…Sho’Nuff is a fictional character played by Julius Carry in Barry Gordy’s classic 1985 action film The Last Dragon.  He’s the main villain in the film and went by the moniker “Shogun Of Harlem”.

For our second and loooooong overdue installment of “BadA**”, we chose Sho’Nuff because he was the “baddest mo-fo, low-down, around the town”.  First of all, a shogun… in Harlem????  Makes no sense right?  The movie Last Dragon managed to blend two cultures together and Sho’Nuff was the catalyst.  shonuffcartoon

He walked around in urbanized samurai gear with his entourage and just handed out L’s to anybody brave enough to stand up against him lol.  He also spawned the popularity of the shutter shades that Kanye West made even more popular in the video Stronger. 

Sho’Nuff has also been an inspiration behind some other things in pop culture.  Busta Rhymes dressed up as Sho’Nuff to pay homage in his music video for Dangerous.  Sho’Nuff is also the name of a Fatboy Slim song.  He’s also the inspiration behind the record label, with the same name, started by Jazzy Pha.  We’ll leave you with his famous monologue…

1985: The world watches in wonder as Motown Records founder Berry Gordy presents his modern day cinematic masterpiece The Last Dragon. 

2008: The world mourns as news outlets report the death of Julius Carry III.  Details of his death have not yet been released.
