You’d be surprised at how much vampires like to talk about their tragic existence. They typically invite a reporter to a secluded apartment and impress him with their supernatural powers before recounting the first time they got bitten. This will involve a much more interesting vampire who kills without hesitation and has all sorts of exciting adventures, and you’ll wonder why the tale isn’t about him in the first place. Not to worry – once the interview gets “transcribed” and put into book form, any future works will likely focus on him.

The story should contain a great deal of information that you can use. The vampire will reveal the names of fellow bloodsuckers, the location of vampire hangouts, and precisely what happens when a two thousand-year-old vampire is exposed to the sun (hint – it’s not pretty). You may even be motivated to try and get an interview with a dead guy yourself to learn more. Simply keep an eye out for spooky classifieds ads, and who knows, you might get lucky, though there’s a much greater chance it will just be a lonely goth who needs help applying his face makeup.

Just what I wished for: Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat. I’ve read it already but my brother lost my copy so I needed another for my Rice collection. She even added chocolate bars in my gift bag. Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles has joined the reboot bandwagon.  According to Bloody Disgusting:

We have confirmed this afternoon that ROBERT DOWNEY JR. is in close talks to play the vampire Lestat in Universal Pictures’ The Vampire Chronicles, a newly rebooted franchise based on Anne Rice’s popular novels.

Lestat appears as a major character in both motion picture adaptations of The Vampire Chronicles novels. In Neil Jordan’s 1994 film adaptation of Interview with the Vampire, he is portrayed by Tom Cruise. In the 2002 film adaptation of Queen of the Damned, he is played by Stuart Townsend.

We have to say that this seems like one property deserving of a reboot.  The previous films were a disappointment and didn’t capture the power of the novels.

And what do we think of Downey as Lestat?  Think that would work nicely.

Universal Pictures plans to reboot Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles”, and is in talks with Robert Downey Jr. to play the vampire Lestat Du Lioncort, reports Bloody-Disgusting.
As most of you doubtless already know, the character of Lestat was played by Tom Cruise in the 1994 adaptation of Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire”, which co-starred Brad Pitt, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst.

Stuart Townsend later played Lestat in the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, which co-starred the late Aaliyah and took elements from the author’s “The Vampire Lestat” and “The Queen of the Damned”.

The series of novels also includes “The Tale of the Body Thief,” “Memnoch the Devil”, “The Vampire Armand”, “Merrick”, “Blood and Gold”, “Blackwood Farm” and “Blood Canticle.”

Bloody-Disgusting has confirmed that Robert Downey Jr is currently in close talks. However, no word on which book in the series the studio will tackle.

Downey Jr. recently wrapped Iron Man 2 and will next be seen in Sherlock Holmes, which opens Christmas Day.
