Jakarta – Bagi para penggila komputer, khususnya pelaku overclock, sebuah pendingin prosesor yang mumpuni mutlak dibutuhkan. Tak heran jika ada beberapa overclockers yang rela menggunakan pendingin dengan cairan nitrogen untuk perangkat mereka.

Nah, kali ini, detikINET kedapatan pendingin prosesor dari Thermaltake. Produsen pendingin yang cukup terkenal di pasaran itu mendatangkan Thermaltake Duo Orb untuk dicicipi.

Secara umum, produk yang hadir dengan kipas ganda itu ternyata mempunyai fungsi lebih dari sebuah pendingin prosesor. Sesuai pengamatan detikINET, perangkat lain seperti Motherboard ataupun Memory juga ikut didinginkan oleh produk ini.

Lebih Adem Namun Lebih Sunyi

Meski memiliki kipas ganda, jangan dulu beranggapan produk ini bakal mengeluarkan suara yang bising. Pada kenyataanya produk ini malah lebih hening dari kipas standar bawaan prosesor.

Selain itu tentunya produk ini juga lebih baik dalam hal mendingkan prosesor, lebih lagi dalam kondisi ter-overclock. detikINET menjajal produk ini pada sistem berbasis AMD socket AM3 dengan prosesor AMD Phenom II X3 720.

Menurut keterangan yang didapat dari aplikasi CoreTemp, tercatat suhu prosesor berada sekitar 36 derajat ketika menggunakan kipas standar. Sedangkan jika menggunakan Thermaltake Orb terjadi penurunan sekitar 3 derajat menjadi 33 derajat pada kondisi idle.

Untuk lebih meyakinkan lagi detikINET memacu kecepatan prosesor dari 2,8GHz menjadi 3,6Ghz. Di sinilah Thermaltake Duo Orb unjuk gigi, dengan kipas standar pada kedaan beban maksimum temperatur dapat mencapai suhu 54 derajat, sedangkan menggunakan Thermaltake Duo Orb hanya berada di kisaran 42 derajat.

Instalasi yang Merepotkan

Kipas Thermaltake Duo Orb ditujukan bagi sistem dengan prosesor AMD ataupun Intel LGA 775. Meski sangat handal dalam masalah performa, namun pemasangan produk ini menurut detikINET tergolong merepotkan.

Khususnya untuk platform AMD, pengguna harus menggantikan dudukan orisinal kipas prosesor dengan yang disertakan dalam kemasan Thermaltake Duo Orb. Ini artinya untuk memasang pendingin seluruh motherboard harus dikeluarkan dari casing dan mur yang mengencangkan dudukan kipas yang ada di balik motherboard harus dilepaskan.

Hal yang paling menyebalkan adalah jika pengguna ingin melepas kembali produk ini. Akibat pasta yang disertakan, prosesor tampak tidak mau lepas dari pendingin ini. Bahkan ketika detikINET berusaha lebih keras, pendingin tersebut malah mengangkat paksa prosesor dari motherboard. Kejadian ini tentu berisiko menyebabkan pin pada prosesor bengkok dan yang lebih parah lagi jika pin itu sampai tanggal.

Alhasil, jika pengguna sudah memutuskan untuk menggunakan pendingin ini sebaiknya jangan berganti-ganti lagi. Dan jika perlu mengganti prosesor AMD yang didinginkan melepaskannya harus bersamaan, jangan melepaskan pendinginnya secara terpisah saat prosesor masih terpasang di motherboard.

Kesimpulannya, kami berani mengatakan Thermaltake Duo Orb merupakan pendingin prosesor yang cukup handal. Terlebih lagi, penampilannya yang menarik dengan kombinasi dua lampu yang menyala, membuat produk ini bisa membuat indah jeroan PC. Berminat? Siapkan Rp.690.000 untuk mendapatkannya.

I have 2 of these in my CM690 and the airflow on these are fantastic! I’m also surprised how they don’t, even together, make any audible noise. They are very helpful for cooling on Side Panels and Ceiling of cases.

I love this power supply. The Toughpower 1000W is actually 2 500W powersupplies in tandem. It was placed out very well, your video cards have one 500W powersupply, the rest of your system another.

There are 6 videocard connections, allowing you to do triple SLI with cards like the 9800GTX that require 2 power connectors. You’ll need to use 8 to 6 pin adaptors, but those are included.

My voltages are very stable, even under load.

The only reason I’d tell you to not buy this right now is that this powersupply is LONG. Measure your case first and make sure it will fit. If it does fit, then I can tell you to buy this right now.

I am eletrical engineer and normally i want to get from a power supply all the specifications of it. This power supply did it and also it offer a lot of connector options. You will not run out of SATA power connected, or PCI-Xpress power connector. You will love this power supply. The only thing that you will miss is the cool look of internal lights for those who love this extra features. From the electrical point of view this PSU rocks.

I am unaware of how dope this thing will be. The intrigue for this product is that BMW has put its stamp on it as they collaborate with Thermaltake on a 2 foot tall computer case. It is a lights, camera, action type emotion as it stores a ton of goodies on the inside . The  Level 10 case as its known weighs 40+ pounds and will be priced at about $700 dollars.

I built this computer a few weeks ago, so I figured now would be a good time to review it since I’ve been using it for a while. The computer was pretty easy to assemble, the processor came with thermal paste already on it, everything fits perfectly in this case. I recommend building a computer instead of buying an OEM one, you’ll probably end up with a much better computer and it will cost less.

Thermaltake 850W Power Supply:

This is a really nice power supply. My favorite thing about it is the fact that you only have to attach the wires that you need, so it makes the computer a lot neater inside. I think it’s pretty quiet too, but I can’t tell most of the time because the fans on my case are usually on high.

Asus P5KPL-AM SE Motherboard:

The things I don’t like about this board is the lack of firewire, there’s only 2 RAM slots, and that there’s only 2 SATA ports. I guess I don’t need more than that but its nice to know that I can upgrade if I need to. Besides that, its a great motherboard (not so great for a hackintosh, though). Apparently its easy to overclock the RAM and processor (I’m not going to find out) and easy to flash the BIOS (Again, not going to find out).

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.23GHz Processor:

It’s fast. What else is there to say?

eVGA GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB Graphics Card:

Its a huge card, but my games run great. I did have some trouble getting it to work with OS X but I managed to get it working.

This has been a very stable computer. It runs great, looks great, and I don’t really have any regrets. If I could do it all over again, I would have done a little more research about how well the motherboard works with OS X before buying it.

There is so much controversy regarding Dell power supplies, I thought I would review this item.I have installed this item in a Dell Dimension 8200.This computer is a 1.8 Ghz Pentium 4.It previously had a Dell 250 W power supply.This new power supply is working flawlessly!I changed out the smaller P.S., because I am upgrading to a XFX6600Gt graphics card, which requires 300 W minimum.I did have some concerns, after the erronous cautions from Dell support (India).But all is well.I notice that the dual fan configuration is very quiet.

Also, only one caveat.You will need a nibbling tool to remove some rear case sheet metal, so you can clear the rocker switch on this P.S.Not a big problem once you see how it performs.

Ok, so after a short break from Dream Build, we’re back with a vengeance! But today I would like to add to my previous ‘intro to air cooling.’  Previously, I went through the general method to optimal case air flow for maximum cooling. So now that we have determined how we want our air to flow, we will chose the fans to get that air a-flowin’!

In my mind, the most important aspects of a fan are (in no particular order): fan size, amount of air flow, and noise generated by the fans. Features like LED’s and fan color are more for your personal taste. Manual speed control of the fan is also a great feature!

Size:  The general rule of thumb for fan size is smaller fans push less air and are more noisy (which is no good, right?), while bigger fans push more air and are quieter (which IS good).

Amount of Airflow:  This one should be pretty self explanatory, but the more air being pushed (or pulled), the greater the cooling power. Airflow is often measured with the units CFM, or Cubic Feet per Minute.

Noise:  Story time!  When I built my first computer (many moons ago), the biggest fans that I had were 80mm, and I had about 5. Then I added hard drive coolers (more small fans), and a few more 80mm fans because I had no idea what I was doing. When I turned on my computer, it sounded like a hair dryer. I thought that it was worth it because I had so many fans, and thus more cooling. But my airflow design (reference Intro to Air Cooling) was very, very poor, so I could not even reap the benefits of all of the fans. Anyway, moral of the story, no one wants to be around a computer case if they can’t even hear the music, games, etc over the case itself. Less noise is better.

I would like to introduce you to two friends, the Thermaltake ISGC fan, and the Enermax Everest Twister fan.  Both of these are 120mm fans with maximum air flow from 46.1 CFM to 58.3 CFM with a noise rating of about 16 dB and about 10 dB respectively (Click on the links above  for full specifications).  The Thermaltake fan has adjustable speed, while the Enermax fan controls its speed on the basis of the temperature sensor that is on the fan itself (you can’t disable this unless you cut the wires leading to the sensor and use some electrical tape to connect the wires).

I personally bought 2 of the Thermaltake fans for a few reasons; 120mm, low noise, black and white [because I recently painted my case with a black and white theme], and amount of airflow. These two are mounted outside of my case on my radiator (see Intro to Water Co0ling) so it looks just right!

I hope this has shed some light on fan selection and the factors going into choosing the right fan!

Top themal solutions company Themaltake have announce a new mid-tower chassis, named the WingRS 301. Its fairly standard as to what you would expect from a model in area of the market. Featuring four 5.25″ bays, 1 external 3.5″ bay and four internal 3.5″ for your HDD’s.

One feature that does stand out however is the rather large handle that’s protruding from the top. I love the way that we are getting more mid-tower’s with handles, and anyone going to a LAN party will be very grateful of it. However, I don’t think this one has been styled in such a discrete way as we have seen in other models, the CM Storm Scout springs to mind as an example.

Other features include 7 tool-less PCI slots, tool-less HDD bays. It seems a little light on cooling with space for a single 120mm at the front and rear. And although not mentioned in the write up, it seems there’s also a slot for a smaller fan on the left side panel. Knowing Thermaltake cases this will likely house a 92mm fan, but may only be 80mm.
