Remember how I said that Ho Quynh Huong’s movie was revealed to only be directed by a Korean director with no intentions of being released anywhere else other than VietNam? Well I lied.

Latest updates say that this Korean action movie “The Contract” starring Vietnamese pop singer Ho Quynh Huong will be released in Vietnam and South Korea early 2010.

At a show held on the inauguration ceremony of The Garden Mall in Hanoi last week, Huong said the movie – which marks her first step into the movie industry – was finished.

The singer has never acted in a Vietnamese film so far and her leading role in the Korean movie came as a surprise.

“I worked very hard to do martial arts for this action movie,” said Huong who plays a sexy, cold-faced assassin.

“I exercised everyday to make my body more sensual.”

The 28-year-old singer added she acted with a handsome Korean man who grew up in the US.

Huong said the Korean director chose her because of her eyes, but she declined to unveil any more details about the film until its release.

She is now waiting for her latest album “Nang Luong/Energy” to be released in China and Korea, adding she has had a lot of support on her tours to both countries.

In a recent press conference, she announces that this action flick she is to star in, is titled “Bản hợp đồng/The Contract” and will be released nationwide in VietNam , due in time of Tet 2010–another Tet movie to kindof look forward to. Well, so much for any hopes of seeing her make a fool of herself in an actual Korean-language film…not that we were hoping that she would or anything. With all the attention that Johnny & Ngo Thanh Van’s action flick “Clash” has been receiving, though, we just can’t help but wonder if “The Contract” will even be able to compete in this genre.

Post “The Contract”, Huong’s latest album “Nang Luong/Energy” will finally hit China and Korea…which I guess we will also be awaiting for. But for now, may luck bestow upon her. She’ll definitely need it.

I think we might’ve mentioned the first book on this blog, previously (and if we haven’t, you will definitely find a Bookmark post on it within the week). The sequel, Red Seas Under Red Skies is just as awesome, and boy do I mean AWEsome! So, you’d think Lucid would be dying to see for herself, wouldn’t you? Except, that ass of a girl seems to have vowed not to read ANYthing** I recommend in the same year that I do (go figure!). This time, though, she promised me she’d read it and accepted my generous deadline. This was last Saturday.It has been a week.Has she read it? NO. Why has she not read it? Because she (and here I quote)  “Watched a Cricket match” , “C’mon, went to bed early!” and to top it all off..READ ANOTHER BOOK ( that I had  expressly forbidden her to read without finishing this one, first.).

Would YOU wantonly associate with this girl? Would you, I ask?! And yet, being the benevolent person I am, I did NOT reveal the ending as I’d threatened I would, if she didn’t read it on time. And what do I get in return? The girl lies. L-I-E-S. Yes, she LIES. She told me, she said, ” Oh, I read about 250 pages ” two days ago, and now? “Oh..Er..250 pages?”  after having read through the day.

SHOPPING:

Yesterday, Lucid and the other asses in my life along with myself went shopping for the biggest ass of the lot– A certain Sanjana, for anyone who cares for details– seeing as her birthday is coming up. And we bought her a dress ( Will post a pic later) because that is exactly what she wants.Apparently, though, this just wasn’t good enough, oh no! I had to try on 50-and-a-half dresses to satisfy them (I’m supposedly the closest in size). Not so terrible, you’d think –except I don’t do dresses. And just to add fuel to fire, they kept giggling outside of the changing room and making the kind of comments that I cannot repeat in good conscience.**** Sanj had better buy me a freaking MANSION in return, that’s what!

So you want me to sign a contract? No way? What are you tying to pull?

No I am not asking you to sign anything.  This page is just a list of basic principles that we need to agree on to even have our discussions.  I will refer to this page often, so look over it an if any of these points are unacceptable to you, pray about that point.  If you still cannot agree to the point, then this site is probably not for you.  But, as with most discussions, there are some basic precepts that have to be agreed upon to have a productive interaction.

To put in another way, if I was a doctor (I am not) and I was debating with another doctor about the best coarse of treatment for a particular patient, we would not get anywhere if we didn’t agree to some basic givens.

Me: Dr Brown, the patient’s blood tests seem to point to leukemia.

Dr. Brown:  I don’t agree.

Me. But look at the tests.

Dr. Brown:  I don’t believe that those tests are reliable.

Me: Do you want to do the tests again, because I agree that humans can make mistakes when performing these tests?

Dr. Brown: No, even if the tests were done perfect, I don’t agree the tests can tell us about the patients health in anyway.

Me: So we are at a standstill because all my arguments are based on these reliable test.

See the issue?  Unless the doctors fist agree, which most implicitly do, on basic medical ‘fact’ and procedure, the most important part of their job, diagnosing a patient, will be futile.

That is what I am attempting in the points below.  I may add to them as we go and I need to be careful to what I include here as you can imagine.  When I put something here, I am really saying, “These points are not going to debatable here, they are fact.”  I you want to debate these points, this is the wrong site.

1. The bible is the word of God written and compiled by His Holy Spirit, and every word is there for a reason.

This is prime.  We have to agree on the basis of our points.  If you believe that the bible is good but subject to error.  Then all the points you don’t want to face, we be chalked up to the “erroneous” part of the bible.  We have to trust that the creator can get to us His word in an accurate form.  Even if He didn’t, He is just, and we will be help accountable for what we have.  The bible is one of the things we have.  So even if there was an error, how can we be held responsible for an error in the word?  So if not in fact, practically we need to proceed as if it was perfect. 

Please be patient with the word.  There is so much error in our religion, that it seems the bible is full of contradictions.  I think it is because we are hanging on to tradition and maybe don’t want to give Him everything.  These contradictions will fall away as we let go of tradition and open ourselves to whatever it says.

I am not saying there are not thing outside the bible that are true.  That would be silly.  All I am saying is that if it isn’t in the word, we shouldn’t waste too much time on it.

2. Jesus is the Lord, Messiah, Christ, Anointed.  The only way to the Father.

I am not here to discuss this.  There are plenty of other places to have that conversation.

3.  We need to use the bible to interpret the bible.

This is probably the most violate principle in christianity.  As I see it, there are three methods we use to alter the word of God to fit our tradition.

A. We use the history around a verse.   This would be awful if God required us to know what was going on in the culture to understand His word.  Mainly because we can’t be sure how the culture was that long ago.  Really.  We can’t.  And if the word is based on our understanding of history, then the word of God is flawed and not useful.

B.  Using Hebrew and Greek tenses to prove doctrine (on its own.) 

If you think about it, this is the same problem as in A.  This would make our understanding of the God’s word based on our knowledge of very old languages.  And some of grammar rules, especially in the Greek, are not known to scholars and they have guessed on their application,for the most part.

C.  Coming to the conclusion that, “There are some things we just can’t understand on this side of death.”

This one I really dislike.  So we spend all our time plowing through God’s word, and walk away with its not knowable?  How do you like that?  I think if something is not knowable then we won’t be held accountable.  So lets not waste out time on it.  When it comes to things, like ‘how tall are angels.’ or ‘what will be the size of the new earth?’ then I agree.  It may be fun to muse about, but don’t waste a bible study on it.  But with things like the relation between works and grace and the law, or how do we attain to the resurrection out from the dead, we must dig until we have the answer.  These are the pillars of our salvation and they have to be worked out with fear and trembling.  To say that these thing are unknowable usually means that our tradition is contradicting God’s word, and one has to go.  Which one?

Please remember, I am not saying that these 3 items are unusable, I am only saying that if you hold a doctrine or belief that only has A and/or B and/or C as its support.  Kick out the support and let it fall.  It seems to be useless.

i like apocalypto. it is a rare movie that will keep me glued to my seat and not pause and run to the kitchen for more food and drink replenishment. and seeing this movie made me stick to the movie until the end without any food break.
