Iliae’s turning 70, I took a break during the server hiatus to play my sims. More specifically, to play WoW via my sims. Meet SimDaeryan and SimIlly. I <3 them, particulairly SimDaeryan, because he makes faces without posing haxorz while SimIlly just wanted to birdwatch and skill. Nerd.

… meaning it’s another “I’m still way behind on Chapter 6, don’t expect it out any time soon, but I’m still alive and please don’t forget about me!” posts.  You guys must be so sick of these.  Crap – I know I am, and I’m the one who posts them!

I know I’m behind on reading some of my favorite Sims stories, responding to comments here and at Boolprop, and pretty much everything else related to my activity in the community.  I’ll get around to catching up on all of these, I ~almost~ promise!  LOL  Between laying around with morning all day sickness and the flu (even though I had both of my flu shots dammit) on top of that, it’s a wonder I get anything done.  But I did manage to read the most recent WoT book (MiEhrynn: I’ve been meaning to PM you to see if you’ve read it/finished/would like to discuss) as well as The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.  So at least I’ve done something… right?

In the meantime, I was wondering… would anyone be interested in some (if I can get the damn things to work) Default Replacement witch and warlock hats to match the wonderful DR sets at Garden of Shadows created by Ja and Epiphany?  I love these two sets, but it riles me to see the EAxis colored hat.  Things must match!  I’ve gotten the recolors themselves to look how I want, now it’s just a matter of binning them/making them DR.  That might take a bit of hair pulling on my part (I tried binning the hats already but apparently I played around with the settings too much because they are still custom, and I’ve never made DR hair before), but if I get them to work, I will definitely share them. 

It’s just a little something I’m working on while I wait to feel good enough to fire up the game to take pictures.  I’ve played some certain minor-character families (*cough* a certain house full of vampires with one zombie and an ~unrevealed~ supernatural as well as the household of an OMG-new! character *cough*) to a good saving point, so at least there’s that.  But I just haven’t taken any non-extras pictures yet.  I’d love to go ahead and share the extras I have, because they are pretty freaking funny, but several of the pictures are a spoiler, so I can’t.  Dammit.  LOL

Okay, so I ran out of blog title ideas ) So i decided to use one of Italy’s (Axis Powers Hetalia) many famous er… sounds? XD

I haven’t posted anything in about a month and all I can blame are:

• FACEBOOK (It’s literally taking over my life XD)
• The Sims 2 (I recently downloaded it on my Mac and now i’m hooked!)
• Warcraft 3 (Reign of Chaos and Frozen throne)
• MININOVA (The urge to download more games is killing me!!!)

Yup, instead of saying I forgot to blog, I give you a list of excuses reasons on why I forgot about this blog.

Oh right. I forgot to mention, yesterday was my birthday but the streets were mostly empty because everyone was in the cemetery honoring the dead (I was born on All Soul’s Day)

We went to Podium and my aunt got me SKULLCANDY GI HEADPHONES, the headphones of my dreams.

You’ve probably read a bunch of reviews and most of them are bad reviews. Well, I kind of felt discouraged on asking for these too after reading lots of reviews. But, I took the plunge and asked for them anyway. And they’re actually very comfortable and I like the sound quality (but that’s just my opinion)

My cousins and friend got me gifts today.

Luito and Bella (my cousins) got me a “How to write winning reports and essays” book and 2 birthday cards. Luito admitted that he just found that book while they were fixing up his house ) But I told him I liked it anyway (which I really do ). And Kyle got me a plastic Naruto Kunai which made me freeze for a while thinking “YESS!!”. Kyle told me it was only 180 pesos so it was okay if I broke it. I didn’t know how to react to that )

Okay. My creative juices have stopped flowing…I’m gonna get some sleep now.

Well, if you haven’t noticed, I have not updated with Chapter 6… and I was really hoping to get it out in time for Halloween.  So, what have I been doing?  I haven’t really been working on the chapter.  I have played Sims a few times, and yes, one of those times was involving the legacy folks.  But mostly I have been doing something that has been very physically draining but also very important…

… I have been growing another person.  LOL

Sean and I are so happy and so, so excited!  So yeah, not much has been going on with Shadows and Blood because most of the time I’m laying down feeling sick.  I have some medicine for nausea, but it makes me soooo sleepy (and I’m already pretty sleepy – growing another person is hard work; all I really do is sleep and eat).  I can’t stand to look at the game for too long because the camera rotations turn my stomach, and normally I have a very high tolerance for that sort of thing.  I’m hoping that I’ll start feeling better soon, because I’d like to crank out as many chapters as possible before the big day (which is set for 01 June 2010 right now).  I am planning on continuing the legacy after the baby is born, but I can’t make any promises on how frequent the updates will be.

I just wanted to let you all know where I’ve been… again. 

On a more Simmy note, is anyone else using Aquilegia’s You Are What You Eat skins (from GoS) as defaults?  And if you are, have you noticed something very bad happening with your vampires’ fangs?

I’ve forced errors, moved out/back in, changed appearances, added makeup/taken away makeup, cured vampirism/reinstated vampirism… and all of it makes no difference.  I even switched the skintones of the Carmichael family from the default to the custom version of the skin they use, and Roger and Addie both still have the black spaces on their fangs (I was thinking that somehow the defaults I made from the skins were the problem – I’m using a slightly different set than what she provided as defaults).  The only thing I haven’t tried is taking out my vampire hacks (such as this one which allows my vampires to keep their original skin and eyes; honestly, if I had to choose, I’d find a new skin set before I got rid of this).  It wasn’t happening with the Lyran skins, and I am not looking forward to finding a new set of defaults.  I’ve waited so long to use these, dammit!  It looks like I may just have to PhotoShop any fang pictures in upcoming chapters if I can’t figure out what’s causing the problem and come up with an acceptable solution.  Boo hiss!

And lastly, I thought you guys might like to know about this most unholy of unions.  XD

I know that some people have asked for me to write a history about my ED in the past but I never have because I’ve been clueless as to how to talk about it. This weekend, one of my diary entries resulted being a very heart felt look into my ED history. I’m not sure if it is very in depth but I wanted to share it with you guys anyway, along with the entries from the rest of my weekend. (and pictures, of course)

October 9, 2009, 2:34 P.M.

Breakfast: 1/2 c. Ezekiel Golden Flax cereal in 4 oz. Lucky Laya Farms drinkable plain yogurt topped with 1 Clif Nectar chocolate fruit & nut bar and blueberries. Carnation Instant Breakfast.

Lunch: Welsh Rarebit with 2 slices of sliced toast. On the side: tomatoes and almonds.

“I just finished eating lunch. I prepared an entrée of welsh rarebit over slices of whole wheat toast for the ladies. I feel very proud of myself, not only because my fear of complex home cooked meals has ebbed, but because I ate it. This is my new fascination with cooking.

Back in “the dark times,” I would cook all the time. Of course I used to cook. I was a malnourished girl who needed to make contact with food by some means. The act of cooking is not what has changed. What has changed is what occurs after the cooking.

“Hello, I’m not sure why I am writing this right now as I am currently surrounded by people. Perhaps I am just rude but you see, my home is a boisterous party right now. I have a young girl named Cadence inhaling a plate of spaghetti on my kitchen table while her promiscuous mother plays “looksies” with a gentleman across the room. Little does she know… there is a siamese cat named Sanura splattering kitten chow all over her Christian Louboutins! I don’t think any of the gentlemen she slipped her number to will be giving her a call.Unfortunately, this juicy tale is not a reality. The only juicy tale tonight is the fact that I am stuck at home on a Friday night with no plans or friends to talk to. This is the life I live. Every day is the same story.

I don’t know what to do with myself sometimes. Perhaps it is because I have become “distant” as people at school said? Every time one of my peers talked to me, I’d have to formulate something to say. Nothing is natural anymore. With my family it is, but I don’t know how to communicate with other people anymore.

Charles used to be one of the only friends I was actually truly, truly myself with. You know, not the “anorexic Karina.” The last time I ate lunch with him at school I was the speechless Karina, the girl who forces herself to say rehearsed things…

I miss being a girl who had friends over every Friday and Saturday. I think the last time I REALLY was this girl was in 8th grade.. I looked over these pictures that my friend Emily posted tonight from our past and the last one I could remember being happy in was in 7th, early 8th grade.

I thought that my eating disorder started the summer before my sophomore year, but I think that things began to formulate in the 8th grade when I started to think I was fat.

I recall a scene where I was walking down the halls of my middle school, 8th grade dance photos in hands, and I said to my friend: “my thighs look so fat.” I wanted to lose weight so bad.

I would plan my outfits around what I would look skinnier in and hated my thighs so much. I’d always say things like: “my diet starts tomorrow” and celebrate my “last night” every night by eating donuts and half a box of teddy grahams with milk. Hah, such a typical thirteen year old. I know. But it became a thing where all I asked people and thought about was: “how do I look?” If a boy didn’t look at me, I would think I was not skinny nor pretty enough for him.

Cecily would always get annoyed at me and tell me that things weren’t always about looks and that I was too vain. I was just unhappy with myself on the inside because I was not enough. I hated myself so much. To me, the way I looked was EVERYTHING. It became my goal to be and look PERFECT at all times. I remember feeling this way at age 13.

In 9th grade that is when I started feeling out of control. I had a boyfriend who I felt very insecure about (I always thought he was cheating on me with his ex-gf) and my beloved friend and best friend at the time started spending a lot of time together… leaving me out of things… sharing inside jokes I was clueless about. I remember their friendship caused me a lot of pain at that time. I’d even cry because they were one of my only friends and I felt so alone. I just started crying right now just writing about it.

I vastly grew apart from both (I miss one of those girls SO much). My only friend was my boyfriend (who I broke up with January of 2008) and my best friend in Chicago. To top it off my mother would constantly nag me about my grades.

When sophomore year came along, I was already starving myself. My little diet started over the summer and this time, I actually followed through with it because I was going to become the smart, thin girl that everyone would love that year. That meant consuming only small amounts of lean meat, apples, and fiber one.

I met a boy that fall, who I liked a lot. Of course, my mother forbade our relationship since he was almost 20. He liked both me and some anorexic girl that lived in another state. I remember there was one night where I could not stop crying and I was texting him about how I would never be good enough for my mom. She was never happy with my grades or anything. I even started losing weight over the summer since she told me I couldn’t afford to gain a pound (I didn’t tell him that though..)

Well, that boy chose the anorexic girl over me. Little did he know that 6 months later, I’d be lying in a hospital bed because I was an anorexic girl too.”

“Haha, another _:49 entry. I love coincidences.

Breakfast: 2 slices of cake with 1/2 tbsp. of Smart Balance and lingonberry preserves, fruit salad, almonds, and coffee. On the side: Oikos greek yogurt and 2% milk!

Today, I told myself no exercise today since I don’t feel very well and I’m kinda freaked out about this. I had cake for breakfast: major ED homicide.

I went to Old Town Spring yesterday, my favorite place to visit. It is so antiquey and winsome. I can’t help but feel carefree when i am there. I visited a little German and Dutch shop while I was there and decided that when the new year comes, I am going to learn the language I have always wanted to acquire: German. No one is going to keep me from studying it this time!

I want to move to Germany when this is all over and bring my immediate family with me. I never want to be away from my mommy and daddy. I told them this and they think Germany sounds splendid!

As a celebratory move, I purchased lingonberry preserves and German ginger cake! Ate that for breakfast. It was so yummy. I love how whole rye flour is used in all German products I’ve seen. Even desserts.

My nutritionist said it is okay for me not to exercise. I mean I dance all week, right? The scary thing is my abs looked less firm today so I keep thinking I should at least do ab exercises. But that would be letting ED win, and my psychologist told me not to give in to what ED tells me to do but what Karina wants to do. Karina wants to take a break and rest today. I guess Karina wins?

I need someone to tie me to a chair and keep me away from the pilates bands! Hahaha.”

Soo.. i bought the JLS book recently and have fallen in  love with Aston all over again I mean he’s just the sweetest thing ever!! I’ll try and put a video in later but i don’t know if i will be able too hope i can cause i love that video I really should be doing my ICT homework right now, but i cant be asked so i’ll just say i ‘forgot’ it. Anyways back to Aston my future husband  Ah that would be soo cool Nikki Merrygold Ahh i just love JLS music so much LETS JUST GET BACK TOGETHER WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BROKE UP [8] haha EVERYBODY IN LOVE PUT YOUR HANDS UP [8] I’m so glad I’m well again (I’ve been off ill for 2 days with a bloody awful cold.) just basicly been sitting around reading (jls and harry potter) and simming for like 2 days straight. Oh and sneezing alot of sneezing. When i first started this post i was going to call it ‘I don’t get why sims don’t shave’ but i decided not to because that would have been like a sentence long. But that all started cause i was making Aston on the sims and i couldnt find the right facial hair so i was thinking about sims shaving. I did eventually find the right facial hair by the way, then i found out that it had side burns and seeing as Aston dosnt have sideburns i had to modify them which really didn’t take long so i have finally made him. He’s not fantastic but he’s for personal use only so i don’t mind too much. There was other stuff i wanted to say but it has completely floated out of my head. Soo.. i’m gonna include some pictures of Aston And JLS I would put my Aston (sims version) but i really cant be asked to find him and then screen shot him. Plus he’s crap so.. i dont really want people to see him, not that people look at this blog or anything, i dont really get why i bother writing in it to be honest. Especially since i have taken the link off of my facebook page. I think i’ll put it back in right now, and add a link in my status. Ohh!! I found something to write about! The latest Snap!! It was like totally awsome!! Me and Grace slept over at evelyn s house so it was very fun! Lol the actual disco was agony because of my shoes but after i had taken them off i was fine. I love snap so much, i hated my outfit that i was wearing though. I cant wait till the next one because i’m going to wear my tutu that i bought when i was out with evelyn. It’s sooo nice Ahh cant wait. The actual sleepover at evelyn’s was great. Ahh the phone call Cost me £7!! They were like ‘do you have minutes cause this is going to cost you loads??’ i was like oh shit i fogot about that So i thought i should check my credit now and i only had £2 so i was like EXPENSIVE PHONE CALL it was for 40 minutes though  Anyway i have nothing left to talk about so i’m going to go now. As promised, here are the outtakes for Chapter 5!  Once again, be aware that if you haven’t read the corresponding chapter, these outtakes may contain spoilers!  There are a lot of pictures (this was a long chapter, not only in the amount of time it took to write, but the number of pictures it contained) as well as hover text for almost all of the pictures (only a couple don’t have it).  As usual for the outtakes, the description text is above the pictures.

I really should have written these outtakes as I went along… but I wasn’t expecting this chapter to take six months, so hopefully I can remember what’s going on in all of these pictures!  LOL  Bear with me here folks, this might take a while.

Ah, okay.  I remember what happened here.  Out of nowhere, Adelaide decided to go wash the windows, and at the same time, Roger decided to look out of them.  I thought it was really cute, and his thought bubble makes it seems like he’s wondering what she’s doing!  The last one isn’t as good because you can’t really see Roger, but I decided to include it anyway.

And here’s where Chance and Mireille became teenagers.   Feel free to point and laugh at Chance’s hair and clothes.  I know I did!

Mireille on the other hand, looks okay (not the best choice in outfits, but certainly a lot better than her brother’s).

And of course, they both grew up Platinum.

Woot!  I never told you guys that Adelaide achieved her LTW did I?  As you can see, the last skill point she needed was for Body.  I didn’t feel like including this information in the chapter because it wasn’t really relevant to the story.    And as you can see in the background, Chance is greeting his wolf friend.

I know I teased a few of you at boolprop with this little tidbit, but I guess I can show you now who rolled up the Want… as if you didn’t already know who it was.

Back to Adelaide… out of curiosity, I wanted to see what her new LTW was.  Good thing I don’t have to worry about it, right?

I was so proud of the job I did building the Quick Stop Grocery (that’s a nice Clerks reference there for anyone who didn’t catch it) that I took a couple of pictures.  Of course, it’s really not that great… but I kind of suck at building community lots, so for me, it’s really good!

Is it weird that the grocery store is next to the library from Chapter 1?  God it took FOREVER to stack those grocery carts up.  LOL

And here’s another example of my laziness.  I’m not sure if I said this before or not, but Roger’s “apartment” from Chapter 2 is really the upper level to the lot where the Elders live.  They live on a set, rather than a fully functioning house, and I decided to recycle Roger’s apartment into Mehrissa’ private quarters.

I didn’t need to convert the entire space though, and I was pleased with the end result.  The extra space in the room was needed to get just the right camera angle for picture 2.

If anyone was wondering why Violet Joque was chosen to be Mireille’s best friend… well, that’s because she is!  Of course, Mi has lots of best friends, but Violet is special because she was the first female friend that Mireille ever brought home from school.  But things didn’t start off so great between them… what with Mi being Mi.

Mi’s friendly pursuits go much easier when Sims of the opposite sex are involved.  Well, almost.

Here we go – much better!  Mi’s first kiss with Connor Barthelet…

I think Addie has some very different plans for the boy.  (And yes, these are slightly out of order… that’s Oliver you see at the bottom of the family panel.  I made him selectable and then changed his hair and clothes… and um, face.  He had the same face as Connor, which is the Ben Long face.  I’m not against the Ben Long face, but I think one is enough, don’t you?  And technically there already is a character with that face: Knut – one of the Elders.)

Mi kept rolling up the want to throw a party, and I find parties to be much easier when there’s only one or two guests.  I had her throw a party and invite one guest, and then just call up and invite other friends over (not via the party menu).  I think she had a good time at the party… and I think the boy did too (yes, a totally different boy, this one’s name is Komei Dennis).  I love how Chance and Roger are reacting to her goosing him.  Roger looks especially affronted with his hand thrown up to his chest like that (Mi’s flirt interrupted his whistling)!  XD

When Chance was told to flirt with Lorie for the first time (they were already friends/Best Friends/BFF’s thanks to lots of phone calls), he accepted happily.  I think she looks happy too!

Adelaide had several WTF? moments this chapter.  I know she’s old, but I never expected her to get senile.  Note the Want that’s being hovered over, and then look at the table.  See what I see?

And really, what’s the point of this?  Come on, Addie!  It’s still raining for crying out loud!

And why?  Just… WHY?!?  Why would you WANT that?  And yes… she’s naked, which is really random and sooooo not like her.

Then, she and Roger both had a “senior moment”.

Before Mi’s and Addie’s heart-to-heart, I was playing around with everyone on freewill.  I went to Mi’s room to get her ready for the shot, and this is what she was doing.  She does this A LOT.

And, I don’t know if anyone noticed in the chapter or not, but poorly photoshopped phone is poorly photoshopped.    I used a “blue screen” (a bright and flood-filled blue wallpaper I made just for such purposes) and took several close photos of Chance holding the phone, then I used Gimp to edit the phone in.

I built the lot that Mireille “works” at just so I could take pictures of her at “work”, but she did actually have a job in the Athletic career path… which she excelled in.

While play-testing the gym lot, Chance showed up to work out.  Just look at him go (if you can – of course he just had to go and pick the treadmill that was damn-near impossible to take pictures of)!

Here’s a few random pop-ups that I can’t remember why I saved.  Hmmm.

Except for these two; I remember why I saved these.  The first is one of the many times Mi wanted to bring someone home from school… but wait a second, this guy is too old!  As you can see from which option is highlighted, I said NO.  WHY was he at her school?!?

And then I saved this one from the police station lot.  Fleetwood Mac fans will get a kick out of this one (even if it is misspelled).

Out of curiosity, I wanted to see the stats for “Wolfy” (his real name is Ajax).  I made him selectable, and took a quick peak.

Did you know that when the wolves are the “active Sim” their eyes don’t glow, but are actually two different colors?  How cool is that?!?

And while I’m showing you stats, here’s Servo’s (who will get a “real” name sometime later, when it/he becomes a major character).  And yes, the two shots of Servo where his face is showing were slightly photoshopped.  I added the Default Replacement eyes for Servos after I had taken those pictures… which is why his eyes are the regular ones here (I’m too lazy to photoshop outtakes pictures).

Pay no attention to the monetary amount you see here; remember, Servo was activated on Landgraab’s home lot, not the legacy lot. 

I don’t know if it weirded anyone out that Mireille had a somewhat romantic relationship with an older boy or not, but for those it bothered, you’ll be happy to know that none of the romantic interactions actually happened with Mi.  I didn’t feel like boolpropping Mi and Chance all over town (it screws up their ages and allows them to meet people they have no business knowing… yet), so I made two adult clones (using my saved, SimPE exported copies), and used them for several pictures in Chapter 5.  I used boolprop to age them down to teen once they were on a lot.  May I introduce to you the “Cakeisalie” family – consisting of “Candy-Ass” and “Bitch-Please”!

All of the gym shots, cemetery shots, and the police station shot were done using Bitch-Please.  Once I’m done with the clones, I’ll just kill them off (which will be weird, but I don’t really need two Mi’s or two Chance’s).  Eventually I did introduce the real Mireille to Toby, because his character will probably show up on the home lot at some point in the next chapter (or the chapter after that… I’m not really sure yet), but for now, they are only friends.  The rest of these pictures are all from lots other than the home lot, and are using Bitch-Please to fill in for Mireille.

Here I was trying out some poses for Toby… and I thought he looked silly.  Bitch-Please thinks so too.  At this point, his name isn’t Toby.  I ran into a wall trying to think of a name for him, and for a long time his name was “Hottie McHotson”.  LOL  I was talking about The Office with Joey, and we were laughing about how my cat Jakob is like the cat version of Toby Flenderson.  I said how Jakob’s face is like a cross between Toby and Vincent Price, and she blurted out “Toby Price!”.  I liked it so much that I used the name for Mireille’s older love interest!  And yes, he’s actually an adult, rather than a young adult.

After I installed Mansions and Gardens, I noticed how when you leave a Sim outside they just keep inhaling and exhaling with this goofy expression.  At first it was kind of cute, but now it just gets on my nerves (I have the hack to get rid of the “salute” thing they do).

Edited to Add:  Damn it all!  I knew I was forgetting something!  I wanted to pimp the cemetery lot – which is the incredible Coldcreek Cemetery at MTS, made by x_darkest_dreams_x.  I started to build my own cemetery lot (Moar Dead Than You), but I got impatient and decided to download one instead.  This is an amazingly well built lot!  I only changed a few things here and there to make it be exactly what I needed. 

Edited to Add (yes, again):  CRAP CRAP CRAP!  I can’t believe I forgot this!  Okay, so I know how in the game Servos don’t really have voices, and can’t really talk.  But when I write Servo’s lines, I hear a nice computerized voice in my head, which sounds exactly like the voice from “Fitter Happier” by Radiohead (from the album OK Computer).  For those of you not familiar with that “song”, this is a really cool interpretation video done using it.

Every night this long weekend I’ve gone to bed at 4. Even when I was tired, even when I was dosing. I still stayed up. I checked my email, I read funny stuff on the internet, I played The Sims, I chatted with friends. Whatever, but I didn’t go to bed. And, when you go to bed at 4, it’s damn near impossible to actually sleep late enough to get enough sleep, let alone enough sleep to make up for my chronically not sleeping enough during the week. Long weekends are supposed to be about rest, but instead of resting, I just stay awake. Because any email I got would really be that important. Because I really need to wait for my Sim to have a baby. I don’t know. Because sleeping doesn’t always seem like the best way to spend my time. I don’t know. But of course, when I’m tired all the next day, I regret my insomnia. But will that change my behavior? I don’t know.

I’ve been eating a lot lately too, maybe connected to the lack of sleep. Or maybe I just love cookies. But, I’ve been a pig lately. And, I completely lashed out in a passive aggressive and unfair way on a friend of mine yesterday. And, I’m not really as together as I’d like to be, though I have overall been doing better. And, I’ve had an off again, on again cold for three weeks now, and everytime I think it’s getting better, it gets worse instead. There’s a metaphor there, but then I’d descend back into the whining- and we certainly wouldn’t want that.

Chapter 5 is ready and is Twilight-bashing free (about freaking time, right?)!  In all honesty though, I didn’t really bash it in Chapter 4 (in case any one was offended – if you were, I’m sorry). I read those books and they certainly weren’t the worst thing I’ve ever read (I only truly hated, loathed, and detested the last one).  But come on, you know if an honest-to-God fry-in-the-sun vampire were to read those books they would probably have the same reaction Roger did.

Also, there are a lot of Point-Of-View changes in this chapter.  I couldn’t give each POV a new subpage because I would have ended up with something like 13 sub-pages (I’m just guessing here – I never did count the number of POV changes but trust me, there are a lot), and some of them would have only had two or three pictures (which is something I’m trying to avoid).  The sub-pages do separate points of view, as do the “***“.  I hope all the switching back and forth doesn’t confuse anyone too much!  If anyone does get too confused, please let me know if you have any ideas on how I can avoid it next chapter (assuming Chapter 6 has as many POV changes as Chapter 5 – I don’t know if it will yet because… I’ve not started on it yet).

And while I’m at it, how is the site loading for everyone?  Has anyone noticed if the layout looks any different?  Are any of you getting the dreaded horizontal scroll bar of doom?  Sean and I recently worked on the code for this blog, changing a few subtle things here and there.  We hope the new coding we implemented makes the blog shrink or grow depending on your screen resolution… we’re wondering if it worked.  So, if anybody has encountered any problems let me know and we’ll see what we can do. 

The outtakes for this chapter will be up sometime in the next few days – I really wanted to go ahead and get the chapter published considering I’ve been working on it since March.  Yikes.  I will also put up an heir poll when I publish the outtakes.  I haven’t decided yet whether I’m going to put up an heir poll at boolprop.com.  I don’t really want people voting for who they think should be heir if they don’t read the story, and I think that happens a lot over there (people just want to vote for a pretty Sim, they aren’t voting for the character).  Plus… I’m drifting away from that site more and more.  Maybe I’ve outgrown it.  I don’t know.  But now is not the time or place to discuss it. 

Finally (and back on subject – the chapter itself), please take note that the language warning for this chapter has been bumped up to “coarse”… a certain Sim likes to curse… a lot.  It’s not just the amount of curses, but the severity of the words used.  For the record, I would never write anything I wouldn’t feel comfortable with my mother reading, because she does in fact read this!  LOL

Hay quien cree que los Sims vivimos en la inopia, que no nos preocupa el mundo en que vivimos  ¡Nada más lejos de la realidad!

Sin ir más lejos, el otro día estuvimos de congreso. Nos reunimos para hablar de los problemas que tienen nuestros ríos ¡Ah, por cierto, me llamo Klodo! ¡Sí, de Clodomiiiraa! ¡Vaaale, menos risas! Soy la morena gafosilla, la de la izquierda. A lo que iba… Os decía… sí eso, que hablabamos de los ríos y para ilustrarnos sobre el tema invitamos a un investigador que se ha pasado media vida estudiando un animalillo que sufre cualquier cambio negativo que se produce en la calidad de los ríos, eso que llaman un indicador. Es el desmán de los Pirineos.

Aquí veis el cartel de la charla. ¡Es guapo el bichillo, eh…! Es pariente de los topos que habitan en huertos y jardines, pero este vive en la orilla del río, alimentándose de larvas y gusanillos que encuentra bajo las piedras ¡Vaya nariz más curiosa! Apenas pesa 70 gramos por lo que no hay que tenerle ningún miedo.

Calpurnio Piñón, que así se llamaba el conferenciante, nos dijo que durante el pasado siglo los ríos han cambiado mucho y siempre para peor. Que los hemos contaminado, les hemos quitado gran parte del agua, encauzado, hemos cultivado sus orillas, construido en sus márgenes,…. mil averias, y que todos esos cambios hacen que los animales tengan menos posibilidades de encontrar comida y lugares donde refugiarse. La situación es tan dramática que algunas especies corren el riesgo de desaparecer muy pronto.

Después de la charla el debate estuvo animado. Estábamos sorprendidos. Pensábamos que las cosas estaban mejor ¿Pero qué podemos hacer? – dijo alguien al fondo.

El Sr. Piñón dijo que ya hemos dado el primer paso. Que organizar el congreso e informarse era primordial. Que ahora tocaba ser más responsables en el cuidado del medio ambiente, consumir menos y mejor, reciclar, participar en acciones de voluntariado ambiental, exigir a nuestros gobernantes que recuperen nuestros ríos,… ¡Resulta que sí hay un montón de cosas para hacer!

Al final el Sr. Piñón ha continuado charlando con alguno de nosotros, aclarándonos algunas cosas. ¿Sabíais que el desmán solo vive en algunos ríos de montaña del norte de España y Portugal y en la cara francesa de los Pirineos? Por lo visto quedan muy pocos ¡Vaya responsabilidad que tenemos entre manos! ¿Seremos capaces de conservarlo?

Okay, so I know I should be working on Chapter 5, but I got a whole lot written the other night before WordPress crashed (and actually some while WP was crashing… I lost several pictures’ worth of text because the crash happened while I was saving… of course).  When I’m not working on it, I’ve been amusing myself by decorating/continuing to build the house I plan to move the Carmichaels into at some point.  I got a boost of creativity when it came the color scheme of the playroom, and decided to exit the game and make the wall I had in mind.

Of course, I got carried away and made several colors, and two versions of each color (“A” and “B”).  And while I was making these walls, I got even more carried away and decided to share the walls I was making.  I didn’t want to leave anyone out, so I made two more versions of each color (one for those without Apartment Life, and one for those with that expansion – because the AL ceilings “eating” the crown molding is something I really, really hate).

The only difference between “A” and “B” is the crown molding at the top of the wall; the “A” set (which I didn’t take preview pictures of, but the swatch for the AL version can be seen here) is just a little plainer than the “B” set.  Now I’m going to go ahead and warn you, if you try to slap an “A” wall next to a “B” wall, the color blocks won’t line up because the crown moldings are two different sizes.  My advice is to stick with one style of molding per room.
