Vorweihnachtszeit – wie immer die nervigste Zeit des Jahres. Fürs Internet fehlt mir momentan jede Minute, daher verkümmert mein Blog traurigerweise momentan ein wenig. Die news sind daher keine news mehr, aber der Vollständigkeit halber muss es natürlich erwähnt werden: Nach den Weihnachtsfeiertagen wird die 3. Staffel der TUDORS am späten Abend nach 22 Uhr auf Pro Sieben unter dem Titel  Ein Sohn für den König ausgestrahlt. Die Termine hierfür sind der 28. und 30. Dezember, sowie der 1. und der 4. Januar. Aufgrund der mittelmäßigen Quoten ist der Primetime Platz also verlustig gegangen, aber hartgesottene Fans wird das nicht weiter stören. Mir hat die dritte Staffel sehr gut gefallen, ich bin gespannt, wie sie hierzulande ankommt.

Außerdem kündigte auch Arte eine Fortsetzung der Ausstrahlung im nächsten Jahr an!

Mucho hemos estado esperando en España para tener una reunión de estas características, y por fin parece que nuestras suplicas se han cumplido. Entre los días 19 y 22 de noviembre arranca en Madrid lo que se ha llamado el “I Festival de Series Madrid 09”.

Digital + junto a Canal + y mucho de los canales de pago (AXN, Calle 13, FOX, Paramount Comedy, Sci fi y TNT) son los encargados de poner en marcha este festival que tendrá lugar en el Circulo de Bellas Artes de Madrid (calle Alcalá 42).

Con el lema “loco por las series” nace este festival, cuyo fin es crear un espacio de encuentro con lo mejor de la pequeña pantalla. Nace como referente para futuros certámenes de público general y más profesional en este sector concreto. Entre las actividades que se llevaran a cabo destacan el visionado de series internacional, talleres, debates, mesas redondas, invitados nacionales e internacionales de series televisivas. Todo ello amenizado con espacios dedicados y decorados de series, así como concursos y premios, y una tienda especializada donde adquirir objetos de tus series favoritas.

Entre las series de estreno que podremos ver estos cuatro días destacan “V”, “Trauma”, “Warehouse 13” o la nueva serie de Courteney Cox (Mónica en “Friends”) “Courgan Town”. Pero también contaremos con las nuevas temporadas de “Mad Men” (3º), “True Blood” o en español Sangre Fresca (2º), “Breaking Bad” (2º), “The Closer” (5º), “Heroes” (4º), “Being Erica” (2º) o “Los Tudor” (3º). Completaran el espectáculo de producciones, o maratones de series como “The Beast” (La bestia) o la nueva serie estrella “Flash Forward”.

No sé cómo les saldrá este primer festival dedicado al mundo de las series, pero siendo como soy un gran aficionado a ello, al menos me dejare caer por este emblemático lugar que seguro que tiene mucho que percibir. ¿Alguien más se anima?

“THE TUDORS” conta a incrível história do jovem, poderoso e sedutor Rei Henrique VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers, “Missão: Impossível III”, “Elvis”), focando os anos iniciais do tumultuado reinado de quase quarenta anos (1509-1547) do ambicioso rei da Inglaterra.

A Showtime, emissora por cabo responsável por série de sucesso como Dexter e Weeds, revelou a sua programação para a Primavera de 2010, incluindo o regresso de The Tudors e a estreia de La La Land.

A temporada da Showtime começa segunda-feira, 25 de Janeiro, com a estreia da terceira temporada de Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, no horário das dez da noite. Nessa mesma noite, Tracey Ullman’s State Of The Union regressa às dez e meia e por fim, às onze da noite, estreia La La Land.

Nurse Jackie e United States of Tara regressam para as suas segundas temporadas na segunda-feira, 22 de Março, no horário da dez e dez e meia respectivamente. Já a série protagonizada por Jonathan Rhys Meyers – The Tudors -, volta no próximo mês, dia 11 de Ab ril, para a quarta e última temporada (no horário da nove da noite).

Por fim, também foi dito que o primeiro filme da saga Twilight (Crepúsculo) vai ser exibido no sábado, 23 de Janeiro.

We have our next few months booked solid, nerdy style. Here’s what is on the docket for Jess and Julie.

1. Jess is teaching Julie how to play D&D. We shall see what hijinks ensue when she debuts her cleric that heals via an oozing flesh wound.
2. Julie and the Internet are teaching Jess how to play Magic: the Gathering. She already plays one table top RPG made by Wizards of the Coast, how can she say “no” to another table top RPG made by Wizards of the Coast?
3. We will finish watching the first three seasons of The Tudors before the fourth season starts. It’s not a matter of catching up, we’ve read books, it’s a matter of watching one of our favorite historical periods acted out by super sexy people. We can’t wait for Caty Howard to die.
4. We are preparing for our Firefly weekend. Julie watched it when it was on tv, but doesn’t remember it well. Jess was late to Sludgeblood’s shower yesterday because she was watching the movie. We need this to happen soon.
5. Jess is going to co-teach Julie how to play video games. We are expecting an increase in our already high amount of panic attacks.
6. We are going to spend the spring watching X-Files. We’re out once Mulder is out.
7. Julie has agreed to help Jess with her case mod. We will probably be covered with more paint than the case, but it will be so worth it.
8. We are going to make Full Metal Alchemist aprons and oven mitts. Julie doesn’t watch the show (except one time because there was a mini panda), but she loves craft night. There will be cookies to celebrate.
9. We are going to paint a picture together for Jess’s room. It’s going to feature Tesla using Sith lightning to attack Edison.
10. We will get our nerd tattoos.

So there you have it, our agenda for the next few months. That and Julie’s Gold Party will keep us entertained for the next few months. We will post the results of this list as we complete them.

Recently I have found myself watching more and more television. Some of them are great shows and some are just guilty pleasures. I’m sharing them here in the hopes that I’m not alone and to see who else likes the same…and what I am missing out on

The Apprentice – a Monday evening must especially with the Live Blog on Culch.ie when possible, I love this show. Breff-ny, Breff-ny, Breff-ny. He started out as a gombeen but seems to have won some people over this week, myself included…:D

Location, Location, Location – I don’t know why I love this programme so much, it is probably an inherent nosiness of getting to see into so many lovely different houses, apartments, flats, conversions, cottages. Kirsty and Phil are both lovely of course too but I think it really is the amount of potential and inspiration for when I have the financial capability to move myself. Til then I can do it vicariously through the buyers on LLL.

Four Weddings – definitely in the ‘guilty pleasures’ box! In case you haven’t seen it, Four Weddings follows the same format as Come Dine With Me and is made by the same people. Four brides come together and attend each others weddings, scoring the food, venue, overall presentation, dress, etc. The winner and new husband receive a honeymoon of a lifetime, usually to somewhere in the Caribbean. As the viewer you get to look in on four different weddings, listen to what they all have to say about each other (yes, there can be a lot of bitching!) and just to marvel at the different things people think are ‘inspired’ for their wedding. Like the couple who took off from their reception in a sports car. To the local nightclub for more dancing!

House – well, I’m still ploughing my way through season five, I had given up on House a bit. But I have a new found love for him. Having seen the ads on tv for season six, I can’t wait to get through them all. His caustic, intelligent wit never cease to amaze and delight.

The Tudors – well ok, I only started to watch it after I was an extra on the show earlier in the summer so I am still firmly in Series One. It is looking very promising though and absolutely something I can see myself settling down to on a long winter evening for some candlelight, feasts, dances and lots of naked flesh-mostly Jonathan Rhys Meyers if we’re honest

Grey’s Anatomy – one of my absolute favourites at the moment is Grey’s Anatomy. I didn’t watched it from the very beginning but it was part way through series one. I love this programme. I went off it a bit when Izzy ‘killed’ her husband trying to get him a new heart and all that but got back into it in a big way afterwards and I have been a firm fan since. Season Six has been great so far and I tentatively wait to see every new episode with bated breath and tissues at the ready!

Anything I have missed? Anything there you think is absolute tripe?

The Wicked Scholars thought the first two seasons of The Tudors were pretty entertaining. Lots of nudity, violence, and people being burned alive. For those who aren’t into historical drama, or who weren’t paying attention in History class, King Henry VIII was born into the House of Tudor and become King of England in 1509 at the age of 17. Henry is one of the most famous of the English monarchs, and he was also a real asshole, who got obesely fat and hideous as he got older. The Tudors is the dramatized account of his life, loves, and reign. Henry is perhaps best known for his six wives, two of whom had their heads chopped off.

Season Two saw Henry destroying the Catholic Church in England, having lots of sex with Anne Boleyn, played scrumptuously by Natalie Dormer, and finally, tiring of Anne Boleyn and having her beheaded.

It was with great anticipation that the Scholars awaited the start of Season Three. Unfortunately, three or four episodes in, we all think the series has gone to shite. What’s most annoying is the introduction of new characters, most notably Sir Francis Bryan, a eye patch wearing dufus who reminds us of the cat in Shrek. The character, played annoyingly by Allan Van Sprang, is completely out of place, as are several of the female characters. The series is starting to look like Melrose place meets Medieval Town.

Not that we are overly bothered by it, but we are inclined to think that most of the female leads in the series are too hot, and too skanky to be realistic. In an era when syphlilis and other sexually transmitted diseases were widespread, and there was virtually no birth control, it seems highly unlikely that upper class maidens would be banging casual acquaintances behind curtains in a ballroom, mere steps away from their husband, who is likely wearing a sword.

It also seems as though the production budget has been slashed drastically. For example, Charles Brandon, the Duke of Suffolk, is shown suppressing the revolt in the north with about 20 men, and executing hundreds of people. In reality, at the end of Pilgrimage of Grace, which saw thousands of northerners rebel against the destruction of the monasteries and churches in the north of England in 1536, only 270 of the leaders were executed.

It seems like historical accuracy is being replaced with Desperate Housewives style drama, intrigue, and bad writing. We couldn’t even bear to watch this week’s episode, in which Henry, distraught over the death of his one true love, Jane Seymore, waxes philosophical with an imaginary, overacting old guy.

So, if you want to save the series, get rid of the guy with the eye patch, show us way more nudity and people being burned alive, and try to bring back a modicum of historical accuracy.

De siste dagene har bare vært stress. Skjønner ingenting av hva som skjer for tiden, og vil egentlig ikke skjønne så mye av det heller! Eneste jeg vil si er: Fuck off haters! Også at jeg er sliten, lei og vanvittig skuffet! Der var jeg ferdig med klaginga, og kan begynne på det morsomme.

Begge lillebrødrene mine har hatt bursdag, og jeg har spist altfor mye mat.  Ikke at det gjør noe, kunne godt trengt noen ekstra kilo, men følelsen av at magesekken er på vei til å sprekke er ikke behagelig. Taco, kake og middag på Amigos er fortært i løpet av helgen og jeg er mett helt til fredag. Eller noe sånt.

Fikk forresten en veldig kul, fargerik og romslig veske av mammaen min, fra Puma med bilder av masse sko på (me like). Også har jeg i tillegg kjøpt meg en grå strikkebolero og store, svarte, barokkinspirerte øredobber, og hvis du trodde du skulle få se bilde av de, trodde du feil. Ingenting imot alle antrekksbloggere, men det er ikke min stil å legge ut bilde av hver eneste lille, jævla ting jeg får eller kjøper.  Så dere kan heller bruke fantasien til å forestille dere de. Hvis det derimot skulle være noe spesielt jeg kjøper en gang, kan det være det popper opp et bilde.

Ellers har jeg tilbragt forrige uke med å se The Tudors som handler om det engelske monarkiet og kong Henry den åttende. I den serien viser de den best bevarte hemmligheten over kjekke, mannlige skuespiller, og jeg har ingen planer om å fortelle deg hva han heter, i og med at det ville være å røpe hemmeligheten. Jeg er derimot tilbøyelig til å vise dere et bilde, så hold dere fast og nyt synet av en av de mest perfekte menn som er født.

Hvis han ikke er kjekk synes jeg dere alle sammen har dårlig smak i mannfolk. Og ja, jeg sier mannfolk, fordi det er det han er. Barsk, mandig, kjekk og uimotståelig. Forskjell på  menn og gutter vettu

Og helt til slutt vil jeg bare si “Hei Mamma og Pappa”. vet dere leser bloggen innimellom, så tenkte dere kunne få en ordentlig hilsen. Kjempeglad i dere

Just putting it out there: Henry VIII is (or was) one scary man. Julie and I are watching The Tudors and are frightened. Episode after episode is full of whispered threats, angry apple biting, and crazy eyes. Yes, Anne of Cleaves, he would have killed you if you didn’t agree to the divorce and calling yourself his “sister”.

On the lighter side, give us more Eye Patch and Cardinal Pole. They are totally balancing out our fear of crazy, entitled white men.
