So Clipse are dropping a new album, and I stumbled across some leaked tracks. Having already released the viral music video for “Popular Demand” with Cam’Ron, I assume these leaks were strategic, it’s hype week, Till The Casket Drops is set for a December 8th release. The smallest handgun in the world they may not be, but for a group that’s been backed by The Neptunes for this long, and been crowned the princes of cocaine rap, their inability to recapture the sound and hype of 2002’s Lord Willin’ is all whimper and no bang.

I think Clipse is the only brother duo that really made up their work in any hip hop section (rap,producing,djing etc.). They have a close relation to Pharrell, who they met in 1993.

They have a close relation to Pharrell Williams, who they met in ‘93. In 2001 he signed the duo in his Arista Records imprint Star Trek Ent., where they released their debut Lord Willin.

In 2006 they released their second album Hell Hath No Fury, which I really enjoyed !

They will drop their next album Till The Casket Drops on December 8. It will feature productions by Timbaland, Danjahandz, Scott Storch, The Hitmen and Kanye West.

They also launched a clothing line, called Play Cloths, in November 2008.

V.A. rhyme spitters Clipse and DTLR have announced their first retail partnership and the “DTLR Presents Clipse By Popular Demand” tour. This partnership represents the first retail merchandise collaboration with a music artist in the independent urban clothing chain’s 26-year history.

At the core of the partnership is the “I’m Good” tee, which highlights Clipse’s hit single, “I’m Good,” featuring Pharrell Williams, from their upcoming release, Til The Casket Drops, available December 8.

DTLR marketing, buying and creative teams worked with the Clipse and Sony (Columbia Records’ parent company) to develop a quality product for customers.

“We’ve been approached by several companies in the past to place artist merchandise items in our stores, but the items never met our standard for fashion or quality. This time all members joined forces to create a product the urban fashion customer would enjoy,” says Shawn Caesar, president of Unruly Records, DTLR’s Marketing and Entertainment division.

Pusha of the Clipse reveals, “We designed this shirt just like we create our music, to give fans something they can rock with for a long time.”

Mat Vlasic, The Thread Shop President of Merchandising, adds, “Thread Shop is thrilled to partner with DTLR and work with Clipse as the chain’s first music merchandiser. We believe this is just the beginning of a long relationship together.”

In addition to the apparel partnership, DTLR and Sony have joined to offer fans “The Best of the Clipse” mixtape, mixed by DJ Jay Claxton and DJ QuickSilva, and opportunities to meet the Clipse at DTLR stores in markets during the “DTLR Presents Clipse By Popular Demand” tour. Fans can purchase the “I’m Good” tee in each tour stop and at Clipse performances.

Till The Casket Drops will also be available for purchase in DTLR markets after its December 8 release. DTLR has created special custom store merchandise packaging and wrapped promotional vehicles where products are also available for purchase. The tour kicks off November 27 in Atlanta, GA (full schedule below).

“We wanted to create a partnership with a lifestyle retailer that directly struck a chord with Clipse’s core fan base in an innovative way. T-shirts are a staple of the urban fashion lifestyle so what better way to connect with fans than through this,” says Anthony Ellis, Vice President of Marketing, Sony Music.

The partnership with Clipse also presents an opportunity to raise awareness of DTLR’s community outreach programs. New Clipse track, “Back by Popular Demand” featuring Cam’ron and Pharrell.

Pretty good track, Clipse comes through with something solid, like they usually do and Pharrell lights it up with that signature Neptunes beat and the chorus.  I hear you Pharrell, but I don’t see you!  What’s up with that?  The video is pretty raw, just eatin’ some Popeye’s and fries on the streets of New York.  And Killa Cam is starting to look kind of…old, right?  Click on the picture above to link to the video over at Kanye’s Blog.

“When I first met Yung Breeze, he was a struggling youth who had a great sense of pride, an enormous gift of expression, and a knack for conveying his particular genius through the local street venacular of the areas hoods and ruffians. Originally recording at one of the illest and most infamous studios in the shadier side of town, Psyche Ward, Yung Breeze was picked up and developed by the genius of the wonder twins, Boss and Ripp.” Collectively, these forces of the city’s darker and far more dangerous neighborhood known as Southwest Houston, Soufwest to the locals, have come to the forefront in recent days.”

Joe Stern-McGovern can personally vouch for the validity of the young anti-hero as through his entrancing telling of the first photo shoot the act was to experience as the entity which would come to be known as the Soufwest Brigade, or simply, The Brigade, led by street veteran and surprising genius given his circumstances, DTA, “Don’t Trust Anyone”, a meeting in which the photographer was so terrified, he insisted the photo shoot take place in broad daylight in a local downtown Houston city park.

True to his name, DTA came to generally distrust those who held the strings to his future as well as his cohorts, and the split was made as DTA went MIA and Yung Breeze continued the journey on the road to stardom solo. For those dedicated and loyal fans of DTA, fear not, he is yet in his prime and will surely rise back to the surface given the timing, motive, and opportunity, as his tales are of equal importance to those of any and must be expressed through the venue known widely as hip hop.

Currently holed up in Al’s “In the Jar Studios”, Yung Breeze is deliberating the path of his next turn towards truth and the betterment of society and the world around him through analysis of the streets and the general feeling of the times.

I don’t know what is going on today and maybe because it’s Friday the 13th but there are so many good things going on right now I can hardly stand it.  The Clipse just leaked a video for their new joint, Door Man, which I posted a couple days ago and OF COURSE it is amazing.  Til The Casket Drops DROPS December 2nd but I have a feeling it leaked already or will soon.  Check out the official video for Door Man.  It’s beautiful to see The Clipse going so hard with this album.  We NEED this.
