Aid, the first novel by Kathryn Stockett, is the story of a young white woman in Jackson, Mississippi in 1960 and a group of black servants who work for the families of his friends. Stockett writes about the struggles women face when irritated against the written and unwritten rules that limit their life. The story is powerful and has become one of the best-selling 2009 and 2010, and that is not lost on many points, sweeping the time it focuses on a nuanced portrait of the individual characters, and the horrors and blessings that come from these complicated race relations. The paperback is the time to read before the release of the film adaptation of this summer.
Evaluation Guide – ‘The Help’ Kathryn Stockett – Book Review
Kathryn Stockett, who grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, was inspired by his close relationship with the children cleaning black family to write the help. His first novel tells the story of privileged families of Jackson and the black women work as maids and nannies for families, but live in a separate part of the city and separated from whites in the history of many ways. One is particularly poignant: a woman whose son died tragically in an accident with love is dedicated to raising the children of white families she works for. The close relationships formed between the “help”, and these families are in constant conflict with the forced segregation and blatant racism in society and an individual level. The absurdity of the situation becomes clear that a young white woman who is used to defying expectations of society for its own part by a desire to work in New York instead of a husband.

The aid is counted in the alternative accounts of diverse women. The story is powerful because it is not lost on many points, sweeping the time it focuses on a nuanced portrait of the individual characters, and the horrors and blessings that come from these complicated race relations.
