Louis “Lou” Jude Ferrigno (born November 9, 1951) is an American bodybuilder and actor. Ferrigno has appeared in such television series and movies as The Incredible Hulk (playing David Banner’s bulky alter ego, the Hulk), the bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron, European-produced fantasy-adventures including Sinbad of the Seven Seas and Hercules, and most recently in the 2009 comedy I Love You, Man. He is best known for playing the Hulk, but more recently had a recurring role, as himself, in the sitcom The King of Queens.

After graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1969, Ferrigno won his first major titles, IFBB Mr. America and IFBB Mr. Universe, four years later. In 1974, he came in second on his first attempt at the Mr. Olympia competition. He then came third the following year, and his attempt to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger was the subject of the 1975 documentary Pumping Iron. Following this, Ferrigno left the competition circuit for many years, a period that included a stint as a defensive lineman for the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League.

25th Anniversary Edition

Ferrigno competed in the first World’s Strongest Man contest in 1977, where he finished fourth in a field of eight competitors. While competing, Ferrigno regularly went to see a physician who checked up on whether he was doing damage to his body.

First Season 1978

Ferrigno signed up with Universal Studios in 1977 for the title role opposite Bill Bixby as the Hulk in The Incredible Hulk. Richard Kiel was hired for the series first, and scenes were filmed. It was quickly determined he was not muscular enough, and Ferrigno was signed. One quick shot of Kiel remains in the pilot movie. Although he did not share a line with Bixby on the set (except for one episode, “King of the Beach”), the two were friends. Ferrigno continued playing the Hulk role until 1981, although the last two episodes were not broadcast until May 1982. Later, he and Bixby co-starred in three The Incredible Hulk TV movies. There were major talks of another movie, The Rebirth of The Incredible Hulk, but due to Bixby’s death, the project never went beyond the earliest stages of development. Ferrigno continued to keep in touch with Bixby until his death on November 21, 1993. Ferrigno attended Bixby’s funeral in California.

During competition, the 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) Ferrigno’s contest weight was 285 lb (130 kg) in 1975, and 316 lb (143 kg) in 1992; he was one of the tallest

Second Season DVD

professional bodybuilders at that time.

In the early 1990s, Ferrigno returned to bodybuilding, competing for the 1992 and 1993 Mr. Olympia titles. Finishing 12th and 10th, respectively, he then turned to the Masters Olympia, coming second in 1994 to Robby Robinson. After this, he retired from competition.

He made a cameo in the 2003 film Hulk as a security guard and was in one deleted scene. He has also done guest appearances and advertisements.

Complete Third Season

He again appeared as a security guard in 2008’s feature film The Incredible Hulk as well as voicing the Hulk. Furthermore, Ferrigno has been the favorite choice to play the voice of the Hulk in several animated adaptations as well as in the most recent film after being publicly offered at the 2008 New York Comic Con by The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier.

Carla Ferrigno told Reuters that her husband had been helping Michael Jackson train in advance of his 2009-2010 concerts at the time of his death. Jackson and Ferrigno have worked together in the past.

DJ Aaries, the founder and brains behind the “Hood Hard DJs” is a jack of all trades. Hailing originally from New York, New York, he quickly found himself rooted in the South and earned enough buzz to land several gigs on BET’s Rap City. After his numerous television appearances, he found his crew expanding to new numbers and ultimately reaching a new level. The winner of the 2009 Southeastern Award for ‘Impact DJ of the Year’ told HipHopWired who’s next to break, what it takes to be ‘Hood Hard’ and just how he earned his “Incredible Hulk” nickname.

HipHopWired: Tell me about how you really got your start. I know you really got into it in college but what motivated you to go out and buy some turntables.

DJ Aaries: If I had to narrow it down to one thing that made me say, I can be a DJ is when I realized a DJ was something worth being, more than someone who just plays music. It was when I saw my homeboy, DJ Shakim, he was DJing for bow wow and So So Def. I knew him since college and one day I was at a friend’s house and I was watching the BET awards and he was DJing for Bow Wow. I had just seen him the day before at the store and I was like, “Hold on, that’s my boy!” I forgot who was there, I was just like, “That’s my home boy right there!”

HipHopWired: So with your name I assume you’re aeries. But where does the Incredible Hulk part come in?

DJ Aaries: You’re gonna be the first person to actually put this out there. *Laughs*
It actually happened by accident. I was doing college parties and when I first got started DJing, I had to do this party at Charleston, South Carolina. They had me and 4 other DJs, they had the Youngbloodz, E Dub, they had the “Wooty” song, that’s where I met him. There were a lot of people there. So what happened was all of us were rotating, so we would DJ for an hour and then the next DJ would come in. They couldn’t remember my name so they remembered me as the dude who drank the drink, The Incredible Hulk. That was when everybody’s song had the Incredible Hulk in it. That night they started saying, “Aye Hulk, it’s your turn to spin.” The next day I got back to school and there was a party with a flyer that had the incredible hulk on it. Everyone went to the party and then the next day they were asking me, yo where was you at? We thought you were gonna be at the party. So that happened three or four more times and then I just started running with it. I took it and ran with it and it worked. I just took it and personified it.

HipHopWired: So you won the Southern Entertainment Award for ‘Impact DJ of The Year,’ congratulations.

DJ Aaries: Preciate it.

HipHopWired: Tell me what it was like winning that award. What was that moment like for you?

DJ Aaries: I was just glad to be nominated. Even this year, I’m nominated for ‘#1 DJ in the South.’ I’ve been nominated for the past three years. My DJ crew, Hood Hard DJs, we’re nominated for DJ Crew of the Year and DJs in my crew are nominated. So for me being this guy from South Carolina that ain’t never win a Bingo game, I’ve never won anything! So to actually ‘ Impact DJ of the Year’, everyone was calling me saying congratulations cause I couldn’t even be at the awards. I DJ A-Town day every year and the awards got switched to the same day so I couldn’t go. I didn’t believe that I won, I thought maybe there was another DJ that won. So after that it was ride out season. It was real cool, I like winning but I still got a long way to go. That’s nowhere near where I’m bout to go.

HipHopWired: As the founder of the Hood Hard DJs, tell me about how you got started with that and expanded your DJ crew to 150 people.

DJ Aaries: Actually we’re at about 200. I never intended on doing the whole DJ crew thing. I was a part of another DJ crew but that didn’t work out.

HipHopWired: What crew is that?

DJ Aaries: Legion of Doom DJs. We’re still cool, I talk to Ray, I talk to Dre, Brad. I’m in Brad’s video. It’s just like when you’re a kid and you’re in your parent’s house and you don’t like certain rules, you get your own house. You don’t complain about it, so that’s what I did. I’ve always been cool with DJs, so when I left Legion of Doom, I saw so many DJs that I’ve been cool with, so for them it was a natural progression. I was doing events and one DJ would come out and then three or four would come out. Then they’d call me and say, “We need to start a DJ crew.” The Hood Hard DJ crew started out as my mixtapes, my mixtape series were the ‘Hood Hard’ mixtapes. What started happening is that so many DJs that I’m cool with were like, “Okay we’re gonna do this.” So instead of trying to get on, we just blow our own self up, find artists that are on deck, we find them, blow them up and do our thing. That’s our mission. It started being another DJ, another DJ and another DJ. Then I started going on Rap City. First it was two days, then it was five days, then it was another. So then I wanted some of my DJs on there, so I started sending them on. So more DJs started contacting me after seeing the show. It started from 1 DJ to 5 DJs to 30 DJs and it just started getting bigger and bigger. Evidently it was official because I had a conference; we do a conference every year called ‘Hood Hard Day.’ The first event at the Atrium was stupid, both sides were packed and we didn’t even do any radio promo. It was crazy! We had DJs from Africa. So we were like how are we gonna top that?! *Laughs* The next year we’re at the Holiday Inn Select. My DJ panel was me, Tony Neal the President of Core DJs, Kasper the President of Hittmen DJs, Bigga Rankin, O G Ron C, Kid Capri, French Ice, DJ T-Watts, DJ Judgmental and White Mike. This was only my second conference so needless to say, everything’s moving. A lot of people deal with us so I’m glad.

HipHopWired: What separates the Hood Hard DJs from other DJ crews like the Affiliates, like The Super Friends?

DJ Aaries: Well The Super Friends are based mostly up North. They play a lot of New York music, the Affiliates are the same way. For the most part they’re up north as well, some of them are down here. With us, we’re mainly in the Southeast, we’ve started to tap into overseas now. Our whole thing is we’re always looking for new music. Like Yung L.A. I found him off of a CD, he wasn’t even on a mixtape. He wasn’t with Grand Hu$tle yet. He had his song “Ain’t I” and he and his manager weren’t about to push that song.

HipHopWired: So you broke L.A.?

DJ Aaeries:
Not me, WE broke L.A. My crew broke L.A. They wanted to change, they said, “Hey we have a new single.” and I said “Naw, give me two months on this song.” Another song, V.I.C. Nobody heard of V.I.C. Souljaboy had just came out and when we got that record we met at a Moe’s restaurant, all of us. *Laughs* I said, “Just give me two months” and we were on it. I look for the artist that’s saying I wanna rap, I work hard and I’m a team player. I’ll say let’s do it.

HipHopWired: What’s the next record you’re looking to break?

DJ Aaries: Actually we just did a YouTube video for this rapper named L.T. Shawty Redd did the track. There’s another song by this guy named Eager, he has a song called “Michael Jordan.” Those two you can really look out for. There’s another girl named Toccara, she has a song with Young Dro. I can’t forget Nappy Roots. They have a new song with Anthony Hamilton and one called “Ridin.” Go to HoodHardDJs.com and check out nine or ten new tracks from them.

HipHopWired: I hear your appearances on Rap City inspired you to do Hood Hard TV. Tell me more about that.

DJ Aaries: Actually I started Hood Hard TV before I went Rap City about 3 years ago. We bring in different celebrities and industry people to give advice. The artists are broadcast through 15 different markets. So that’s a good look. We’ve had people like Don Vito, Lyfe Jennings, Wonder, almost everyone from Colli Park, Mac Bre Z, Lil Chukie with Wayne. That’s another artist we’re pushing for. They don’t just perform, they ask questions.

HipHopWired: What is the next mixtape y’all are looking to put out?

DJ Aaries: The next three mixtapes to definitely be looking for would be the Nappy Roots mixtape, I have a mixtape with Trick Daddy and one with Lil Chuckie.

HipHopWired: How’d you hook up with Trick?

DJ Aaries: One of my DJs in Florida. I always liked Trick Daddy, the Carolinas love Trick Daddy. Me and his manager actually just solidified that. I almost forgot my killer mixtape series, the boom shak a laka is green light city! My biggest mixtape will be a mixtape campaign with DJ Michael Watts, 5,000 Watts down there in Texas. That’s coming out around January. We’re gonna feature new artists out of Texas and of course I’ll reach up to the Carolinas but it’s mainly Atlanta and Texas. That’s gonna be STOOPID!

HipHopWired: Besides the mixtapes what’s next for you?

DJ Aaries: Really just looking for what’s new. We need new music, we need hot music. I just look for new stuff. I like the process of taking artists from ground zero looking up and they on TV.

HipHopWired: Okay, so what’s the best way to get in contact with you?

DJ Aaries: Well I’m addicted to Twitter, so the easiest way to get in contact with me is Twitter.com/DJAaries. HoodHardDJs.com, Myspace, Black Planet. If you Google me, about 100 pages will come up. I’m too easy to find.

As you may already know I am huge Incredible Hulk fan yet It has been at least a year since I have followed the comic book. I will admit I was hooked on Planet Hulk & World War Hulk. Infact I must admit those were some of the best Hulk stories I’ve read in years. Then what happens to my Hulk title that Greg Pack had so magnificently written? Well for some reason the title tuned into The Incredible Hercules and we start following the exploits of Hercules instead of the Hulk. Um ok…then a new title simply called Hulk emerges written by Jeph Loeb. Well I have to be honest about Mr. Loeb, he’s pretty hit or miss. Usually a miss in my opinion. I read maybe the first two issues of this title and was less than impressed. In fact so unimpressed I never picked up an issue again.

From time to time I’d consider buying the title just for the fact that I missed my old green buddy. With comic prices rising to four bucks a pop there was no chance I’d be risking the dough on Loeb’s Red Hulk, A-Bomb infested Hulk title. Recently however Pak has taken over The Incredible Hulk again with issue #601. But still having not read barely any of the previous Hulk by Loeb or even Incredible Hulk #600 also written by Loeb I was still not sold to shell out the cash even for Pak’s return.Yet.

Well today I was looking for further info on the Hulk title and saw some artwork and covers for the upcoming “Fall of The Hulks” on Comicbookresources.com. I must say I was intriqued. Seeing images of old school villains like M.O.D.O.K., The Leader(with his old school long head), Mad Thinker, Egghead, Red Ghost and the Super-Apes and Doctor Doom really made me think of the possibility of an awesome old school Hulk adventure. From what I have read is these villains make up a team who have analyzed every victory & defeat in the Marvel Universe. Together they create the perfect battle strategy that will eventually cause Fall of the Hulks arc to take place. Plus upon first glance at some of the teaser art world from Marvel.com I had to do a double take to make sure that some of the artwork wasn’t that of the master John Byrne him self.

I think it’s the work of artist Paul Pelletier that’s so closely influenced. So YES I am going to give this new Hulk story a shot hoping that Mr. Pak & yes even Jeph Loeb can reel me back in. Supposedly I don’t even have to read all that Red Hulk B.S. to get into this new story thank god. With the release of the Fall of the Hulks two one-shot comics Alpha & Gamma, it’s supposedly and excellent ponit to jump on board. So in the beginning of december I’ll be checking it out and who knows I may even pick up Incredible Hulk #600 and 601 before hand for good measure….

They sent him to another universe, they tricked him, and they lied to him. They sent him to another world, they claimed he would find peace but instead he found war. Planet Hulk is one of the best graphic novels I have read since the Watchmen, real talk bee! My man Jay let me hold it at work and I fell in love with the story. Basically it involves Reed (Bitch) Richard, Doc Strange, Black Bolt and Ironman. These 4 bitch niggas tricked the Hulk to leave Earth then BOOM sent him to another world where he would become a slave. On the new planet Hulk is very weak and must regain his strength over time, but we all know the angrier Hulk gets the stronger! If you into the graphic novel thing or not, It’s an all around good read. Oh yea IT’S THE HULK BEE!!!! HHTT APPROVED

2. Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse kicked the devil in the face and took his soul back.
3. Multiple people have died from Chuck Norris giving them the finger.
4. Chuck Norris drinks napalm to quell his heartburn.
5. If you want a list of Chuck Norris’ enemies, just check the extinct species list.
6. Chuck Norris once threated to sue Burger King because they refused to make it his way. When asked what “his way” detailed, he replied: “with barbed wire and nails, of course”. He then roundhouse kicked the reporter for even asking.
7. Chuck Norris always has sex on the first date. Always.

8. Chuck Norris’ evil twin brother, Richard Simmons, once approached Chuck with the hope of reconciliation, but at the sight of Richard’s curly, well kept hair, Chuck Norris became so enraged that he turned green with hate and ripped Richard Simmons arms and legs off. This action was the origin of the Marvel Comic badass, The Incredible Hulk.

9. Chuck Norris used live ammunition during all shoot-outs. When a director once said he couldn’t, he replied, “Of course I can, I’m Chuck Norris,” and roundhouse kicked him in the face.

10. Chuck Norris never “gets laid”, rather: “laid gets Chuck”.

A few months I posted up a little trailer for a Superhero Squad cartoon airing on Cartoon Network. Now I live in in the UK and wasn’t expecting to see this anytime soon but thats not the fact.

Marvel themselves are making the cartoon viewable online. I’m not sure if there is a delay or whatever from the TV airing but upto now there are 8 episodes you can watch. Now the animation style is aimed squarely at younger children but that being said if you like superhero cartoons you should enjoy this. The character team interaction is actually quite sarcastic and funny at times and there is alot of guest heroes and villains appearing I would say some for the first time in a cartoon.

Ok I have gone on enough I’m sure you just want to know where you can see the cartoons well they can be found HERE So make yourselves comfy and enjoy.

Iron Man > The Incredible Hulk > Iron Man 2

Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America ซึ่งแต่ละเรื่องก็จะโยงไปถึงหนังเรื่อง The Avengers เพื่อให้ลงตัว และรู้เรื่องราวความเป็นมาของแต่ละตัวละคร ถ้าเรียงลำดับเหตุการณ์ น่าจะเป็นไปได้ตามนี้

The First Avenger: Captain America > Iron Man > Thor > The Incredible Hulk > Iron Man 2 > The Avengers

The Avengers !!!!!

Captain America

By David Bentley – CoventryTelegraph.net

THE ACTOR who played the DC Comics character Swamp Thing in two films and a television series has died at the age of 72.

Dick Durock, a 6ft 5ins former Marine, passed away at his home in Oak Park, California, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, according to his official website.

Dick Durock

Durock wore a latex bodysuit and make-up to play the monster in 1982’s Swamp Thing directed by Wes Craven; its 1989 sequel The Return of Swamp Thing; and a subsequent Swamp Thing series that ran for 71 episodes from 1990 to 1993.

The actor appeared in dozens of other movies and TV series including the shows Star Trek, Knight Rider, The A-Team, Battlestar Galactica and The Incredible Hulk.

Fans had been hoping Durock would have a cameo role in the new 3D remake of Swamp Thing or at least be able to see his classic creation come to life on the big screen again.

The story tells of a scientist who is caught in a lab explosion and, doused with chemicals, falls into a swamp. He is resurrected as a humanoid mass of vegetation who – in a strong ecological theme – fights to protect the environment from various threats.

Warner Bros is considering a remake of Swamp Thing. Producer Joel Silver last month told Collider: “I’m developing a picture now that I’d like to do…I’ll hopefully do Swamp Thing, which is a movie we’ve had for a long time. We think that would be great to do in 3D.”

More recently, it was reported that producer Akiva Goldsman was linked to the project and wanted a reboot based upon the highly regarded Swamp Thing comic book stories by Watchmen writer Alan Moore.

Last year, director Guillermo del Toro expressed enthusiasm for taking on the project, telling The LA Times: “Oh, I would love to make a Swamp Thing movie. Really, Swamp Thing is one of the last Holy Grail projects that is still out there. Those stories were fantastic, with the hallucinogenic feel of that world. I don’t think anyone is tackling that one anytime soon. It is one of those Holy Grails that dates back to that same boom as Watchmen and The Killing Joke. For me it would be an honour to do it.”

But his schedule is piled high and he added: “Right now, I don’t think it’s happening. If I had enough time to tackle it. But I will be 50 when I get out of The Hobbit.”

by Liam – Filmonic.com

Even though the folks at Marvel aren’t ready to reveal anything just yet, there is a good chance that The Hulk will be the villain in The Avengers. They’ve been talking about the idea for a while and even The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier hinted at it last year when commenting on the films closing shot. Leterrier said “…if you decide that he’s smiling, in control, then he’s a good guy, that’s ‘The Hulk 2,’” he continued. “If Hulk is a failure, then he looks up and smirks and that’s eventually the Hulk of the Avengers — the uncontrollable beast that they need to team up to stop.”

If the director knew of Marvel’s intentions then one would assume Edward Norton would be in on it too, and from this interview with MTV it seems he is.“In the comics, there was always a tension between the rest of the superhero community and he was always this problem… They treated him as this problem,” said Norton.

In Toronto to promote his well-received film “Leaves of Grass” at the International Film Festival, Norton said he could definitely see the Hulk character becoming something that the rest of Marvel’s superheroes joined forces to battle. After all, Hulk’s never been shy about telling the world he’s “the strongest there is. I think that’s a fun way to go with it,” said Norton.

If Norton likes the idea, which he does, then he could return as Bruce Banner in The Avengers. When The Incredible Hulk came out Norton and Marvel weren’t the best of friends as they had disagreements over the final cut and Norton didn’t receive credit for rewriting the script. At the time I am sure Norton wouldn’t have wanted to work with Marvel again, but time as passed and he may be up for it again. He’s probably contracted to return anyway.

The first time I met Patrick Swayze was in 2002. A family member of mine had departed his life and I was preparing to return to my hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina, to arrange funeral services. My husband, Grand, was dropping me off at my designated LAX terminal when a familiar voice rose above the cacophony of all the hustle and bustle. ”Yo, Grand!” the man yelled.

Grand looked up and spotted Patrick, who had just flown in from Canada after filming “One Last Dance,” the movie written and directed by his wife, Lisa. ”You’re still dancing?’ Grand asked as he squeezed Patrick’s biceps and slapped his firm chest. Patrick was in shape, alright, as was Grand. It was good to see two strong, handsome men enjoy each other’s company.

All Patrick could talk about was how glad he was to finally bring his wife’s labor of love, “One Last Dance,” to the big screen and how great it was to work with his life-long partner. The movie had just wrapped in Canada and Patrick was eager to enter post-production in Los Angeles. Grand and Patrick had not seen each other for years.

Back in 1982, they co-starred in ”The Renegades,” a film co-written by our good friend, Steven E. de Souza. Writer/director Nick Corea brought Grand along on many of his projects back in the day, including “The Renegades,” “The Incredible Hulk,” ”Air Wolf,” “Walker, Texas Ranger,” etc. On this day, many memories came flooding in. Grand and Patrick talked about the last time they saw so-and-so. They chatted about their hopes and dreams. After about five minutes, Grand had to move the car. I suggested that he not bother parking it, so he drove off. I blew kisses as Patrick waved.

After I checked in, I noticed that my flight had been delayed for another thirty minutes or so. So I decided to cool my heels and locate a seat far removed from hectic travelers. Before I knew it, a smiling Patrick plopped down next to me. He talked a lot about his relationship with my husband and how happy he was to work with Lisa. I told him that I fell in love with his character in ”Ghost,” and that he still made me want to gyrate whenever I would hear the soundtrack from “Dirty Dancing.” He was humbled by my admiration. Patrick stayed with me until it was time for me to board my flight.

Writer/Director/Producer Nick Corea surprises Grand L. Bush on his birthday. Corea was the one who introduced Patrick Swayze to Bush.

When Grand and I received news that Patrick was battling the same cancer that took Nick’s life in 1999, our hearts sank. We bore witness to the agony this courageous man endured until his suffering ended. Yes, Patrick and Nick both had pancreatic cancer and they both departed their lives at age 57. Grand and I miss them both.

What serves as some consolation is the fact that we can still see Nick and Patrick laughing, dancing, writing, producing and going that extra yard to make their families and friends happy. The marvelous body of work Nick and Patrick have both left behind in this physical world makes them legends in their own right. Shall peace be with them throughout eternity.

Here’s to “One Last Dance” and a lifetime of beautiful memories.

Hello everyone Jourdan here posting some old blog post of my favorite films of 08 that I did on my Myspace. I am putting this up to give you an idea of what you can expect from me if you are not familiar already. You can find all my previous reviews their http://www.myspace.com/jourdanwitau .

Best of 08 and Beyond

So here it is again I have compiled all the movies and listed my favorite films of 2008. Sorry for the length of how many films on my list. I was going to make a top ten and a honorable mention but decided that if I where to put these films in that category then they must have fit my criteria. All of these movies, I found entertaining for various reason. These films could be entertaining on a pop corn way or technical way or both. All of these movies I think should be seen and I think represent 2008. Even though my list is 25 strong there are still a few movies that I have not seen yet that might have made the list: Grand Torino, Frost/Nixon, the Wrestler, Revolutionary Road, the Reader, Synecdoche, New York, Doubt, and Milk. Out of all of those I really want to see The Wrestler. Enough of this let me get to the list but after this.

A Bittersweet Life

This shouldn’t make it on the list because it came out in 2005 I think. This is a Korean revenge movie that is really great. That is all you need to know going into this movie and that Ji-Woon Kim directed it. I have seen three of his movies and they are all pretty good and I fully believe that I will watch anything he makes from now one blindly. That’s how good I think he is. I think he brings depth and cool hip artistry to all of his movies. For those of you who have seen the great Old Boy film I would say that this movie is its fraternal twin brother. You should try to seek this one out if that sound likes your cup of tea.

And now on to the real list…

25. The Orphanage

The only reason this isn’t higher on my list is because it came out at the end of 07 and I watched on DVD not in the theater. It is a really great ghost story that is genuinely creepy. Oh yea this is a Spanish film so you’re gonna have to read.

24. Step Brothers

Straight up stupid. I think Will Farrell and John C Reilly are perfecting there retarded man child with each film they do like this. I have to say that I prefer there other movies compared to this but it is really funny and at least stands next to the all their films really well. Also this is another Judd Apatow linked movies, which is comedy gold that’s deep-fried in liquid gold. This movie is tied with Forgetting Sarah Marshall…

23. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Even though these two movies Sarah Marshall and step Brothers are different types of comedy the both have in common the Apatow effect. Now this movie is closer in tone to Apatows directed comedies like knocked up. I also have to say that this movie has one of the best break-up scene I have seen.

22. Cloverfield

I almost forgot that this film came out in 08. The sad thing about this movie is that you have to come in this movie expecting what it is to really appreciate it. I know a lot of people where on the tip that it should be more like Godzilla. That is totally wrong way to go into this movie. It is a story of group of people and what would they do and go through if Godzilla was real. Being civilians they wouldn’t be really up close fight this monster. I think it was well directed and elevated the sub genre of found footage. It also has a killer score that only plays during the credits but it is a great homage to Godzilla.

21. Zack and Miri Make a Porno….

Now this film may not be on other people’s lists but if you are a Kevin Smith fan you will really like this film. It shows the growth with Kevin smith while still being foul as always. I also think he nails relationships pretty well in this film even though it is in the situation of making a porno. This may not be as funny as Step Brothers but this is more complete film with a full-fledged growth arc

20. Slumdog Millionaire

Now don’t get me wrong this is a really good movie. Is it worth all the good praise yes. Is it worth that much praise of that its one of the best film of 08 no. Yea it is on my list but not my top ten. You should see this and director Danny Boyle continually amazes me on his versatility (he did trainspotting, 28days later, millions, sunshine. You should check those out if you haven’t seen them yet and you will know what I am talking about). There is a part in this movie that is gross and funny as hell that you should see.

19. Valkyrie….

For anyone doubting Bryan Singer who directed Superman Returns should watch this movie (oh by the way I still think Superman Returns is a good film that is a great opening to a really great action while deep sequel). This is a really fascinating film about a true story. Even with know what happens with this story Bryan Singer creates true tension and thrills.

18. The Strangers

This isn’t the best film but it definitely one of the scarier ones I saw. That is the main reason it is on this list because it was scary which is what a horror movie should do. I can totally see some one being freaked out after this movie.

17. The Good the Bad the Weird.

This is the second Ji-Woon movie that I saw this year that was really great change to the western genre. This movie is not being released for American distribution for couple of months from now but it was shown in 08. Now this may not be for the casual moviegoer but if you love movies like I do and you like western will like this film. This movie if you cant tell is a play on the classic Clint Eastwood Sergio Leon Spaghetti Western the good The Bad and the ugly. This movie totally pays respect to that film by being a good film

16. Wanted

The first comic book adaptation on my list. I think this film goes really well with the first matrix. I think this would be the matrix little brother. The action is over the top and comes really close to crossing the line but never did for me. I have skimmed through the graphic novel and found that it is pretty different. Oh for the ladies there is a shot of a buffed out James McAvoy and for the fellas their Angelina Jolie. On a last note about this film I have to say that Morgan Freeman can give Samuel Jackson a run for his money on who can say Mother Fucker better.

15. Rambo

Once again another film that I almost forgot came out in 08. In short this film is done like an 80’s movie that is done now. The action is over the top gory and the story is as serious can be and loved the shit out of this movie. This movie had me waiting for Sylvester Stallone’s next film, which happens to be the expendables that is about mercenary hired to take out a dictator which. It will star Jason Statham Jet Li Dolph Lundren Mickey Rourke. Tell me that aint some 80’s action gold for you.

14. Speed Racer

Just like Cloverfield I think you can only enjoy this film knowing that this is a live action anime. If you cant go into this movie with that in mind I think you maybe at lose because it is a really good film for what it is. It is a really vibrant movie and might hurt your eyes but if you can take it you in for a first live action anime ever done and maybe never will be done ever again (because it flopped the shit up at the box office)

13. Kung Fu Panda

What Kill Bill did, Kung Fu Panda did for family/cartoon films. The animation and action are really great (it is worth getting in blu ray by the way). It is a pretty simple movie that took me by surprise in how they really tried to respect kung Fu movie in general which made it that much better as a film. Oh for your information this movie is not done by Pixar too which is great.

12. Let the right one in

A subtitled Swedish vampire movie about two kids that fall for each other. It is eerie and quirky at the same time. It has a dark humor and thrilling element to it. Honestly this is one of the best vampire film that I have seen in awhile. It is a weird film that you should seek out.

11. Tropic Thunder

If the all stars aligned Robert Downey Jr would get awards for his part in this movie. If you are watching this movie you are watch Robert Downey Jr, it is totally his film. I have watched this movie about 8 times and everything from him still makes me laugh. Oh if you have this movie on DVD or blu ray you should check out the commentary by the cast because Robert Downey Jr does the commentary in character, which is pretty funny too.

10. Hulk

The second comic book movie on my list. The one thing about this film that besides getting the hulk better then most have is the end fight scene. It is what a super hero fight scene should be like no question about it. This is also a great companion film to Iron man and is a great set up for the future avengers movie that I hope will get made

9. Hellboy 2 the Curse of the Golden Army

If you like pulp things then you will like hell boy. Nazi to fairy tale creatures it’s everything that a geek like me. It also has Seth McFarlane doing one of the characters voice (if you don’t know he is the family guy guy). I know that I want to see where Hellboy 3 will go if they ever make it. Guillermo Del Toro is the man and if you haven’t seen Pan’s or hellboy the first one you should check it out. I have total confidence in him on doing the Hobbit.

8. Wall-E

What can I say like Apatow and his crew Pixar is animation gold deep-fried in liquid gold. They just get better technically with there animation every time out and they always tell a great story with great characters. The sound design was by the same guy who did R2-D2 so you know it gangsta awesome. This is also a must to have in Blu Ray.

7. Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

What makes this film is seeing this character go through life. If you find that watching some one life unfold is boring this is not for you. Because that is the hook the selling point. It is not the idea of a person physically growing younger. Yea that gives the character a different out look but its Benjamin growth as a person that was the hook for me. The special effects are really great in this film and I think they should win for that at least when awards are given out.

6. Pineapple Express

Like Robert Downey Jr I think James Franco should get nominated at least for his role as a pothead drug dealer. It is one of the funniest movies I have seen this year because they got how potheads are. Its just funny seeing how a pothead would act in danger. I didn’t mention this in Zack and Miri but Craig Robinson is damn funny in her as he is in that movie too. Oh yea this another Apatow comedy Gold fried in liquid gold.

5. The Fall

Visual poetry and pure imagination. I honestly think the little girl from this film should be noticed for her performance because it was so natural and spot on. Her acting was not acting it was actually the character on the screen if that even makes any sense. For those of you who don’t know this film it’s by the same guy who did the Cell with JLO. Now that you have an idea of how artistic this movie can be, the cell doesn’t even come close to the fall. It is about a man that is injured and he befriends a little girl and tells her story to get close to her. Once he has here trust he tries to have her help him commit suicide. The story that is told to the girl is being shown through the eyes of the little girl. I honestly think this movie was totally overlooked. Really great film.

4. JCVD

Out of all the movies that came out this year this one surprised me the most. I already had read good things about this film so I was came in the movie with some pretty high expectation. I came out of the film with my experiences that exceeded my expectations. I have to say Jean Claude Van Damme is really good in this movie. He is what makes this movie and the indie director feel to it also helps.

3. Burn After Reading

Out side of the main comedy movies that came out this year this was a stand out for me. This is a Coen Brothers and I didn’t anything less from them. This movie had me laughing on just how absurd it was. You should come in this movie with just the trailer as knowledge and know that it is a movie by the Coens and that it’s going to be in the same vein as there previous comedy.

2. Iron Man

There where three movies going into 08 that I couldn’t wait to see. That was The Dark Knight, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Krystal Skulls and Iron Man. Thankfully this movie and dark knight came through in spades. I pretty sure if you are reading this you have already seen this movie so there nothing much to say about it beside that it full filled everything you want from a fun summer blockbuster. I hope with the next installment that they up the fighting between Iron Man and whom ever he is fighting against. I also got to say that this was Robert Downey’s year. I think he had a year like Johnny Depp when he did the first Pirates movie and Once upon a time in Mexico or even better.

1. The Dark Knight

Now all of these movie can be switched around depending on my mood except this one. This one cannot because it hits all the right notes and give the best any chance it gets. This may not be a surprise but, I don’t think anyone can say that it is not worth anything that has gotten. If you are of the few people that have not seen it you should go see it now and if you want to be cheap come over my house and you can watch it in blu ray cuz I will watch that any time. If you watch movie because of good acting or good directing or for some good action or some good story telling or for a good film score or for good dialog or want something deeper out of a movie then you should watch the Dark Knight. It has everything and does it at a high level that make it a great film. This may not win every award but this film sure does deserves the nomination in multiple categories and deserves awards of if they do win for best director best film and best supporting actor.

There you have it my guide 2008. It took me a couple of weeks to get this together.

Now if you are not tired of reading the BS that I am writing, here is the list of films I am looking forward to

Avatar

James Cameron back at doing sci-fi(he did the first two terminators, abyss, Aliens and that damn Titanic movie) I can say that I am anticipating it. The word on this is that it is supposed to be the next step in movie going and make it worth it to everyone to go to your local theater instead of watching a bootleg or streaming on a website or waiting for DVD. That is because it’s supposed to be the next step in 3D.

Star Trek

JJ Abrams who made my all time favorite show LOST is directing this one. The guy that plays Sylar is playing Spock and he is a dead ringer for him. By the trailers it looks like it is promising something very epic that we have never seen with Star Trek.

Watchman

Read the graphic Novel it really is that good. It looks like this might be a faithful adaptation.

inglorious basterds

Yes that is spelled right. Quentin Tarantino doing aWW2 flick with Brad Pitt. What else can you ask for. This movie has been rumored even before Kill Bill So fans of his have been waiting for this one and who doesn’t like a war flick.

Public Enemy

Johnny Depp playing John Dillinger. If you don’t know I think Johnny Depp is the shit and I wish he played regular roles more often like this one. That is not saying his Tim Burton character are not good. Oh yea Christian Bale is the lead FBI agent after him. This is done by Mr. blow shit up him self Michael Bay I think this will be closer to Heat Then Transformers.

Coraline

The guy that did A Nightmare Before Christmas Henry Selick and the comic book writer Neil Gaiman that did Sandman and Stardust. I think this is a great pairing.

Monsters vs. Aliens

Just on the fact it super geeky concept.

Up!

Animated gold fried in liquid gold from Pixar. There is nothing else to say why I wanna see this.

Brothers Bloom

If you like film and or the noir then you should check out director Rian Johnson first film. Based on that film I want to see it. It also helps that its got a rock solid cast with Mark Ruffalo Adrien Brody, and Rachel Weisz.

Terminator Salvation

Now this is the scary one of the year in which I will be sad if it doesn’t deliver. It has nothing to do with James Cameron and is directed by McG who did those Charlie’s Angles movies. This is supposed to deliver on that human vs. robots war that was shown in T2. John Connor is being played by one of my favorite actors Christian Bale so that also elevated my anticipation of this movie. It also comes out on my birthday May 22 and I hope it doesn’t disappoint like Indiana Jones did by not being as good as the previous movies.

Harry Potter and the Half-blood prince

I really like this series and it always leaves me anticipating the next film. The last one fulfilled what I wanted to see in a wizard battle. I must admit that when the first film came out I thought it was stupid. Now I really like this series. I still wont read the books though.

Funny People

Comedy gold fried in liquid gold Judd Apatow is directing this one. This is where I would say NUFF said but it does star Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen.

Shutter Island

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Dicaprio and this is where I put NUFF Said.

Where the Wild Things are

One of my fav director Spike Jonze (adaptation) doing one of the most well known children’s book. I have seen some of the pics of the monster and look pretty damn cool. I have to say that the concept of Where the Wild Things are is pretty damn Geeky.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox

I have never read the Roald Dahl’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox so I am only anticipating this because of Wes Anderson (Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic) and that it is his first animated film.

Sherlock Holmes

Robert Downey sword fighting boxing and solving crimes as Sherlock Holmes and Jud Law as a bad ass looking Dr Watson, I am sold. This is supposed to have more action and thrilling elements then previous Sherlock’s. For those of you who think that is dumb in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books he is a expert Stick Fighter and bar knuckle boxer. Guy Ritchie(snatch, lock stock and two smoking barrels) directing and hoping he can do more then sleek crime films.

Year One

Jack Black and Michael Cera in 1 A.D. and directed by Harold Ramis the guy that played Egon in Ghostbusters and wrote a whole bunch of funny movies.

The Box

Richard Kelly who did Donny Darko does a film based on a twilight zone episode about a box that a gives you what you want but also kills someone at the same time. Perfect pairing.

Ninja Assassin

Ninja’s and the guy that directed V for Vendetta and produced by the matrix boys and written by comic book by J. Michael Staczynski. Oh did I say it’s about Ninjas and who doesn’t like ninjas.

Transformers 2:Revenge of the Fallen.

Bigger then the first one.

Wolverine: Origins

Huge Jackman is a perfect wolverine and director Gavin Hood first film Tsotsi was gritty and was pretty good. The movie has Gambit, Blob, and Deadpool who is played by Ryan VanWilder Reynolds. The trailer just didn’t sell me yet but you know what I will still see this movie.

Black Dynamite

Just checkout the red band trailer and tell me you don’t wanna see this. If you don’t sorry for making you watch that trailer but that shit was funny to me.

and there you have it I done and tired!
