right? So it’s a perfect match! LOL.

The book started with introducing the readers to Travis Parker, another character that surely women would fall inlove with instantly. He had everything a man could ever want in life EXCEPT love – unconditional, crazy, i-can’t-live-without-you kind of love. Oh my! Did I make the right choice? Yes. I guess I did because he reminded me of Edward Cullen (Twilight series), Anton (That Kind of Guy) and of course, Mr. Christian Grey (50 shades trilogy) who’s a perfect epitome of my ideal guy less the hard core sex thingy. LOL. Going back to Travis, he has always managed to live his life without a woman and was actually considering of keeping it that way not until, Gabby Holland moves next door.

Gabby, on the other hand had a long term boyfriend and has been looking forward for him to pop the BIG question. But still, no ring, no leaning down, NOTHING from the boyfriend. And living far from each other and their busy schedule had also got along the way. This is where it sounded kind of typical. Boy meets girl, girl meets boy, they go out and eventually find themselves falling for each other, especially when chemistry was all over them. Is there where the choice comes in you ask? Yes, The Choice part one. She could not deny the fact that she was falling for Travis and she felt so unfair to both guys. I would have to agree with her on that. I felt so bad for Travis when she was staying on the couch beside Travis, while he was professing his feelings for her, then suddenly the boyfriend calls. She had her hand on Travis’ lap while she was on the phone with her boyfriend. I could feel how bad it was for Travis. After the incident, I could not wait to read what happened next. Will she finally make the choice? Will she choose to stay with someone who’s been with her for the longest time? Or choose a new path with someone who makes her feel emotions she never thought she’d ever experience? It takes courage to choose but much more to actually stand by your choice. Part one gave the readers something to feel good about. Nicholas did another impeccable way of making you feel good and kilig all over about falling in love whether it is with the right person, at the right time or at the right place.

Part two was ironically heart breaking yet romantic. Yes, it was a bi-polar moment for me. Because in the entire part two, the only emotions I felt were pure, sweet, unconditional love – good and the agony, pain, and hurt of the characters – bad. It’s a roller coaster of emotions. I could feel the pain Travis was going through though Nicholas did not use deep or metaphorical words to describe the feeling. It was plain and simple yet you’d get the feeling of actually being in that position.

Over-all, though parts of the book felt a bit draggy and tedious, I still think it was worth it especially if you’re a fan of his works. It would take you to different stances and make you feel as if you were there. As you get closer to the end, you might also ask yourself how far you would go for love. What would make you go for it? Which choice should you make? Which promise should you keep? The book will teach you how love and hope works perfectly together.

I fell in love with Travis Parker in this story, exactly what I want in a man. Vocal with his feelings, eager to fight for what he wants, relaxed yet driven, he has his own dreams and he goes after it.

I wouldn’t want to give out too many details and spoil all the fun so I’ve decided to put an end to this. This is my choice. What’s yours?

It is time for everyone who is concerned about America’s future and the future of their children and grandchildren to come together to work and pray.  We have approximately 40-days to decide the future…

November 6, 2012, although in some areas the voting will begin before the 1st presidential debate even takes place… go figure, is the most important election of our life time(s) because it will determine the future path of our nation for everyone who lives in America; actually in the world because of the difference our ‘the choice’ will make globally.

Even if you are not normally one to get involved politically or to speak out… this is the time!

We must counter the corrupt media, help educate people around us, help get out the vote and protect the integrity of the voting process as well as the vote counting process.  And it will take every informed American to get engaged to get this done fairly and honestly.

The tools are out there.  The information is available.  And Romney can win. He actually is winning in the honest polls.  But Team Obama and the liberal media will do whatever they possibly can to make Americans believe that President Obama is in the lead and will win, so that Republicans might skip going to the voting booth.  Team Obama and their media minions will also keep up their misinformation campaign that Mitt Romney is inept by focusing on and exaggerating every tiny misstep by either Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney (and in many cases down right lying), while not reporting, misreporting or spinning anything potentially damaging to President Obama or VP Joe Biden, as they since Obama announced his candidacy for the 2008 race, throughout his presidency and throughout the present race.

Many Americans of all stripes are finally waking up to the smoke and mirrors concerning Obama’s past, the figures and spin on the economy as well as the administrations ineptness in foreign policy.  Even if you like President Obama as a person, or are a life-time Democrat, the truth is just becoming overwhelming for many a diehard and even those who do not pay regular attention to the news and politics… but not to all.  And then there is the focused campaign to commit voter fraud, from throwing out voter ID laws, to allowing intimidation at the polls, to pre-set and slanted voting machines, to unchecked voter registration of dead people, dead animals, cartoon characters or multiple registrations of the same person.  Plus we have the added problem of using a company located in Spain to count many of our votes. 

And that is where we all come in.

Choose a person or group of people to share information with:

Are your children, nieces or nephews, grandkids, etc. planning to vote according to what their professors or friends are telling them, yet they have no real knowledge of the issues, the candidates or history?  Or do you have friends who are voting Democrat because they always have?  Or do you live near a senior center where someone has falsely convinced them that if they vote for Romney-Ryan they will lose their Medicare, have their Social Security reduced or even worse.

1. Educate yourself
2. Offer to teach a class or question answer forum at your community center, library or a nearby senior center and invite a speaker, co-host, or speak yourself
3. Start conversations with your friends and family about what you have learned and found out. Putting a yard sign out or a bumper sticker on your car is a good place to start
4. Start a blog and share your articles online and with friends and family.
5. Use the tools available.  Take someone who is a-political, undecided or uninformed to see: ‘2016: the Movie’, ‘Unvetted’, ‘Last Ounce of Courage’ or to a rally or fundraiser, etc.
6. Volunteer for a campaign
7. Donate money and time to campaigns who need help
8. Volunteer to work at the polls
9. Join an action committee to make sure the votes are counted correctly
10. Email people worthwhile information, including about election and candidate specials.
11. Stand up for any and all injustices in the voting process and insist they be corrected… before allowing any candidate to be seated, from the President on down.

Future generations will thank you!

We are being had by the mainstream (lamestream) media and by the polls; something that became even more evident over the past couple weeks since the terror attack in Benghazi on 9/11 and the outbreak of violence in the Middle East and across the world.  It highlighted the failure of this administration’s foreign policy decisions, the lack of truthfulness by Team Obama and the media, and the collusion between the two.  Plus the past couple of weeks have also shown us a worsening economic picture.

Then add to that the skewing of the polls:

Many of the polls have been skewed anywhere by 3 to 13 points in favor or Obama… why?  Because they are hoping that conservatives and Independents will give up, won’t go to the polls or will vote for the anticipated winner.  Show them they are wrong!!

Examiner: According to the state polls on August 25, 2012 Mitt Romney would have won the presidential race over Barack Obama if the nation voted that day. Likewise, Rasmussen Reports Daily Tracking polls showed the race statistically tied nationally with President Obama at 46 percent to Mitt Romney polling at 45 percent.

The map above showed little change since the last GOP2112 analysis of the race on August 15, 2012 which showed Romney leading with 359 electoral votes. The recent polling available for most of the states causes no changes in projections of those states with just a few exceptions. While the president has gained no states from the last analysis to this one showed by the map above, the states of Pennsylvania, Minnesota, New Mexico and Oregon have moved from leaning to Romney to toss-up status. Real Clear Politics (RCP) has all four of these states listed as leaning to Obama. But the weakness of the RCP averages is including a number of polls, by mainstream media outlets that are clearly skewed to favor Democrats, that result in skewing their averages the same way. Absent the skewed polls, the few remaining accurate polls show these states too close to call.

What is important to note, at this juncture, is these states are all states won by Barack Obama in 2008 and are key battlegrounds this year. The fact that states won easily by Obama four years ago are now toss-up states show the campaign this year is being fought on ground that was favorable to the president in 2008. This illustrates a degree of strength for the Romney campaign and a key sign of weakness for Obama’s campaign. Yet the bias liberal media keeps reporting that Obama is leading in the skewed national polls by anywhere between a few points up to 13-points.

And earlier today… 09.24.12 it was reported that  nine new state polls were released showing 10-states that moved toward Obama and putting Ohio in the win category… even on Fox  Yet still others, like former Clinton advisor Dick Morris, believe that Romney has a double digit lead and will win with a double digit lead.  Dick Morris outlines Why The Polls Under State Romney Vote. 

The war of the polls gets a little wearisome for non-wonks, but we’ll keep this short and sweet. The mainstream media are rigging the polls. No headliner there, but just how bad is it? It could mean that Romney has as much as a double-digit lead of 54-44 in Realityville. How, you ask? Because the Democrats are fooling themselves in terms of likely voter party identification and voter enthusiasm.

And then later today… ‘Unskewed’ polls show nearly 8-point Romney lead

Republicans have complained that the establishment media’s voter-turnout models can serve a partisan purpose by presenting margins that keep discouraged Republican voters at home thinking the election is already lost.

Romney Pulls Ahead

But the war for America needs to be at the forefront for all concerned Americans for the next 40-days… no matter what the polls show! Team Obama is waging of the dirtiest campaigns in U.S. history!

The Founding Fathers warned us that the only way we could keep our republic was to remain engaged and to do that they knew that the citizenry must be educated and must demand a free and truthful media.  We have fallen down on all three and the Obama presidency is the result of that failure.

And why are the Clintons filling in for President Obama at meetings with worldwide leaders at the UN? While Obama went on the view?  Gov. Romney is also meeting with world leaders while Obama has decided to stay out of the “political” fray during his campaign? Hello?  Yet CNN, whose coverage is so skewed that after hiding their knowledge of the Libyan Ambassadors’ Diary, will be pulled from Israeli TV by the end of the year, swooned… saying they could not wait to hear what Obama had to say before the General Assembly Meeting, even though he wouldn’t meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu or any other world leaders around his speech.

This could be one of the closest races and elections in U.S. History… and the final count will probably go waaay into the night of November 6th or even the early morning of November 7th.

Because the Democrats are fooling themselves in terms of likely voter party identification and voter enthusiasm.

In the “Review of the United Nations Charter” published by the 83^rd Congress, 2^nd session, January 7, 1954, covers the whole plan and aims of the United Nations. It discusses a flag flying above the United States flag, the United Nations law superseding that of the United States and the Constitution, and it also discusses an array of other objectives that the United Nations has.

The following excerpt is from page one hundred eighty-nine within “The Treason Documents” PDF file compiled by William Cooper and put onto a CDROM. My associate received a copy of that CDROM and has uploaded it to Google Documents, as well as Scribd (the document is too large to scan for viruses; however, it is safe to download. Sadly, it is also too large to upload to our research library, but I will furnish a link so you can download the document and read everything I state within this article for yourself). The excerpt reads as follows:

“It was promptly ratified by the Senate of the United Nations, thereby proclaiming allegiance to its principles and providing precedent and example for other countries. The United States has consistently regarded its treaties with other nations as inviolate. The charter has become “the Supreme Law of the Land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.” U.S. Const., Art. VI, see 2. The position of this country in the family of nations forbids trafficking in innocuous generalities but demands that every state in the union accept and act upon the charter according to its plain language and its unmistakable purpose and intent.”

It is astonishing how blatant this plan is. According to this review “the charter has become “the Supreme Law of the Land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.” This means that since the passage of the Charter the Constitution and our rights listed in it, and any other laws within the Union are no longer valid, or are “notwithstanding”. This only makes sense for their plan of a world government, a world currency, and a world religion. In a testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee 1945, Helen V. Somers warned of this plan when she indicted the United Nations Charter stating that “The United Nations Charter will set up a super state because you cannot have a World Court without a world government and a world dictator. There will be no freedom, only slavery. George Washington warned against interweaving our destiny with that of any other nation. How do I know of the plan to set up a world state? Well, I have been very fortunate in learning of the British-Israel World Federation movement, whose symbol, the unfinished pyramid of Giza, appears on our one dollar bills only, placed there in 1935. . .”

Helen V. Somers’s warning to the people of the United States and her fellow legislators seem to have been ignored by the public, as well as school institutions. However, this was and still is the goal. They need to essentially hide the indictments against them to retain the illusion of attempting to unify the world, and to try and end all conflicts between the nations. Many others, just like Helen V. Somers, have warned against this super-national institution, but no has listened. It is time to spread these warnings far and wide, in their original form, to people throughout the world. This past week, "2016: The Movie" about President Barack Obama opened in the Chicago area, and I chose to get more of an education about Obama by seeing the movie. After the inundation of canned hype for the movie on conservative talk shows across the Chicago radio dial that sounded more like commercials than honest endorsements of the movie, I was skeptical of what I was going to see.

While some talk show hosts sounded like they were genuinely impressed with the documentary and honestly endorsing the film, there were those who were obviously reading a commercial script which was not coming across as sincere to the regular listener – at least not to this often-skeptical listener. Perhaps, in future promotions of the film, it would be wise to have pre-recorded commercials done by the professional commercial-makers rather than having the likes of Mark Levin and Sean Hannity doing script after script to promote the movie. After all, the listeners aren’t stupid and resent any attempt at being conned. After many reads by the talk show hosts, the readings of the commercial script were no more enthusiastic than another Life-Lock commercial read – another commercial that ought to be professionally done.

Yet, I’m glad I saw the hyped-film because it was more informative than I had thought it would be and included less propaganda than I had predicted. If anything, it was nearly too informative as there was an enormous amount of information condensed into the nearly one-hour-and-a-half documentary. Fact after fact is put forth which shows that President Obama definitely has many skeletons in the closet that have not been released prior to the nation’s trust in him with the Oval Office.

To watch this movie and realize – or simply be reminded of – all that is unknown about President Obama is of concern. Much of the information has been ignored by the American media totally. When appropriately reminded as to what is still unknown about Obama to date, one has to ask: How can any logical-thinking person give a damn about Romney’s taxes while not asking any questions regarding our current President’s past? The man influences the entire globe, but liberal Americans want to know how much Mitt Romney paid in taxes in the past rather than learn about the man who they have entrusted with the country. Unbelievable.

The movie undeniably links Obama to persons of suspicious-interest due to their past actions and statements, such as former radical activist and Chicago educator Bill Ayers. While the media and blinded-liberals cast such facts aside, the movie does not. No, this portion of the movie is not propaganda – it is the display of factual information about relationships between people that cannot be denied. Yet, the "left" does deny the facts that are right in front of them.

Quite disturbing is the talk of the United States economy in the film. The current national debt which has increased two-fold during Obama’s presidency and the horrendous economy is suggested to be part of the plan to strip the nation of democracy – reasonable cause to make citizens totally dependent on the government. The "left" is aghast at this suggestion of the current economy. They actually believe that Obama is unintelligent enough to let this economy just happen. Ironically, it’s many of the people on the "right" who know Obama’s not stupid, and much of what has happened to the United States in the past four years is part of Obama’s plan.

How could one so-highly educated and intelligent as Obama not know what he was doing when he incurred such debt? I left the movie thinking more strongly than I had in the past that the current debt and this economy was part of Obama’s plan all along. Increasingly making Americans dependent on the government is the plan. What’s more, he knew his blind followers would believe it was not the plan and, of course, was all Bush’s fault.

He must be laughing at his blind followers all the way to the "new America " they’re allowing him to create. My belief is that Obama continues to prey on his die-hard followers’ stupidity to accomplish his personal goals for America .

The most disturbing part of the film to me was the interview with President Obama’s half-brother George Obama from Nairobi , Kenya . How can Obama claim to want to help people when he has done absolutely nothing for his own family? It makes me wonder if he really cares about anybody if he can’t find it in his heart to help his own family.

As the closing credits started to role upward across the screen, the audience applauded. Me, I just walked out – reasonably upset.

Those who have already decided to vote for Obama will probably not even see the movie. It’s sad but they probably don’t want to know the truth when it is laid out so clearly for them in this documentary. The independents who are still deciding who they are going to vote for ought to see this film. I’m quite confident that any undecided voter who sees this film will know who to vote for after viewing this documentary. If you know you’re not going to support the "left" in this coming election, see the film out of interest if you like. But, fair warning, it’s disturbing – and quite frightening – to say the least.

Insider reveals internal polls, luxury Hawaii estate ready for January

$35 million Hawaii estate regarded as possible Obama retirement home

Are Obama insiders secretly making retirement plans for the Obamas with the expectation the president will lose his bid for re-election in November?

Very quietly, Obama’s chief financier, Penny Pritzker, has entered the Hawaii housing market to buy a retirement home for the president and his family that will be available not in 2016, but in January 2013, according to a confidential source within Pritzker’s Chicago organization

Pritzker, a wealthy Chicago business executive and heiress to the Hyatt Hotels fortune, served as national finance chairman for Obama’s 2008 campaign and is the co-chairman of his 2012 effort.

The source told WND that highly confidential internal polls conducted by the Obama campaign indicate Obama cannot win re-election, despite public surveys that show him in the lead.

“The public polls are mostly political,” the source argued. “Obama radicals want Romney supporters to feel discouraged and give up. Truth is that Romney’s winning.”

The source further told WND that Pritzker is experiencing frustration in her fundraising efforts, as wealthy donors who contributed generously to Obama in 2008 are not even returning her phone calls.

The source said Pritzker is “reminding everyone how generous to their supporters the Clintons were when they left office.”

“Everything is for sale. Ambassadorships, government grants, stimulus money – you name it,” the source told WND.

“There’s nearly three months between the Nov. 6 election and the Jan. 20 inauguration – plenty of time to hand out goodies to friends from the Oval Office.”

Pritzker is telling potential donors that the Obamas have no intention of returning to Chicago when they leave the White House, according to the source.

She is also raising money for the Obama presidential library and museum, which also are slated for Hawaii.

Pritzker’s search for a developed property, suitable for occupancy four months from now, instead of property where a custom-designed estate might be built, is further indication that insiders believe Obama will not be re-elected.

Kevin DuJan, founder and editor of HillBuzz.org, first reported Pritzker was acting as a proxy to purchase a $35 million oceanfront estate in Kailua, the “Beverly Hills of Hawaii,” on the northeast shore of the island of Oahu.

DuJan reported billionaire Pritzker herself may contribute up to half the $35 million purchase price of the future Obama residence.

Hawaii Five-O

The property that appears to fit the description is an estate seen in a recent episode of the popular television show “Hawaii Five-O.”

As featured recently in Honolulu Magazine, the property consists of a main residence and a guest home located on 1.5 acres in an area called “Beachfront,” just before the Lanikai neighborhood in Kailua on Oahu’s Windward Coast.

Jeff Kerr of Kerr Michaels Design told Honolulu Magazine he designed the estate to replicate properties constructed in Hawaii in the early 1900s.

The interior of the house is 8,419 square feet, with another 5,359 square feet of lanai area. The main house has five bedrooms, five baths, two powder rooms, a professional media room and a cabana adjacent to the pool and spa.

A panoramic tour of the world-class, beachfront property can be taken on the Internet, allowing the viewer to “walk through” the home and see its expansive views of the Pacific Ocean.

Signals Obama will leave Chicago behind

In recent months, various members of the Obama family have been indicating that the family does not intend to return to Chicago when the Obama presidency ends.

On Sept. 14, the Weekly Standard reported Michelle Obama was asked by a school child during a visit to a Virginia YMCA where the Obamas would live if President Obama loses.

The first lady said the family would figure that out later, according to the pool report.

In an interview with USA Today in May, Michelle Obama de-emphasized the importance of returning to Chicago.

“So this is home in many ways,” she said, speaking about Chicago. “I mean, we have a house that has stuff in it back in Chicago. We have friends that we love who we invite here all the time.

Inside $35 million Hawaii estate

“But the truth is,” she said, “is that if you plucked us up and put us anywhere right now, what we’d know with this change is that we’re always a family when we’re together. And in the end, that’s what really matters.”

DuJan at HillBuzz.org has been reporting that Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, who is currently living with the Obama family in the White House, has been bragging about moving to Hawaii.

“It was fun while it lasted,” HillBuzz.org quotes Robinson as saying, “but wait until you see the place they’re buying for Michelle and Barack!”

Alea iacta est… The Council Has Spoken!, the votes have been cast, and the results are in for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up. And it was a pretty close race in both categories!

President Barack Obama’s Middle East Foreign policy ( if it can even be called that) is falling apart at the seams, and yet the usual suspects blame it on a silly video and what none other than our president called the violence, including the murder of four Americans ‘natural protests’. And of course, they make sure to add that the perpetrators are a ‘minority’ who aren’t practicing real Islam, the Religion of Peace.

This week’s winner by a nose, Joshuapundit’s, Islam and Not Islam: Fantasy Vs. Reality In The West takes a look at this topic, one I’ve written about before. Here’s a slice:

Where exactly do you draw the line between fantasy and reality? Or more importantly, where does a society as a whole draw it?

Increasingly, that line in our society is being drawn when it comes to how people perceive Islam.

The recent rise of Islamists and the outbreak of violent attacks on U.S. embassies in the Muslim World has brought this into focus in almost a surreal way, as various pundits and talking heads tap dance like newly reborn Fred Astaire in a minefield trying to avoid stepping on the real issue -is this sort of violent behavior due to Islam or is it an aberration due to culture? And what can we do about it?

The way many of them attempt to deal with this without being fired from their jobs or fear of being targeted for violence themselves is by talking about a minority of ‘extremists’ who are practicing an interpretation of Islam that of course, the majority of Muslims do not follow.

Are they right?

Dutch politician Geert Wilders is someone who has forcefully addressed that question, and he’s paid a heavy personal price for it. So his opinion is of some interest.  See: TheDC Interview: ‘Marked for Death’ Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders [VIDEO]

The above interview with The Daily Caller’s Jamie Weinstein to promote his book, ‘Marked for Death: Islam’s War Against the West and Me’ serves as a useful signpost on where that line exist, where the delusions about Islam collide with adamant reality.

Wilder, being European, has seen first hand how multiculturalism combined with massive Muslim immigration and supine politicians willing to appease and accommodate the situation has changed a continent, literally making what was a free society far less free and much more violent and fearful.As Geert Wilders says during the interview, Europe was ten years ahead of America in that regard and he wrote the book, in part ‘as a warning to my American friends.’

Wilder’s opening point is to explain why Islam “should not be compared so much with other religions like Christianity or Judaism” but rather “to other totalitarian ideologies like Communism and Fascism. If we acknowledge that fact then you don’t have to treat it like a religion and a lot of problems can be solved far more easily..”

At which point, Weinstein interrupts and after a brief mention of Israel, brings the conversation to the far more ‘human interest’ level of Muslims as people…you know, all those ordinary, law abiding peaceful Muslims who aren’t harming anyone.

Wilder’s response is interesting. He says (as he always has all along) that he has nothing against anyone simply because they are Muslim, and that the majority of Muslims in our society are neither violent nor criminals. But he goes on to make an important distinction – that while there are moderate people that call themselves Muslims, there’s no such thing as moderate Islam. “Don’t let anybody fool you who says Islam can be moderated,” Wilders says. “There are not two Islams; there is only the Islam of the Koran, the Islam of the life of Mohammed, and the Islam of sharia law.”

Is Wilders correct?

Buying a house is usually an impersonal transaction. The buyer sees a scrubbed version of the home, artfully “staged,” possibly with a fresh coat of paint and flowers on the table. Once a purchase price has been negotiated, the buyer and the seller sign legal papers in triplicate, and the new owner gets a set of keys and – if lucky – an extra garage door opener. So, when Hal and Corinne Prewitt decided to buy Mitt and Ann Romney’s Park City, Utah home in spring of 2009, they figured they were in for another paperwork hassle. What they got, however, was a great house, interesting interactions with the man who’d just lost a bid to be the previous election’s GOP nominee, and some insight into the character of the possible next President. In fact, their interaction with Romney was so different than what the Prewitts expected, Hal decided to write down his experience in a Google document which has since been downloaded over 100,000 times.

First of all, the Prewitts were impressed – and a little shocked — when Mitt Romney met them at the property on moving day. There were no brokers or anyone there at the house – just the former governor walking around the house to make sure the new owners were comfortable and familiar with their purchase. “He spent as much time as we needed showing us around, answering our questions and explaining how to use and service the home’s equipment,” Hal wrote. “And when he was done, he gave us his direct contact information should we have problems.

Secondly, the Prewitts were fascinated by the way Governor Romney – worth, by some calculations, hundreds of millions of dollars – decided to move his things. Some people hire professional movers to pack their things, others hire them to transport them, and others prefer a do-it-yourself approach. Governor Romney fit into the last category. He went to Home Depot, bought wood, and built the necessary containers to transport his possession from the house. Then, he asked a friend and some family to help him pack his family photos, mementos, and grandchildren’s toys. Then, they carried his things into a U-Haul, which he drove to his new home in California.

The home, according to the Prewitts, was built with a focus on their family, even though it had “no swimming pool, tennis court or movie theater. There are no maid, butler or nanny quarters. Clearly Ann and Mitt raised their kids. No gold faucets, no fancy silverware. The kitchen was simple and typical of an average three bedroom home, very much like those in which we were raised.” Because the Prewitts bought much of the home’s contents, they also got to see the way the family really lived in their home: the linens didn’t have the highest thread count, the master bedroom pillows had tags from a discount store, and almost everything — the art, furniture and drapes — were American made.

Plus, there were lots of toys for the grandchildren. Also, in the Romney’s former mud room, Hal and Corinne found the former governor’s ski gloves with holes in the fingers. Apparently, one of Mitt’s sons had suggested he replace the gloves, but Gov. Romney, whom his sons have described as “frugal” and even “cheap,” thought he could salvage them. When Hal and Corinne found the gloves, they’d been altered.

“Mitt had gone to the garage tool box and wrapped them with duct tape. Thrifty? Yes, and the repair provided an immediate practical solution rather than traveling to the store to buy a new pair,” Hal wrote. “His indifference to appearance demonstrated his confidence, true character and priorities. Good qualities, but easily misunderstood because they are quite different from those displayed by many famous people and certainly politicians, who highly protect and prize their appearance.”

In the Romney’s master bedroom, was a prominent painting of Jesus Christ. “Most Americans know little about Mormonism and we didn’t either,” Hal wrote. “But Mitt Romney clearly had a home of faith and family just like the rest of us.”

“One of the most interesting questions many have asked is, ‘as president will he impose his beliefs on others?’” Hal wrote. “Many claim that a President Romney would take away rights and impose his beliefs on all Americans.” However, possibly the most surprising discovery was a small stash of alcohol in the house, which – the Prewitts were told – was for guests only. Mormonism prohibits drinking alcohol, of course, and the Romneys are teetotalers. However, they kept a few drinks on hand to be good hosts and make sure their guests felt comfortable. Hal believes this stash shows the Romneys wouldn’t impose their beliefs on others from the White House, because they didn’t even impose their beliefs on others in their own house.

The Prewitts didn’t support Romney in the 2008 election. Neither Republicans nor Democrats, they knew very little about Romney, Utah, or his former Presidential bid when they looked for a winter home. However, they felt they needed to speak out, because the caricature of Romney on television is such a far cry from the real man who showed him around the house and packed his own boxes that day.

“Mitt Romney… is not aloof or out of touch. He is a man of faith, family and American values. A guy who is well-grounded. It is not beneath him to roll up his shirt-sleeves and get the job done,” Hal wrote. “The fact that he has allowed this to be kept so very private is a true testament to his character and shows how different he is from many other politicians.”

If Romney wins in November, he’ll be faced with yet another move. Will the new President show up at the White House in a U-Haul? With $16 trillion of national debt, it just might be a move in the right direction.

If I understand the latest Mitt Romney “gaffe” he said: 1)

Palestinians have “no interest whatsoever in establishing peace, and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish.”

and 2):

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

I was going to respond to each of these alleged “gaffes” one by one, but then I got to thinking what gaffes?

Both statements are true and self evident. So, go Mitt!

Every one knows the Palestinians don’t want peace. Duh.

Oh, sure, they want “peace” …. if by peace you mean the “one state solution” which is just a sophisticated way of saying the utter destruction of a Jewish state in the Middle East.

There are two types of people who think Mitt got this wrong:

1) Those in utter denial of reality
2) Antisemites

There is a third camp here that is angry over Mitt’s statement. This camp doesn’t think Mitt got it wrong, which is why I didn’t include them in the above. Instead, this group thinks Mitt is exactly right, but think that it is not in America’s best interest to say this out loud.

Personally, I’m not in that camp. I don’t mind our future President being honest about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Lying to ourselves about the Palestinians has gotten us nowhere. We tried that strategy for the past 20 years, and it has failed. When a strategy fails, it’s time to change it and try something else.

Let’s give the truth a chance.

As to the second point, Mitt is right on again. Great going. More please!

Obama’s electoral strategy has always been to divide Americans into discreet interests with each interest being dependent on government largess.

Obama goes after the farm vote by promising farmers more subsidies. He goes after blue collar workers by (finally) taking on China’s manufacturing subsidies and currency manipulation. He goes after the poor by expanding WIC, welfare, and medicare. He goes after the lower middle class by extending tax breaks that only apply to them.

Any one who thinks that Obama’s strategy isn’t exactly how Mitt described it is in utter denial of the truth.

Which is why the media thinks this is a big deal. It isn’t.

They only think it’s a big deal because they are Obama partisans and liberals who think that votes ought to be bought by government largess.

The real scandal here is the media coverage. I get that Mother Jones thinks this is a scandal. Mother Jones is so far to the Left that they think Barack Obama is a mainstream conservative.

But for CNN or any other network of publication to claim non-partisanship to think this is a big deal? Sometimes the partisanship is subtle, but this time not so much.

“Disinformation.” Just the crazy sound of the word evokes the shadowy machinations of the KGB, of propaganda campaigns and assassinations, of pinch-faced communist operatives rewriting history as in Orwell’s “1984,” and all the rest of the cloak-and-dagger intrigue of the Cold War era.

But this story is not about the past. It’s about here and now, in America, where a never-ending stream of hardcore disinformation continues to flow, poisoning our national dialogue, our culture and our very identity as a country and a people.

How can this be, you ask?

Here’s how. My friend Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest-ranking official ever to defect to the West from the Soviet bloc, defines the term this way in his book “Disinformation” (co-authored with Professor Ronald Rychlak, to be published in early 2013 by WND Books): “Disinformation is as different from misinformation as night is from day. Misinformation, is an official government tool and recognizable as such,” he says. “Disinformation (i.e., dezinformatsiya) is a secret intelligence tool, intended to bestow a Western, non-government cachet on government lies.”

To illustrate, he offers an example: “Let us assume that the FSB (the new KGB) fabricated some documents supposedly proving that American military forces were under specific orders to target Islamic houses of worship in their bombing raids over Libya in 2011. If a report on those documents were published in an official Russian news outlet, that would be misinformation, and people in the West might rightly take it with a grain of salt and simply shrug it off as routine Moscow propaganda. If, on the other hand, that same material were made public in the Western media and attributed to some Western organization, that would be disinformation, and the story’s credibility would be substantially greater.”

OK, so “disinformation” is what you call it when intentional misinformation is clandestinely conveyed to “respectable” sources – primarily the Western press – to “launder” the misinformation and make it “clean” for public consumption.

In fact, the concept of “laundering” (as in “money laundering”) is such a good metaphor for understanding how disinformation works in modern America, it’ll be helpful to quickly recall what money laundering actually entails – basically three steps: 1) “Placement” – tainted money is introduced into a financial institution; 2) “Layering” – the institution performs a series of complex transactions designed to camouflage the original source; 3) “Integration” – the formerly dirty money, now “clean,” is free to spend.

One can readily see how this same process applies to the “laundering” of “dirty” information: 1) misinformation is introduced to a respected journalism organization; 2) the media organization showcases the misinformation in a “news report,” camouflaging its original source; 3) the public receives the laundered misinformation in the form of apparently “clean” (credible) news, i.e., disinformation.

Read one of the most mind-boggling issues of Whistleblower ever – titled “DISINFORMATION AGE” – produced with the help of the highest intelligence official ever to defect from the Soviet bloc, Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa.

In short, every time our supposedly free and independent press broadcasts misleading propaganda from an undisclosed source as though it were originally researched, fair-and-balanced reporting – that’s disinformation, just as in the days of Soviet communist treachery.

Believe it or not, what is being described here has long been, and remains to this day, standard operating procedure with the “elite media” in America. And it occurs in two very distinct ways.

The first way is the classic disinformation campaign, whereby major media in the U.S. carry water for foreign dictators. One of the most infamous examples involved the New York Times’ former Moscow bureau chief, Walter Duranty.

In the early ’30s, Stalin ordered his military to confiscate all of Ukraine’s food and then sealed her borders to prevent any outside sustenance from getting in, thereby intentionally starving an estimated 7 million men, women and children to death.

How did the New York Times report on this unprecedented genocidal famine? In his stories, Duranty not only denied the Ukraine famine was induced by communists – he denied anyone was dying of starvation at all! Idolizing Stalin and describing him as “the world’s greatest living statesman,” Duranty was thrilled to be granted the first American interview with this mass-murdering psychopathic dictator.

As we’ll soon see, even today this is the way of things with the establishment media, who will sell their souls for “access” to those at the pinnacle of power.

For his outrageously biased reporting, Duranty won a Pulitzer Prize. Decades later, spurred by widespread calls that the Pulitzer board revoke Duranty’s award, even the New York Times bemoaned their reporter’s “largely uncritical recitation of Soviet sources” and confessed that Duranty’s articles constituted “some of the worst reporting to appear in this newspaper.” (But his Pulitzer was never revoked.)

Another even more notorious example of the U.S. media being used in a classic communist disinformation campaign involved press coverage of the Vietnam War. Gen. Pacepa highlighted this issue for the current generation during the 2004 presidential contest between the incumbent commander in chief, George W. Bush, and Sen. John Kerry, who was evoking his “heroic” Vietnam service as a major campaign theme. Writing in National Review, Pacepa said:

On April 12, 1971, Kerry told the U.S. Congress that American soldiers claimed to him that they had, “raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned on the power, cut off limbs, blew up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan.”

The exact sources of that assertion should be tracked down. … Or did Senator Kerry merely hear allegations of that sort as hearsay bandied about by members of antiwar groups (much of which has since been discredited)? To me, this assertion sounds exactly like the disinformation line that the Soviets were sowing worldwide throughout the Vietnam era. KGB priority No. 1 at that time was to damage American power, judgment, and credibility. One of its favorite tools was the fabrication of such evidence as photographs and “news reports” about invented American war atrocities. These tales were purveyed in KGB-operated magazines that would then flack them to reputable news organizations. Often enough, they would be picked up. News organizations are notoriously sloppy about verifying their sources. All in all, it was amazingly easy for Soviet-bloc spy organizations to fake many such reports and spread them around the free world.

As a spy chief and a general in the former Soviet satellite of Romania, I produced the very same vitriol Kerry repeated to the U.S. Congress almost word for word and planted it in leftist movements throughout Europe. KGB chairman Yuri Andropov managed our anti-Vietnam War operation. He often bragged about having damaged the U.S. foreign-policy consensus, poisoned domestic debate in the U.S., and built a credibility gap between America and European public opinion through our disinformation operations. Vietnam was, he once told me, “our most significant success.”

Fast-forward to the modern era. And let’s set aside, for the moment, U.S. media channeling of the hard-edged, intimidating, nuclear-tipped communist threat of yesteryear, as illustrated in the previous two examples.

For there has long been a second front in this same war against Western Judeo-Christian Civilization by atheistic Marxism. It’s known by various labels, including “cultural Marxism,” “neo-Marxism” and the “progressive agenda.”

Some trace this more evolutionary (as opposed to revolutionary) Marxist agenda to the Frankfurt School, or to influential Marxist Antonio Gramsci (who strategized a “long march through the institutions” whereby America’s major institutions would be gradually infiltrated and subverted by the left). Some trace it to the ’60s “cultural revolution,” when the radical left literally spilled out onto America’s streets, while university campuses gave rise to a host of radical new “liberation” movements – “sexual,” “gay,” “black,” “women’s,” “animal” and others.

But regardless of its origins, what is undeniable is the result: Today virtually all major institutions in America – from our public school system and universities to our news and entertainment media to our foundations and philanthropies to our labor unions and even to many of our churches – and, of course, to our government itself – are largely controlled by the left, even while the American people remain overwhelmingly (at least 75 percent) center-right in politics and Judeo-Christian in worldview.

Also undeniable is that the absurdly misnamed “mainstream media” have been the primary “launderer” and force-multiplier of all of these transformative leftist agendas for at least a generation.

Here is just one example – which utterly transformed America.

‘We fed lies to the public through the media’

In my book "Marketing of Evil” I document a classic disinformation campaign. During the late 1960s, the pro-abortion-legalization group NARAL, co-founded by abortionist Dr. Bernard Nathanson, fed statistical fabrications and other intentional lies to the news media, which in turn published and broadcast the misinformation as though it were the result of their own journalistic research. The ultimate result was the legalization of abortion and – so far – over 50 million dead babies in America.

In our interview, Nathanson (who had by that time experienced a profound change of heart and embraced a pro-life worldview) told me an extraordinary story of how he and a handful of pro-legalization colleagues successfully exploited a biased, lazy and corrupt American press:

“In 1968, I met Lawrence Lader. Lader had just finished a book called ‘Abortion,’ and in it had made the audacious demand that abortion should be legalized throughout the country. I had just finished a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and was impressed with the number of women who were coming into our clinics, wards and hospitals suffering from illegal, infected, botched abortions.

“Lader and I were perfect for each other. We sat down and plotted out the organization now known as NARAL. With Betty Friedan, we set up this organization and began working on the strategy.”

“We persuaded the media that the cause of permissive abortion was a liberal, enlightened, sophisticated one,” recalls the movement’s co-founder. “Knowing that if a true poll were taken, we would be soundly defeated, we simply fabricated the results of fictional polls. We announced to the media that we had taken polls and that 60 percent of Americans were in favor of permissive abortion. This is the tactic of the self-fulfilling lie. Few people care to be in the minority. We aroused enough sympathy to sell our program of permissive abortion by fabricating the number of illegal abortions done annually in the U.S. The actual figure was approaching 100,000, but the figure we gave to the media repeatedly was 1 million.

“Repeating the big lie often enough convinces the public. The number of women dying from illegal abortions was around 200-250 annually. The figure we constantly fed to the media was 10,000. These false figures took root in the consciousness of Americans, convincing many that we needed to crack the abortion law.

“Another myth we fed to the public through the media was that legalizing abortion would only mean that the abortions taking place illegally would then be done legally. In fact, of course, abortion is now being used as a primary method of birth control in the U.S. and the annual number of abortions has increased by 1,500 percent since legalization.”

NARAL’s deceitful disinformation campaign, bolstered by fraudulent “research,” was uncannily successful. In New York, the law outlawing abortion had been on the books for 140 years, and yet, recalled Nathanson, “In two years of work, we at NARAL struck that law down.”

“We lobbied the legislature, we captured the media, we spent money on public relations. … Our first year’s budget was $7,500. Of that, $5,000 was allotted to a public relations firm to persuade the media of the correctness of our position. That was in 1969.”

New York immediately became the abortion capital for the eastern half of the United States.

“We were inundated with applicants for abortion,” says Nathanson. “To that end, I set up a clinic, the Center for Reproductive and Sexual Health (C.R.A.S.H.), which operated in the east side of Manhattan. It had 10 operating rooms, 35 doctors, 85 nurses. It operated seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to midnight. We did 120 abortions every day in that clinic. At the end of the two years that I was the director, we had done 60,000 abortions. I myself, with my own hands, have done 5,000 abortions. I have supervised another 10,000 that residents have done under my direction. So I have 75,000 abortions in my life. Those are pretty good credentials to speak on the subject of abortion.”

Thanks to the media’s complicity, what would have been a legitimate news story – “Pro-abortion group claims legalization will save lives” – instead mutated, through the magic of media lie-laundering, into: “Studies prove legalized abortion will save lives.”

Just as Marxist disinformation in the Soviet Bloc led to millions of deaths, so has American disinformation, thanks to the complicity of the media.

What the press did to advance abortion legalization, it has likewise done with the other parts of the left’s agenda – from moral issues like “sexual freedom” and “gay rights” to today’s absurd legal interpretation of “separation of church and state” and the resulting denigration and even demonization of the Christian religion in American life.

‘Barack Obama does not approve this message’

In the former Soviet Union – a vast totalitarian state whose middle name was “deception” – news and information put out by the government or the Communist Party were almost always, by definition, “misinformation.”

When those same lies were disseminated through the Soviet press, the effect on the public was much the same as if the information had come directly from the government – because it had. The “Soviet press” was, after all, just a sham, a propaganda ministry for the government, and everyone knew it. Those who lived through the Cold War era remember the two primary Soviet newspapers – Pravda (“Truth”) and Izvestia (“News”) – and the endlessly repeated joke: “There is no truth in Pravda, and there is no news in Izvestia.”

In the same way, today’s giant Xinhua News Agency, China’s largest media organization with 10,000-plus employees and over 100 foreign bureaus, is known to answer directly to the Communist Party of China. So no clear-thinking person takes Xinhua’s “news” seriously, nor is any “laundering” of government information taking place, because no one – in the West, anyway – has any illusions as to what such “news organizations” really represent.

However, the notion that America’s “mainstream press” may likewise have devolved into little more than a propaganda ministry for the U.S. government – similar to the sham “news media” in other parts of the world – is deeply troubling.

Yet consider what was recently reported in – of all places – the New York Times.

In a July 16, 2012, story headlined “Latest Word on the Trail? I Take It Back,” Times reporter Jeremy Peters revealed the Faustian bargain most of today’s national print journalists have quietly made with the government: In return for access and interviews with top leaders and advisers, they have agreed the White House can rewrite their stories before publication!

You read that right: Once news organizations submit their story drafts to White House revisionists, writes Peters, “the quotations come back redacted, stripped of colorful metaphors, colloquial language and anything even mildly provocative.”

“Most reporters,” he explains, “desperate to pick the brains of the president’s top strategists, grudgingly agree. After the interviews, they review their notes, check their tape recorders and send in the juiciest sound bites for review. The verdict from the campaign – an operation that prides itself on staying consistently on script – is often no, Barack Obama does not approve this message.”

How widespread is this practice? “From Capitol Hill to the Treasury Department, interviews granted only with quote approval have become the default position,” writes Peters. “Quote approval is standard practice for the Obama campaign, used by many top strategists and almost all mid-level aides in Chicago and at the White House – almost anyone other than spokesmen who are paid to be quoted. (And sometimes it applies even to them.) It is also commonplace throughout Washington and on the campaign trail.”

Most reporters the Times interviewed spoke only off the record. But Major Garrett, formerly with Fox News and now a correspondent for The National Journal, said, “It’s not something I’m particularly proud of because there’s a part of me that says, Don’t do it, don’t agree to their terms.”

Yet, wrote Peters, “it was difficult to find a news outlet that had not agreed to quote approval, albeit reluctantly. Organizations like Bloomberg, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, Reuters and The New York Times have all consented to interviews under such terms.”

As a result, although the public believes it is reading what politicians have actually said in news stories, they are not.

“Jim Messina, the Obama campaign manager, can be foul-mouthed,” wrote Peters. “But readers would not know it because he deletes the curse words before approving his quotes. Brevity is not a strong suit of David Plouffe, a senior White House adviser. So he tightens up his sentences before giving them the OK.”

Get the picture? You’re a reporter, you interview an administration official, you even have the quote captured on tape, but you can’t report it unless the White House Press Office approves the quote, edits it or gives you a new one.

As we saw earlier with Walter Duranty, journalists are routinely tempted to sell their souls for “access” to those at the pinnacle of power.

Ironically, one silver lining in the increasingly fraudulent and corrupt nature of America’s elite media is that disinformation will – by definition – almost certainly diminish. Why is that? Because disinformation depends on the news media laundering the lies being widely respected and believed. But the big media in today’s America are becoming barely more respected and believable than were their Soviet counterparts a generation ago.

Sandy agonizes over this decision and others that follow, receiving advice from her parents, friends, aunt and boyfriend, but ultimately having to make the choice herself.  And as I read, I was right there with her.  What choices would I have made in her shoes?  What choices would I want my daughter to make?

In Part II, we find Sandy, 33 years later.  Whitlow shows how the choice she made as a 17 year old has impacted the rest of her life.  Now Sandy is a teacher, and wants to help Maria, a young girl from a troubled family who is pregnant and facing the same choices that Sandy once had to make.  But the school counselor doesn’t appreciate Sandy’s interference.

Whitlow has written an engrossing story, with his legal prowess showing in the second half of the book.  While the first half is fairly straightforward with only a few surprises, the second half offers many twists and turns on its way to a satisfying conclusion.
