Bueno, tenía que pasar. Las expectativas para el episodio especial de dos horas de Smallville,  Absolute Justice eran bastante altas y ahora serán algo más razonables ya que dos de los personajes principales lucen……realmente ridículos.

Al principio pense que nos esperaba una grata sorpresa en los disfraces de los personajes pero al parecer los problemas de presupuesto o la simple ineptitud de los diseñadores los han llevado a producir dos trajes que parecen comprados en rebajas de una tienda de disfraces.

Lamentablemente esto no parece ser el fin para ese zombie que es Smallville el cual continúa arrastrándose temporada tras temporada sin hacer nada remotamente interesante ni inteligente con sus personajes .  Una de dos, o arreglan el show o le dan el tiro de gracia, porque este sufrimiento ya no puede extenderse más. ¿O sí?.

Sinopse

Jared Padalecki, Personagem Sam.

Sam (Jared Padalecki) nasceu em 2 de maio de 1983, filho de John Winchester e Mary Winchester em Lawrence, Kansas. Ele é o filho caçula do casal tendo um irmão quatro anos mais velho, Dean Winchester.

Sam é diferente de seu irmão mais velho, é sensível, racional, mais inocente, e aparentemente mais preocupado em ter uma “vida normal” do que seu irmão; apesar disso, fica claro que ele faria qualquer coisa por Dean. Ele também revolta-se contra a tentativa de seu pai de transformá-lo em um caçador e matricula-se na Universidade de Stanford.

Quando Dean vai até Sam e pede ajuda no primeiro episódio, a namorada de Sam, Jessica, é apresentada aos espectadores. É evidente que Sam era de alguma forma popular, apesar de ninguém saber o que sua família realmente faz. O apelido “Sammy” foi dado a ele por seu pai, embora ninguém além de Dean é permitido chamá-lo assim. Sam indica isso no episódio da 1ª temporada “A Familia Bender”, quando um homem o chama de Sammy, ele furiosamente responde que o seu nome é Sam. O caçador Gordon Walker também o chama de Sammy no episódio “Sede de Sangue”, sendo que Sam, irritado, explica que Dean é o único que pode chamá-lo assim.

Devido ao seu caráter gentil e sua vontade de ter uma vida normal, Sam é mais cuidadoso com as mulheres e por isso tem mais interesse em romances do que Dean, como por exemplo, os que teve com Jessica, Sarah Blake e Madison.

Quando Sam tinha apenas seis meses de idade (Novembro 02, 1983), sua mãe foi assassinada enquanto estava próxima ao seu berço pelo demônio Azazel. Ele foi salvo por seu irmão mais velho Dean, enquanto seu pai tentava salvar Mary, que estava presa ao teto do quarto e sendo consumida pelo fogo, que acabou se espalhando por toda a casa.

Vinte e dois anos depois, Azazel também mata sua namorada Jessica da mesma maneira, levando Sam a embarcar em uma jornada com seu irmão para tentar achar seu pai e matar Azazel. Enquanto John, está desaparecido, ele ocasionalmente entra em contato com os seus filhos para lhes dar tarefas. Os irmãos lidam com criaturas míticas, lendas urbanas e folclore, como o wendigo, a mulher de branco e Bloody Mary. Nesta época, Sam começa a apresentar sinais de precognição e por uma vez demonstra ter poderes de telecinese.

O episódio final da primeira temporada conclui com Sam, Dean e seu pai escapando de uma terrível colisão com Azazel. Enquanto Sam está levando seu pai e seu irmão gravemente ferido para um hospital, um caminhão dirigido por um homem possuído por um demônio colide com eles. Na segunda Temporada fica bem claro os Planos que o demônio tinha para Sam, e só é descoberto o Motivo Real desses planos na Quinta Temporada, onde Sam seria o Receptáculo de Lúcifer.

Jensen Ackles, Personagem Dean.

Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), nascido em 24 de Janeiro de 1979 em Lawrence é filho mais velho de John e Mary Winchester. Dean tinha apenas quatro anos quando seu pai o salvou do misterioso incêndio que matou sua mãe. Em sua memória ficaram o rosto da mãe e as histórias que seu pai lhe contava, além do desejo de destruir a criatura que arrancou a vida de sua mãe.

Ele sempre foi o responsável pela casa, ainda quando criança, quando seu pai saia para caçadas misteriosas, cuidando de Sam, seu irmão mais novo. Portanto, desde muito cedo, Dean teve participação ativa na construção da família Winchester, abdicando de uma infância normal, encarregando-se do peso familiar, e responsabilidades decorrentes. Ao contrário de Sam (no início da série), Dean sempre aceitou os negócios da família e ele está disposto a tudo para conseguir descobrir a verdade sobre sua família, junto com Sam, com quem não tinha contato há quatro anos.

No primeiro episódio, intitulado “Piloto”, Dean invade a casa de Sam, que havia ido embora para tentar a faculdade, e os dois saem para procurar o pai que saiu para uma caçada e até então está desaparecido. Ao voltar, Jessica, a namorada de Sam, é morta da mesma forma que sua mãe. É portanto o início de uma longa jornada para Dean e Sam, pelas estradas dos Estados Unidos e redondezas, em busca de respostas e soluções, seguindo rastros de criaturas sobrenaturais, e destruindo-as. É a forma que ambos encontram para vingar as suas perdas pessoais, causadas pela mesma criatura.

Durante toda a série, Dean é ícone singular devido ao seu senso de humor, muitas vezes sarcástico. A fama de conquistador também é marca registrada do personagem. Mesmo posando de bad boy e jeito durão, Dean tem uma grande preocupação com o que sobrou de sua família e por isso se sente responsável por todos.

Na primeira temporada, os dois personagens principais (Dean e Sam) caçam coisas malignas juntos. Na segunda temporada, Sam assume o papel mais central da série, devido a descoberta de seus poderes “especiais”. É na terceira temporada, porém, que Dean se mostra como centro da série. A terceira temporada gira principalmente em torno dos dois procurarem, inutilmente, evitar que Dean vá ao inferno, e portanto, ele é mais centralizado nos episódios. A quarta temporada é de igual importância para os dois personagens, com Sam voltando a ser mais central. E a quinta temporada, ainda em andamento, traz um Dean mais consciente devido aos recentes acontecimentos, e ao início do Apocalipse, iniciado por ele mesmo ao quebrar o primeiro dos 66 selos necessários para libertar Lúcifer (quando ele vira torturador no inferno – os espectadores ficam sabendo na quarta temporada), e continuado por Sam ao quebrar o último selo (a morte de Lilith). Na quinta Temporada é descoberto o Motivo Real da Sua libertação do inferno, que seria em derrotar Lúcifer. Mas esse não seria o Dean, pois os Anjos Querem Dean para que Seja o Receptáculo de Miguel (Um anjo capaz de derrotar Lúcifer).

John Winchester

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Personagem John.

John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), nasceu em 1954. Desde que sua mulher foi assassinada de uma forma sobrenatural, John vem procurando o demônio que a matou há muito tempo e acabou se tornou um caçador famoso por ajudar as pessoas a se livrarem de seres que assombravam cidades, casas ou que matavam pessoas. No entanto, também angariou durante esse meio tempo muitos inimigos. Muito do passado de John está sendo revelado aos poucos (leia a HQ Supernatural: Origins para saber mais) durante a série. Infelizmente, assim como sua esposa, John acaba morrendo pelas mãos do mesmo demônio.

Everybody Hates Chris – UPN/The CW – 4 Seasons (88 Episodes) – USA

In 2005 UPN launched Love, Inc., Everybody Hates Chris and Sex, Love & Secrets (which was originally titled Sex, Lies & Secrets). Two out of those three titles play on better known titles. This really has nothing to do with anything, but will the title Everybody Hates Chris still be clever in five years time? Sure, back in 2005 Everybody Loves Raymond was at the top of the sitcom heap, but it’s nearly 2010 and I wonder: if Everybody Hates Chris was made today would it be titled Two & A Half Chris? What about ten years ago, would it have been called No Friends?

This pilot was the first experience I ever had of Everybody Hates Chris. I don’t know why I never got around to this Chris Rock created comedy, but it’s just never landed in my viewing box. Welcoming us to Brooklyn in 1982 is the voice of Chris Rock, who says that when he turned thirteen he thought becoming a teenager would be awesome before quickly finding out that it’s not. This sets up a loose retelling of the life of a young Chris Rock.

Chris has to travel all the way across town to an all white school because his parents don’t want him going to the nearby middle school. As Chris wonders what’s so bad about his local school we hear gun shots and future Chris quips: “Much like Rock ‘n Roll school shootings were also invented by blacks and stolen by the white man.” Everybody Hates Chris is filled with so many quotable lines that I’m just going to quote a few of them out of context right here:

“My mother hated ‘raggedy’. She always said it was better to be poor and neat than rich and raggedy… I think she said that because we were poor.”

“Mum didn’t want dad to go to work hungry, because if he goes to work hungry then he’ll be grouchy and if he’s grouchy he might call his boss cracker, and if he calls his boss cracker then we’re livin’ in the projects again…”

And my favourite when Chris says: “Since I was the oldest I had to be the emergency adult.” And his dad offers three scenes of fatherly advice:

1)      “If you smell smoke and think the house is going to catch fire, get your brother and your sister and get out of here.”

2)      “If you smell gas and you think the house is going to blow up, get your brother and your sister and get out of here.”

3)      “If you smell smoke and your brother catches on fire, get your sister and get out of here.”

I could probably sit here quoting Everybody Hates Chris all day because this is a damn fine pilot. I know I’m late to the party, but this is really hilarious and I kind of hate myself for not finding that out sooner.

Why does EHC work as a pilot? It helps that the show is packed full of laughs, but more importantly it creates a fully formed world. Pushed along by the unique creative voice of Chris Rock Everybody Hates Chris builds itself a world you want to come back to every week. You can tell from the pilot that EHC has a lot of stories to tell. It jams so much into the first episode that you want to see where else this show is going to take you. While something like Hot Properties wheezed its way to its first set of closing credits you just know that Chris Rock has dozens more yarns to spin. It also comes from a very real place. His family is poor, they struggle to get by, his dad has to work two jobs, Chris gets a hard time at school. This isn’t Freddie where we get Freddie Prinze Jnr playing a successful restaurant owner who lives with his grandmother, sister, niece, and dead brother’s wife; this is real life.

Everybody Hates Chris also makes it pretty clear it isn’t going to pull any punches. The bully at Chris’ school calls him a nigger. This was 1982, and he was the only black kid at a school full of white people so he would have been called a nigger. I know Chris Rock doesn’t need me to sit here and say ‘well done on being true to yourself and your experiences’ but seriously good on them for being honest. That kid would have said ‘nigger’, and I know there must have been a dozen network meetings before they went ahead with airing it. Chris Rock obviously has a lot of pull around the UPN offices, because a lesser series with a lesser known creative force behind it would have never been given the go ahead.

EHC debuted to a 4.6 ratings share back in 2005 which is flat out amazing; not just because it was the biggest debut in UPN history but that number of viewers kicks the ass of everything but The Office on NBC’s Thursday night comedy block. 30 Rock would kill for EHC premiere numbers. I have to say even after having only seen one episode I’m disappointed that when The CW took over from UPN they did everything they could think of to destroy Everybody Hates Chris. If only they cared about making quality programming rather than just resurrecting the rotting corpse of Melrose Place they might get more viewers.

Everybody Hates Chris is the best pilot so far from the fall of 2005. Go figure that everybody back in 2005 was right… I know How I Met Your Mother is my favourite sitcom of the now but EHC has a funnier pilot than Mother. Then again, maybe I’d give them both up for another episode of Killer Instinct. I mean, he did have that instinct for killers that drove all the ladies wild.

‘Supernatural’ scoop: 100th episode will be heavy on mythology

Time flies when you’re battling demons and preventing apocalypses and stuff. Case in point:Supernatural will celebrate its milestone 100th episode this spring with an hour that focuses largely on Dean (Jensen Ackles).

“We’re aiming for it to be a big mythology episode,” reveals Supernatural boss Eric Kripke, adding that, “The Archangel Michael plays a very large part as we explore his relationship with Dean.”

After 13 seasons of America’s Next Top Model, I think it’s about that time the plug gets pulled. 13 young women who were promised the opportunity to be what Tyra Banks was in her hay-day, a top model. 13 winners, 13 beautiful women, 13 dreams materialized, and not 1 top model:

I’m sure all the winners, runner-up’s, and contestants have achieved some level of success in their own right, but again: NOT ONE TOP MODEL. Which is the basis of the show. It’s not America’s Next Mediocre Model, America’s Next Book-At-Least-One-Job-Per-Fashion-Week Model, America’s Next Damn-I-Can’t-Even-Get-A-Spread-In-Teen-Vogue? Model, it’s AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. Name one model, a winner, who has left the show to achieve prime fashion industry success. I’m talking about snatching up an ad campaign for Bottega Veneta, strutting in a Chanel show, at least being the new face of Movado watches! Baby Phat ad? Nothing? Not even a Rocawear endorsement? How about a perfume campaign? Damn it! Even Amber Rose has one of those (no shots fired)!

My thing is, if you can not do for these girls what you promised them to do, what they signed up to do, why bother? Tyra knows a thing or two about leaving the game on a high note, as she did with modeling. So instead of waiting until the show gets canceled due to a decline in viewership, just announce Season 14 as your last season, and develop a new fashion centered show. Where new opportunities are available, new promises are made, new standards are set. Instead of fueling this stigma of unrealistic perfection with a weight and height limit, why don’t you leave the physical requirements alone and base a fashion centered show on something a lot more substantial? Like a skill. No shots fired at you models who put work in to perfect your craft, props to y’all!

When I say a skill, I mean something substantial where there will be no physical limitations… like an editorial opportunity at a major fashion magazine. Or a chance to develop their own (online) magazine. A show centered around young designers (25 & under), and giving them the opportunity to apprentice with a major designer for like 6 months to learn the ropes. A competitive show for entrepreneurs trying to win money to start their own fashion business, the list and ideas and market potential goes on. The point I’m trying to make is, WE GET IT! The only person that doesn’t seem to get it is Tyra and the good ole’ folks over at the CW and Bankable Productions. Oh, and the models don’t get it either. The only thing they get is a short-run CoverGirl contract without the possibility of a renewal. Oh, and representation from a top agency that never books them jobs. Womp womp.

Tyra, if you’re reading this, understand that I’m only reiterating what I hear in coffee shops, book club meetings, round table discussions, chat room debates, and high school hallways. We’re sick of it. And if you really want to show young girls how it’s to be done, as far as being a model goes, show them something a little more realistic. ANTM’s challenges has become more irrelevant to the field of modeling than Diddy’s requirements from his aspiring Making The Band members. (I’m still trying to figure how walking to get cheesecake will transfer to record sales, wake me when we get there).

Tyra, I AM CHALLENGING YOU TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING FRESH, ORIGINAL, NEW, EXCITING, AND REALISTIC! I dare you to be great! Should you accept this challenge?

Preparando lo que será el ultimo episodio nuevo por varias semanas, la cadena The CW ha presentado varias promos oficiales del noveno episodio de la novena temporada de Smallville, llamado Pandora.

En este episodio, Tess (Cassidy Freeman) secuestra a Lois (Erica Durance) para descubrir a donde fue Lois cuando desapareció por varias semanas al final de la temporada pasada.

La memoria del futuro presenta a Metropolis bajo el control de Zod (Callum Blue) y Clark (Tom Welling) sin poderes debajo del sol rojo, mientras que Chloe (Allison Mack) forma una resistencia junto a Oliver (Justin Hartley).

Después de descubrir estos futuros eventos, Clark toma una decisión muy importante sobre Zod.

La temporada 9 de Smallville es presentada los viernes por The CW.

Sam y Dean visitan un pequeño pueblo en donde la gente es asesinada por personajes famosos que ya han muerto. Sin embargo los hermanos se encuentran algo que los desconcierta. Un par de adolescentes jura que han visto a Paris Hilton secuestrando a su amigo.

“The Personal cost of the Apocalypse for our boys is real. They will suffer in every possible way,” reveals executive producer Sera Gamble. Well, then, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) and their rebel angel ally Castiel (Misha Collins) better find the elusive God on the double. Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) will return to bedevil Sam, and we’ll finally get to meet the Evil One’s rival, Archangel Michael, despite his not having a body. (It seems only the understandably reluctant Dean can be his human host.) But it’s not all End of Days when Sam and Dean get involved in delicously hoary horror in several stand-alone episodes. First up, something terrifying is happening in an insane asylum, and that’s not good for the boys when they check themselves in — and can’t get out. • Monday’s One Tree Hill (2.6 million viewers) dropped ever so slightly and Gossip Girl (2.2 million viewers) dropped a bit more in the ratings compared to last week.
• Last night’s 90210 ( 2.1 million viewers) stayed the same in the ratings compared to last week.
• For some reason, this week (both Monday and Tuesday) The CW only had 94 percent coverage instead of 95 percent. But I’m not sure how much difference that actually makes in the ratings. I’ve been told it was 94 prior to this season so it’s possible that will be the norm again.
• The CW sent out a press release, however, touting this week’s ratings for all 3 shows, as well as how the network did overall during the sweeps period as well for this season in general compared to last year.
• It was comforting to read the comments on EW.com’s 90210 recap and see many other original fans with similar complaints to the Jackie-Kelly storyline as I have.
