So, the impossible happened yesterday, Vicci and Beverly tied in the overnight voting leaving Carson

So, the impossible happened yesterday, Vicci and Beverly tied in the overnight voting leaving Carson Daly to issue a rap battle for the crown. Vicci kicks it off with “Ice, Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice but is quickly shown the door when Beverly goes old school on her ass with some Grandmaster Flash, “The Message.” By the end of the show, Vicci is made Beverly’s bitch and sulks away, tail between her legs, looking for somewhere to hide.

Yeah, ok, that did not happen.. We were treated to four more duets, the first of which teamed Vicci and Pat Monahan, from Train, and did an awkward version of “Drops of Jupiter.” Pat looks like he lost a rap battle to Father Time and the end can’t come fast enough for us, the viewer. Cee Lo lies to everyone and tells Vicci how great she is.. Meh..

Javier Colon is up next, paired with the legendary (Carson’s words,) Stevie Nicks for a little “Landslide” love. Stevie, sporting either weightlifter or driving gloves (yes, it looked as odd as it sounds,) feels she has to lead Javier through the harmonies as if he were in her 6th grade choir class… Javier, played nice, followed along, and yes, once again displayed his ability to sound amazing.

Beverly and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder are teamed together in an attempt at pulling off a comedy routine. Beverly played the crazy, drunk uncle who can’t sing (some of the notes she tried hitting in her non-existent upper register were downright painful) with Ryan chipping in as an alley cat trapped in a box.. Honestly, if we had heard this garbage on week one, there wouldn’t be any of these fools out there claiming how much better The Voice is than AI.

In the last (thank God) pairing of the night, Mrs. and Mrs. Blake Shelton (for those of you on the slow side, this would be Dia and Miranda Lambert, Blake’s wife) half-butchered “The House That Built Me,” Miranda Lambert’s hit single. The pairing of country twang and mysterious whisper voice is odd at best. They do get through it, but honestly, they are lucky the voting happened the day before, because this did not do Dia any favors.

Head drone, Carson Daly, tells Beverly and Vicci that their pipe dreams are done, leaving Dia and Javier to hang for a bit longer.. He goes on to say that they have the top two downloads on iTunes, a fact I told you yesterday (see, I’m good for something) and that the voting was as close as a 2% difference. Javier, who has had this thing in the bag since day one, claims the title and seems very humbled by his victory. He’s so happy, he promises a new puppy or kitten to everyone who voted for him and we are set free from this show.

Javier and Adam after the show

Note to the Producers: If you want to improve this show, I would suggest a few changes.. First, dump Carson Daly. He is, without a doubt, the worst host ever. His monotone delivery and lack of personality drag the show down and make you feel like you are being punished for watching.

Next, I would get rid of Blake as a coach. Yes, I know I will be skewered for suggesting this, but honestly, what did he offer the show? He was a wishy washy, nice guy who really didn’t give any advice to his team and made a bad choices in who he would keep (mousy Xenia over Patrick? Bitch please!)

More Adam… He was the single biggest surprise of the season. He seemed to give honest feedback; actually mentored his team and when it came to the tough call, he didn’t cop out like the rest.. He stepped up and did what was right. Hell, Adam should slide to the other network and take over for the awful, Steven Tyler, on AI.

Enough of the duets.. These are absolutely BRUTAL! If you want to make yourself better than the gold standard, AI, then don’t go and copy the worst part about their show.. Stop forcing people to sing together who have no business doing do. Duets rarely sound good because you need complimentary voices between people who dedicated to making two sounds, one.

Lastly, no matter what, get rid of the V Room! Watching contestants sitting awkwardly in the red room, trying to look interested in interacting with people on Twitter and Facebook is terrible television. Hey Alison.. How about we try to get how brutal your segment is as a trending Twitter topic?

What are your thoughts on the season? Do you agree with Javier being crowned and better yet, what about my thoughts of change for next season?

Our show kicks off with the still, very drab, Caron Daly telling us that each of the finalists will

Our show kicks off with the still, very drab, Caron Daly telling us that each of the finalists will perform a solo and a duet with their coach before turning it over to us, the viewers. Poor Carson, he’s gone this entire season without changing his boring, monotone delivery.. Homeboy needs to turn himself over to Emeril Lagasse to be hit with some Bam!

Our coaches perform a less than thrilling version of David Bowie/Queen’s “Under Pressure” as a way to kick things off.. All I got from that performance wasn’t so good, but we were treated to another bizarre Cee Lo outfit, so it almost made up for it.

The Producers wanted a 2 hour show, and as such, they needed a ton of filler, so we get the look back and studio time with coaches, all things I am going to skip here.

The Performances

Javier Colon: His original song is called “Stitch by Stitch” and I don’t know that I really dig the song so much, as it’s a bit of a mellow, love song that really never gives you one of those ‘wow’ moments.. What I did like about the song was Javier. This cat can flat out sing! His tone is consistently on; he has range and is able to make you take note when he breaks away from his soft sound with a little clean power. He performs it with his guitar and allows his voice to do the talking for him.

Javier’s duet with Adam Levine is Michael Jackson’s, “Man in the Mirror.” This is easily, the best performance of the night.. Javier and Adam sound like they have been singing together for years and the tone of their voices complement each other. Honestly, credit to Adam here for knowing tonight was not about himself, but Javier, and allowing him to take the lead the performance, with Adam almost being the accompaniment to his vocals. Again, the performance was not over the top with dancers and theatrics, rather two people feeding off the energy each generates and delivering a stand out performance.

If you haven’t seen this, do yourself a favor and check out the best of the night

Dia Frampton: Dia and Blake come out dressed like they are going to audition for the next Men in Black movie, sporting matching black suits, white shirts and dark glasses and perform Tom Petty’s, “I Won’t Back Down.” They sound decent and seemed to enjoy performing together, but it lacks energy and in the end is a tad flat.

“Inventing Shadows” is Dia’s original solo and yes, is miles better than the duet. Dia is seated once again, back behind her piano, where she seems the most comfortable. Her vocals are strong and she sings in her style well enough, but I am not certain she is a pop star in the making. Adult contemporary maybe? I am also not certain I could stomach an entire album of this, but of all the originals performed tonight, this is my favorite.

Dia’s best of the night

Beverly McClellan: Beverly and Christina dial it back a notch and really do an outstanding version of Christina’s, “Beautiful.” Now, do I dock Beverly points for singing an amazing song with the person who made it so, or do I give her credit for being able to hang in there with such a powerful singer, such as Christina? Since I really enjoyed this version, I am going to take the high road here and commend the performance because, much like Adam and Javier, this just feels right. Again, each is able to feed off one another; the vocal is spot on and honestly, is my second favorite performance of the night.

I do give Beverly credit, this girl is comfortable performing and likes to kick it up… While not exactly a rocker, she can live in the up-tempo neighborhood just fine. Her original, “Lovesick” was a fueled with energy that had her moving freely around the stage and she was able to really get the crowd behind her in doing so. Anyone else think of Meatloaf when you watch her perform? Again, this isn’t something I would listen to more than the once, but she certainly didn’t hurt herself with this song.

Bev and Xtina are “Beautiful”

Vicci Martinez: “Afraid to Sleep” is the original of choice and where someone had to be my favorite, someone else has to be my least favorite.. Welcome to the bottom, Vicci.. (I hope my T-Town crew won’t hold it against me for baggin’ on a local.) This song does zero for me, sounds dated and yes, she really put everything she had into it, I found myself wishing she had put her all into a better song.

Where Adam had Javier come out and sing a fantastic vocal for his duet, Cee Lo does what he does best.. Try to entertain and put on a show when he went to his roots and donned Road Warrior/Kool-aid man inspired look and had Vicci dress in a feather trimmed warrior thing as they belt out Pat Benatar’s, “Love is a Battlefield.” Look at the show they put on.. There are lights flashing, they look like they’re about to kick my ass and then, what is that?? Where did they find The Lost Boys from Hook? The voters are not going to give Vicci votes for being ‘The Voice’ after tonight, but this performance is a one hot, wonderful mess that screams Cee Lo Green!

Watch for the lost boys..

The public alone gets to decide the winner by voting and buying singles from the show on iTunes, with the winner being crowned on the next episode. I think it’s pure marketing genius by having iTunes purchases count towards the vote total, and in taking a quick look at the current charts, the four look like this (the lowest total points here is the winner)

Javier: 1st with 13 points (Stitch by Stich is 2nd and Man in the Mirror is 11th)
Dia: 2nd with 15 points (Inventing Shadows is 1st and I Won’t Back Down is 14th)
Beverly: 3rd with 46 points (Beautiful is 17th and Lovesick is 29th)
Vicci: 4th with 48 points (Afraid to Sleep is13th and Love is a Battlefield is 35th)

Clearly, as it has been for a while now, this is a two horse race between Javier and Dia… I have thought this since I first heard him sing and absolutely nothing has changed my mind through this who journey.. Javier is the best singer in this crew and will walk away with the title that is The Voice.

Am I all wrong here and do you think someone else will win? What’d you think of the show and the performances??

I was so excited to watch The Voice Finale last night. I had high hopes. Usually in these situations

I was so excited to watch The Voice Finale last night. I had high hopes.

Usually in these situations, my hopes are dashed when the producers decide to add filler, or give the contestants TERRIBLE pop drivel to sing.

But last night, I was absolutely satisfied!

Each of the 4 final singers sang two songs: 1 original, and one duet with their coach.

This had the potential to be a trainwreck. Original songs (a la American Idol) are generally speaking the worst cast off pop songs swept from the floor of a dirty Hollywood recording studio written by: Anonymous. And last night, they needed 4 songs. But, somehow – they were able to actually get some talented people to write and help produce songs tailored for each contestant. Amazing! Each song had the personality of the singer, and showed off their best singing features.

Dia had a brooding, building Kean-style song that totally fit her range and performance style. I didn’t mind the shadow boxes, I thought it was cool. There I said it.

Beverly had a pop-rock power piece that was perfect for her particular Etheridge-esque wheel-house.

Vicci - another powerful piece that showed off her vocal chops and strong performance abilities.

Javier had a smooth acoustic pop song that highlighted his beautiful voice and warm personality.

All of the songs were great, I’m a Dia/Javier fan so I thought they came out on top… but really, all were solid in their oringianls and I can see ALL of them being hits next week.

On to the Duets:

Dia and Blake are so cute. Can we just pause for a moment to acknowledge how cute their relationship is? I mean really. They could be father-daughter it’s so cute. So when they came out and sang a Tom Petty song with matching suits and shades on, it was an absolute highlight of the night for me.

Christina and Beverley are two very strong voices, but one thing that bothered me was the choice of song. Really Christina? Picking YOUR song to sing? Everyone else choise a song out of their own repertoire, are you that vain, or that uncomfortable taking a risk? I don’t get it. I am also note getting Christina’s recent fashion statments and hair ecisions. Just saying. Anyways, they sang the ‘you-know-what’ out of the song ‘Beautiful’ – but I really thought Beverley should have been featured more.

Javier and Adam took on the iconic MJ song Man in the Mirror. And who knew, that song could be sang in a duet by these two guys and completely be revived and refreshed? I loved it! I was skeptical, but actually, the two of them had a perfect blend of vocal range and style to pull it off. I guess after two years, it’s the right time to start covering some MJ songs and giving them new life.

Vicci and Cee-Lo sang Love is a Battlefield in true Cee-Lo fashion and form. There were Lost Boy dancers, tons of red feathers, mohawks, chains, spikes, lights and a lot of leather. Cee-Lo is a powerful image, so Vicci was fighting to be the ‘feature’. I think kCeeLO couldve taken it down a few notches for her sake, but her voice really did shine through. It was definitely one fianl performance to remember!

Thoughts?

Who is winning this thing? I wouldve said my girl Dia, but I’m not so sure after such strong performances last night. Everyone really does have a shot at this!

The Voice aired its first AI style Results Show of the season, a night after the big Semi Final show

The Voice aired its first AI style Results Show of the season, a night after the big Semi Final showdown aired and after nine weeks of this, Carson Daly is still a terrible, terrible host. Dude, go to a Greyhound station find a personality, would ya?

One member from each team moves to the finals as the coaches and America combine votes to determine a winner. After the show yesterday, Christina, Blake, Adam and Cee Lo each submitted a score by divvying up 100 points between their two members. America then cast votes, both numbers were given equal weight, and the person with the most points goes onto the Finals.

Yeah, one of the big issues with this show is that there is no standard way of doing things, so you have to pay attention week to week to figure out how things are working.

Team Cee Lo: Nakia vs. Vicci. Nakia thanked his man for all the sacrifices he’s made to support him on his musical endeavor. Vicci became a little misty, but held back the tears when Dullard Daly made mention that she’d be doing daddy proud by fulfilling his dream of a music career, which he gave up to do the family thing.

Cee Lo gave Nakia 51 points and Vicci 49, saying that her little drummer boys made it hard for him to hear her, thus, she was docked a point. After America’s scores are added in, it was Vicci Martinez that is headed to the finals. (For those of you keeping score, I’m 1-1. Woot!)

Team Adam: Casey vs. Javier. If you recall (time for a little more personal horn blowing) from my post yesterday, I mentioned that Adam clearly doesn’t want Casey to win, so he’ stacked the deck against her. Well, Adam admits to such when he reveals his voting by saying that Casey is 18 and has a long time to get her shit together, but Javier, well, he’s old and thus, needed to make sure his vote would push him through. I’m not sure why he didn’t just come out and say, “listen, you’re kinda hot, and yeah, you can sing too, but come on..Have you heard what this cat can do?”

Adam gave Casey a 35 and Javier a 65, and after America’s votes are added in, Javier Colon came out victorious. (I’m 2-2 here) I suppose this will result in a bit less traffic to my blog because search terms “casey westons legs” will no longer be valid.

Team Blake: Dia vs. Xenia. This entire portion of the show was predictable as they come.. Blake is a good ole boy, doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feeling and cops out by giving both ladies 50 each. Dude, you’re in the industry, so I know you are not tone deaf..Did you not hear Xenia’s voice crackle each week when the lights were on? Hell, not that I can blame her, but then again, I’m not trying to be The Voice either.

Luckily the rest of the planet was not as smitten with Xenia’s awkwardness and awards Dia Frampton her rightful victory. (Yeah, guess who has gone 3-3 so far?)

Team Christina: Frenchie vs. Beverly. Xtina also takes the easy way out when she proclaims that since both chicks were bald (perhaps I have a shot with Christina now, right?) she likes them equally and wanted America to decide who moves on…In giving both a 50, (note, I called for Bev here in a bit of a gamble..) America did me proud…A shocked Beverly McClellan gets a congratulatory kiss from Christina as Frenchie is sent home.

Frenchie, I know American Idol didn’t want you and now The Voice has given you the boot as well.. But don’t worry, there’s always “America’s Got Talent.”

To sum it up, I went 4-4 in my predictions as we’re left with Vicci Martinez, Javier Colon, Dia Frampton and Beverly McClellan in the Finals next week.

Were you surprised by the any of the outcomes? Who do you think is going to be The Voice?

After a quick rundown, we kick things off with the elimination of two people from both Team Adam and

After a quick rundown, we kick things off with the elimination of two people from both Team Adam and Team Cee Lo. The voting public show they are not complete idiots and have voted to save Vicci Martinez, leaving Cee Lo to save Nakia. Terrible Tori and Taylor Thompson and iffy Curtis Grimes are given their walking papers back to a normal life.

Adam Levine is presented with a much tougher task as America voted to save Javier Colon (of course he was.) Team Adam must decide between young Casey Weston and early favorite, Jeff Jenkins.. Adam selects Casey, who might have been a surprise to some, but after last week, you might recall I had Jeff pegged as one to leave. (Sure, nerdy Devon Barley was also kicked from the show, but he never stood a real chance anyway.)

Frenchie Davis performed Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and while her vocals are always pretty strong, the song itself was rather tame, and not something that anyone will remember longer than… During the coaching sessions, Christina tells Frenchie to take “churchy” but what was performed was far from that.

Nakia is given “Whataya Want From Me” by Adam Lambert, which I believe is the second song done this season by former American Idoler (Kelly Clarkson’s Since You’ve Been Gone” was used in the battle rounds.) Unfortunately for Nakia, it’s not a song most people know and is again, just ok.

Dia Frampton, who used a piano last week, decides to go with her guitar in hand when she changed up REM’s “Losing My Religion.” This girl really does have some talent, makes the song her own and sells the performance. She’s obviously very comfortable performing and knows what her style is.

Dia’s performance

Poor Casey Weston… Adam clearly doesn’t want this girl to have a shot against Javier because, as Simon Cowell would tell him.. When you do a song like that, you will always be compared to the better version and lose. Case in point with her version of “I Will Always Love You” an old Dolly Parton song, but really, most everyone knows that as the song Whitney Houston absolutely crushed in the 80’s. It’s not as if Casey was horrible during her version, but she certainly came off like the bridesmaid here.

Beverly McClellan is handed “The Thrill is Gone” by B.B. King. Christina mentions how much she loves this song, proves it during the rehearsal by jumping in and belting out a verse, causing Beverly’s eyes to go wide and her voice to almost wilt.. Yeah, you were just served! Beverly is one of those people that I can listen to sing and think..”Hey, she’s not that bad..” Then I watch her and am immediately put off by her rather intense, wide eyes and constant head shaking thing.. I know I’m a picky bastard, but this is my blog, so ha!

Javier Colon comes out, slaps his guitar into motion and knocks out Coldplay’s “The Fix” as if he wrote the damn thing. This guy, hands down, has won this show and it’s not even close. Listen to his vocal on this song and pretend you’re Randy Jackson.. I dare you to find a pitch problem, because it’s simply not there. This performance has just a little more grit to it than his other songs, which shows he as a little more game to him that first believed

Javier does Coldplay

The worst decision by a coach so far, Xenia, sings The Scripts “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved.” First, she’s young.. Very young, so there is hope she will grow as she gets older, but as of now, her performances are lacking. Glued to the floor, with zero movement, she starts off well enough, but a few moments into her song, her voice crackles, and any life she had vanishes. I don’t care what Blake says, keeping the cowboy, Patrick Thomas, last week would have been a better call.

Vicci Martinez came out in a chick hawk do and banged the crap out of two drums while singing “Dog Days are Over” by Florence and the Machine. The song isn’t one I think most people know, but it didn’t matter a bit. She was entertaining, filled with energy and will easily beat out Nakia on Cee Lo’s team moving forward.

Vicci closes the show

In looking into my biased crystal ball, I see the final four looking something like this..

Team Adam: Javier Colon
Team Cee Lo: Vicci Martinez
Team Christina: Beverly McClellan
Team Blake: Dia Frampton

The Beverly over Frenchie call may be a bit of a gamble, but I do feel as if she is a tad better and will scoot through. What are your thoughts on this week and who should get to move on?

So, isn’t the quality of performances supposed to increase as eliminations happen and the weaker con

So, isn’t the quality of performances supposed to increase as eliminations happen and the weaker contestants are sent home? If so, someone should let the people over at NBC in on this little secret, because the level of suck they put out yesterday as ‘undiscovered talent’ was flat out embarrassing.

Before I get to the bad (most of the performances,) I’ll make note of the good on the show (sending people home.) Team Christina is cut in half, sending 2 members home. America voted, and according to Carson, a lot of people voted. Honest, a really, really, really lot of them did. Well, some Americans voted and saved Beverly McLellan, meaning Christina had to save one of the few people who can sing in this competition, Frenchie Davis. Happy trails Raquel and Lilly..May we never hear you butcher a song again.

Team Cee Lo kicks off the performances when he sends mousy sisters, Tori and Taylor Thompson out to perform “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” a song by The Andrews Sisters from 1941. Hell, another sister duo sang this song nearly 70 years ago, so why not do it again? Honestly, what planet is Cee Lo on and why would you force two kids to sing something so dated and clearly a loser of a song unless you were trying to rid yourself of such a bad choice in the first place? Bad, just bad.

Team Adam is up next with Casey Weston singing KT Tunstall’s, “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree.” During practice she clearly isn’t comfortable in the direction Adam wants her to go (up tempo) but in the end, she embraces it and does a meh to decent job, but really isn’t anything special that will be remembered 2 minutes past her performance. Sadly, the coaches continue to play nice, save for Christina who managed to give her some constructive criticism with “Make sure in the future that you don’t let your background overpower your performance.”

Vicci Martinez performs Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” with a little soul and passion and made it work for her. She takes it up a notch towards the end and in the end, does a good job with the song.

The second best song of the night

Adam gives Devon Barley “Stop and Stare” by OneRepublic. You can see he is going to struggle with it during his practice sessions with Adam and he doesn’t disappoint when it comes to his live performance. Pitch is all over and he is visibly uncomfortable on stage. The coaches all play nice again making me wish for a Simon to tell this guy to listen to his father and go back to med school.

Kings of Leon’s, “Sex on Fire” is given to Nakia by Cee Lo, which means it must be time to torture me with more bad karaoke. Where the hell is my drink?? His vocals don’t exactly blow as hard as I expect them to, but his look and movement on stage do. Next!

Until this point of the competition, Jeff Jenkins has been one of the few who I think have a legit shot at winning this thing. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m surprised someone as dorky as he is can sing or if it’s really just his vocal ability. He gets to sing Carrie Underwood’s, “Jesus Take The Wheel” which is one of those songs that will be very hard to do justice to. At points, he does do well, yet he has moments that go flat and left me wondering if I misjudged him to begin with..I think he’ll earn a pass to move on based on his upside, but damn son.. Also, pro tip for Jeff.. Saying that you are “still waiting on that legal Thompson sister” and the mental image associated with it surely made everyone watching throw up in their mouth. You don’t win votes by being a creeper…

I’m not sure who is responsible for the cruel joke that is deep voiced, country guy, Curtis Grimes, singing Robert Palmers 1986 “Addicted to Love”, but thank you. It’s boring with a side of bad and topped with dollop of you poor bastard. Start packing, Curt.

In the first smart move of the night, NBC has Javier Colon close out the show with Sarah MacLachlan’s “Angel.” I don’t care that he’s almost cheating (remember we’re looking for undiscovered talent here) and has already released two solo records with Capitol, this guy is hands down, the best thing about this show.

If you missed it, here’s Javier killin’ it

Team Blake is brought on stage where we again, get to end on a high note. America correctly saves Dia, forcing Blake to save the best remaining singer, Patrick Thomas. Blake has a brain fart, utters the name Xenia and shockingly sends the more talented, Patrick Thomas home. Even Carson is floored by his choice, with his mouth agape asking him… WTF were you thinking? Blake defends his choice by saying he likes awkward, shy girls who have no chance at winning, so there you go.

Next week we get to eliminate four more people with my early line on the Thompson sisters, Casey, Devon and Curtis getting das boot.

Who do you think is headed out after tonight’s episode? Will another coach pull a Blake?

The show kicks off with the always drab and boring, Carson Daly, leading us into a group performance

The show kicks off with the always drab and boring, Carson Daly, leading us into a group performance of our coaches, better known as four of the world’s biggest mega talents, doing a queen medley that surely has Freedie Mercury rolling over in his grave. Blake managed to pull off his portion, Cee-Lo and Adam tried (props to Adam’s guitar solo) but did anyone hear Christina actually sing?? Perhaps her homage to Freddy was the ridiculous hot pleather pants, which in no way complimented her form. Someone needs to let her know that she’s not a size 2 any longer and that the old rule of less is more no longer applies in her case.

Kicking off the performances was little Raquel Castro and her version of Ke$ha’s “Blow.” Decked out in a tiny, shiny dress, huge heels and a bevy of backup dancers, Raquel worked her way through the number with average at best vocals marred with pitch problems (where the hell is Randy??) I’ll give her credit for trying to connect and put on a decent show, but sadly, it was just… Meh.

Daughtry Jr AKA, Jared Blake, is up next working with “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon. Where to start with this guy? First, stop with that look, just stop already! The person that tells wannabe rock guys to deck themselves out in bandana’s, chains and motorcycle boots should be sent to sew in a Chinese sweat shop for the rest of their days. Dude, what makes a rocker a rocker is your ability to perform, entertain and to get a little dirty, in an honest, it’s who I am way. Sadly, this clown tries too hard to be what he wants to be rather than letting his ability to sing speak for itself. His vocals are credible, but from his look to his forced performance (and that thing with the chick in the crowd.. Bitch, please) he has ZERO appeal.

Beverly McLellan is up next singing “I’m the Only One” by Melissa Etheridge. My thought here is that if NBC just went with letting these people sing and you weren’t forced to watch them sing, she could very well be in contention. Her throaty vocals were actually pretty decent, but again, her look is borderline laughable. Dressed in military style jacket, below the knee plaid skirt and boots, she just looked.. Lame. But, given that, she really seemed to be having a good time and that more than made up for her look.

Dia Frampton gives the first non-karaoke performance of the night with her version of “Heartless” by Kanye West. Christina Struggles to admit that she just watched someone from Blake’s team kick her team’s ass, but Adam agrees with me in saying it was the best thing he’s seen on The Voice so far and I have to agree. I’m not sure she’s the best singer on the show, but so far, she’s the only one who has shown she can be herself and not something I can see in any bar in America.

Believe it or not, this was the best of the night

Christina comes out to sing with her girls wearing another outfit that is way too small for her body… Is she hoping for a wardrobe malfunction?? They do an ok job and at the end, lamer Carson leans in close to the camera to utter a wide eyed “wow.. that was amazing.” God this guy sucks.

Meek little Xenia sang Jessie J.’s “Price Tag” and honestly, this was the most comfortable I’ve seen her look on stage yet, but with that said, she’s still miles away from looking like someone who belongs on stage. Each time the camera showed Blake, he reminded me of one of those cheer/pageant moms miming the performance with their kid, hoping to just get them through it. I will be interested to see how she can grow if she manages to stick around (I don’t think she will) a while.

Lily Elise tries to sing Fergie’s”Big Girls Don’t Cry” but if you recall from the battle rounds, I was shocked when she moved on and will say it again.. This girl sucks. I don’t care what the judges have to say, I know shitty when I see/hear it.. Next!

Blake and his team come out to sing Maroon 5’s “This Love,” which brings a smile to Adam’s face…Honestly, it’s a crappy, sloppy mess and this whole sing with your coach thing should be removed from the show moving forward.

Patrick Thomas muddles his way through “I Hope You Dance” a boring Lee Ann Womack song. Patrick can sing, but I’m not sure this song does him any favor.. More Karaoke from The Voice, more blah… Christina keeps sayin’ that she’s waiting for him to take his pants off; Adam tells him that she wants to do em, so it’s not all bad for Patrick.

Frenchie Davis goes with an up tempo number in “When Love Takes Over,” by David Guetta. Frenchie really can sing, has a lot of power and polish to her game and will be around next week, but it doesn’t do much for me. Pretty much par for the course on this show, a bunch of meh performances with one or two surprises.

After watching the first live show of The Voice, I still don’t believe it can touch Idol. Production value, sound, feel and flow. Also, what are your thoughts on the all the dancers? Better to have those than the Idol backup singers? I do know that I saw 7 bad to average performances leading me to think that there’s a reason why these people are all undiscovered..

Since two from each team get saved via fan vote and coaches save, my thought is that Blake’s team will lose Jared and Xenia and Christina’s team will send Lilly and Raquel home.

What did you think of tonight? Who do you think are headed out and who will get to stay?
