Hello everyone! How’s it going? It’s been awhile since I’ve last written a post, so I thought I better get it done now, before it’s too late. Sadly, I’m leaving Thailand in less than a month, so I should ought to keep everyone up to date on what we’ve been up to! :)

Today’s post is on The Tiger Kingdom which is situated in Mae Rim, about 15 minutes outside of Chiang Mai City. This was such an amazing experience though, and it was surprisingly cheaper than I thought it’d be seeing as it’s touristy.

620 Baht for 10 minutes with the new born cats ($20 USD)

620 Baht for 10 minutes with the small cats ($20 USD)

420 Baht for 15 minutes with the medium cats ($13.50 USD)

420 Baht for 15 minutes with the large cats ($13.50 USD)

Included in the price is insurance, should you ever need it.

We decided to go for the small cats because SOMEONE – not naming names, didn’t want to see the baby ones. It didn’t look like you could get in and really touch the big tigers either, but even if you could, they looked so gigantic and huge that I would be too scared to.

As you walked in to the grounds the cages with all the different sized cats surround you, and they had pretty blue and gold macaws that you could feed sun flower seeds to, too. This tiger kingdom is very big on not using drugs or chains etc.

The cats were so pretty, and the tigers that we touched were so soft, I liked the staff that were there in the cages with us too, they were very friendly. As we walked into the enclosure where the small cats were, there was this sound of some animal almost crying… Then I saw it, this more little frog looking up at me as almost like it was saying ‘help me’ and then bam… A snake pulled it in and yeah, that didn’t very excite me very well. The staff member that was with us loved to joke about how there was a snake here, and there, and over here too. I hate snakes.

That’s all for today, I’ll hopefully have another post up later this week! Thanks for reading, stay tuned! :D

I wish that we had more time to spend here! This city is shockingly huge, with so much to do and so

I wish that we had more time to spend here! This city is shockingly huge, with so much to do and so little time!

Our only real reason for coming up to Chiang Mai was for the trekking and the elephant riding. We were going to fly north for this reason, then head straight south to the beaches in Thailand. This sounded like a good plan until we realized just how much there is to do in this city. Tomorrow morning we fly out and we still haven’t been able to see all of the things we wanted to see.

After trekking we had planned to go to see the zoo, which is apparently beautiful. Instead of being in cages, the animals are in sanctuaries with raised walkways, so visitors can safely see the animals without standing outside of a cage. Unfortunately we got back too late and had to miss this. Next time we’re here…

Today we went to Jungle Flight, a canopy and zipline tour of the jungle. It was a 9 hour daytrip (including travel time to and from) with lunch included. We went from zipline to zipline through 34 platforms. It was so much fun! There were also some great views as we soared over the jungle.

While at Jungle Flight, we talked to other people who had been visiting Chiang Mai. One pair suggested that people go see Tiger Kingdom, a place where you can go in the cages with tigers. We didn’t expect to have time to do this, but we did manage to make it there fifteen minutes before closing. Just enough time to go in the cage with one set of tigers. You get to choose between newborn (2 months), small (5-7 months), medium (1 year), or large (full grown). Then you go in the cage, pet the tigers, and a photographer takes photos. Very touristy, but interesting nevertheless. We chose to play with the baby tigers so that we wouldn’t get eaten. They were adorable. After our fifteen minutes were up, we were no longer able to go into the tiger cages, but visiters were still allowed to walk around the park and take pictures of the tigers.

It would be so easy to spend another couple of weeks in Chiang Mai. There are so many day trips to do here! For people who like animals, this is the place to be, as most of those day trips involve jungle animals (Tiger Kingdom, some monkey place that we didn’t see, etc). For those who want to see elephants, there is a three day elephant camp where you can go ride elephants, and learn how to look after elephants. It sounded like too much work for my liking, as we were told that you have to shovel elephant poop before you can ride the elephants, but we did hear that it was fantastic and very educational.

Tomorrow we head south to Krabi, where we can relax on the beach for a couple of days, so long as we don’t get ourselves caught up in too many more day trips. As I’ve said, so much to do and so little time… under two weeks left now!
