If I have done some work (for example) rewiring – is it up to me as the property owner to request an inspection?

THE CITY ANSWERS:

The property owner MUST REQUEST AN INSPECTION.

The Building Department cannot enter private property without permission.

QuESTION- THAT WOMAN
If so,( REFERRING TO PREVIOUS QUESTION) is the responsibility put on the property owner to contact the Building Dept. Is there any follow up on the building permits pulled as to the condition/ quality of work being done and in a timely manner?

THE CITY ANSWERS:

Yes. At the bottom of the permit, several different job types are listed. When work is completed on these jobs,

“THE OWNERS ARE TO CALL the Building Department” for review. However, the Building Department may not know when work is completed until the owner calls.

QUESTION – THAT WOMAN
Can the property owner still refuse entry to the property for inspection even with a building permit ? Does that limit the inspections from the sidewalk only unless the house is open and unsecured?

THE CITY ANSWERS:

Property owners can refuse entry by our inspectors.

Inspectors are free to do inspections from the sidewalk as well as inspections from the view of a neighboring property, provided the neighbor grants permission to go onto their property to view concerns. If the house is unsecured, the inspector can obtain search warrants in order to enter the property.

Just to be clear – are you saying if the work is done on the inside of the property by the property owner unless they agree to let the inspectors in to inspect the work you cannot inspect the work done?

I have attached “Entry to other structures” for your review. This document outlines the laws restricting access to private property by an inspector. But, to answer your question, the owner has to allow the inspector into his home.

In essence would I be correct in saying that “we in Lorain are going upon TRUST the property owner will call to have an inspection and if they don’t is there any recourse????

THE CITY ANSWERS:

In talking with Mr. Klinar, over 3800 permits were pulled this past year. With the number of employees we have, we cannot check up on all projects to see how much progress is being done.

Plus, being invited in to review the work also complicates items. Therefore, with the limited number of employees, we wait until the homeowner requests an inspection. As for recourse, unless we inspect it, the City cannot do much.

THE multi million dollar granting facility from the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation that helps the offenders… the same “Community” that helped the now defunct Compass House to help populate this area with more RSO’s than we knew or know what to do with (261 in Lorain- as per the data from the Sheriffs Dept.

How about those halfway houses for the adult parolees???? not that we don’t have parolees in our neighborhoods and community already Looks like there were 287 parolees in Lorain as per the Dept of Corrections website – And these are just the members of our “COMMUNITY” that can be tracked .

AND how about the lucrative Non Profit SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES- you know that part of our “business” COMMUNITY whose clients are part of our community

We discussed love, types of love and all its facets. Since Chris’s death I have learned something I did not know about love I do know, now , a mother’s love for her child does not die, does not lessen. A mother does not put the love and loss away to bring it out occasionally. The love is always there and undying love is the definition.

I am one of the ones that have been vocal and as honest as I can be about how this loss of my son, Chris, and this terrible journey, which stops time. Once before my “love” of my son was negated and called into question as I grieved for him . I was the recipient of a “note” last month from Dr. Angela Marie (Lombardi) Ritchey DO , it was meant ( in my opinion ) to cause me pain as Chris’ mother. The “note” came through the “mail drop” of my dead son’s belongings- how thoughtful was that? I am not sure why or what purpose she hoped to serve. Her particular mindset is not MY worry.

There was one sentence though that has caused me to ponder the meaning both from the usage of the English language but also the words “your intense love”
The whole sentence reads:“I think your intense love for Chris shielded you from getting to know who he completely was.

I explored that sentence in the rest of the post that Mother’s Day 2010 and ended the post with the following :

What , I wonder, was her “base line” for the definition of my “INTENSE love” I can only wonder if what seems natural to those that love and receive love unconditionally is not always understood by those who may not have had that experience.

I know why Gabriel died and so do all of you. I’ll spell it out for those who are new here: CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT, HYPOPLASTIC LEFT HEART SYNDROME. Period. I can usually deal with it when strangers tell me why they think he died (God’s plan, angels needed, blah blah etc.). I researched the arguments about God / Gods / gods, faith and beliefs literally taking apart the history of organized religion as we know it- bringing in all the hypocrisy, past sins and present of organized religion as it crosses from one belief into anothers – the post got lengthier and lengthier and the plethora of links turned the post text green.

Yes, I can debate the inconsistency of religion and beliefs – point out the sheer nonsense and illogical thinking in ALL faith systems but what would it serve? Am I going to change the thinking? NO! I can only “believe ” in my own beliefs and why SHOULD I take it upon myself to influence others?

Here am I right in the middle of a Christian community and predominately a ” Roman Catholic city” . My ways are not their ways and my beliefs are not their beliefs and yet “their ways” have been forced upon me and my family by their parishioners and their priests/ bishops and their “culture” etc. Recently I was told that because Chris was cremated that negated his chance for resurrection and he was doomed for eternity ( nice thing to impart to a grieving mother).

I wonder if that person had been born in a predominately Indian community whether they would have “preached ” the resurrection theory – probably not-

I am not of the Indian culture but having an ancient heritage myself that had similar beliefs before the birth of Jesus Christ and the “organized “catholic church” ( the true definition of the meaning of catholic) a person who belongs to the universal Christian church- I can understand the beliefs of some of the Indian religions.

I would like to think “COMPASSION for those that grieve “ knows no boundary among the organized religious beliefs just the common denominator of humanity . Let me let you into my world and others who have lost a child once again – IT IS DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER LOSS IN YOUR LIFE-

Unless one has lived through the losing of a son or daughter and had to watch as their grasp on the spark of life fades along with the hope – the sheer exhaustion of hour after hour- day after day – night after night and the tremendous toll it takes on your heart, body and mind – the ability to breathe, to stay strong fighting a losing battle and yet not daring to give up – just incase there is the slightest chance.

You have no idea the sheer terror , questioning , hoping , praying , the deals made with God, the what ifs – why is this happening- are we being punished – what can I do ? You are scared to leave their side to rest incase the worst happens whilst you aren’t there . You are mentally, emotionally and physically at the lowest ebb – you are desperate and as you quietly scream internally, you hedge your bets clinging onto anything that would take away the pain and heal your child as you watch your child fade before your eyes and the helplessness overwhelms you.

You hope against hope that even if YOU aren’t worthy of compassion or of “God’s benevolence” that one of the, in Chris’s case, thousands of people world-wide at least “one” would be deserving of having a prayer answered. .

When you outlive your child there is a guilt – a guilt that you wake in the morning and they don’t and that somehow you were lacking. You have no idea that even after death the wounds remain with you every day- you can relive those days in a flash all at once – everything you felt and hoped and dreamed and the utter despair floods in – you are at the mercy of grief.

So for some troglodyte of humanity to tell a grieving father that had he had faith his son would have been healed sickens me. There are times I want to leave this community , to run away but I would take my grief with me no matter the culture .

I am sick of politicians bringing God into everything nationally and locally – I am sick of the God Squad of athletes praying for a touchdown or a goal. I am tired of the self-righteous, pontificators of “their particular” brand of religion being forced upon one because they are in the majority of thinking in any one area. I am sick of wars based upon religion with all sides proclaiming God/ Allah/ Buddha/ Zeus/ Jehovah or whoever is on their side.

We KNOW nothing We just know the “stories and the fables and the experiences of others” passed down through a few thousand years- we only know what we believe and have “faith ” in and the caveman as he crawled out of his cave and saw fire from the sky had his beliefs too. We are just as ignorant and in more than one occasion lately it is the ignorance rather than the compassion that is at the fore.

You have your way – others have theirs and “I am sorry” and a touch of a hand will suffice to those that grieve. For those that preach at me about forgiveness- just because you say I should doesn’t mean I am able or willing to forgive the cataclysm of selfishness that has been thrust upon my family by those who can……..

How she got that idea I will never know, although I was taking a series of pops at Mayor Foltin, the Republican. There was a really diverse cross-section of political beliefs on that blog and I was the resident INDEPENDENT. I will sign anyone’s petition who wants to run for office though and that has set the cat among the pigeons on more than one occasion including recently.It is amazing how threatened people are by something called the “tea party” – gosh you would think they were the Brits

However, I really got up this ” debby webby” woman’s nose and I was subject to all sorts of comments under various “nom de plumes”. Yes, unfortunately the “no names” tend to have more than one and have been known to post under all and sundry.

So when I put up some documentation on WoM with regard to a candidate’s claim( funnily enough a Democrat), an ensuing insulting comment came across the comments section directed at me and stating I had felony convictions etc. I made the mistake of connecting it to the Debby Webby personna from Lorain County dot-com. I was wrong and had to eat crow and apologize to the non entity and it soon turned out it was the “candidates girlfriend” who then publicly apologized, although I doubt that would have happened if she hadn’t been totally caught in the act

I made a promise to myself never to play that game again. Yes, I am aware of who some of the nom de plumes are on various sites and I understand their reasoning. You will find a few writing under a pen name here on this blog BUT! I know why they have to do so and I know who they are and they provide me with documentation to support their opinions.

I have been brought into various conversations on the Morning Journal site in recent days, even insulted by a couple.

Just a note here if you haven’t the guts to insult me under your own name “why the hell do you think I would be bothered with your opinion as nutty nutso or ticked off tarantula or whatever monika fits you at the moment-.

However, my lesson learned:

it is dangerous to play the guessing game BUT it is also irresponsible for the crazy daisy contingent to be involved in the “gotcha commenting” on these blogs.

For instance there are one or two regular comment makers on various sites including the Morning journal and Lorain County dot-com who are consistent in their platform – Fact Checker ( Lorain City Schools and the BOE) and Zebulon- ( Lorain City Schools, Lorain and politics) .

Of course they have their right to defend their platform and tell their side of the argument BUT as they know their on-screen persona is being attributed to others in real life, is it fair to those being “named” to have to bear the brunt of their writings?

Fact Checker is being outed frequently on boards as the new “media ” person at Lorain City Schools and also sharing the screen name with another administrator – so the cutesy little quote

could be seen as telling the truth if that is the case. Problem is the “we are so clever” wink, wink, nod, nod in our little game showing through. SIGH especially since the subject matter merits a seriousnessnot found in the touche retorts.

Zebulon , of course has been attributed to a local attorney who is “involved” in most things Lorain. The attorney stirs up his own “confluence of air and waters to beat against the bastions”( Mary Queen of Scots) under his own name doesn’t need anymore from a Zebby Webby .

Now I ask you Fact Checker or “checker(s) is that fair to the media person at Lorain City Schools? After all this young man is earning $65,720.00 for the 2011-2012 school year from Educational Service Center from the Title 1 21st Century – Gear Up and Carl D Perkins Grant.

I am sure that a “professional media person”would know from Marketing 101 the aim is to take a negative and an unknown and turn it into a positive and known. NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND! I am sure Title 1 monies aren’t meant to promote a negative. Lorain City Schools needs to put paid to the rumour mill of who is who checking the facts- “credibility” is being lost ????? If indeed Lorain City Schools are aware of an employee or in-house supporter writing as Fact Checker – I would suggest they rethink their strategy this situation is not worthy of an educational system striving for transparency and excellence.

When you write under your own name, people who read your writings “KNOW FROM WHENCE YOU CAME” – IF YOU INDEED HAVE AN AGENDA OR A PERSONAL REASON OR ARE PAID SO TO DO – in putting forth your opinions.

However, FACT CHECKER AND ZEBULON ( whomever they maybe ) and no matter how much you are trying to give a positive position with Lorain City Schools you are doing them a disservice- Why hide behind such names? if you are proud of your opinion and LCS then speak out .

Unfortunately, what you are managing to do is to take the away the focus on what you are saying as to who is saying it and I am sure that is not a good marketing technique. Yesterday as part of the ongoing “conversation of the covert” FC said :

ED note – pot calling the kettle black and speaking of kettles -there is that “tea party” again I am going to have to explore the tea party- they must be dreadful bunch to be cast as an insult time and time again.

I would think that would make the new “media person” for Lorain City Schools very concerned – his paid position for promoting a positive image being negated by a nom de plume.

So Fact Checker when the facts are in -you are losing credibility for the very system you so admire - no longer the focus of what you say but who is saying it. This community has had enough of game playing – they are distrustful- they are tired of word games and the name game you are playing is costing votes and credibility at a time when Lorain City Schools needs both .

It is very simple really when people disagree with a real person they focus their disagreement, or in some cases anger on THAT person , what is happening here, in my opinion, is the Lorain City Schools is now becoming the target of the frustration and angst , as LCS is the focus of writing - I am sure that is not your intent BUT that is what is happening .

As for Zebulon – sorry same goes and another maybe taking the blame as well and the target is becoming once again Lorain and her schools.

There were no fisty -cuffs, no shouting, just businesses and their representatives , social service agencies and their representatives, the Lorain office of Sherrod Brown , ( funding?? of those agencies )representatives from the Lorain clergy, a number of non-profits, and of course the City of Lorain and the council member for the 2nd ward. It was quite a large crowd and they were so polite.

There is an issue with the clients of Catholic Charities of 8th Street and they were there to “listen” to the surrounding businesses as to the concerns as to how “some” of their clientele are causing problems to those in the area.

There was some anecdotal discussion, and “stepping lightly”.

It seemed to me that really nobody wanted to appear to be the “mean’ and unfeeling; everyone was very cognizant of not degrading those that have less than ourselves. In fact to the point of almost “hey my best friend is homeless” scenario

The end result was “let us meet again” explore more fully … yadyada yada …..and I agree , there has to be a coming together, there has to be talk and action but we also have to be honest and frank. Maybe if the media hadn’t been there I don’t know if the dialogue would have been more open. Talking is good BUT a major problem was not addressed: Maybe the next meeting!

We can’t pussyfoot around an issue here BECAUSE IT IS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM!

This is how I see it from a resident of Lorain’s oldest neighborhood who has been in touch with the downtown more than most and also runs a non -profit ( without salary I might add) .

Social Service Agencies are BIG BUSINESS- they have a lot of dollars ( millions upon millions) given to them to run their programs. Their directors earn very substantial salaries . Their clients ( and that is what they are) bring in that funding- the more clients and programs the more money .

But Lorain businesses those NOT in the social service industry want me and others like myself to come downtown to be their clientele.

The realtors want young families to move into these affordable neighborhoods to support our schools, use our library , go to the theatre.

How do they do that?

You do that by making the neighborhood and downtown a place you want to be, to walk to enjoy, to feel safe and comfortable with those that are sharing those sidewalks and areas. You provide a service or product that is of a “positive ilk”

So let us get on the same page and see about taking care of the miscreants that make our downtown unattractive.

We have a lot of social service agencies in this area and therefore we are attractive to their clientele ( even if for the most part their clientele aren’t so attractive to us )

We also have a lot of bars that are attractive to some of the “clients” and newer residents ( said sarcastically) . Sorry but we are hardly “upmarket” in our bar scene and the one or two that try wellllllllll

I tried on more than one occasion to bring the elephant to the table :

the figures of trackable less than honorable gentlemen in our 1 mile and to get the point across we aren’t just taking care of the homeless – infact I believe the people at the discussion were giving the true “homeless” a bad wrap.

I was met polite smiles and Oh yes we know look and let us move on. So I will have my say here ( because I can) –

So to those Social Service agency people in particular – as you leave my neighborhood in the evening I ask you :

Do you really KNOW about the area in my neighborhood and the downtown corridor and who lives there?

BECAUSE THESE AREN’T THE HOMELESS EVERYONE WAS MENTIONING- these “clients” of the Adult Parole Authority and also the plethora of RSO’s for the most part HAVE HOMES except for the “13 unmappable that sometimes give Catholic Charities on 8th street as their address.

They come here for the cheap housing , the cluster housing where they can be with people they have things in common and the welcome wagon of available services as they are informed as to where they will find acceptance and services upon leaving prison and where they won’t find that help.

I am glad that people volunteer at the shelters I am glad they are looking out for their fellow man- but hey over here – we who are trying to make a living – trying to live we would like a little compassion too!

You see Lorain has a residential area that literally abuts the business corridor all long Broadway not just the area to the underpass – we were the foot traffic, the clients- when that neighbohood was healthy the businesses that relied upon that community were also healthy - when people felt safe driving through those neighborhoods they came to those banks, churches, theatres, they parked and went about the their “business”. NOT NOW!

You can put up all the cameras you want in a long Broadway to underpass, you can make the Broadway business district welcoming

BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER WHAT IS IN OUR NOT SO HEALTHY NEIGHBORHOOD thanks to affordable housing and a plethora of social services and mega funding ( good business) and it has to be said “lack of code enforcement and deteriorating structures.

BECAUSE IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD OF 44052 that abuts that Broadway corridor and that self same business district we have :

THESE CLIENTS are in my neighborhood, they are walking my neighborhood streets they are sitting in my park and getting coffee and donuts from those that care. I have a right to complain because I LIVE here I spend 24 hours a day with the CLIENTS!

THEY too are being “serviced” by the number of social service agencies and their millions in funding .

You can talk about poor “old Joe” who isn’t all there but harmless as he wanders around the park where I LIVE and urinates in the fountain as he says good day to another neighbor whose claim to fame is
“burglary, GSI, Attempted rape, conspiracy AGG Robbery, weapons and unlawful dangerous ordinance”.

He too, is out for his nightly airing with his a bottle of wine / drugs to share with the lady ( of the evening and day ) who uses the pine tree for her absolutions as she plies her trade.

Do you honestly think I am going to take a stroll with my grandchild along that pathway in my little park on a summer’s evening?

Do you think I am going to take my grandchild to the library 2 streets away ?

NO! I am going to drive OUT of 44052 with him.

I wanted to laugh as the lady one social service agency said

but that wouldn’t have been polite!!!!

I had another burning question for the EPA

Cuyahoga Community College had to take out mega bucks of insurance and meet all sorts of guidelines from the EPA so no hazards or health situations would concern those neighbors who lived in close proximity to the burning houses. And burn they did 3 controlled burns on 25th street (May 6th, 9th and 10th) and 6 ( yes 6 separate controlled burns over a month and a half) on 10th. ( Where there is fire there is smoke ……..

However, I thought as I listened to the precautions taken :

that is an awful lot of “smoke” – and we know what smoke does and pollutants going into the air of those neighborhoods. What was in that smoke?

How did the air quality in those neighbors fare during the burn?- after all a drop in water pressure can send the city into a tizz wazz with media alerts etc.

What were those that lived in the vicinity taking into their lungs or exposed to during the controlled burns ?

I dutifully called the EPA- after all they gave permission -they should know right ?????- WRONG!!!!! the EPA does not monitor the controlled burns.

The air quality for the City of Lorain is monitored 24 hours a day but from the top of William Barr School, Lake Breeze Road, SHEFFIELD LAKE.

Apparently they stopped monitoring from Lorain a few years ago.

BUT since the EPA allowed the controlled burning to go on in these old neighborhoods, where houses are on 66 ft traditional lots( meaning we are clustered) surely, thought I, since the EPA knew where and when the “multiple burns” were taking place the EPA would be monitoring those burns and the ensuing ( turbid) ( there is that word again) smoke and any particulates effecting the surrounding area. Sort of proactive thinking for which they strive?????

NO! The EPA did NOT monitor of any of the burns according to the Ohio EPA.

Is it a requirement to remove lead and lead paint etc when setting fire to these older homes?

Ah! then it follows so since no one monitors the burns we have no idea what went up in smoke and since water etc. is used to put out the fires where does that water go as it runs off these homes that are burned numerous times? What does THAT WATER contain I wondered as it seeps into the ground and down the storm drains from multiple burnings – you see the EPA didn’t monitor the burnings so we will never know what was “not contained” and “controlled”.
I do know the training firefighters facility at Boston’s Logan airport treats the smoke ‘n’ the water.

But no such filtration can be used on our “controlled burns” in Lorain and Lorain County – Nope straight down the old drain and into Lake Erie - Good job we won’t be having any more of these “burns”!

SMOKE “N” THE WATER….or just another TURBITY TALE ……

NOTE to the City of Lorain there are many “architectural salvage companies” who would come a strip out any worthwhile assets such as crown molding, solid wood doors,base boards,oak floors, corner cabinets, turned porch spindles etc.just google “architectural salvage, Cleveland” maybe then we could get recycling “green points” and then maybe we could get some of those recycle funds from Lorain County just a thought!

My first council meeting was back in the late 70″s – a young thing was I- I was new to the political arena of Lorain- I went for two reasons:

One I had an issue with the fact that another “bright spark” was going to put ore piles in my neighborhood ( we know how that worked out)

Two – the fact that a directive was sent by a Mr. Jacabozzi to all city personnel ( my husband had been recently hired ) they and their families should NOT attend City Council meetings and so it began..

I have sat through 6 Administrations – dozens and dozens of different faces on council – I have grown old watching political game playing- complete and utter fiascos – I have seen division- wheeling and dealing- I have seen patience – I have seen the good – the bad – the ugly I have even seen my own council person( a few years back) fall asleep and then fall off the chair……

I have watched the business of legislation and the business of adminstration. I have watched when citizens speak at cross purposes with the people on the other side of the barrier.

There are times that I admire the patience with which “OUR” elected officials listen and deal with us.

You see WE don’t always KNOW the procedure, the terminology, the chain of command – we don’t live in the world of the politician – we jump into the government pool when we need help or have a concern.

Mostly we live our lives, and yes “bitch” on occasion, but we are there when they need more money and our votes and then they come looking for US!

I am not sure I should be writing under the influence of “anger” there maybe a Literary License “Cop” hanging around???

I attended the City Council Meeting Tuesday night in order to introduce to the Administration and Lorain City Council individuals who had been experiencing some very negative situations all caused by the City of Lorain.

And silly me I thought

Their complaints were documented and legitimate.
I truly believed in bringing the big guns to bear would get action

However, I learned one or two things at that meeting.
One city council members were unaware of the controlled burn program-

WHY????????? DO THEY NOT READ THE BOARD OF CONTROL MINUTES TO FIND OUT WHAT THE BOARD OF CONTROL IS DOING?

After a little research on my part to see whose “idea” this partnership with Tri C was I found it in the BOC minutes .
Gilchrist ( Community Development) Krasienko ( Mayor) Dore ( Safety Director) with advice from the Fire Chief.

I also was chagrined to hear Mayor Krasienko in his explanation to Mr. Silecky negating the concerns of one of his citizens by questioning their integrity and worthiness of reporting what happened to them when contacting the City of Lorain Community Development Dept. A bad workman may blame his tools but good Mayor should never belittle a taxpayer

As bad as that was I was also upset with council members who knew these people were in the audience and were their constituents and they sat on their hands they didn’t even bring a pea shooter to bear – their constituents were silenced:

Somehow in this whole government cock up ( oops sorry back to the English again sorry) the city turned this from being a “COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT” issue into a LORAIN FIRE DEPT issue.

This was never about the burning it was about the taking down the eyesores left by the burning in a timely manner and getting answers!

It has now become about RESPECT and the lack thereof and once again “what were they thinking?

Mummy and I got into the car- I, of course in my special seat and insisted Nag Nog come with us to this special place where you can vote before voting day and you can vote early

Although Nag Nog pleaded that she hadn’t studied all the issues and didn’t want to “vote for the lesser of two evils” – Mummy and I struck whilst the iron was hot and Nag Nog wasn’t in her pajamas for once!

I have to say I was a little disappointed that I was 16 /12 years TOO EARLY and had to stay in the car with Nana whilst Mummy and Nag Nog voted hmmmmmmmm

NAG NOG NOTE:
So , yes, in order to set a good example , I went and voted. Since I haven’t been too involved with the information pouring through my mail box (not that I pay too much attention to those anway- “the only thing you can’t spin is a suppository”),
For the first time I had NO clear idea of how I was going to vote.

I hadn’t done my homework. There were one or two races for which I had a preference and one or two issues but the rest- apart from not voting for anyone who was unopposed ( Stewart and Betleski etc) for example.

And if I really wasn’t sure which way to go – I didn’t – then it was a case of eenie/ meenie…. not a format I would endorse but best I could do ……..

So there you have it an “uneducated voter voted”!

AND if my one vote is the tipping point either way don’t blame me – it was all the Lorain Dude’s fault

I promised myself not to get involved with the “comments” on local forums ( a lot of them are the same people anyway posting under two or three names.)

I haven’t learned my lesson from last year and the year before and the year before.

I quit “cold turkey” (I thought ) reading the forums. I was doing very well too but then someone will contact me

Now in my present state it takes a lot to get me to come to the surface.

One poster on a local forum basically said who cares what you people think and lumped me with another group who loved to pontificate and share their thoughts.

I thought about that and really who does care what I think- who am I – nobody – can I move mountains -nope and maybe the information I have to share really is self-serving and of no account. Although I have tried not to be self-serving but they are entitled to their opinion. Besides it would free up a lot of wasted time .

So the point of this post –

I went to MJ and the CRA(p) latest legal go around. And yes! I fell off the wagon I started reading the comments section
Reading the comments I realized that most of the posters are getting the information from “sound bites of newspaper articles” ( not a good thing) , getting the time lines blurred as to who said what when- for the past few articles I have shook my head and stayed away I didn’t comment directly .

But then today as the posters wrote and discussed I stepped into the CRA(p) again . I knew it would bring out the “angry in amherst” type, the supporters of “off with their heads”- the disinformation and the confusion…. As I hit the submit button trying to clear some confusion I thought :

Why did you do that?
What are you doing? You know too well there is no arguing with ignorance.

And anway who appointed you the Chief watchdog of the CRA mess and misinformation police. People really don’t want the facts that are rabidly tearing one another to “posting pieces” in the comment section. Haven’t you learned it just gives you a headache?

Give it up already – sink back into your apathetic existence it is easier and anyway –

The next time someone sees I have posted on one of these forums do me a favor and come and give me good swift kick please !!!!!!

A bedroom community - a community where many commuters live

Avon and Avon Lake locally are such communities I am told. People still want to buy property there and it is recognized as a good place to lay your head.

Lorain is situated on the beautiful lake and has a plethora of affordable housing as well as some new builds that are on par with any being built in Avon and Avon Lake. BUT poor old Lorain we are not deemed worthy apparently of being even a “bedroom community “=

HA Ah!!!! and I know why – it is all down to the pajamas or lack thereof!

Since the episode of the mismatched pajamas I have been quite careful to make sure I go to bed in attire that I wouldn’t mind being caught dead in or at least in public.

Therefore the other day , since I had had one of my ” I am a puddle days“ the day before- I hadn’t watered what little plants I have this year- the heat was causing them such distress. I tentatively stepped out of my front door to give them a much needed drink in my pajamas.

This wasn’t such a big deal , surrounded as I am by empty houses and a now closed school and immediate neighbors who were on vacation I was fairly safe and my pajamas matched! Of course it just so happened that I was caught by a drive by- No not a shooting- just a friend slowly driving up the street- he stopped and chatted from his truck- luckily for me he was sans camera..

Also readers are also aware that I rarely go out anymore unless I have to. In my emotional state it is better to “shop on line” and stay in my pajamas if I choose.

However, there are times when I HAVE to venture forth – my mum’s prescriptions and errands. I had such a day the other day so off I went “dressed” to various shops- Avon Commons being one stop for all and sundry .

Then a quick trip around some stores etc. in Lorain because the items were less expensive- ever notice that hair colour is priced according to zip code

It was on this journey that I made the discovery that a bedroom community really does depend upon pajamas

I saw NOT ONE Avon/ Avon Lake consumer dressed in pajamas – shorts, some tank tops but of the appropriate kind as I waited in line or pushed my shopping cart around the shelves .

BUT in every store I entered – well Lorain shoppers , there was at least one in every checkout line wearing yes pajamas …. some of the pajamas I saw as I waited to be served or pushed around my cart were to say the least “interesting” . Yes the difference is definitely pajamas and the fact that it is OK to shop in pajamas in Lorain – even some they shouldn’t be caught dead in!

But be not afraid Lorain- the international city- it is also an “international’ problem

“To avoid causing offence or embarrassment to others, we ask that our customers are appropriately dressed when visiting our store (footwear must be worn at all times and no nightwear is permitted),” they read.

Only a handful of customers have ever turned up in pyjamas, but a spokeswoman for Tesco’s — the biggest retailer in Britain — said it was enough to trigger firm measures.

“We’re not a nightclub with a strict dress code, and jeans and trainers (sneakers) are of course more than welcome,” she said.

“We do, however, request that customers do not shop in their PJs or nightgowns … We have listened to customer feedback that it makes them uncomfortable and embarrassed.”
