So last week, my Editor sorta told me that GlamTings are doing an erm… ‘25 fav things’ type special editorial… I dunno… 2 commiserate us being 25? I dunno lol! Anyway so she asks me to do a top-25 songs list or something like that & in my head, I go ‘Pardon Me’, the exact same way Rob Gordon replied when the reporter asked him what his all-time top 5 records were, in the movie ‘High Fidelity’… & so in this movie High Fidelity, the reporter asks again ‘Your desert-island top 5?’, to which Rob replies ‘Oh Boy… in the club OR at home?’ and the reporter ignorantly asks if there’s a difference… Ofcourse there’s a difference & you guys can back me up on this BUT ‘Top 25 Songs?’… What? Love Songs? Gospel songs? Songs to make love to (as Distinctly different from love songs! Understand!), Easy Breazy Sunday Morning Songs? Angry Songs? Songs for the car? Songs for the bus? LIKE what are you tryna do to me out here???

Anyway so Rob eventually mentions 5 of his all-time desert-island favorite records & the reporter ventures to continue interviewing him BUT she CANNOT & you wanna know why? Because he keeps interrupting her to chop & change his all-time top 5 records… It’s near enough an impossible task for the likes of Rob & I… He ends up offering to make the reporter a tape… And… And… He calls the reporter the next week to change, yet again, his all-time top 5 records list!!! ‘WHERE AM I GOING WITH THIS?’ do I hear you ask? Oh figure it OUT, will ya? And oh top 5? top 25? Equally as impossible ok!

BUT this is what I say to my Editor… ‘Ok Cool x’! OK COOL? Somebody shoot me now! Please!

Alright so expect this to be a long & painful process, it might actually take US a long while to arrive at any comprehensive top 25 list on any level so you have duly been warned lol! & that’s why we’ll be dividing this mammoth exercise into PARTS… Jheez!

PART ONE… Because this is my favorite genre of Music at the moment… Top 25 Hip-Hop Records!?!?????? Ah ahn.. Ah Ahn! Nah I can’t! Let’s start off with something easier, we’ll ease in to the tougher lists (in a couple months maybe lol).

PART ONE… Top 25 Albums of the 21st Century!!! **I Keep digging a GRAVE for myself, don’t I?**

One thing I will say about this list is… The first draft had 70 records on it & I was thinking of changing this ‘top 25′ list to a ‘top 50′ list because it’d be so much easier & OMG I have had to cut out some of my all time favorite albums from the final list BUT alas, the show must GO ON… SO Without further adieu!!!

Slightly MISSING OUT however ARE…

Georgia Anne Muldrow – Olesi: Fragments of an Earth (2006)

Now most of you will probably NOT have heard this album… It’s your LOSS to be honest BUT what I will say though is, THIS is one of the very few R&B albums this decade that made this list because let’s be honest R&B in the 2000s lost its way… Fragments of an Earth is progressive music 4 your soul and I like it so there!

Blur – Think Tank (2003)

F**K what you heard alright, Damon Albarn is a MUSICAL GENIUS & this album proves it… This was Blur’s forray away from BritPop into more experimental sounds such as Dub, Jazz, Hip-Hop & World Music BUT still laced with gorgeous melodic sounds of their epic ‘ParkLife’ album… I find it interesting how most of the musical backdrop of this album is led by the BASS sounds as against the strings of a lead-guitar (YES Coxon the lead guitarist left the band around the time of recording BUT I think it’s more than that)… On a different week, this would be in my top 25 easily… That’s how much I love this album & how fickle this top 25 list can be!!!

Other Notable mentions from my original top 70 list include BUT are not exhausted to Ledisi’s ‘Lost & Found’, Little Brother’s ‘The Listening’, Common’s ‘Like Water for Chocolate’, The Clipse’s ‘Hell Hath No Fury’, Amel Larriex’s ‘Brave Bird’, Scarface’s ‘The Fix’, El-P’s ‘Fantastic Damage’, Blu & Exile’s ‘Below the Heavens’, Outkast’s ‘Stankonia’, Queens of the Stone Age’s ‘Songs for the Deaf’, Ryan Adam’s ‘Heartbreaker’, Johnny Cash’s ‘American IV: The Man Comes Around’, Portishead’s ‘Third’… OK! I should stop! We will have another conversation about these albums on a later date!!!

OK NOW to the Nitty Gritty…

25. Femi Kuti – Fight to Win (2001)

It took me a long minute to decide which Femi Kuti LP to include in this list… ‘Shoki Shoki’ or Fight to Win because let’s face it, the man made two CLASSIC albums this century (He seats comfortably in the same box as Radiohead? Jay-Z? M.I.A? Kanye West? in that respect)… Some will argue that without a ‘Shoki Shoki’, there would never have been a ‘Fight to Win’ so ‘Shoki Shoki’ should make the list BUT ‘Fight to Win’ is a near-perfect record! John Armstrong (BBC) calls it an excellent showcase of 21st Century Afrobeat & we cannot argue with that.

24. The White Stripes – White Blood Cells (2001)

I will come out and say it NOW! I’ve cheated by putting this album so far down this list… It’s Rock & Roll music at its very purest form & at its best! Even if you’re NOT into that kinda garage rock music, this album gets you. its 40 odd minutes and I dare you to want to skip any of the 16 songs on this… I just DARE you!

23. Jamie Lidell – Multiply (2005)

And now for some controversy…

Otis Redding? Stevie Wonder? Sam Cooke? Al Green? Willie Mitchell? Prince? You hear them ALL on this album & you have to ask, how does an Electronica producer all of a sudden turn into this rarity of a Soul Singer creating these amazing soul records. Never mind that he’s White, that just makes it more unreal… This album is Amazing & that is putting it very lightly.

22. Dizzee Rascal – Boy in Da Corner (2003)

GRIME never & possibly will never sound this GOOD & you can quote me on that one! Dizzee’s 2003 debut is still the only grime LP that I can play from start to finish without wanting to skip a track… Say what you will about the Londoner BUT at 18, he made one of the best records to come out of the UK period! It Certainly isn’t NO ‘Sgt. Pepper’ but it is Iconic in its own right! & for the last time, it’s NOT hip-hop, its GRIME & its GRIME at its very BEST, heights of which the genre will not reach again.

21. Flying Lotus – Los Angeles (2008)

Experimental Hip-Hop? Electronica? Indie Hip-Hop? Psychedelic? Whatever you wanna call it, FlyLo has got it mastered to a tee on ‘Los Angeles’! Now many people will question this inclusion to the list BUT if you’ve heard this LP, if you’ve actually listened to it, you’d understand that the (somewhat premature) comparisons to such greats as Cannibal Ox & El-P stem from this one album & you’d understand why… Just listen to ‘Golden Diva’ & come back to talk to me!!!

20. Erykah Badu – Mama’s Gun (2000)

On this one, I really couldn’t decide between this album & last year’s ‘New Amerykah Part One: 4th World War’, I’m sorry! I’m more leaning towards Mama’s Gun to be honest, it’s been with me for longer & it hasn’t LOST it’s GOODNESS… Who know what ‘New Amerykah’ will sound like in 2017 so based off of that longevity and impact continuously over 9 years, ‘Mama’s Gun’ takes the cake. Its beautiful music that’s effortless & what else would you expect from Ms. Badu working with such minds as Questlove, D’Angelo, Jay Dilla & Common… certainly nothing less!

19. Eminem – The Marshall Mathers LP (2000)

One of the all-time BEST Emcees at his all-time BEST is what ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ is. It’s nothing short of an epic work of art. Mr. Mather’s lyrical genuis & explicit narratives on this album match up with the best that Hip-Hop has ever had to offer & Dr. Dre is on hand to offer the musical back-drop for the lyrical onslaught… It’s a match made in heaven and the ‘Marshall Mathers LP’ is the miracle baby! SNM!!!

18. The Avalanches – Since I left You (2000)

I kinda have a feeling… let’s call it a theory… that any conversation about the best albums of this decade will be grossly incomplete without mentioning this Album & please quote me on that! It is what DJ Shadow’s ‘Endtroducing’ was to the 90’s and a STRAIGHT MASTERCLASS in the art of sampling. If you’re a producer & you sample (which is everybody lol) & you don’t own this record (actually if you don’t own this record & DJ Shadow’s ‘ENDtroducing’)… & you haven’t studied this record THEN you’re for all intents & purposes, well & truly LOST! It’s a travesty in itself that I’ve placed it so low as Number 18!!!

17. The Streets – A Grand Don’t Come for Free (2004)

Would it be so BOLD for me to say that this album is the best urban UK album… YES it’s NOT technically Hip-Hop or Grime & it’s NOT Garage-infused like Mike Skinner’s debut LP ‘Original Pirate Material’, it’s JUST an amazingly put-together body of work… Where ‘O.P.M’ was daring & groundbreaking & revolutionary (dare I say), ‘A Grand Don’t Come for Free’ is just simply better… It was a concept album before concept albums became ‘cool’ again in Hip-Hop & it’s 11 tracks of pure genius, witty vivid lyrics, near perfect narratives & an amazing musical backdrop that takes you right into the scene of this ‘movie’… #NuffSaid

16. The Roots – Game Theory (2006)

We always knew that The Roots were somewhat of a phenomena (well to the back-packers they are near enough gods!)… I mean, what else would you get by mixing Questlove, who in my opinion, is one of the greatest musical minds there are & Black Thought, the most slept-on & underrated emcee in the game & arguably one of the greatest all-time emcees… But The Roots had never quite delivered on any of their previous LPs (except for ‘Illadelph Halflife’ & marginally on 1999’s ‘Things Fall Apart’) in my humble opinion… ‘Game Theory’ was the album for me when The Roots became all they could be… It was dark, it was gritty, but it oozed life… it swayed from angry to depressing quite effortlessly & it was The Roots at their most cohesive. Simply put… Amazing music.

Anche voi avrete forse decretato il successo di Humanoid dei Tokio Hotel ed amate la loro «Automatic». Questa canzone potrebbe essere una delle protagoniste del meglio di 50 Songs su una tv musicale. Idag har jag lyssnat på musik nästan hela dagen och verkligen lyssnat och tänkt på texterna. Några fick mig att rysa och några gjorde mig mållös. Jag tycker det är fascinerande att någon kan åstadkomma det. Ibland flera år senare ibland på andra sidan jorden, att få någon att känna känslan av att bli knuffad baklänges av några ord. Min kung för idag, satt på pedestal är Bob Dylan. vilka texter. hans texter gör det hela vägen. svårt att sätta fingret på en mening utan de är bara genialiska. de flesta av hans texter innehåller mer, ni vet meningar och infall med det där än vad de flesta brukar lyckas med under deras hela karriär. Så jag ska dela med mig av texter jag mer kan sätta fingret på en minnesvärd och andetagstagande mening.

The streets -on the edge on a cliff den fick mig att le sådär litet men härligt när jag förstod den, som när man är lycklig. jag ler på samma sätt när jag ser han med stort h framför mig. det är inte samma känsla men samma leende, sådär äkta. vilken härlig tanke! vad lycklig jag blir

But it hurt me, to see what true love really does jag tror jag blev ledsen och rädd att jag inte kommer träffa någon annan som får mig att känna på riktigt. jag har träffat en kille som fick mig att uppleva en annan dimension om hur man kan tycka om någon. Och den killen verkar inte vilja veta av mig mer. Jag skulle vilja träffa honom igen. känna han nära och att få lägga min hand runt hans nacke och kyssa honom. i alla fall tror jag att anledningen till att denna raden liksom knuffade mig baklänges är att jag insåg att jag kanske aldrig mer får träffa honom. Jag hoppas jag kan säga you never know.

Packed (but not uncomfortably) with The Streets blasting through the speakers, it seemed there were good signs the gig was going to be interesting. I Heart Sharks then stepped through the crowd and got their instruments ready, while the singer nervously slipped in and out of German and English. Since they were previously unknown to me, I’ll just throw some random observations out there.

1. The drummer was the most enthusiastic percussionist I’ve had witness to see. He seemed to be having more fun than the entire crowd combined, he was constantly getting up and his face was always changing from one expression to the next.
2. The sound in this venue seemed perfect (so I guess props to the sound technicians), not too loud, not too quiet, with everything the band playing easily slipping into the ear, quite hard for a band with a harsh electronic sound (think Does it Offend You, Yeah? or Friendly Fires).
3. My statement of hipsters not dancing, was once again proved, but fortunately this time it did not make the gig any less fun.

I can’t say their studio sound, which was given to me fresh ripped the night of the gig, is too special, but if you get the chance, catch them live, because they have enough songs to really get a party started. Here are my favourites from the evening; Dots Dots Dots and The World is Yours.

Folgendes wird passieren, sollte das H1N1-Virus mutieren:

Eigentlich wollte ich ja zur Abwechslung mal wieder einen Beitrag frei von Filmen und Musik halten; das stellt sich allerdings offenbar als unmöglich heraus. Denn Mike Skinner führt hier im Stile eines George A. Romero sehr deutlich vor Augen, was die Schweinegrippe aus uns allen macht, hirnlose Zombies nämlich. Also, nicht das Virus selbst. Die Erkrankung verläuft nämlich weiterhin weitgehend harmlos, auch wenn einschlägige Medien sich gerne auf Todesnachrichten infizierter Patienten stürzen, selbst wenn diese bereits an anderen schweren Krankheiten litten und der Tod nicht zwingend mit dem H1N1-Virus in Verbindung steht. Zum Mitschreiben: Einen nachweislich nur durch die Schweinegrippe verursachten Todesfall hat es in Deutschland noch nicht gegeben.

Nein, den Zombie-Status erlangen wir eher durch die Gutgläubigkeit, die wir an den Tag legen, wenn es um den seit kurzem erhältlichen Impfstoff geht. 25 Millionen Deutsche sollen sich insgesamt impfen lassen – wie genau diese Zahl zustande kommt und welche 25 Millionen das sein sollen, das kann mir leider niemand erklären. Der wichtigste Streitpunkt ist nach wie vor der Wirkungsverstärker (so genannte Adjuvanzien), der im der Öffentlichkeit zugänglichen Impfstoff enthalten ist und der eine stärkere Immunreaktion auslösen soll, in erster Linie aber die Häufigkeit von Nebenwirkungen erhöht. Bekanntlich erhält die Bundesregierung Impfungen ohne diesen Wirkungsverstärker, was die Frage aufwirft: Wieso? Klar, die Regierung traut dem allgemeinen Impfstoff ebenso wenig wie die Bundeswehr; für uns Normalsterbliche ist der allerdings gut genug. En Zweiklassendenken, das in meinen Augen um einiges gefährlicher ist als die Grippe selbst.

Die nämlich ist bislang um einiges glimpflicher verlaufen als eine ganz gewöhnliche saisonale Grippe. Zwar liegt die Todesrate höher, die Zahl der Ansteckungen ist allerdings bei weitem geringer: An der normalen Grippe sterben jedes Jahr 20.000 Menschen allein in Deutschland. Zu glauben, dass die Schweinegrippe solche Zahlen auch nur annähernd erreichen wird, dafür besteht bisher kein Anlass. Sollte das Virus in der Tat mutieren, wie viele befürchten, könnte sich das ändern. Könnte. Der Konjunktiv deutet an: Ein Grund, jetzt panisch zum Arzt zu rennen, besteht beim besten Willen nicht.

Kommen wir auf den Impfstoff zurück. In den USA, neben Mexiko am stärksten von der Neuen Grippe betroffen, erhalten die Menschen eine Impfung ohne Wirkungsverstärker, der nachweislich um einiges verträglicher ist – den erhalten übrigens auch Bundeswehr-Soldaten. In Schweden liefen die Impfungen bereits am 12. Oktober an; viele Geimpfte litten anschließend unter Nebenwirkungen, fünf chronisch kranke Patienten starben anschließend. Ein Zusammenhang der Todesfälle mit dem Impfstoff ist nicht bewiesen. Woran erinnert das? Ach ja, neun Schweinegrippe-Todesfälle in Deutschland, allesamt chronisch krank, kein Zusammenhang des Todes mit H1N1 bewiesen. Der Erreger und sein Impfstoff scheinen also auf dasselbe hinauszulaufen – wählen zwischen Pest und Cholera, wunderbar. Dann spare ich mir doch lieber die Impfung und hoffe, dass die Grippe an mir vorübergeht; so schlecht stehen die Chancen nicht, auch wenn ich mit meiner eher maroden Gesundheit durchaus zur Risikogruppe gehöre.

A propos Risikogruppen: Zu denen gehören zum Beispiel auch Schwangere. Es existieren allerdings keine verlässlichen Studien darüber, wie diese auf die Impfung reagieren. Soll heißen, ob der Wirkstoff dem Kind überhaupt nutzt oder ihm vielleicht sogar schadet. Eben das gilt auch für Kleinkinder, weshalb vor Beginn der Impfungen gesagt wurde, Kinder sollten frühestens ab dem dritten Lebensjahr geimpft werden. Jetzt heißt es allerdings auf einmal, man könne schon mit sechs Monaten beginnen. Ungetestet, wie gesagt. Ich nenne das verantwortungslos, aber das ist ja nur meine Meinung. Letztendlich bleibt es jedem selbst überlassen, ob er Thommy Haas und der BILD-Zeitung glaubt und blind darauf vertraut, dass die Pharma-Unternehmen schon wissen, was sie tun. Allerdings: Die Pharma-Industrie wird bei einem breiten Anklang des Impfstoffes in der Bevölkerung Milliarden verdienen. Bei einem solchen Gewinn fallen ein paar Opfer dann ja wohl weniger ins Gewicht.

We’re back, thanks to the complete lack of public acclaim, with the much derided Best Of British Part 2. Mebbe this isn’t the best time to be plugging something with that title, but if it makes Nick Griffin a better man, then it’s time well spent.

With that in mind I’m already regretting the first track from Warfare – “Burn The King’s Road”. Now I’ve been down the king’s Road, and it seemed comparatively pleasant compared to other streets in London. Me, I’d be burning Streatham, but perhaps Warfare knew something I don’t.

Originally the B-side to their Neat Records debut 7″ “This Machine Kills”, Warfare plugged away gamely for most of the eighties, sticking with Neat, long after Neat meant anything to anyone. Naturally, the hailed from Newcastle, and if I tell you that they were formed by Evo, ex drummer with the Angelic Upstarts, then I think you will know exactly how good they were. They also featured the legend that is Wurzel, in his pre-Motorhead days as well as Mantas (the Venom fella). At different times obviously.

MP3 one – Warfare – Burn The Kings Road

Next up is Jaguar. Now I liked Jaguar, especially their “Axe Crazy” single, which came out on Neat in 1982.

Sadly by the time their “Power Games” LP came out, it was 1983 and the horse had long since bolted. I remember seeing them opening the show for Girlschool in 1984(?), and they were still pretty impressive. They packed it in a year or so later, but got back together about ten years ago, continuing in one for or another right up till today. This track doesn’t seem to appear on any other release.

MP3 two – Jaguar – (Nights Of) Long Shadow

This installment comes to an end with Emerson. One of the single worst bands I ever saw play live. It was at the Hard Rock Cafe (pre franchise), which used to be upstairs in the Edinburgh Playhouse, and is now a swanky restaurant. I saw some great gigs there – Twisted Sister and Raven spring to mind, as well as the legendary Spider. But, oh dear. Emerson were absolutely awful. I suppose their brand of wannabee US AOR was not what beered up Scotch teenage metal fans wanted to hear, but even now, this is pretty dire.

I seem to recall the band was led by the Emerson brothers, and that they released on solitary 7″. This track wasn’t good enough to get on the B-side.

Fact fiends may be interested to know that Stu (the guitarist) ended up performing on albums by Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler! And by glancing over my right shoulder, I can see a poster for a Tyketto gig at the Newcastle Mayfair in 1994, when they were supported by Mrs Loud aka Lorraine Crosby, the partner of Stu who sang lead on “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)”. You never thought I was going there, did you.

Now, I know you’re pretty blown away right now. But wait, there’s more. The singer in Emerson was a guy called Sam Blewitt. Not a great name. So he changed it to Sam Blue. He went on to sing with (deep breath) Axis, L. A. Secrets, Paul Samson’s Empire, Ya Ya, Ultravox, GTS, and Burns Blue. But, and prepare to gasp, he is most famous for being the vocalist on The Streets’ chart-topping single “Dry Your Eyes”! It’s true! Although for me, his two Song For Europe entries are what mark him out (in 1996 as part of the duo Esseness with the song “I Never Knew” and 1997 as a solo artist with the song “For The Life You Don’t Yet Know”). He didn’t win.

Essentially, this is an album about chaos.  Lyrically, the album speaks on behalf of a generation in anguish. One that never had a heroic war to fight, or any particular reason to rebel. Musically, it is a clash of trumpets, synths, and most apparent, drum samples, that has no reason to work together. But it does, brilliantly.

Mike Skinner, born in Birmingham, England (but uses a peculiar cockney accent) is a sensationally shameless self-promoter, spitting lines like “Original Pirate Material/Your listening to The Streets/Lock down your aerial” regularly. But at his best he is an accurate depicter of the average 20 something English lifestyle, dealing with issues as various as “birds” (girls) and the ecstasy-fueled club scene, which he beautifully illustrates in the track “Weak Become Heroes.” All in all, this is a great garage album, full of corny British one-liners, but also full of philosophical like critiques of life, which will want you craving for more.

I thought I use today’s post to discuss one of my biggest sources of irritation. I’m sure if you live in a rural area anywhere in the United Kingdom, or the world for that matter, you will have at some point come across the phenomenon of 15-17 year old white kids from comfortable village homes who are utterly convinced that they are ‘hardcore street soldierz’.  You know the type, don’t you? I’ll bet pounds against pilchards you know at least one person who fits the bill.

They bug the fuck out of me. Yesterday I was talking to one of the guys at work about something I witnessed a while ago whilst on a night out in Thornbury (It’s a small town near Bristol). There was 2 opposing gangs (Twats hanging around in groups of over 5 people is a better way to describe them than ‘gangs’) arguing about who looked at someone elses girlfriend – who incidentally you wouldn’t of wanted to cast your eyes upon through choice - and the discussion began getting heated when one of the protagonists blurted out the excruciating, awful line “Don’t cross me Bruv. I’m from the Streets”. I was about 10 yards away getting myself a burger and I just laughed out load. If the offending kid had ever seen anything remotely resembling ‘The Streets’ I imagine he would of most probably pissed his pants on the spot and rang his mum and cried down the phone until he got picked up. To me the whole concept just beggars belief. I can only assume that listening to Hip-Hop music has an adverse affect on teenage white guys – and girls for that matter, some can be equally as bad.

So for those people, here’s a little list of things that should set the record straight and show why you’re not from “The Streets” (It makes me cringe even writing that)

1. You are not from ‘The Streets’ if your only means of transportation, should you wish to commit a drive-by shooting, is the bicycle you use to do your paper round.

2. You are not from ‘The Streets’ because you have the ability to lip-sync to Flo-Rida in your bedroom.

3. You are not from ‘The Streets’ if your Mum drops you to school in the morning.

4. You are not from ‘The Streets’ if the only ‘Crack-Ho’ you’ve seen is your Dad’s broken gardening tool.

5. You are not from ‘The Streets’  just because you watched “Step Up 2 – The Streets” and can do a few of the dance moves.

6. You are not from ‘The Streets’ just down to wearing a Hoodie

7. You are not from ‘The Streets’ if you and your friends have formed a gang that has to be in bed for school by 10pm.

8. You are not from ‘The Streets’ if the only rival gang in you area is a Pensioner’s bridge club.

9. You are not from ‘The Streets’ if you can leave your possessions on your front lawn all night and still find them there in the morning.

10. You are not from ‘The Streets’ because you older brother tries his hand at Drum ‘n’ Bass MC-ing, at the local karaoke night on a Tuesday.

In short, you little shits are about as ‘Street’ as Elmo. Please stop making yourselves look such arses now because in a few years you’ll look back and be disgusted with yourselves, or in a worse case, you’ll actually start with someone who is from ‘The Streets’ and they’ll pummel this living snot out of you, steal your clothes and most likely your ‘Bitch’ also. I’d like to state that this post isn’t meant to be inflammatory to anyone who is from ‘The Streets’ so I would appreciate it if no one busts a 187 on my ass.

Awesome video… But it makes you wonder, who the hell has that much time on their hands hey? Kudos to them all the same

So, last week, my friend The Clappnasty got tickets for us to see one of out favorite acts, The Streets. Since Mike Skinner and crew are from across the pond, getting to see them on the west coast was awesome, and I for one, wasn’t going to miss out on this. When we arrived, not much of a crowd for the opening band, which I can’t remember their name off hand. Basically they sounded like Phoenix and a hundred other indie bands with octave chords and a synth.

Next up was Nosaj Thing. Well, it’s basically this skinny dude with a Mac and a mixing board making ambient dance rhythms for half an hour. If the show was actually a party and not a concert, I would hire this guy. But, it’s not a party and after about 10 minutes, the music ran it’s course. Cool idea, just bored the shit out of me.

Next up, was The streets. With a full band in tow, Mike and the gang ripped through some old classics (let’s push things forward and could’ve well been in ) and some new jams like The Escapist ( which has an awesome video I recommend checking out ). They swagged and jammed their way throughout an hour or so set, never stopping the jams or jokes. At one point in the show, Mike had the whole crowd sit down at one time, which was quite the site. He kept mentioning the time change ( ” it is a tuuesssday! ” ) but he rose to the occasion. It was a really special thing for me to see him play live and I am glad I had the chance to do that, especially in such a small, intimate setting like the Belly Up Tavern.

So, all in all, it was a great show, and it was only like a 35 minute drive from South County, which is always a sweet deal.

I love the accent! When I had this web project in Ortigas, I sneaked out in one of the drives and saw this mp3 folder named Euro Rock.. I’m a thief! I copied those files to my iPod =) cool finds..
