Ben Barnes (Stardust (2007), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian(2008)) interpretará Dorian, o jovem de beleza estonteante que após ter noção desta através de um quadro pintado por seu amigo Basil e pelas palavras instigadoras de Lord Henry, se perde apaixonadamente pela própria beleza e deseja do fundo de seu coração mantê-la para sempre. Forças desconhecidas tornam este desejo realidade e fazem com que seu quadro envelheça e fique  horroroso a cada “pecado” cometido, mantendo a beleza e juventude de Dorian pela eternidade.

The Picture of Dorian Gray carrega uma grande carga biográfica devido a crítica social que Oscar Wilde faz a sociedade do século XIX. Pessoas que escondem suas perversões, traições amorosas e uso de pessoas para chegar a objetivos egoístas atrás das máscaras sociais são claramente identificadas na obra, tornando-a universal e atemporal. Prince Caspian gets 5 masks because out of all the books in the series, this one has the best plot and a unique cast of characters. Also, C. S. Lewis adds  a lot of creativity into this book which makes it great to read. The twist between fantasy and medieval times makes the series great to read.

I’ve been reflecting a bit on the nature of this topic, which has been recently brought back into the spotlight by Regina Doman and her fantastic works, The Fairy Tale Novels. though this isn’t hasn’t been the first time such an idea was presented.  C.S. Lewis incorporated this essential idea in his Chronicles of Narnia Series.

What is actually meant by the idea of Kings and Queens in Disguise? (Or in the Fairy Tale Novels “Princess in Disguise” is used since the main characters are, after the fairytales, Snow White, Rose Red, and Sleeping Beauty.)  Often enough, the secular world gets a hold of the idea and transforms it into a marketing gimmick towards girls; while in reality, it is something more, focusing deeply on the roots of our Catholic Faith.  The idea of the Dignity of the Human Person, from Conception to Natural Death.

Man was made in the image and likeness of God.  He was given the ability to reason.  He was given a soul.  These things are what separate us from the Animal Creation, bringing us to a higher level of dignity.

Lewis’ Narnia Series focuses on this idea, as the Narnian Prophecy clearly states that Two Sons of Adam and Two Daughters of Eve are meant to rule the throne.  Explicitly denying all other able

creatures from the right to ascend the Throne.  This includes the White Witch, who not human, is a pretender to the throne.

Focusing on Lewis’ ideas, we find that mankind is elevated to a much higher level than all the fantastic creatures in the world of Narnia.  Which is a reflection of the dignity with which God has created us.  In the course of receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, man is adopted as a ‘child of God,’ thus rendering us heirs to the kingdom of heaven.

The idea of the Kingship of Christ is what presides in this matter, that Christ is our Eternal and Loving King, while we are His ‘Children’, His heirs to the beauty and glory of that which ‘eye has not seen, nor ear hath heard.’

With our dignity being raised from the level of a simple man to that of Divine Royalty, we must ask the question: What is to be expected us of?

In ardent reflection we find that we are called to strive in the footsteps of the Divine King, exercising the love, compassion, and charity which all good kings practice.  Another important factor of this mentality is viewing fellow souls in the light of their divine elevation, that we all are kinds and queens in disguise.  How much honor, respect, and love ought we show one another if such a thing is true?  And it is true!  We are Kings and Queens in Disguise, and with this great honor, comes the duty to shine forth as a shining example of Christian Chivalry to the world.

Just on a side note, I will be heading to the Get Together at the Doman Residence in Virginia, and if all goes according to plan, I will be picking up my own copy of the series.  I may possible write a rather ‘moral’ review of the stories than a general plot summary, with some possible interweaving of the theme of this post with a more detailed review of Regina’s works.

Foi confirmado oficialmente que os estúdios Disney não produzirão o filme “Crônicas de Nárnia 3”. O longa que encerraria a trilogia foi descartado pela Disney por ter apresentado uma forte queda de popularidade.

O primeiro filme rendeu aos cofres do estúdio cerca de 745 milhões de dólares de bilheteria em todo o mundo, já Crônicas de Nárnia 2, arrecadarou apenas 420 milhões de dólares. Com essa escala decrescente, imagine a terceira produção de Nárnia!

O longa Crônicas de Nárnia 3 seria produzido através de uma parceria entre os estúdios Disney e produtora Walden Media, para o ano de 2010.

Bom, fato é que os fãs da saga literária do escritor irlandês C.S. Lewis terão que se contentar com as duas primeiras produções. Que pena o cancelamento de Crônicas de Nárnia 3.

Before the Valentines’ Day, I was watching Korean Drama which is now telecast in Channel U on the weekdays 1900 – 2000.  Finally I had completed the drama within two day with 22 episodes  in total. Upcoming next, will be my movie marathon.

Valentines’ Day is nothing special for me. So neither for this year, 2009. Been home the whole day until evening, I shared my loves with my family.

After which, I was back home once again. Having movie marathon from 1515  all the way till 0200 , February 15 2009 with interval of breaks, as i went out dinner with my family.  Completed few movies then. Well, not to doubt me, I did do my revision while having my movie and drama marathon.

I started with my first movie The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Aint that bad , though it was quite some time ago.  However, I took quite some time to complete the movie, as I was out around 1600 and back around 1700 and join my parents for dinner. We ‘d takeaway after queueing for near to 45 minutes of food.

After my dinner, later of the night, I continued watching the movie and my movie marathon as well. After that, I watch Fit lovers.

Fit lover is a Hong Kong directed movie, acted by Karena Lam. It was about, a lady who was always ain’t in her luck of finding her true love. So one day, she met a guy that told her that, she had to undergo twelve  different types of relationship in terms of different astrological signs and characteristics. After which on her twelfth relationship would then be a successful one.

I was thinking to myself then. Would i also need to undergo twelve relationship, then I would be able to find my Mr Right?

Michael Apted (The World is Not Enough) takes over the directors chair from Andrew Adamson (Shrek), who will serve as a producer.  Returning as the Pevensie children are Georgie Henley as Lucy and Skandar Keynes as Edmund. Ben Barnes (Easy Virtue, Dorian Gray) reprises the role of Caspian. Cousin Eustace will be played by UK native Will Poulter (Son of Rambow).

Obviously one thing is clear:  Everyone that voted was a girl between the ages of 10 and 20.  It’s a good thing that these awards are just fluff and fun to watch, because I literally disagreed with every winner.  Like “The Climb”?  Mily Cyrus does not have a good voice.  There is a reason her dad was a one hit wonder.  Also…best fight?  Come on.  

And, as far as best movie goes, Twilight only beats High School Musical 3.  It doesn’t matter how you look at it.  The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Slumdog Millionaire all made more money, which means more people went to see it, and got higher ratings on rottentomatoes, which means more people liked it, and were nominated for more Oscars, which means it was well made.  What do you guys think?

I always love it when British films do well, so that they stormed the box office in 2008 is just brilliant !!!

Batman and James Bond helped make 2008 a bumper year for U.K. movies – British films raked in more than $3.75 billion (£2.5 billion) at the global box office last year.

The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, was the top earner, with just over $1 billion (£666 million) in sales and Quantum Of Solace took $576 million (£384 million) worldwide.

Abba movie musical Mamma Mia!, featuring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, also proved a box office smash, taking $602 million (£401 million) since its release in July.

Other Brit films in the top 10 earners of 2008 include fantasy film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian which took $419 million (£279 million) and The Other Boleyn Girl, starring Natalie Portman, which garnered $75 million (£50 million).
