The Doors meinten das zwar in einem wesentlich trostloserem Zusammenhang als ich, aber dieses Zitat passt doch hier ganz gut. Wenn man jeden Tag mit den Öffentlichen fährt, fallen einem ja eine Menge Dinge auf. Gute, schlechte, je nach eigener Laune, stelle ich fest. Selbst noch verschlafen stehe ich im Tram und lasse den Blick und die Gedanken schweifen. In den Ohren gerade zum Aufwachen irgendwas von den Ärzten. “Die Nacht”. Wie passend, wie ich sie zurücksehne. Und überall dieser mimische Leerlauf auf den Gesichtern der Leute um mich herum. Ja, Leerlauf. Jeder starrt irgendwo hin, nur bloß niemandem in die Augen. Was diese Menschen wohl denken? Will ich das wirklich wissen? Sehr seltsam, diese gezwungene Nähe, wenn das 43er Tram einmal wieder gestopft voll ist, weil es “Unregelmäßigkeiten auf der Strecke gibt” und in der Rush Hour wieder nur alle 10 Minuten eines kommt.

Der Herbst ging, der Winter kommt, auch wenn es sich gerade von den Temperaturen her nicht so anfühlt. Im Herzen ist er schon angekommen. Wenn wir sowieso schon verletzt sind, so tut doch jede noch so kleine Trübung der Harmonie doppelt weh. Zumindest ich werde dann immer hypersensibel. Schreckliche Sache, wenn man sowieso weiß, dass man es nicht so meint wie es rüberkam, und man eh wissen sollte, wie der oder die andere tickt und deshalb nicht so schnell einschnappen. Eh ja. Neue Bekanntschaften, neue Fettnäpfchen, sage ich nur. Alte Bekanntschaften, alte Fettnäpfchen. Meine Direktheit gereicht mir nicht immer zum Vorteil. Und doch kultiviere ich sie mit einer gewissen Penetranz. Denn was bliebe noch wenn die Ehrlichkeit nicht wäre? Ich schätze nur, Einstecken gehört dann zum Austeilen. In Ersterem war ich noch nie gut.

Zwischenmenschliches. Da fällt mir gleich der ganze Weihnachtszauber ein. Dies ist nun mein dritter Winter und Wien, und außerhalb des Punschstandes im FH-Innenhof (den es dieses Jahr leider nicht gibt) war ich genau ein Mal (in Ziffern 1 Mal) in Wien auf dem Weinachtsmarkt, und das war letztes Jahr am Spittelberg. Ich habe selbst den Christkindlmarkt am Rathaus bisher nur aus dem fahrenden Tram gesehen. Ja ich weiß. Ich kann halt einfach wirklich nicht mit Weihnachten. Um meinen vieleicht letzten Winter in Wien nun doch auszureizen, bin ich heute zum alten AKH gegangen und habe zwei verschiedene Punschvarianten probiert. Nun bin ich um die Kenntnis, dass ich eher ein Glühweinmensch bin, und um eine Portion Bauchschmerzen reicher. Aber was solls. Es war ja nett. Danke noch an die Damenbegleitung.

Ja, ich weiß, ich schreibe wieder genauso dilettantisch wie zu Anfang, und die Reisetagebucheinträge sind nun auch vorbei. Demnächst hier wieder nur intellektuell Wertvolles. Oder so.

POSSO DIZER QUE sou um cara da Geração Anos 80. Eu era apenas uma criança no início da década de 80, mas ainda criança já era também um profissional do rádio, um operário da Comunicação. Absorvia toda a informação que os discos traziam com o mesmo prazer de ler um livro, o mesmo prazer das salas de aula. Aprender é sempre maravilhoso! E o que se aprende na juventude tem um apelo maior do que o que aprendemos depois dos 30, quando achamos que já sabemos demais… Ou quando o nosso HD mental já está meio saturado de experiências e vivências positivas ou negativas.

Vocês já devem ter recebido um e-mail esculachando o cantor e compositor,  e acima de tudo, o homem Cazuza. Você pode concordar ou não com tudo aquilo que a psicóloga disse em termos de exemplo para a juventude, mas questionar o talento de Cazuza é uma leviandade. Lendo o e-mail que achincalha tudo o que diz respeito ao Cazuza, voltei no tempo. Mais específicamente ao ano de 1984, quando caiu em minhas mãos o LP ´´Maior Abandonado´´.

Devo ter ouvido esse disco centenas de vezes, sei de cor ainda hoje várias de suas letras, pareceu-me revolucionário pela sonoridade, pelas letras, pelo intérprete, que ao meu ver,(ou ao meu ouvir)  tinha um pequeno problema de dicção, mas que acabava tornando-se um charme a mais. Nem me passou pela cabeça que o grupo Barão Vermelho só havia surgido porque o pai de um dos integrantes era diretor de gravadora, argumento muito falho no e-mail da tal psicóloga. E mais uma série de agressões que no meu entendimento, não deveriam ser dirigidos ao Homem Cazuza, e sim, ao filme mequetrefe que fez dele algo muito menor do que ele verdadeiramente representou para uma geração.

Eu não assisto a filmes nacionais. Nunca mais fui a um cinema ver um filme produzido no Brasil desde 1985. Detesto tudo o que é produzido, sem ver. Já sei de antemão a pobreza.  Não sou do time que acha Selton Mello um Orson Welles. Fazer cinema com dinheiro público é moleza. O risco é mínimo. A ´´estética – ou cosmética –  global´´ só funciona em novelas. Som e iluminação de qualidade até as novelas da Record agora já tem.

Mas o que eu queria dizer mesmo é que o Cazuza era um grande compositor, um bom intérprete, uma rebeldia que se fazia necessária em um momento de abertura política. Deu o azar de ser brasileiro, e ser retratado nas telas por cineastas brasileiros, atores brasileiros, iluminadores brasileiros, e pior: roteiristas brasileiros. Claro que muito do desbunde e da desmunhecagem poderia até dar um charme ao filme, mas então que se explorasse a relação dele com o Ney Matogrosso. Ou não pode? É uma reputação maior, um ídolo maior, um ´´intocável?  Em nível de comparação apenas, guardadas as devidas proporções, assista ao filme ´´The Doors´´: perto do Jim Morrison o Cazuza era seminarista, quase beato. E ainda assim você acaba de ver o filme admirando tudo o que diz respeito à vida de um sujeito muito mais pervertido, muito mais louco, muito mais drogado do que o Cazuza. E tantos outros ídolos da música que o cinema norte-americano sabe fazer com que pareçam ainda maiores transpostos para a tela. ESCREVAM O QUE EU DIGO: se o cinema nacional colocar na tela a vida do Raul Seixas, do Tim Maia, dos Mamonas Assassinas, do Vínícius de Morais, do Renato Russo, da Cássia Eller e de tantos outros, as novas gerações acharão muito mais aprazível e salutar gostar mesmo do NX-ZERO.

As pessoas dizem que não dá pra viver na edição por muito tempo, que é estressante, que você não é valorizado, vai morar 1h30 do trabalho, ter gastrite, pressão alta, tendinite, problemas para dormir tudo antes dos 35 anos e pagar aos trancos e barrancos um carro 1.0. Só que eu ainda tenho esperanças de ser algo mais que um apertador de botão. Sério. Boba eu né?

Nessa época em que editores (apenas editores, criadores da montagem) são uma espécie em extinção e a demanda por outros softwares como After Effects, Motion Graphics até mesmo Mocha pelo mercado audiovisual de pós-produção algumas pessoas ainda persistem e vivem (de grandes projetos) de montagem e de cinema tanto no cenário internacional quanto nacional. Aqui mesmo na produtora eu tive um exemplo quando a Idê Lacreta veio finalizar o filme da Suzana Amaral, ou a Cristina Amaral, editora do Falsa Loura.

São mulheres, o que nesse setor do audiovisual são minoria, maiores de 30 anos e que são requisitadas para grandes projetos e esse é o tema do post: quando eu crescer, quero ser igual a elas! Sim, uma versão 2.0 dos profissionais que começaram lá nos anos 70 a fazer cinema, editar, mas também gerir projetos artísticos da pós que envolvem outros programas afinal progredir, evoluir, reinveintar e estudar são coisas que não pretendo nunca deixar de fazer.

Um exemplo, nesse caso masculino, lá da gringa é o editor Walter Murch, editor do célebre Apocalypse Now na ativa até hoje. Ok, ok, não é qualquer um que tem contatos ou potencial para fazer o que ele fez, mas eu adoraria pelo menos arriscar.

Prestem atenção na ambiência criada, o timming de montagem e com certeza deliciem – se ao som de The Doors.

Wow, Jim Morrison was kind of an ass now that I think about it.

This drama is as much about 1960s music culture as it is about legendary outlaw Jim Morrison (Val Kilmer), one of the most influential figures in the history of rock and roll. This electrifying drama chronicles Morrison’s rise from obscurity to the pinnacle of the rock and roll music world as lead singer for The Doors, and, finally, to his tragically early death in a Paris bathtub.

Personally, I love The Doors. I like a lot of their music and thinks its so strange and out there that it really is some of the best. I think Jim Morrison was a great artist when he was alive, he wrote some strange but really beautiful poetry and music. And, I also love Oliver Stone, as much of you already know. Why didn’t this whole film work out like I wanted it to??

To start it off let me look at the positives. The concert scenes are filmed in large screen, cause that’s how Stone wants you to see them as and really there was no other way they could have been shown other than in wide screen presentation. It is amazing how the concert scenes are re-created, as they look like outtakes taken from a documentary at the time. The crowd scenes have a real distinct powerful effect, and this is one of the most realistic looking rock movies I’ve seen in a long time.

Val Kilmer looks so much like Morrison it’s actually scary. But not only does he look like him, Kilmer captures the total essence that Morrison had. He was a strange man, who’s erratic behavior got worse as he started to deal more into drugs, as this film shows very well. Meg Ryan also has a good performance as his long-time girlfriend who goes through some changes herself, and through Ryan’s performance we see this very well.

However, there were many problems I had with this film that did bother me a lot. The historical innacuracies really do start to get out of hand very early in this film. The film shows Morrison holding his crotch and mocking the TV as he says “higher” on live television. Now in real life, Morrison just sayed “higher” by accident and didn’t really know what he was doing when he did it. Also, the film does a great job at showing us the drug addicted, sex making, drunken Jim Morrison, and never really shows us anything good about him. The film dives into his personal life of booze, sex, and drugs, and totally forgets about his work at hand and how his songs came to be.

I did like Stone’s direction as I felt it was very inspired but I felt he could have really changed the last hour or so. The typical rise-and-fall story of Morrison is falling right at about when the first hour is up. The after that the whole film basically becomes a total downer for anyone who loved the band The Doors, such as myself.

Though we get little tidbits of what the other band members have to say, we never fully meet them. We always are able to see their reactions, but there’s never a chance to see where Morrison and all the others met, and we never get to see how close they really were to Morrison.

Consensus: Though it’s not one of Oliver Stone’s finest films, The Doors is exciting and well-acted, but never shows anything good from Morrison and its innacuracies start to get a little out-of-hand by the end of the first act.

On this day in 1978, post-punk band Echo and the Bunnymen debuted as the opening act for the Teardrop Explodes at Eric’s Club in Liverpool.

While they were a popular in their native England, the Bunnymen had limited commercial success across the pond in the U.S.  Only 1984’s “The Killing Moon” and 1987’s “Lips Like Sugar” had any chart success.  However, they became more widely known to American audiences when “Bring on the Dancing Horses” was included on the soundtrack to the 1986 film, Pretty in Pink.

In 1985, the Bunnymen toured Scandinavia as a cover band, including songs by Television, the Rollign Stones, and the Talking Heads in their sets.  In 1987, they contributed a cover version of the Doors’ “People are Strange” to the soundtrack for the film, The Lost Boys.

Despite a lack of great commercial success, the Bunnymen have had a great influence on other musicians and, in 2002, they were awarded the Q Inspiration award by British music magazine Q.

Lo-fi band Pavement performed a version as part their 1997 BBC session, describing it as “an old family favorite.”

Finally, “Lips like Sugar” has also received its fair amount of attention as a cover song.

Some nice person on youtube put together versions by Coldplay and by the Smashing Pumpkins and threw in a bit of the Seal version from the 50 First Dates soundtrack at the end.

I really like when it rains. If I can hear the rain, I sleep soundly. If I’m in the rain, I feel energized, and if I see the rain, I feel reverent. Some really good songs capture this feeling, while also showing, I think, the hold of this natural phenomenon on the human mind.
