The husband and wife team of Jody and Debbie Chidester of Plentiful Pantry grabbed TWO Best of Atlanta awards. While the mother-daughter pairing of Susan Dowdy and Sue-anna Dowdy Maley from The Orchards won for Best Chocolate.
The Chidesters have the Plentiful Pantry humming and scored Best Soup and Best Beverage. Their White Bean Chili earned the judges’ praise while their Mint Dark Chocolate De Chocolat Mix with Mint Rimmer was selected the top beverage.
“The only thing better than our packaging is the food inside,” said Debbie Chidester, “because you can get average at the grocery store.” The Chidesters created Plentiful Pantry in 1992.
The Best of Atlanta Awards are chosen by an independent group from among exhibitors at AmericasMart’s The Atlanta Gourmet Market, which runs through Sunday, Sept. 23. Ten categories of culinary delights are determined. The winners were announced Saturday morning at the Reveal Breakfast, Building 1, Floor2.
Susan Dowdy and her daughter have been in the candy business for 10 years. Their Best Chocolate winner was Deluxe Milk Chocolate Pecans.
“I think it’s the best chocolate-covered pecan, period,” Dowdy said. The judges agreed.

Price, Location or Amenities – Every housing project is no doubt a dream of many. While every potential buyer looks for best property spaces always, it cannot be denied that the builders’ looks to make profit on their own terms.
At the end it is YOU – the potential customer, buyer or the investor with whom the real fears, concerns and complaints lies.

So, here are listed the complaints/issues/fears faced by the investors who have invested in any of the Jaypee Greens projects. The Talking Brick collected this info from various online resources to assist you in making the firm decision.

1. Concern against the trustworthiness of Jaypee

Also, wonder why they have these plants, factories, industries in the middle of nowhere because they pay for nothing after bribes.I consider Jaypee to be worse than a small scale builder. They will continue this extortion for ages as long as there are enough suckers around. Consumer court cases etc doesn’t bother them much as defending in court is much cheaper than delivering. They will just sit on your money and get 15% return and use the same money to fight your legal case against them.Re-sale prices of Jaypee properties are down and infact less than what they were sold for, but people never cared to see a reason why? There is no brand value or quality with Jaypee, but just a crooked value.

Jaypee is for Noida what BPTP is for NeharPar. Atleast, latter started delivering some of the projects after being late by 3-4 years, but in case of Jaypee delay would be 6+ years or may be more.

2. Careless attitude of Jaypee dispatch team

I have asked them a simple question, if you dont intimidate me about the payment schedule in this modern age via mail / sms / phone callhow do you expect me to assume that a demand has been raised without even delivering a demand note.Hope someone in JAYPEE KRESCENT HOME reads this and looks into my case. Because till now all my letters have fallen to deaf ears so now i will put it on forums till they take notice.

send them a legal notice from an attorney. Just like cell phone companies used to send to its customer who did not pay the bill.

Its not a court notice on summon, Its just a way of notifying/asking your question legally.

They will reply to it.

3. Choosing and Abandoning Jaypee

I was very interested in JPWT after having narrowed it down from several projects after months of reading through IREF and site visit to JPWT and several discussions with broker
My reasons for choosing JPWT were
—solid reputation of builder
— very good location of project
— whole town will be maintained bY builder only so roads/institutions/malls/hospital/school/college going to come up and would be well maintained
— snob value of Jaypee name
— very competitive/good going rates presently of most projects (in the MIG range flats)

BUT………….!!!!!

I HAVE NOW ABANDONED THIS PROJECT …….
Reasons—-

The projects are sooooo severely delayed that for ordinary people like us who dream of one dream home in one lifetime waiting 5 or more years after starting to invest is a STUPID idea . Specially with so many good projects also on offer all over NCR.
ALl Jaypee projects are delayed WITHOUT EXCEPTION, they have not delivered a SINGLE project in Wishtown till date !!!! it is only going to be liveable by Minimum 5to 7 YEARS !,by that time you can be happily sleeping in your home in many other projects .
What gets my goat is that every few months they announce a new project/township/ golf course etc etc despite bothering to complete older projects first. Jaypee being multi-multi -multi billionaires do not need money from a previous project to fund there next project, a very commonly used strategy by small builders. Then WHY DON’T THEY FINISH ONE PROJECT AND THEN START THE NEXT.???? neither should they be earning interest from investors deposits if their intentions are clear. This suspicion of mine was further cemented after reading details of a Investor -Jaypee meet held on 12th may inJPWT .it was very acrimonious and JAYPEE flatly refused to increase the late delivery penalty from a paltry 5 rupees /sq foot/month to 18 % interest penalty as demanded by the flat owners association. If Jaypee had any decency they would have apologised to the investors and agreed for a compromise or some gesture etc.
You please go through the postings of these flat owner associations of Japyee and YOU WILL BE DISGUSTED HOW THEY ARE BEING TREATED BY Jaypee. In these times where builders run after investors and treat them with respect , here it is opposite !!! The flat owners associations are going to file case/cases in consumer court/high court against JP . This is another reason I don’t want to get involved in this shit. They are having to pool in money for the lawyers etc !!!!

Also the Jaypee people are not involved in direct selling of their projects . It is outsourced to different realty companies like BOP, RenaissnaceRealty etc etc. This is perfect smoke screen on JPs part I believe. the customer care operators of Jaypee hence have no clue on project updates, give different answers to same query at different times. Even the project managers of different projetcs give different dates of completion for their projects !!!!
On top of that recent court ruling ordering demolition of a 100 crore Jaypee cement plant in Himachal due to gross violations of laws/bribery/collusion with state officials etc etc exposed Jaypee also as no different from the cheap type local mafia builders….
Due to all this I lost all faith in ALL their projects.

pleas note — I am not a Jaypee BASHER OR ANTI JAYPEE or anything .. ( my F in Law was ED in jaypee cement )If they mend their ways I would be the first to buy my dream home in Kensington Boulevard 3bhk ! I am not a broker or property dealer . I am still looking for my ideal flat for investment……
Cheers!

4. Jaypee frauds exposed

i booked in 2008 jaypee wishtown klassic and now its 2011 and NO CONSTRUCTION only basement has been done in 3 years . jaypee knew it from the very beginning and thus has cheated investors to an extent of delaying the construction . he has also taken more than 50 % of the total cost without doing a thing!!! this is a clear case of cheating and fraud and top to bottom all employyes of jaypee are hand in glove ..till date NOBODY has recieved any response from jaypee cheats !! seems dharnas and slogan shouting infront of jaypee office will only help ! this fraud builder needs to be dragged to court !!

Jaypee is deliberately doing delay tactics as paying 5 rs per sq feet is easy and CHEAP loan at the cost of our hard earned money.

I suggest to all AVOID JAYPEE like plaugue if u dont want to be treated like beggars and dont want to offer 50 lakhs free credit to jaypee . Banks are also not funding many of their projects !! they are being exposed and will soon face the brunt !!

TO jaypee: Cheats your game will be up soon , launching one “paper project” after another you are fooling alot of people and taking their hard earned money . you will be dragged to court and penalised for u r misdeeds and games you have played with peoples money .

7. Complaint against Jaypee Greens Aman

Manoj Bhai,

Hope you are doing well. Please tell your relative to stay away as whatever the price is, this project is not worth it. I would not even consider it for Rs 1500/sqft as the intentions of JP are quite clear. As I said before, some of the small builders are better than JP, because JP knows too much about this game and also how to cheat the customers. Her is my take on the project:

1. Project was launched more than 2 years ago, but still there is nothing more than excavation work on the site.

2. Area is quite far from the action and would take easily 10+ years to develop. It is in sector-151, which is farther from actual Noida and also from Pari Chowk.

3. Only advantage is that it is right on the expressway, but everything around this is kind of Jungle and closest thing is Pari Chowk, about 5 Kms. Instead of calling it Noida, I would call it G. NOida as it is closer to latter than former.

I would like to say again – Buying anything with JP is a mistake.

8. Complaint against non-cooperation of Jaypee Greens officials

BEWARE EVEN BUILDER JAYPEE CAN DUPE YOU

By: APES | Apr 30, 2011 12:41 PM

Dear friends,
I had booked a flat in Pavilion Court Jaypee Greens Noida on 27 Apr 2008 and was allotted flat in Pavilion Court tower No 5 vide allotment letter dated 14 Jun 2008.
In last one year I have made at least four site visits and every time I was shown PVC 5 building under construction. During interaction with the CRM personnel, Ms Aradhana Talwar, Ms Shashi Singh, Ms Monica and Mr Venktesh I was told that the project is on schedule and during my last visit PVC5 building was shown as constructed up to fifth floor.
Satisfied with the progress of construction I requested for change over from construction linked payment (CLP) to down payment (DP) plan and made payment of Approx 95% of total cost. Not only this I even mortgaged the house to bank for obtaining loan of remaining amount.

As per the allotment letter dated 14 Jun 2008 the flat is to be delivered with in a period of 36 months hereof . However, in the last week March 2011 i.e Just 2 month before scheduled date of handing over I was telephonically informed that the PVC 5 building is not being constructed. They called me to their office and showed deep concern and promised a bigger house. But after two days they informed that management is not agreeing to it. I wrote to their CEO Ms Rita Dixit, Mr KC Batra Director Commercial but no reply. They do not pick up the phone.
So if any one of you or your dear one has booked or planning to book the flat with Jaiprakash Associates in Noida watch out and take adequate precautions.

The Orchards, kristal Court, Klassic Heights, HeartBeat City and Hanging Gardens may be the talk of

The Orchards, kristal Court, Klassic Heights, HeartBeat City and Hanging Gardens may be the talk of the town of Noida these days. The Talking Brick went to these project sites and collected data from on-site people, brokers and individuals associated with the two developers.

1. As per the broker, in Kristal Court residents will get lesser view of green area as the towers face each other. People are also afraid of investing in Jaypee due to their lack of commitment and promises. Jaypee Group had to deliver Kosmos project by the year 2012. At present, the project is already delayed by over 2-3years. On the other hand, Jaypee Group has also signed a Provisional Builders’ Agreement with the people who have invested in their projects according to the broker.

2. At the Amrapali project sites, the construction work is going on speedily. According to the broker, at Amrapali Hanging Gardens, a good flat can be bought at the price of Rs.80-90 lakhs. In Kristal Court, the buyer needs to invest in a total of Rs.1.6 crores for the same apartment type. Also the construction work has neither started in Kristal Court nor at The Orchards.

At the same time, it is also essential to compare these projects by Jaypee Greens and Amrapali Group on the basis of few yet important parameters to analyse their worth as an investment option. On the basis of the information collected, the comparison chart given below will present the information precisely:

The Talking Brick went to the Jaypee Greens Wishtown Noida on the 7th of September to enquire and collect information about their two projects namely The Orchards and Kristal Court. The information collected by us is listed below:

1.As per the people associated with the Jaypee Group, Pavillion Court is a better residential option in comparison to The Orchards since the location of the Orchards is not welcoming as it faces the Nangli village. In fact, according to them, buyers find more potential in Gurgaon in comparison to Noida.

2. The Jaypee Group has also signed a Provisional Builder-Buyer Agreement with the individuals who have bought the property.

3. The Orchards faces the Nangli village where the lower middle-class families live. It offers the far-off view of the Golf Course as it is located at the distance of 2kms from kristal Court.

4. The construction work at both these project sites hasn’t started yet, the project are expected to take 5-6 years before they will be ready for possession according to the on-site people.

5. According to the broker, people who have invested in Jaypee aren’t happy at present since other projects like Amrapali, Gaursons and Supertech are coming up in close proximity to Jaypee Wishtown. In fact, other projects will be ready for possession in about one year time. As per him, the rate of the projects other than Jaypee ranges from Rs.3800/sq ft-Rs.5000/sq ft that makes them quite cheaper than what Jaypee Group is offering.

6. The 2BHK area in Kristal Court is advertised to be 1850 sq ft; contrarily, actual area is 1234sq ft.

The comparison table below will offer the project features in a better form to analyse :

In support of their debut record, ‘The Orchard’ have released their first video to accompany the Dead Town EP.

Since forming in the Spring of 2011, ‘The Orchard’ have created their own distinct niche. They are the welcome outcasts, always well received at Hardcore, Punk or Metal shows, without ever confirming to one precise genre.

This wide appeal can be traced back to the bands’ diverse span of influences, which ranges from Guns N’ Roses, Down, Black Sabbath to contemporary bruisers such as Every Time I Die & Cancer Bats.

In the Video ‘Dead Town’ the scarred concrete landscape of the band’s Midlands home town provides the scrawled backdrop for this magnificent chunk of metallic bombast.

With stinging guitars, searing vocals and a punishing percussion this songs grunge filled cataclysmic lyrics and drippingly grimy arrangement sees the band in fine fettle.

The power and attitude shines in every verse. Energetic and victorious – the song (and video) is charged with threatening urban-sprawl indolent imagery. Vital!

Residents concerned about on-course drinking

By Kristin Will
Staff Writer, kwill@turley.com

SOUTH HADLEY – An application by The Orchards Golf Club for an Extension of Premises to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages on the course green has residents concerned over potential unsupervised drinking.
The Selectboard held two public hearings last Tuesday to discuss the application for not only The Orchards, but The ledges Golf Club, as well.
Currently, both golf clubs do not have the proper permission to allow the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages outside of their clubhouses, but up until now, have been allowing it. Town Administrator Paul Beecher said the town was only recently made aware of its need to apply for such an extension before it could allow alcoholic beverages on the course. In April 2009, the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission [ABCC] made a “Commission action” creating guidelines to which it will follow when granting Extension of Premises applications for golf clubs and under Mass General Law chapter 138 section 12.
The appearance of a beverage cart selling an assortment of liquids, including alcoholic beverages, is a common practice on golf courses. Still, residents living close to The Orchards Golf Course are concerned.
“If you grant this extension for a license, you’re going to have people drinking unsupervised,” said Silverwood Terrace resident and Orchards Golf Club Member Alistair Catto, adding it would “increase the likelihood of people driving in an intoxicated manner.”
Orchards Golf Club Member Bill Ingham said the allowance of alcoholic beverages on the green “is no different than any other golf course I’ve been to. If you were not to grant this extension, you would put them [The Orchards] in a class where they are not similar to those in the area.” Ingham said if not granted, the Selectboard would be “devaluing the value of the members. And long-term, you’re going to put The Orchards out of business.”
The Orchards General Manager Jim Stickels said his club’s beverage cart operates mid-day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as when the golf club hosts a charity event. Last year, The Orchards held 13.
Stickels said his staff is Training for Intervention Procedures [TIPS] certified, which means they are trained to recognize the signs of someone who may have had too much to drink. In the event the staff does find someone who has indeed had too much to drink, the golfer will then no longer be served alcohol. Selectboard Member Frank G. Detoma asked Stickels if there had been any recent incidents in which a member was expelled from the club because of over-drinking. Stickels said there had not been since he took his position in 2005 and he was unaware of incidents where police were called.
Amherst Road resident Bruce Plichta cited an accident which occurred Aug. 28, 2010 when Joe Kareta was struck near the intersection of Brainerd and Alvord streets by Craig A. Barton, 43, of Springfield, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time. He was arrested and charged with manslaughter by motor vehicle, motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of alcohol for a second offense, a marked lanes violation and speeding.
“This is what happens when you allow drinking at The Orchards,” said Plichta. “Do you want more people to die?”
South Hadley Police Lt. Steven Parentela would not confirm nor deny that Barton was at the Orchards Aug. 28, 2010.
Plichta said he had observed one instance where he witnessed a “drinking station set up at numerous holes.” At that event, Plichta said golfers consumed alcoholic drinks until 4 p.m., at which point they entered the clubhouse. “People were staggering out of the clubhouse,” he said. “It’s best for the town to have a family friendly environment.”
Stickels refuted the description of the alcohol consumption, saying, “it’s grossly exaggerated.”
He added that in regard to complaints about speeding and noise, the golf club sent out letters to its members to be “mindful” of the residents and to maintain safe speeds. “We’re going to remain proactive and I understand we do have neighbors that abut the golf course,” said Stickels.
John Baker, who has played golf for more than 20 years at The Orchards, said he thinks “it’s quieter now than it was 10 to 15 years ago.” He added the Selectboard would be “doing them a disservice” if they denied The Orchards the opportunity to sell alcohol on their course.
The public hearing for The Ledges Golf Club, held prior to The Orchards’ public hearing, was not as heated. Beecher said The Ledges hosts between 10 and 20 tournaments in a typical year.
The Selectboard has the power to approve or deny the applications for Extension of Premises. They did not take action during the public hearings and said they would make motions during their next scheduled meeting on April 7.
