Aún no se sabe a ciencia cierta si la reunión de Blur continuará, si grabarán un disco, o todo quedó en unos pocos shows este verano, pero gracias a Dylan Southern y Will Lovelace, el año que viene vamos a poder disfrutar de este documental.

Como vieron, los dos directores tuvieron acceso a ensayos, entrevistas backstage y seguramente el material será de lujo. Mientras esperan puede revisar la Página oficial de la banda y ver el trailer en resolución gigante.

The Good, the Bad and the Queen é de uma banda de rock britânica, formada por Damon Albarn (vocalista), o ex-baixista do Clash Paul Simonon, o ex-membro do Verve e guitarrista do Blur e Gorillaz Simon Tong e o baterista da banda Africa ‘70 de Fela Kuti Tony Allen.

Inicialmente “The Good, The Bad and the Queen” (O Bom, O Mau e a Rainha) seria o nome de um disco solo de Albarn, porém mais tarde foi anunciado que o projeto solo foi descartado e o nome seria utilizado pelo quarteto.

O autointitulado disco de estréia do grupo, cujo tema principal é a cidade de Londres, tem previsão de lançamento em janeiro de 2007. O álbum conta com a produção de Danger Mouse, da dupla Gnarls Barkley, que já havia trabalhado com Albarn e Tong no disco “Demon Days”, do Gorillaz. O primeiro single da banda, ‘Herculean’, será lançado em 30 de outubro, após uma apresentação ao vivo em Londres no dia 26 de outubro, cujos ingressos já estão esgotados.

Imogen Heap – Ellipse

I have been a fan of her’s since Speak for Yourself, and have since enjoyed her early i Megaphone work. I’ve anticipated this album for a while, and it’s worth the wait. Unfortunately, some songs on the album sound “the same” as other songs on the album, from first listen.

A Fine Frenzy – Bomb In A Birdcage

I bought her first album a few years ago, and even listened to Louisville’s NPR live lunch performance by her while getting my first tat. I would say this album is even better than One Cell in the Sea. My only gripe is the album cover! WTF? Stereotypical Myspace face/pose??? Can’t even see her pretty red hair. The first single, “Blow Away”, has a cute music video, though.

Beautiful album!! Folksy and fairy-tale-ish. :3

Matt & Kim – Grand

Great album to wake up to, especially the single “Daylight”. Fun, poppy, raw voiced, simple… I really enjoy this album. Only negative is the songs start to run together and sound the same.

Also have been listening to the albums by the bands I saw at Perez Hilton Presents: Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head, Semi Precious Weapons, and Ladyhawke.

1) The Good, The Bad & The Queen – Three Changes

Esse não é o nome da banda, e sim do álbum. The Good, The Bad & The Queen começou como um projeto solo do Damon Alburn (Blur, Gorillaz), que queria criar um disco temático, uma história de suspense passada em Londres. Começou a recrutar um time: o produtor Danger Mouse, o ex-baixista do The Clash, Paul Simonon, o guitarrista do The Verve, Simon Tong, além de uma lenda viva: Tony Allen, baterista da banda Africa ‘70, de Fela Kuti, e um dos criadores do movimento Afrobeat. Logo não era mais um projeto solo, e sim um verdadeiro supergrupo, cuja música soa unicamente rica.

2) Caetano Veloso – Circuladô De Fulô

De um trecho da poesia concreta de Haroldo de Campos saiu a letra dessa música tensa, intensa, retensa. Caetano foi genial ao musicá-la. Mais eficiente do que eu dizer qualquer outra coisa é deixar aqui um link para a dita cuja.

1) China – Jardim de Inverno

Descobri o China quando uma amiga minha me disse de um projeto dele com (acho que) os caras do Mombojó de cantar “o rei” Roberto (o aleijado que mais pegou mulher no mundo). Entrei no site e no maispeç dele procurando algo e descobri que no site dele tem todos os albuns dele pra baixar. O Ultimo Simulacro de 2007 trás essa música como segunda faixa e me abriu os ouvidos quando a ouvi. Com um som muito criativo e um tecladinho dançante oitentista no começo mas o resto bastante contemporâneo como o resgate de alguns elementos oitentistas. Enfim.. bom pra parar pra ouvir. A versão do clipe me agrada mais que a de estúdio. A guitarra mais marcante e expressiva

2) Travis – J. Smith

Música título do ultimo disco do Travis do ano passado. Começa com uma guitarra marcante nada demais e a música vai andando.. entram vocais e instrumentos e a música parece uma escocêsa padrão pop eventual. Mas no que continua e passa por um solo pouco expressivo e dele vaz uma transição para um coro e entra uma orquestração e a música se torna magistral e densa com um clima de suspense ela se interrompe e volta a guitarrinha marcante do começo. É uma delícia. A versão ao vivo não tem nada disso.. mas compensa mesmo assim.

the good, the bad, and the queen was formed in 2006 and is a bit of a SUPERGROUP with frontman damon albarn (blur, gorillaz) playing keys and singing, paul simonon (the clash, havana 3am) playing bass, simon tong (the verve, the shining) playing guitar, tony allen (co-founder of the AFROBEAT genre) playing drums, and danger mouse (gnarls barkley, dangerdoom) producing and playing random percussion/synths. albarn describes this album as “a song cycle that’s also a mystery play about London”.

There have been rumors around for a bit now that Blur would be getting back together. Now, on an interview on their site they have offically annouced that they will be reuniting in July 2009 for a show at London’s Hyde Park on July 3rd. This will mark their first preformance together since 2000. Despite this, the band has kept themselves busy, especially Damon Albarn, who has worked with Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad and The Queen. No other shows have been annouced, but the Coachella rumors have already begun.

Blur’s frontman Damon Albarn told BBC 6 Music that a reunion of the heralded Britpop band is likely to happen. Guitarist Graham Coxon left Blur (pictured above in the mid-1990s) in 2001 to pursue his solo career on a full-time basis. On the subject of his current relationship with Coxon, Albarn told BBC 6 Music, “We had lunch yesterday, funnily enough, and it was fantastic. It’s great to have my own friend back.”

About the possibility of a Blur reunion, Albarn said to BBC 6 Music:

“It’s very possible, it really is very possible. And you know truth be known, Graham and I, have been hanging out a little bit so it’s good. I can’t really say any more than that because I just can’t.”

Blur last worked together on 2002’s Think Tank album. (Coxon did not appear on Think Tank.) Albarn has since worked with Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad and The Queen.

He has been producer of the legandary Progressive death metal band Opeth, he will work as producer of the new album of Orphaned Land, and he will have a new musical proyect with the lead singer and guitarist of Opeth and the drummer from Dream Theater.

Beck, c’est le Nicolas Cage de la musique.

J’ai déjà vu une entrevue avec Cage où il expliquait qu’il aimait bien alterner entre gros films d’actions bourrés d’effets spéciaux (national treasure, ghost rider, con air) et films plus deep (adaptation, bringing out the dead, matchstick men). Quelqu’un m’a fait remarqué aujourdhui que Beck applique le même principe en musique. Un album folk relax, un album groovy flamboyant.

Et quand j’ai vu que le réalisateur de l’album est Danger Mouse, jai cru qu’on était rendu au film à effets spéciaux. Je m’attendait à un beck plutôt groovy et upbeat mais je me suis vite rendu compte que c’était beaucoup plus sombre comme ambiance. C’est probablement pour ça que j’ai pas accroché… Ca reste bien fait mais je me garderai cet album pour les jours plus tristes de cet automne, ca fit vraiment pas avec ma sélection musicale d’été.

Every once in a while, an album comes along in your life and you question how you lived without it all your life . The good , the Bad & the Queen is one such album. The super group formed by Damon Albarn(Blur), Paul Simonan(The Clash), Tony Allen(Fela Kuti), Simon Tong(The Verve) and producer DJ Dangermouse(Gnarls Barkely) could have been disastrous as one can imagine the multiple clashes of ego among the musical heavyweights that make up the group. However, Damon Albarn, the mastermind behind this project seems to have created the perfect synergy among the group which is evident by cohesiveness of the record. According to Albarn, the record is about the modern day London and its urban decaying life. However, the record can be related to any modern city which seems to be moving too fast for its own good, where people don’t take the time to appreciate the most basic things that surround them. Unsurprisingly, the album is washed with themes of doom and gloom about modern life , war and it;s bleakness but it also seems to promise a light at the end of the tunnel. The album also eerily serves as somewhat of an antidote for the current tough times that seems to be plaguing the economy.
